  Hey all, i am trying to learn how to insert a comment within some html code without having to refresh the page. I know jQuery is capable of inserting a comment into a div area but i am having problems finding an example like that with fading in. • javascript to determine if page on remote domain has changed

  Hi, I am trying to find a client-side way to determine if a page on a remote domain has changed. I can't load the page in an iframe and examine its contents due to same origin policy. So I tried using .getResponseHeader("Content-Length") and .getResponseHeader("Last-Modified") but apparently these are also restricted by SOP even though FireBug shows Content-Length in the console. Is there a way to do this? I just need a way to know if the page has changed. Thx

  I am looking for general opinions and suggestions about the site in whole. Its ok I don't mind hearing where I went wrong on anything. I'm still learning. All tips and pointers on any subject relating are highly welcome. If you are going to make a suggestion and post a snippet or code please explain how it works in detail. The site was design as a interface to display the labs I have to do in my college (the labs are all basic things that I'm way beyond). So I decided to take it all to the next level with this. • How to create updateable panel using AjaxLink of Wicket?

  I try to realize a link (in fact many links) that update a table in an website using an AjaxLink of Wicket. But I fail, the table is never updated (I have "setOutputMarkupId(true)" and call "addComponent", but there must be something other thats wrong). How can I realize a panel with a number of links and a table that displays dynamic data, dependent on the link clicked? Can someone give an example (Maybe two links, when the first one is clicked the table displays two random numbers from 1-10, when the second is clicked the table displays random numbers from 1-100)? Without reloading the entire page, but only the html for the table?

  hello! i inject a map on my div called "concessionario-map" with GMap, a jquery plugin. • IE6 connection interruption in Comet streaming

• Custom server control disappears from page when UpdatePanel updates

  Hi all. I created a custom asp.net server control. It works fine on a regular asp.net page and as a DOM object inside of the browser. But I've never used the UpdatePanel before and now I'm trying to make sure that this control works there as well. It doesn't. If I add my control to the page outside of an update panel and click some panel's inside button (trigger), everything works fine. But if I place my control inside of update panel and click that button again, the control "disappears" from the page completely. I still can see my control in javascript debugger and the update, meaning that the object itself is still in DOM. It looks like the panel just "hides" the outer div element of my control for some reason. I tried to call panel's Update() method on button click handler, set panel's UpdateMode to both Conditional and Always. All with the same result. How can I fix that? Thank you!

• Online webcam chat. Free server and easy-to-implement client?

  I have a client requesting that his users can use their webcams to talk to each other. From what I've understood the main thing to use for this is Flash. However as I have not written flash I would like to have something really easy to implement. Of course preferrably free (or trial). The idea of this is that everything but the chat alone is in .net. So the users will not use flash until they are actaully going to talk to each other. So there is no use for rooms here. I've been looking into silverlight some as well. But it seems like silverlight does not offer streaming between users..? I know this question has been asked many times here. But I could not find a suitable answer which is why I post a new question.

• jquery tabs changing on change?

  Hello, I have two tabs each with different styles and different text. One recent posts and one recent comments the css for each are below with the ones I need to have when they are selected. So pretty much when a user selects the recent comments it will change the entire block to the second one (2). Pretty much changing width, and swapping the css for both tabs. I am currently using idtabs http://www.sunsean.com/idTabs/ My question: How can I have it change the tab css and width for both when the right tab is selected and then back again when the left tab is selected. • ScriptManager duplicates javascript

  Hi! I have a usercontrol that can be used in for example a gridview itemtemplate, this means that the control might or might not be on the page at page load. In the case where the control is inside an itemtemplate i will popupate the gridview via asyncronous postbacks (via updatepanels). The control itselfs registrers scriptblocks since it is depending on javascripts. First i used Page.ClientScript.RegistrerClientScriptBlock But this doesn't work on asyncronous postbacks (updatepanels) so i then tried the same using ScriptManager which allows me to registrer scripts on the page after async postbacks. great!. ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock However, ScriptManager (what i know of) does not have the functionallity to see if a script already is on the page, so i will for every postback generate duplicates of the script blocks, this is ofcourse unwanted behaviour. I did a run at Google and found that i can call the Dispose() method of the PageRequestManager can be used, this does work since it clears the scripts and then adding them again (this also solves my issue with removing unused script blocks from removed controls). Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().Dispose() However, ofcourse there is a downside since im posting here :). The Dispose() method disposes the instance on the master page as well which leads to scripts running there will stop to function after an async postback (updateprogress for example). So, is there a way to check if a script already exists on the page using ScriptManager or any other tools, that will prevent me of inserting duplicate scripts? Also, is there a way to remove certain script blocks (when i am removing an item in itemtemplate for example). Big thanks in advance.

  I created a marker interface: public interface ISupportAJAXPostsBacks{} I added it to my Page.. public partial class MyWebForm : PageBase, ISupportAJAXPostsBacks I have this check in my PageBase class... if(this is ISupportAJAXPostsBacks) { ... do some stuff ... } If I step through via the debugger, "this is ISupportAJAXPostsBacks" evaluates to true for the initial page load, but evaluates to false when an UpdatePanel posts back on that same page. (scratches head) What is happening under the covers to cause this and what can I do about it?
