  • jQuery rotator not rotating properly - too much recursion

    - by Matt Nathanson
    I've built a custom jQuery rotator using just basic animation to rotate the 3 Divs (images). I've built the function and then reinitiate the function using it as a call back. Here's the code: function ImageRotate() { var CurrentFeature = "#container" + featureNumber; $(CurrentFeature).stop(false, true).delay(4500).animate({'top' : '330px'}, 3000); var featureNumber2 = featureNumber-1; if ( featureNumber == 1) {featureNumber2=3} var CurrentFeature2 = "#container" + featureNumber2; $(CurrentFeature2).stop(false, true).delay(4500).animate({'top' : '0px'}, 3000); $('#container2').stop(false, true).delay(4500).animate({'top' : '-330px'}, 25); var featureNumber3 = featureNumber+1; if ( featureNumber == 3){featureNumber3=1} var CurrentFeature3 = "#container" + featureNumber3; $(CurrentFeature3).stop(false, true).delay(7500).animate({'top' : '0px'}, 3000); $(CurrentFeature2).stop(false, true).delay(4500).animate({'top' : '330px'}, 3000); $(CurrentFeature).stop(false, true).delay(4500).animate({'top' : '-330px'}, 25); if (featureNumber ==1) {featureNumber=3} else{featureNumber--}; $(CurrentFeature).stop(false, true).delay(7500).animate({'top' : '0px'}, 3000); $(CurrentFeature3).stop(false, true).delay(4500).animate({'top' : '330px'}, 3000); $(CurrentFeature2).stop(false, false).delay(4500).animate({'top' : '-330px'}, 25,ImageRotate()); }; It's worth noting that when calling the function again I also tried making another function called ImageRotate2(); and it did the same thing. It loops, but i get all sorts of funkiness. Edit: I've also tried some answers in the replies and they both leave me with recursion errors each second.

  • GWT AbstractColumnDefinition (Need to add style to certain Columns)

    - by Mario
    I have a column Definition for each colume that extends AbstractColumnDefinition these columns are put in a DefaultTableDefinition. example: NAME | SIZE | RES | DELETE | this style (AT THE END OF THE PAGE ) is added to the column names if you notice all of them are with a cursor pointer , meaning a hand shows up when i hover above each one. my question is would I be able to remove the coursor for delete or in general for a certain column and keeping it for another one .. i tried to do that with each column Definition but there is no such thing as remove or addstyle even to like put my own style. THANK YOU .gwt-ScrollTable .headerTable td { border-bottom:1px solid black; border-left:1px solid #CCCCCC; border-right:1px solid #CCCCCC; cursor:pointer; vertical-align:bottom; }

  • Active menu tabs with codeigniter

    - by CyberJunkie
Which method can be used in Codeigniter to achieve active menu tabs? For example I have a user menu Profile Friends Messages Logout When I'm in the profile controller the URL is domain.com/profile/some_function The Profile tab should be active by changing the background color for example. I would usually add php to the tabs to check for their corresponding URL segment and I would change the style of the active tab. In Codeigniter should I implement a helper? What function can I easily use in tabs?

  • Scroll to a text position in Javascript

    - by Andy
I have a real-time HTML editor, with a textarea on the left for code entry, and a 'preview' DIV on the right to contain the preview of the code entered. At the moment, when editing the code in the left pane, the preview just sits where it is, so often the part of the code you're editing is not in the visible area of the preview (especially when images are involved). My question is how do I make the preview scroll to show the part of the code that's currently being edited? Here is the page I have so far: http://www.caerphoto.com/rtedit.html You'll notice in the source I have a (currently unused) matchPreview() function that tries to match the scroll position of the preview based on the scroll position of the textarea, but obviously if images or large text are involved the two panes no longer match.

  • Cufon selector problems

    - by meep
    Hello StackOverflow. I am using Cufon (http://cufon.shoqolate.com/generate/) to replace some text in a menu. Problem is that I only need to style the first <li> of the first <ul>. I have tried using: Cufon.replace('#menu ul li > a', { fontFamily: 'Christopherhand', hover: { color: '#99c635'}}); With the > seperator, but it does not work. It still replaces the #menu ul li ul li a This is my markup: <div id="menu"> <ul> <li class="current"> <a href="#1">About JW</a> <ul> <li><a href="#2">Subpage 1</a></li> <li><a href="#3">Subpage 2</a></li> <li><a href="#4">Subpage 3</a></li> <li><a href="#5">Subpage 4</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#2">Our Products</a></li> <li><a href="#3">Best Recipes</a></li> <li><a href="#4">Health &amp; Diet</a></li> <li><a href="#5">Our Ads</a></li> </ul> </div> Can anyone see the problem? It should work without adding a class to sub <ul>. :-) Thank you.

  • Dynamically changing background color of specific text without changing other attributes

    - by gsingh2011
I've written a chrome extension to find text on a page based on a regex query. When text is matched, I wrap the matched text in a <span> tag that has the class highlight where highlight only changes the background color to yellow. The issue is that sometimes there are already styles applied to <span> tags in a webpage. For example, the webpage might have this defined: span { font-size: 200%; } So when I insert my <span> tag in another <span> tag, the font-size is actually 400%. Is there an easy way for my code to just change certain properties of the text, like the background color, without applying the webpage's styles twice?

  • Are fluid websites worth making anymore?

    - by Adam
Hey guys, I'm making a website now and I am trying to decide if I should make it fluid or not. Fixed width websites are much easier to make and also much easier to make them appear consistent. To be honest though, I personally prefer looking at fluid websites that stretch to the full width of my monitor. My question comes from the fact that in most modern browsers you can hold control and scroll your mouse wheel to basically resize any website. So is creating a fluid website worth the trouble?

  • Changing url of background image

    - by João Pedro
    I'm doing this interface where I have a lot of buttons that are just a li with a background image like this #menu ul.icons li.nove { background-image:url(images/edit-menu/icons/undo.png); background-size:contain; display:block; margin-top:29px; } <ul class="icons"> <li class="um"></li> <li class="dois"></li> <li class="tres"></li> <li class="quatro"></li> <li class="cinco"></li> <li class="seis"></li> <li class="sete"></li> <li class="oito"></li> <li class="nove"></li> <li class="dez"></li> </ul> I need to create a code where I change the background image of the button when the user clicks it, to show that button its activated, I just need to change url(images/edit-menu/icons/ to url(images/edit-menu/select/ and keep the same filename. I need a way to do this dynamically so I won't have to do it for each of the 10 buttons. Hope I was clear, thanks in advance

  • text-decoration:underline vs border-bottom....

    - by jitendra
What is the difference to use {text-decoration:underline} and {border-bottom:...}? which is easy to style and cross browser compatible? when we should use border-bottom over text-decoration:underline? Would it be good to use border-bottom always in place of text-decoration:underline?

  • Can a stylesheet for handhelds skip loading images

    - by Yeoh Ray Mond
I have a stylesheet for desktops, and another for handhelds. The web page displays some images when displayed on the desktop, but hides those images when displayed on handhelds. The page appears as designed for both desktops and handhelds. When I check the server logs, I find that the handheld is actually still loading the images, just not displaying them. Is there a way to stop the handheld from loading the images entirely, since it doesn't need them, without having to maintain two sets of web pages? Can it be done using just stylesheets? Thanks in advance. Ray Mond

  • Is linking a <div> using javascript acceptable?

    - by jhchawk
I want to link an entire <div>, but CSS2 does not support adding an href to a div (or span for that matter). My solution is to use the onClick property to add a link. Is this acceptable for modern browsers? Example code: <div class="frommage_box" id="about_frommage" onclick="location.href='#';"> <div class="frommage_textbox" id="ft_1"><p>who is Hawk Design?</p></div> My test page is at http://www.designbyhawk.com/pixel. Updated daily. Thanks for the help.

  • How can I make a Twitter style alert stick to the top of the window?

    - by Robert Robb
There is an excellent code example on how to make nice jQuery Twitter style alerts here: http://blog.codecrate.com/2009/10/twitter-style-alerts-in-rails.html $(function () { var alert = $('.alert'); if (alert.length > 0) { alert.show().animate({height: alert.outerHeight()}, 200); window.setTimeout(function() { alert.slideUp(); }, 3000); } }); However, one thing that the code doesn't include is functions to stick the alert div to the top of the window, no matter how far down the page the user has scrolled. I have found a few examples but nothing seems to play nice with this existing code. Any ideas?

  • Wrapping a paragraph inside a div?

    - by LOD121
How do I make my paragraph wrap inside my div? It is currently overflowing outside of the div and I have no idea how to stop the paragraph from overflowing over the edge. I do not want a scroll bar with: overflow: scroll; and the other overflow options don't seem to help here either... I have the following code: div { width: 1200px; margin: 0 auto; } .container { overflow: hidden; } .content { width: 1000px; float: left; margin-left: 0; text-align: left; } .rightpanel { width: 190px; float: right; margin-right: 0; } <div class="container"> <div class="content"> <p>Some content flowing over more than one line</p> </div> <div class="rightpanel"> <!-- content --> </div> </div> Edit: <div class="container"> <div class="content"> <div class="leftcontent"> </div> <div class="newsfeed"> <div class="newsitem"> <p>Full age sex set feel her told. • Web application starter kit

    - by Steve Robillard
I am looking for a site that allows you to input a project name, choose a doctype, a js library etc. and then generates the directory structure and files to start a web project. I know about project deploy, but it is no longer maintained. There was a new one that was created within the last 2 or 3 months, but for the life of me I can't find it either through Google nor my delicious bookmarks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve

  • How to restrict html body width when not displayed on iPhone?

    - by Curyous
I have set up a web page to look good on the small screen of an iPhone, but when viewed on the desktop, and going right across the width of the browser, it looks terrible. Is there a way I can restrict the width to say, 480px when viewed on a big screen? I tried body { margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; max-width:480px; } but it seems to just set the width at 480px, even on an iPhone on portrait mode.

  • Offering text in different sizes

    - by Simon R
This is a general question of sorts, but do you think that it's important to offer text resizing tools on a website, which in essense only effect text as it seems that most browsers offer text resising or more commonly zooming?
