How can I paste some text that I yanked at the end of the line? Currently I'm doing it by pressing $p. Is there any way to do this with a single keystroke?
I'm trying to install SQL Compact 3.5 SP2 after I've installed SQL 2012 RC0, on a x64 Windows 7.
The x86 installer goes through fine.
The x64 installer fails, with the error:
"Error 25543.Failed to save changes to XML file c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\CONFIG\machine.config, system error: -2147024864"
Note the \CONFIG (double backslash) where there should be a single backslash... any ideas why this is happening and how to solve it?
I was wondering why is it that some programs requires their command prompt parameters to have two dashes in front whereas some (most) only require one dash in front?
For example most programs look like this: relaxer -dtd toc.xml toc_gr.xml toc_jp.xml
Whereas some programs look like this: xmllint --valid toc.xml --noout
What's the reason that some requires two dashes instead of one? Doesn't it make sense for everyone to stick to one standard (i.e. a single dash will do).
Since I upgraded from Ubuntu LTS 10 to LTS 12, I have been getting error messages like:

We do not have a RAID setup, and only have a single hard drive. Ideas ?

I am looking for a free solution. I read about Untangle, and long ago I used IPCop. I know, they are not AV per se, but they have the ability and include AV softwares. However, I need a bit more. I need the feature of scanning a single PC, or a range of PCs.
I keep data on a USB drive, but I also keep a copy of all of that data on a hard disk. I like using the hard disk because it's faster and gives me a backup. What standalone tools would work to keep the files on the disk and USB drive in sync? I'd like a single command line executable or standalone GUI app that can do the job--something I could run off of the USB drive. So, things like the MS Sync Tool wouldn't work.
I currently have an HTTP server running on a single machine (it runs Ubuntu Server Edition, if that helps). In the past that has been sufficient, but as traffic has grown I have begun to need more power and storage space. I have a second machine, and have installed Ubuntu Server Edition on it. How do I get the two to run in unison? How is this usually done in professional setups?
Thanks, your answers are appreciated.
Hi, I have just a simple question. Today memory DDR chips are 64 bits wide, and the CPU data bus is also 64 bits wide. But memory is stil organised in single bytes. So, what I want to ask is, when CPU selects some memory adress, it should be one byte, right? Becouse the lowest memory portion you can access is 1 byte. But, if you get 1 byte per 1 adress, why is memory bus 8 bytes wide?
I have installed Flash player 11.4.402.287 on a "fresh" PC, moments after installing Windows, drivers, directX etc. After installing Flash Player Firefox totally hungs immediatly after run.
First page (adobe page, because it was launched before closing firefox) doen't load. I see new tab but FF goes hung to zero-responsivity, even loading icon stops in single position.
KMPlayer, wich uses firefox also hungs.
How to solve this issue ?
Hello,
I have a csv file which has about 4 million rows and is about 500MB in size. Can you recommend any editor that can open the file without making the system crawl? I tried EmEditor but it is complaining that there are too many characters in a single line.
Thanks.
I know that you can use mysqldump. I am currently dumping the following way:
${MYSQLDUMP} --single-transaction -u ${MUSER} -h ${MHOST} -p${MPASS} $db | ${GZIP} -9 > $FILE
From my understanding this locks the database and prevents any type of use of the database and can even lock up websites. Is there a better way to maybe do daily/hourly backups of the MySQL database should the database be in the 100mbs and even 1gbs in size?
I want to setup another Hyper-V VM for installing Matlabs/doing some compute-intensive programming using C.
I keep thinking that Windows Server HPC 2008 is designed for this sort of work. Would I be on the right track to setup a single VM with this OS and install this software? Or is HPC more for grid/distributed computing?
Thanks
Just successfully installed and ran windows 8 to go on an external usb hdd.
After shutdown and removing the usb hard disk, tried to start my laptop which has a single windows 7 system, but failed to boot and even repair trials didn't succeed.
It seems that win 8 affected the strucure of the laptop hard drive which results in corruption in its main win 7 partition.
How to fix that and avoid future problems of the same type?
thanks.
Hi Everyone,
Is it possible to somehow setup an ssh server that doesn't require a username, password or cert to login? If that's not possible, if I were to give all customers the same public key, would each connection be encrypted individually? (i.e. user A coudn't decrypt the payload of user B's connection)
I wish to provide access to a single program, which will prompt for a username and password.
Encryption is essential though, and users must not be able to snoop in on each other
Thanks
This is something I do frequently
$ mkdir foo
$ cd foo
This works as a single command, but it's more keystrokes and saves no time.
$ mkdir foo && cd foo
Is there a shortcut for this?
Any suggestions of the hardware config for a single frontend WSS3 server? The database is on another server so it will just be running Sharepoint. Raid Config? RAM? Will start as Win2k3 64bit.
Thanks
On a server running Debian Wheezy and Samba ver 3 with a tdb backend, how do I restrict a single user from changing the password? This account is one of 2 generic accounts, one for students and one for Teachers on Call (TOC). The users are created, but I'm not deploying the server yet. When looking through Google, I came across setting the maximum password age, but not setting the minumum password age (I'd be happy with a 5 year password...)
How can I batch-convert files in a directory for their encoding (e.g. ANSI-UTF-8) or line-endings (Windows-Unix) with a command or tool?

I have 3 raw images of what was once a 3 disk RAID5 setup. The hardware has been lost and the configuration is unknown.
Does anyone know of some software that can automatically detect the raid configuration and write a single image out?
I have migrated about 45 mailboxes at this point from our single instance of Exchange 2003 to a High Availability Exchange 2010 environment successfully. However one mailbox moved successfully and the user is able to send and receive e-mail internally and externally with no problems but they do not show up in the Global Address List. The OAB is owned by an Exchange 2010 mailbox server. What am I missing?
I have an Epson stylus printer that suspends printing if any one of the four colors (CMYK) are empty. Its a total waste of money and time because i have to go to the store to replace a single color when all i want to do is print b&w.
Can someone recommend a printer that:
Does not suspend printing when cartridges are low or empty
Uses larger cartridges so i don't have to replace them so frequently
I'm not quite sure if this is possible or not, but I need to force a certain security group's users to have their passwords expire so they'll be forced to change them on next login. The reason for this is because I applied a FGPP (password policy) to this particular group in order to enforce strong passwords. Well, many users have really weak passwords and they won't be changed unless they're forced.
Is there a way to do this without forcing everyone to a single password?
Is it possible to configure nagios to group notifications into a single e-mail? Sometimes when something goes down my inbox gets spammed with all the notifications. It would just be nice if these could somehow be lumped together. Does anyone know if this is possible?
