    Hi, We are trying to make all our blocks and pages static so that designer or anyone else can easily change the content or design of the website, however. There is a feature that uses our own custom module. So, the template that we want to make static is calling methods out of our custom block, for example, <!--some html code--> ..... <?php $this->helpMeBePartOfCMS(); ?> ..... <!--some html code--> How do i incorporate these method calls inside cms block or page?   • Java generic function for performing calculations on integer, on double?

    Is this possible? Surely if you passed in a double, any sort of function implementation code which casts an object to an Integer would not be able to work unless the cast 'Integer' was specifically used? I have a function like: public static void increment(Object o){ Integer one = (Integer)o; system.out.println(one++); } I cant see how this could be made generic for a double? I tried public static <E> void increment(E obj){ E one = (E)o; system.out.println(one++); } but it didn't like it?

  • Simple Java math operations

    I'm making a BMI calculator that doesn't seem to be working. The math operations work if i just do something like w/h, but once i had the brackets, it returns an error. If i change the variables w and h and use a constant number, the operation works. Another problem is that although i'm making result a double, it seems to be rounding to the nearest int.     I'm creating a method specific method for a java project i'm working on. The UML given specifies the return type to be of static byte[] that accepts the arguments (String, byte) So far, looks like this: public static byte[] convertNumToDigitArray(String number, byte numDigits) { } This method is supposed to convert a number (as a String) to an array of bytes. The ordering must go from most to least significant digits. For example, if the number String is “732” then index 0 of the array should contain 7. The last argument (numDigits) should match the length of the string passed in. How do I do this?

    Hi, I am maintaining a fairly large mac project and an iphone client for this project. Some code as well as some images and core data models are shared between these two projects. I want to create a shared framework containing this shared components but to my surprise, frameworks like we cocoa developers known them are not supported on the iphone os. Currently I see the following options: a) Include the files in both projects (much tedious work) b) Create a static library for both projects and manually copying the images/core data models c) Create a static lib for iphone and a framework for mac Any suggestions?

It is only allowed to use one static variable and at most 3 elementary steps, where each step consists of only one basic arithmetic operation of arity 1 or 2.   • Singleton pattern with Web application, Not a good idea!!

    Hi I found something funny, I notice it by luck while I was debugging other thing. I was applying MCP pattern and I made a singleton controller to be shared among all presentations. Suddenly I figured out that some event is called once at first postback, twice if there is two postback, 100 times if there is 100 postbacks. because Singleton is based on a static variable which hold the instance, and the static variable live across postbacks, and I wired the event assuming that it will be wired once, and rewired for each postback. I think we should think twice before applying a singleton in a web application, or I miss something?? thanks

    I normally do this to set a new Map to a private variable: public static void setListaClausulas(Map<String, Clausula> nvLista) { listaClausulas = new TreeMap<String, Clausula>(nvLista); } I suppose this is ok to set a new copy of the nvLista and all it's members and not a reference, is it? But now I have a Map inside another Map and I'm doing this: public static void setListaClausulas(Map<String, Map<String, Clausula>> nvLista) { listaClausulas = new TreeMap<String, Map<String, Clausula>>(nvLista); } Is this the correct way to do it or do you recommend something else? What I want is to set a new copy of nvLista (and all it's elements) and not copy just the reference.

    Hi, Is there any way to check step by step what's going on in let's say template? I mean how it is instantiated step by step and so on?     Hi, How can I setup Eclipse to stop at the point an exception occurred. I have an Eclipse breakpoint setup to break on an exception. In the code example below, the problem I'm having is Eclipse tries to open the Integer source code. Is there any way to just have debugger break at the point shown in my code example? If I move down the stack trace, I will get to this line, it'd be nice if there's a way to do this without the "Source not found" window coming up.   • "Method name expected" error when trying add a handler method to a delegate - C#

    I keep getting the error "Method name expected" when trying add the a method to a delegate. I have a delegate which is invoked when ever my game ends. The function I'm trying to add to the delegate stops a countdown from flashing (the method is in a static class). I've searched about and I'm still unsure why its not working. Here is the line causing the error: LivesManager.gameEnded += new LivesManager.EndGame(CountdownManager.DisableFlashTimer(this)); The this passes the current form to the method so it can disable the timer flash on the form. I have added methods from static classes to the same delegate before and it works fine, the only difference is that I'm passing the form as a paramater and then it doesn't like it. Is there any way to pass the form to the method without the error? Thanks in advance :)
