  • Django test client gets 301 redirection when accessing url

    - by Michal Klich
    I am writing unittests for django views. I have observed that one of my views returns redirection code 301, which is not expected. Here is my views.py mentioned earlier. def index(request): return render(request, 'index.html', {'form': QueryForm()}) def query(request): if request.is_ajax(): form = QueryForm(request.POST) return HttpResponse('valid') Below is urls.py. urlpatterns = patterns('', url(r'^$', 'core.views.index'), url(r'^query/$', 'core.views.query') ) And unittest that will fail. def so_test(self): response = self.client.post('/') self.assertEquals(response.status_code, 200) response = self.client.post('/query', {}) self.assertEquals(response.status_code, 200) My question is: why there is status 301 returned?

  • Does jQuery have an equivalent to Prototype's Element.identify?

    - by Alan Storm
    Is there a built in method or defacto default plugin that will let you automatically assign an unique ID to an element in jQuery, or do you need to implement something like this yourself? I'm looking for the jQuery equivalent to Prototype's identify method Here's an example. I have some HTML structure on a page that looks like this <span id="prefix_1">foo bar</span> ... <div id="foo"> <span></span> <span></span> <span></span> </div> I want to assign each of the spans an ID that will be unique to the page. So after calling something like this $('#foo span').identify('prefix'); //fake code, no such method The rendered DOM would look something like this <span id="prefix_1">foo bar</span> ... <div id="foo"> <span id="prefix_2"></span> <span id="prefix_3"></span> <span id="prefix_4"></span> </div> Is there anything official-ish/robust for jQuery, or is this something most jQuery developers roll on their own?

  • Why can I not send more than one request?

    - by Doug
    function stateChanged(idname) { xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200) { document.getElementById(idname).value = xmlhttp.responseText; } } } function openSend(php,idname) { stateChanged(idname); xmlhttp.open("GET",php,true); xmlhttp.send(); } function showHint() { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } openSend("time.php", "Time"); openSend("date1.php", "Date1"); openSend("date2.php", "Date2"); return; } These two say aborted (in Firebug) and doesn't return a value. Why is that? Is it because I can't send more than 1 request? openSend("time.php", "Time"); openSend("date1.php", "Date1"); If I can't, how could I achieve 3 requests with only one invocation?

  • JQuery .load() function silently fails when offline

    - by edoloughlin
    I'm trying to write an iPhone offline webapp using jqtouch/jquery. When I disable my connectivity, it looks like the jquery .load() function silently fails and doesn't even call its callback function. I've set $.ajaxSetup ({cache: true}); but it seems to have no effect. I also have my manifest file etc. working fine - the only issue is the .load() function. Any ideas?

  • Passing a variable to javascript via a link.

    - by Jon
    My website has a javascript variable (addselectedsubdivision) that loads a neighborhood name from a box on the left to a box on the right. I was hoping I could build a link and then us PHP to add the subdivision letter, neighborhood, and city so that when you click on the link it goes right to this page and loads the neighborhood name in the box on the right. However, I can't get the variable to pass to the new page. Any suggestions? Website: http://www.mlsfinder.com/va_rein/jonmcachran/index.cfm?primarySearchType=sold&searchType=subdivision&so=a&domain=www.jonsellsvb.com&subdivision_string=p Example link: <a href="http://www.mlsfinder.com/va_rein/jonmcachran/index.cfm?primarySearchType=sold&searchType=subdivision&so=a&domain=www.jonsellsvb.com&subdivision_string=$firstletter" onLoad="addselectedsubdivision($neighborhood||$city);" target="_blank">

  • How to implement partial refresh like facebook like/comments?

    - by shillong
    We have java web application. Summary page will display list of rows. For each row, user can vote and add comments. Vote or add comments will commit immediately and refresh total vote number and comments count. We want to refresh current row instead of whole table just like Facebook does. If need, we can show the list of data with form format (iterator List of data) instead of table format. How to implement this feature base on JSF?

  • Read a text file

    - by Cyprus106
    I have looked everywhere and surprisingly can't find a good solution to this! I've got the following code that is supposed to read a text file and display it's contents. But it's not reading, for some reason. Am I doing something wrong? FTR, I can't use PHP for this. It's gotta be Javascript. var txtFile = new XMLHttpRequest(); txtFile.open("GET", "http://www.mysite.com/todaysTrivia.txt", true); txtFile.send(null); txtFile.onreadystatechange = function() { if (txtFile.readyState == 4) { // Makes sure the document is ready to parse. alert(txtFile.responseText+" - "+txtFile.status); //if (txtFile.status === 200) { // Makes sure it's found the file. var doc = document.getElementById("Trivia-Widget"); if (doc) { doc.innerHTML = txtFile.responseText ; } //} } txtFile.send(null); } Any good ideas what I'm doing wrong? It just keeps givimg me a zero status. EDIT: I guess it would be a good idea to explain why I need this code. It's basically a widget that other folks can put on their own websites that grabs a line of text from my website and displays it on theirs. The problem is that it really can't be server-side since I've got zero control over everyone else's sites that use this.

  • JQuery Load() syntax - Changing data source on mouseenter

    - by Andrew Parisi
    Hey everyone. I've written this simple function that is supposed to load a portion of an XML file on mouseenter. It works fine when I specify the data source explicitly, shown below. I have a number of '.invest-port-thumb' divs, each with a unique link. The following code works fine—but it loads the whole XML file—and I only want a portion: $(document).ready(function() { $('.invest-port-thumb a').mouseenter(function() { $('#slider-name').load(this.href); }); }); This code also works fine—loading only the 'cName' portion that I want it to load...Except that this code refers to one of the files, instead of the value of this.href. $(document).ready(function() { $('.invest-port-thumb a').mouseenter(function() { $('#slider-name').load('port/atd.xml cName'); }); }); I guess what I'm saying, syntax wise—How can I combine this.href and the data matching cName? Thanks for the help!

  • Implementing a live voting system

    - by Will Eddins
    I'm looking at implementing a live voting system on my website. The website provides a live stream, and I'd like to be able to prompt viewers to select an answer during a vote initiated by the caster. I can understand how to store the data in a mySQL database, and how to process the answers. However: How would I initially start the vote on the client-side and display it? Should a script be running every few seconds on the page, checking another page to see if a question is available for the user? Are there any existing examples of a real-time polling system such as what I'm looking at implementing?

  • Clean way in GWT/Java to wait for multiple asynchronous events to finish

    - by gerdemb
    What is the best way to wait for multiple asynchronous callback functions to finish in Java before continuing. Specifically I'm using GWT with AsyncCallback, but I think this is a generic problem. Here's what I have now, but surely there is cleaner way... AjaxLoader.loadApi("books", "0", new Runnable(){ public void run() { bookAPIAvailable = true; ready(); }}, null); AjaxLoader.loadApi("search", "1", new Runnable(){ public void run() { searchAPIAvailable = true; ready(); }}, null); loginService.login(GWT.getHostPageBaseURL(), new AsyncCallback<LoginInfo>() { public void onSuccess(LoginInfo result) { appLoaded = true; ready(); } }); private void ready() { if(bookAPIAvailable && searchAPIAvailable && appLoaded) { // Everything loaded } }

  • Jquery prettyPhoto and star conflict....DOM not loading?

    - by Dustin
    I'm working on an online ordering system for photography clients: Here. (Forgive the requirement of having to sign in). After signing in, the user is able to rate pictures using the stars listed below each picture, then subsequently view 3 star pics, or 4 star pics, etc. However, when the user clicks on an image, a lightbox expands (prettyPhoto namely) which contains the picture as well as the stars listed below. I want users to be able to star a picture within the lightbox, but the javascript is not being passed after the prettyPhoto lightbox is initialized. Consequently, they can't rate pictures within the lightbox. I've heard of something similar to this, but have no idea about how to go about tackling the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Detect the file size of a link's href using JavaScript

    - by noblethrasher
    Hi, Would like to write a script to detect the file size of the target of a link on a web page. Right now I have a function that finds all links to PDF files (i.e. the href ends with '.pdf') and appends the string '[pdf]' to the innerText. I would like to extend it so that I can also append some text advising the user that the target is a large file (e.g. greater than 1MB). Thanks

  • Update PageTitle on Timer.Tick

    - by sohum
    I've got a page with a Timer that is being used as a trigger on an UpdatePanel. The page also contains a TabContainer and several TabPanels. Look at this question for more information. Basically, I've got an UpdatePanel as the element in each TabPanel's ContentTemplate, and the UpdatePanel is triggered by the Timer. My page displays data by reading a database on each tick. I've got the following code running on each Timer.Tick in my codebehind: protected void timeRefresher_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e) { UpdateLivePageTitle(); } The UpdateLivePageTitle() function reads the new information from the database and sets Page.Title accordingly. However, this information is of course not sent to the browser because there is no full page postback--only an async postback to the update panels. As a result, my page title is not being updated until the whole page is being posted back, which destroys the purpose of using UpdatePanels in the first place. I figure there would be a way to do this by using the document.title JS element and call that from within UpdateLivePageTitle(). But as of now, I haven't been able to figure out how to do this. I tried using the following in my UpdateLivePageTitle() function: string updatePageTitleScript = String.Format("document.title = '{0}'", newPageTitle); ToolkitScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(this.Page, this.Page.GetType(), "UpdatePageTitle", updatePageTitleScript, true); But the result of this was that my TabContainer stopped rendering. I'm also not sure that would work with the async partial page postbacks, either. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • How to record when user follows external links without slowing user down

    - by taw
    I want to track when user clicks external links for analytics purposes. The simplest solution is to replace all external links with links to special record-and-redirect controller, but that would slow the user unnecessarily. The second idea would be to override click event and within in $.post a message to record controller, then let the main event handler happen, which will usually be either click (open link in same tab) or middle click (open in new tab) - good either way, and the user won't have to wait for wait for my server to record it, it's fire-and-forget. (I don't care if users without Javascript don't get tracked) Is that a reasonable way to go? Or what else would be the best way to track all external link clicks?

  • Slow Response in checkbox using JQuery

    - by Dean
    Hi to all. I'm trying to optimize a website. The flow is i tried to query a certain table and all of its data entry in a page(w/ toolbars), work fine. When i tried to edit the page the problem is when i click the checkbox button i have to wait 2-5sec just by clicking it. I limit the viewing of entry to 5 only but the response on checkbox doesn't change. The tables have 100 entries in them. function checkAccess(celDiv,id) { var celValue = $(celDiv).html(); if (celValue==1) $(celDiv).html("<input type='checkbox' value='"+$(celDiv).html()+"' checked disabled>") else $(celDiv).html("<input type='checkbox' value='"+$(celDiv).html()+"' disabled>") $(celDiv).click ( function() { $('input',this).each( function(){ tr_idx = $('#detFlex1 tbody tr').index($(this).parent().parent().parent()); td_idx = $('#detFlex1 tbody tr:eq('+tr_idx+') td').index($(this).parent().parent()); td_last = 13; for(var td=td_idx+1; td<=td_last;td++) { if ($(this).attr('checked') == true) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[td_idx] = 1;//index[1] = Full Access if (td_idx==3) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[td] = 1; } df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[2] = 1; if (td_idx > 3) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[2] = 1; } } else { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[td_idx] = 0;//index[0] = With Access if (td_idx==2) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[td] = 0; } else if (td_idx==3) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[td] = 0; } if (td_idx > 3) { df[0].rows[tr_idx].cell[3] = 0; } } } $('#detFlex1').flexAddData(df[0]); $('.toolbar a[title=Edit Item]').trigger('click'); }); } ); } I've thought that the problem is this above code. Could anyone help me simplify this code.?

  • [Rails] checkbox to update attribute

    - by Jeff
    [Updated a bit] I have a Task model that has a :completed boolean attribute. If I click on it I want it to execute the 'finish' method. The main problem is that I am displays a series of checkboxes in a list and subsequent checkboxes after the first one are ignored. The method is never called for the given task/checkbox combo. I have this chunk of code in my view: <% current_user.tasks.each do |t|%> <% if t.completed == false %> <%= check_box_tag :completed, true, checked = false %> <%= observe_field :completed, :url => { :controller => 'tasks', :action => :finish , :id => t.id }, :frequency => 0.25, :update => :completed, :with => true %> and my finish method looks like this: def finish @task = Task.find(params[:id]) new = {:completed => true} @task.update_attributes(new) render :update do |page| page.replace_html "taskListing", :partial => 'home/task_listing' end

  • How to make Dajax callback into scoped object

    - by BozoJoe
    I cant seem to find a way to make django-dajaxice have its callback inside same scoped object from which made the initial call. MyViewport = Ext.extend(MyViewportUi, { initComponent: function() { MyViewport.superclass.initComponent.call(this); }, LoadRecordsCallback: function(data){ if(data!='DAJAXICE_EXCEPTION') { alert(data); } else { alert('DAJAXICE_EXCEPTION'); } }, LoadRecords: function(){ Dajaxice.Console.GetUserRecords(this.LoadRecordsCallback); } }); var blah = new MyViewport(); blah.LoadRecords(); I'm on django, and like the calling syntax to django-dajaxice. I'm using Extjs 3.2 and tried passing a Ext.createCallback but Dajax's returning eval seems to only want a string for the callback.

  • Replace the surround of an html element with another document

    - by KvanteTore
    I have an html page with (among other things) a Unity3D window. I would like to replace everything on the page without causing the Unity window to reload. I have tried the following jquery-tastic function replaceSurround(keepElem, newElem) { keepElem.siblings().remove(); keepElem.prepend(newElem.prevAll()); keepElem.append(newElem.nextAll()); var keepParent = keepElem.parent(); var newParent = newElem.parent(); if (keepParent && newParent) { replaceSurround(keepParent, newParent); } } where keepElem is an element in the original document and newElem is the corresponding element in the new document, but it did not work very well.
