• how to install libssh2 on Centos + pecl

  I use phing as a deployment tool on CentOS and I'd like to use the SshTask, which required libssh2 to be installed. I tried "pecl install ssh2" but that asks me for a libssh2 prefix [/usr?] I noticed that this means I need to install libssh2 first, but yum does not have that package. So my question is: what is the best way to install libssh2 on Centos and then install the pecl extension?

  Although a good tool OpenDB hasn't been updated since 12/2008. The source code shows some recent activity, but still sparse at best. Anyone know of good web based cataloging alternatives? I'm looking to catalog the 500+ software CD's we have. Also, as a side note. OpenDB will handle software, but you have to create a custom media type, which is a PAIN!!!

  In Windows 7, Windows Explorer has a large bar just above the status bar that contains properties of the highlighted item. Is it possible to hide this? It takes up a significant amount of screen space I'd prefer using in the file listing. Also, is it possible to hide the tool bar for the same reason? That's what I'm calling the bar near the top with "Organize, Open, Include in Library, Share With..."

  I don't get it. Why is it so complicated to create a bootable usb from a disc image? Disc images have boot sectors, so why can't you just write the raw LBA values from an image directly to a USB and be done? I haven't see any tool for Windows that lets me do this.

  I really want to run MCollective on my fleet of servers however there are a large number of untrusted users on each machine which makes using MCollective not ideal in my eyes. I'm aware that there is some things you can do to take precaution but I'm not familiar enough with ActiveMQ / want something that's a bit more mindful of similar environments to mine outside the box.   Is there a way to watch Linux boot as though it was a program compiled with GCC on a Linux environment using the -g switch so, say, I can step through the entire boot sequence from GRUB onwards, choosing to step through at C source level or assembly when necessary/desirable, by using GDB or a GDB-like tool? I suspect it would require a virtual machine at least, to watch the boot on a host environment. Any elaboration on this topic of observing a boot would be appreciated!

I like python's fabric or ruby's capistrano but from what I was reading they are more used for deployment purposes and not setting up apache, mysql, update patches etc. I know there are other tools like puppet, but I don't want to setup a master/slave for servers etc., I was hoping there was a more light-weight tool for this.

  I know with readline you can use emacs or vi commands to edit the input of several interactive text programs. I wonder if there exists such a similar facility to control the whole desktop in Gnome or in any other desktop environment. Maybe it could be a program that intercepts keystrokes and process them in the way vi does, translating sequences of characters to desktop commands and delivering to the active window only the text that is writen in insert mode. Do you know some tool like that?

• w3wp.exe process QueryFile failure on Sysinternal Process Monitor

  I am running the Process Monitor tool from sysinternals and I see a lot failures from IIS (w3wp.exe) with Operation QueryFile having a result of "NO SUCH FILE". They are all images in the applications themes directory with web.config appended! example: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\mywebapp\App_Themes\blueTheme\images\icon.png\web.config
