• Why does my count(*) query time out but the inline view whose records it is counting does not?

  Can't figure this one out... when I execute a select query it shows an explain plan cost of ~4500 and takes ~3 seconds to return. When I wrap that query (no changes) inside of: select count(*) from ( /*query here*/ ) It times out. It's at 5 minutes and counting now. I tried this in SQL Developer and Aqua Data Studio -- same results.

• Oracle: Is there a way to get the column data types for a view?

  For a table in oracle, I can query "all_tab_columns" and get table column information, like the data type, precision, whether or not the column is nullable. In SQL Developer or TOAD, you can click on a view in the GUI and it will spit out a list of the columns that the view returns and the same set of data (data type, precision, nullable, etc). So my question is, is there a way to query this column definition for a view, the way you can for a table? How do the GUI tools do it?

  Hello, I am a seasoned Delphi developer and would like to create something like seamless terminal services where an application is executed on a server but appears on the the desktop of the client. To someone working on the server i don't want them to see the remote application running (except if they looked in at the list of running processes). • Android Emulator won't run application started from eclipse

• Intents? How to register to be alerted for incoming emails?

  Extreme Android developer newbie here...well, new to Android development, not development in general. I want to write an application that gets notified when emails come into the device, and takes various actions based on data in the email (subject, sender, to, etc). I think what I have to do is create a BroadcastReceiver with an IntentFilter. The problem I'm having is figuring out what Intent(s) I need to "listen" for. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Using the browser's developer tools you can see that both boxes have an inherited z-index: auto; I can't reproduce this effect on my website (without using z-index). So, my question is: Why is the gray block under the white one?
