  • ASP.NET MVC: How to Display custom object properties in View page

    I am trying to add ASP.NET MVC features(Especially Routing) to my already existing ASP.NET Web application.I added a Controlled and View (an asp.net page) .Now i want to know how can i display the details of object of my custom class( Ex : User) in the view ? Can assign the object in ViewData collection and render it in the view ? Hows that ? I already have a Datalayer (in ADO.NET) which is running for the the current ASP.NET web app.So i want to use that. I tried this in my controller public ActionResult Index() { BusinessObject.User objUser = new BusinessObject.User(); objUser.EmailId = "[email protected]"; objUser.ProfileTitle = "Web developer with 6 yrs expereince"; ViewData["objUser"] = objUser; ViewData["Message"] = "This is ASP.NET MVC!"; return View(); } How can i use this in the view page to display the user details ?     I have a simple class: public class Runner { public void RunAndForget(RunDelegate method) { ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem(new WaitCallback(Run), method); } private void Run(object o) { ((RunDelegate )o).Invoke(); } } And if I use this like so: private void RunSomethingASync() { Runner runner = new Runner(); runner.FireAndForget(new RunDelegate(Something)); } Is there any danger using it like this? My C++ guts tell me that runner object should be destroyed after RunSomethingASync is finished. Am I right? What happens then to the method running on different thread? Or perhaps it is other way around and runner will not be collected? That would be a problem considering I may call RunSomethingASync() many times.

    Hi all, I use Apache Tomcat's Exist DB as an XML database and am trying to construct a sequence by passing the following xpath, defined in FLWOR's 'let' clause: $xpath := $root/second/third into a locally defined function declaration, like so: declare function local:someFunction($uuid as xs:string?, $xpath as xs:anyAtomicType?) { let $varOne := $xpath/fourth[@uuid = $uuid]/fifthRight let $varTwo := $xpath/fourth[@uuid = $uuid]/fifthLeft let $combined := ($varOne,$varTwo) return $combined }; Of course, when entering this in the exist xquery sandbox, I get Type: xs:anyAtomicType is not defined. What should I use in place of it, or should I do this a different way? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  • Why would a "view" object in Interface Builder prevent my didFinishLaunchingWithOptions method from

    You may have already come across some of my other questions related to question, but I was having an issue with a SplitView iPad app where my application:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions method stopped executing after I went into Interface Builder and changed around the structure of my apps interface. I couldn't figure out what was preventing my didFinishLauchingWithOptions method from executing, but then I removed a "view" object I had in my view heirarchy (shown below) and suddenly my didFinishLauchingWithOptions method started executing again. I've moved passed it now, but I'm still unclear why that would cause the problem. Any ideas why that "view" object would prevent the didFinishLaunchingWithOptions method from executing?

    in code igniter you can type: $query = $this->db->query("YOUR QUERY"); foreach ($query->result() as $row) { echo $row->title; echo $row->name; echo $row->body; } i guess that the query method returns the object it's part of. am i correct? if i am, how do you type the line where it returns the object? so what i wonder is how it looks like inside the query method for the above code to be functional. public function query($sql) { // some db logic here with the $sql and saves the values to the properties (title, name and body) return X } with other words, what should X be?

    I'm using template function: template<typename T> void func(const T& value) { obj->func(value); } where obj is object of class: void my_object::func(int64_t value) { ... } void my_object::func(uint64_t value) { ... } void my_object::func(uint32_t value) { ... } void my_object::func(uint16_t value) { ... } void my_object::func(uint8_t value) { ... } The problem is with uint8_t overload of my_object::func() override. Linker complains about unresolved external symbols to overloads, which should have unsigned char parameter. Should I replace uint8_t overload with unsigned char overload? Edit: Just now noticed, that linker complains about uint64_t and int64_t too. I compile on Windows using MSVC++ 2008 Express.

    Hello, i have the following func: viewModel.unreadCount = ko.dependentObservable(function() { var unreadCount = 0; for (var i = 0; i x< xxxxxxxxxxxx.length; i++) { if (xxxxxx == false) { unreadCount++; } } return unreadCount; }, viewModel); When I use this in knockout JS, I can't do a simple if (viewModel.unreadCount()==0), like this: <div data-bind="visible: viewModel.unreadCount()==0"> It turns out because when I run: <p>${ (typeof viewModel.unreadCount) }</p> I get "function" Any ideas why that is and how I can get it to return an INT so I can do an if statement?     While not a torrent, but some articles can be found on the net about function testing (particularly http://blogs.sun.com/geertjan/entry/gui_testing_on_the_netbeans). However the tools mentioned by them do not seem to be maintained, or don't have a plugin working with the most recent version of Netbeans (6.8). Do you have any function test setup for GUI? What is your level of integration into the development process (IDE integration, ant, etc). Additional candy is that Netbeans is not only the IDE, but the GUI app is also developed for Netbeans 6.8 Platform (so I'm mainly interested in GUI testing NB-platform apps, but tips for any Swing apps in general would be a help too).

  • Duplicate an AppEngine Query object to create variations of a filter without affecting the base quer

    In my AppEngine project I have a need to use a certain filter as a base then apply various different extra filters to the end, retrieving the different result sets separately. e.g.: base_query = MyModel.all().filter('mainfilter', 123) Then I need to use the results of various sub queries separately: subquery1 = basequery.filter('subfilter1', 'xyz') #Do something with subquery1 results here subquery2 = basequery.filter('subfilter2', 'abc') #Do something with subquery2 results here Unfortunately 'filter()' affects the state of the basequery Query instance, rather than just returning a modified version. Is there any way to duplicate the Query object and use it as a base? Is there perhaps a standard Python way of duping an object that could be used? The extra filters are actually applied by the results of different forms dynamically within a wizard, and they use the 'running total' of the query in their branch to assess whether to ask further questions. Obviously I could pass around a rudimentary stack of filter criteria, but I'd rather use the Query itself if possible, as it adds simplicity and elegance to the solution.

  • Why use event listeners over function calls?

    I've been studying event listeners lately and I think I've finally gotten them down. Basically, they are functions that are called on another object's method. My question is, why create an event listener when calling the function will work just fine? Example, I want to call player.display_health(), and when this is fired, the method player.get_health() should be fired and stored so that display_health() has access to it. Why should I use an event listener over simply calling the function? Even if display_health() were in another object, this still doesn't appear to be a problem to me. If you have another example that fits the usage better, please let me know. Perhaps particular languages don't benefit from it as much? (Javascript, PHP, ASP?)

    I am trying to execute a function in Java (from C) that has the following signature: public void execute(int x, int y, int action); My problem is to define the function signature in GetMethodID: env->GetMethodID(hostClass, "execute", "(I;I;I;)V"); The problem I ma getting is: W/dalvikvm( 1849): Bogus method descriptor: (I;I;I;)V W/dalvikvm( 1849): Bogus method descriptor: (I;I;I;)V D/dalvikvm( 1849): GetMethodID: method not found: Lcom/device/client/HostConnection;.execute:(I;I;I;)V I am not sure how to specify the method signature in GetMethodID (for 3 integers as parameters). I saw people use the ";" to separate parameters in other posts for the String and File class, but nothing with primitives like integer. What would be the correct way to do this please? Thank you.

    I have a question about how I setup my BO's. I setup the BO's to contain all of my properties of the object as well as the business logic to satisfy the business rules. I decided to make all of the methods static, but I'm not sure if that was the right decision. Someone told me to split my BO's into an Entity Object of just properties and then a BO of just methods that do business rules, and don't make the methods static. Does anyone have some experience with the way i've set this up? Any examples of how it might work better for future growth? Thanks!

The function is defined in the docs as ClutterActor * clutter_texture_new_from_actor (ClutterActor *actor); The code I have is as follows: [DllImport ("libclutter-glx-1.0.so.0")] private static extern IntPtr clutter_texture_new_from_file (string filename, IntPtr errorData); And I call it like this: IntPtr texture = clutter_texture_new_from_file("myImage.jpeg",IntPtr.Zero); however when called like this in monodevelop on ubuntu I get the following error. Unix Transport Error Eventally I would like to get the error reporting working so I can get the gerror result however firstly I need to get past the Unix Transport Error.

  • Large, high performance object or key/value store for HTTP serving on Linux

    I have a service that serves images to end users at a very high rate using plain HTTP. The images vary between 4 and 64kbytes, and there are 1.300.000.000 of them in total. The dataset is about 30TiB in size and changes (new objects, updates, deletes) make out less than 1% of the requests. The number of requests pr. second vary from 240 to 9000 and is dispersed pretty much all over, with few objects being especially "hot". As of now, these images are files on a ext3 filesystem distributed read only across a large amount of mid range servers. This poses several problems: Using a fileysystem is very inefficient since the metadata size is large, the inode/dentry cache is volatile on linux and some daemons tend to stat()/readdir() it's way through the directory structure, which in my case becomes very expensive. Updating the dataset is very time consuming and requires remounting between set A and B. The only reasonable handling is operating on the block device for backup, copying, etc. What I would like is a deamon that: speaks HTTP (get, put, delete and perhaps update) stores data it in an efficient structure. The index should remain in memory, and considering the amount of objects, the overhead must be small. The software should be able to handle massive connections with slow (if any) time needed to ramp up. Index should be read in memory at startup. Statistics would be nice, but not mandatory. I have experimented a bit with riak, redis, mongodb, kyoto and varnish with persistent storage, but I haven't had the chance to dig in really deep yet.

  • PHP 5.4: disable warning "Creating default object from empty value"

    I want to migrate code from PHP 5.2 to 5.4. This worked fine so far except that all the code I use makes extensive use of just using an object with a member without any initialisation, like: $MyObject->MyMember = "Hello"; which results in the warning: "Creating default object from empty value" I know that the solution would be to use: $MyObject = new stdClass(); $MyObject->MyMember = "Hello"; but it would be A LOT OF WORK to change this in all my code, because I use this many times in different projects. I know, it's not good style, but unfortunately I'm not able to spend the next weeks adding this to all of my code. I know I could set the php error_reporting to not reporting warnings, but I want to be able to still get other warnings and notices. This warning doesn't seem to be effected by enable or disable E_STRICT at all. So is there a way to just disable this warning?!

    I'm querying an underlying PostgreSQL database using Pandas 0.8. Pandas is returning the DataFrame properly but the underlying timestamp column in my database is being returned as a generic "object" type in Pandas. As I would eventually like to seasonal normalization of my data I am curious as to how to convert this generic "object" column to something that is appropriate for analysis. If I remove the [t] and replace with a number (1,2,3,4,etc), the validation works on the appropriate fields. What am I doing wrong?

  • Good code architecture for this problem?

    I am developing a space shooter game with customizable ships. You can increase the strength of any number of properties of the ship via a pair of radar charts*. Internally, i represent each ship as a subclassed SpaceObject class, which holds a ShipInfo that describes various properties of that ship. I want to develop a relatively simple API that lets me feed in a block of relative strengths (from minimum to maximum of what the radar chart allows) for all of the ship properties (some of which are simplifications of the underlying actual set of properties) and get back a ShipInfo class i can give to a PlayerShip class (that is the object that is instantiated to be a player ship). I can develop the code to do the transformations between simplified and actual properties myself, but i would like some recommendations as to what sort of architecture to provide to minimize the pain of interacting with this translator code (i.e. no methods with 5+ arguments or somesuch other nonsense). Does anyone have any ideas? *=not actually implemented yet, but that's the plan.
