  • Handling form security

    - by Harun Baris Bulut
    So how do you maintain the form security about posting data to different page problem? For instance you have a member and he/she tries to change the personal settings and you redirected member to www.domain.com/member/change/member_id member changed the values and post the data to another page by changing the action with firebug or something else. For instance www.domain.com/member/change/member_id_2 How do you handle this problem without using sessions?

  • Copying SD Cards with "LaCie d2 Network"

    - by rjstelling
    The LaCie d2 Network has a feature where by you can attach a USB drive and press the blue button at the from and it will copy the drive contents (no computer required). (See this review for more info). USB 2.0 and eSATA ports are also provided but these are not designed for extending the d2 Network's storage. Rather, they allow you to connect portable drives for uploading their data to the d2 Network directly. The process is quite slick, too: just plug in a drive and press the big blue button on the front of the unit to trigger an immediate upload. This copies over everything on the external device and seems ideal for camera use. Is it possible to use an microSD or SD card adapter (like the Kingston MobileLite 9-in-1) and copy the contents of the card? I'm assuming the card reader just "looks like" a normal USB flash drive the computer or (in this case) LaCie d2 Network. Is this assumption correct? Do you know any reason why this won't work?

Suddenly late yesterday, without changing either Xcode or Quicksilver, it started appearing like this: Screenshot There's no "open" option in the action list anymore. I rebooted with no joy. All my other applications launch. Xcode still launches from Spotlight. It just seems to be any app under /Developer/Applications. Any suggestions? cheers,Step

  • Maintaining ViewModel fields with default model binding and failed validation

    - by TonE
    I have an ASP.Net MVC Controller with a 'MapColumns' action along with a corresponding ViewModel and View. I'm using the defaultModelBinder to bind a number of drop down lists to a Dictionary in the ViewModel. The view model also contains an IList field for both source and destination columns which are used to render the view. My question is what to do when validation fails on the Post call to the MapColumns action? Currently the MapColumns view is returned with the ViewModel resulting from the default binding. This contains the Dictionary values but not the two lists used to render the page. What is the best way to re-provide these to the view? I can set them explicitly after failed validation, but if obtaining these values (via GetSourceColumns() and GetDestinationColumns() in the example) carries any overhead this doesn't seem ideal. What I am looking for is a way to retain these lists when they are not bound to the model from the view. Here is some code to illustrate: public class TestViewModel { public Dictionary<string, string> ColumnMappings { get; set; } public List<string> SourceColumns; public List<string> DestinationColumns; } public class TestController : Controller { [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Get)] public ActionResult MapColumns() { var model = new TestViewModel; model.SourceColumns = GetSourceColumns(); model.DestinationColumns = GetDestinationColumns(); return View(model); } [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult MapColumns(TestViewModel model) { if( Validate(model) ) { // Do something with model.ColumnMappings RedirectToAction("Index"); } else { // Here model.SourceColumns and model.DestinationColumns are empty return View(model); } } } The relevant section of MapColumns.aspx: <% int columnCount = 0; foreach(string column in Model.targetColumns) {%> <tr> <td> <input type="hidden" name="ColumnMappings[<%= columnCount %>].Value" value="<%=column %>" /> <%= Html.DropDownList("ColumnMappings[" + columnCount + "].Key", Model.DestinationColumns.AsSelectItemList())%> </td> </tr> <% columnCount++; }%>

  • Get text of button from IBAction - iPhone

    - by Organiccat
    When an IBAction is called: -(IBAction) onClick1: (id) sender; What is passed in the sender? Since it's hooked up through the IB, I'm not really sure. My question is how to get the text of the button to be the passed object (NSString most likely) so that I could call it inside the action implementation. -(IBAction) onClick1: (id) sender { NSLog(@"User clicked %@", sender); // Do something here with the variable 'sender' }

  • How to bind Lists of a custom view model to a dropDownList an get the selected value after POST in A

    - by user187220
    I have following problem. In my view model I defined some list properties as follows: public class BasketAndOrderSearchCriteriaViewModel { List<KeyValuePair> currencies; public ICollection<KeyValuePair> Currencies { get { if (this.currencies == null) this.currencies = new List<KeyValuePair>(); return this.currencies; } } List<KeyValuePair> deliverMethods; public ICollection<KeyValuePair> DeliveryMethods { get { if (this.deliverMethods == null) this.deliverMethods = new List<KeyValuePair>(); return this.deliverMethods; } } } This view model is embedded in another view model: public class BasketAndOrderSearchViewModel { public BasketAndOrderSearchCriteriaViewModel Criteria { [System.Diagnostics.DebuggerStepThrough] get { return this.criteria; } } } I use 2 action methods; one is for the GET and the other for POST: [HttpGet] public ActionResult Search(BasketAndOrderSearchViewModel model){...} [HttpPost] public ActionResult SubmitSearch(BasketAndOrderSearchViewModel model){...} In the view I implement the whole view model by using the EditorFor-Html Helper which does not want to automatically display DropDownLists for List properties! 1. Question: How can you let EditorFor display DropDownLists? Since I could not figure out how to display DropDownLists by using EditorFor, I used the DropDownList Html helper and filled it through the view model as follows: public IEnumerable<SelectListItem> DeliveryMethodAsSelectListItem() { List<SelectListItem> list = new List<SelectListItem>(); list.Add(new SelectListItem() { Selected = true, Text = "<Choose Delivery method>", Value = "0" }); foreach (var item in this.DeliveryMethods) { list.Add(new SelectListItem() { Selected = false, Text = item.Value, Value = item.Key }); } return list; } My 2. question: As you can see I pass my view model to the action metho with POST attribute! Is there a way to get the selected value of a DropDownList get binded to the passed view model? At the moment all the DropDownList are empty and the selected value can only be fetched by the Request.Form which I definitely want to avoid! I would greatly appreciate some ideas or tips on this!

  • Kohana 3 - Constructor

    - by pigfox
    I attempted to use public function __construct(){} but got the error ErrorException [ Strict ]: Creating default object from empty value. The reason behind this is that I use a controller that is protected for logged in users only, I don't want to have to call $this-protect(); from every action in the controller. Hence my attempt to use a constructor that calls $this-protect();

  • Possible to cancel paging in ListView using DataPager

    - by Littlefool
    I'm using a datapager control on my listview to perform paging in it. When paging through the table, I need to perform some validations. When these validations are not successfull, the paging should be cancelled. I currently perform the validation in the PagePropertiesChanging event of the ListView, however, the arguments do not provide a Cancel property. protected void MyListView_PagePropertiesChanging(object sender, PagePropertiesChangingEventArgs e) { if (!Validate()) { // cancel the paging action} } Does anyone know if canceling the paging is possible and how to perform it? Thanks

  • Controllers and threads

    - by user72185
    Hi, I'm seeing this code in a project and I wonder if it is safe to do: (ASP.NET MVC 2.0) class MyController { void ActionResult SomeAction() { System.Threading.Thread newThread = new System.Threading.Thread(AsyncFunc); newThread.Start(); } void AsyncFunc() { string someString = HttpContext.Request.UrlReferrer.Authority + Url.Action("Index", new { controller = "AnotherAction" } ); } } Is the controller reused, possibly changing the content of HttpContext.Request and Url, or is this fine (except for not using the thread pool). Thanks for info!

  • Rails 3 Processing by */*

    - by Maestro
    I have noticed that in Rails 3.2.2, all actions are being processed with */* format. So the question is: what means */* ? And why it is called by default (every time) ? Because there are two processings for one action: Started GET "/" for 127.0.0.1 at 2012-07-07 22:50:22 +0200 Processing by MainController#index as HTML Started GET "/" for 127.0.0.1 at 2012-07-07 22:50:22 +0200 Processing by MainController#index as */* I have tried to set: respond_to :html def index @posts = Post.all respond_with(@posts) end But the same problem still exists.

  • Hello-World-grade landscape Android app fails to start (complete code included)

    - by WingedCat
    I'm trying to develop a simple Android app, fixed in landscape mode. I am using Eclipse 1.3, compiling for Android SDK version 7 (OS version 2.1). When I try to run it in the emulator, it crashes on boot. (It gets as far as the unlock slider, but shortly after that when trying to launch the application itself, I get "The application Failtest (process com.wcs.failtest) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.".) Here is main.xml (with the tags escaped so this displays properly): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="480px" android:layout_height="320px" > <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="96px" android:layout_height="320px" android:id="@+id/action_menu" > <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="96px" android:layout_height="48px" > <Button android:layout_width="48px" android:layout_height="48px" android:background="#f00" android:id="@+id/action_button_11" /> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> Here is AndroidManifest.xml (again with the tags escaped so this displays properly): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.wcs.failtest" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0"> <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name" android:theme="@android:style/Theme.NoTitleBar.Fullscreen"> <activity android:name=".FailtestActivity" android:screenOrientation="landscape" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> </application> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="7" /> </manifest> And here is FailtestActivity.java: package com.wcs.failtest; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.widget.Button; import android.view.View.OnClickListener; import android.view.View; public class FailtestActivity extends Activity { private OnClickListener action11Listener = new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { } }; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); Button button; button = (Button)findViewById(R.id.action_button_11); button.setOnClickListener(action11Listener); setContentView(R.layout.main); } } I suspect it is something simple I'm overlooking. What is it?

  • redoing object model construction to fit with asynchronous data fetching

    - by Andrew Patterson
    I have a modeled a set of objects that correspond with some real world concepts. TradeDrug, GenericDrug, TradePackage, DrugForm Underlying the simple object model I am trying to provide is a complex medical terminology that uses numeric codes to represent relationships and concepts, all accessible via a REST service - I am trying to hide away some of that complexity with an object wrapper. To give a concrete example I can call TradeDrug d = Searcher.FindTradeDrug("Zoloft") or TradeDrug d = new TradeDrug(34) where 34 might be the code for Zoloft. This will consult a remote server to find out some details about Zoloft. I might then call GenericDrug generic = d.EquivalentGeneric() System.Out.WriteLine(generic.ActiveIngredient().Name) in order to get back the generic drug sertraline as an object (again via a background REST call to the remote server that has all these drug details), and then perhaps find its ingredient. This model works fine and is being used in some applications that involve data processing. Recently however I wanted to do a silverlight application that used and displayed these objects. The silverlight environment only allows asynchronous REST/web service calls. I have no problems with how to make the asychhronous calls - but I am having trouble with what the design should be for my object construction. Currently the constructors for my objects do some REST calls sychronously. public TradeDrug(int code) { form = restclient.FetchForm(code) name = restclient.FetchName(code) etc.. } If I have to use async 'events' or 'actions' in order to use the Silverlight web client (I know silverlight can be forced to be a synchronous client but I am interested in asychronous approaches), does anyone have an guidance or best practice for how to structure my objects. I can pass in an action callback to the constructor public TradeDrug(int code, Action<TradeDrug> constructCompleted) { } but this then allows the user to have a TradeDrug object instance before what I want to construct is actually finished. It also doesn't support an 'event' async pattern because the object doesn't exist to add the event to until it is constructed. Extending that approach might be a factory object that itself has an asynchronous interface to objects factory.GetTradeDrugAsync(code, completedaction) or with a GetTradeDrugCompleted event? Does anyone have any recommendations?

  • NoSQL DB for .Net document-based database (ECM)

    - by Dane
    I'm halfway through coding a basic multi-tenant SaaS ECM solution. Each client has it's own instance of the database / datastore, but the .Net app is single instance. The documents are pretty much read only (i.e. an image archive of tiffs or PDFs) I've used MSSQL so far, but then started thinking this might be viable in a NoSQL DB (e.g. MongoDB, CouchDB). The basic premise is that it stores documents, each with their own particular indexes. Each tenant can have multiple document types. e.g. One tenant might have an invoice type, which has Customer ID, Invoice Number and Invoice Date. Another tenant might have an application form, which has Member Number, Application Number, Member Name, and Application Date. So far I've used the old method which Sharepoint (used?) to use, and created a document table which has int_field_1, int_field_2, date_field_1, date_field_2, etc. Then, I've got a "mapping" table which stores the customer specific index name, and the database field that will map to. I've avoided the key-value pair model in the DB due to volume of documents. This way, we can support multiple document types in the one table, and get reasonably high performance out of it, and allow for custom document type searches (i.e. user selects a document type, then they're presented with a list of search fields). However, a NoSQL DB might make this a lot simpler, as I don't need to worry about denormalizing the document. However, I've just got concerns about the rest of the data around a document. We store an "action history" against the document. This tracks views, whether someone emails the document from within the system, and other "future" functionality (e.g. faxing). We have control over the document load process, so we can manipulate the data however it needs to be to get it in the document store (e.g. assign unique IDs). Users will not be adding in their own documents, so we shouldn't need to worry about ACID compliance, as the documents are relatively static. So, my questions I guess : Is a NoSQL DB a good fit Is MongoDB the best for Asp.Net (I saw Raven and Velocity, but they're still kinda beta) Can I store a key for each document, and then store the action history in a MSSQL DB with this key? I don't need to do joins, it would be if a person clicks "View History" against a document. How would performance compare between the two (NoSQL DB vs denormalized "document" table) Volumes would be up to 200,000 new documents per month for a single tenant. My current scaling plan with the SQL DB involves moving the SQL DB into a cluster when certain thresholds are reached, and then reviewing partitioning and indexing structures.

  • ASP.NET MVC Login ReturnUrl always NULL?

    - by aherrick
    Using Forms Authentication in ASP.NET MVC when trying to log back into a site, it puts a ReturnUrl parameter in the query string. My Logon action method accepts a "returnUrl" string. However it seems that returnUrl string is always null, even when it is clearly in the query string. Any thoughts on why this might be the case or a possible fix?
