  • Using Javascript in Adobe Reader

    - by godleuf
    Hi, I am currently using the following script for a few documents: var pp = this.getPrintParams(); pp.interactive = pp.constants.interactionLevel.automatic; this.print(pp); How do I add another command, say document.close() so that it reads the print function and then follows the close document last? Do I simply add the close command right after the print command so it would read var pp = this.getPrintParams(); pp.interactive = pp.constants.interactionLevel.automatic; this.print(pp); document.close(); Thanks.

  • how to get the value from a CSS class object in javascript

    - by amit
    I have to select an <a> element from the given class of objects. when i click on the anchor tag in the showcase_URL class, i want the jquery function to get the value from <a> tag. How can this be done? I cannot make this an id as I am running a while loop to construct all the elements in php. there would be multiple objects of this class. there is no definite selector through which I can get the value of the anchor tag. Help would be much appreciated. echo '<div id="content">'; echo '<div class="showcase_data">'; echo '<div class="showcase_HEAD">'.$row->title.'</div>'; echo '<div class="showcase_TYPE">'.$row->type.'</div>'; echo '<div class="showcase_date">&nbsp;&nbsp;'.$row->date.'</div>'; echo '<div class="showcase_THUMB" style="float: left;" ></div>'; echo '<div class="showcase_TEXT">'.$row->details.'</div><br/>'; echo '<div class="showcase_URL"><a class="purl" value='.$row->num.'href="'.$row->url.'">PROJECT URL</a></div>'; echo '</div>'; echo '</div>';

  • Cant get description rss tag data with javascript

    - by AdamB
    I'm currently making a widget to take and display items from a feed. I have this working for the most part, but for some reason the data within the tag within the item comes back as empty, but I get the data in the and tags no problem. feed is and xmlhttp.responseXML object. var items = feed.getElementsByTagName("item"); for (var i=0; i<10; i++){ container = document.getElementById('list'); new_element = document.createElement('li'); title = items[i].getElementsByTagName("title")[0].firstChild.nodeValue; link = items[i].getElementsByTagName("link")[0].firstChild.nodeValue; alert(items[i].getElementsByTagName("description")[0].firstChild.nodeValue); new_element.innerHTML = "<a href=\""+link+"\">"+title+"</a> "; container.insertBefore(new_element, container.firstChild); } I have no idea why it wouldn't be working for the tag and would be for the other tags. Here is an example of the rss feed its trying to parse: <rss version="2.0" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/"> <channel> <title>A title</title> <link>http://linksomehwere</link> <description>The title of the feed</description> <language>en-us</language> <item> <pubDate>Fri, 10 Jul 2009 11:34:49 -0500</pubDate> <title>Awesome Title</title> <link>http://link/to/thing</link> <guid>http://link/to/thing</guid> <description> <![CDATA[ <p>some html crap</p> blah blah balh ]]> </description> </item> </channel> </rss>

  • JavaScript inheritance

    - by Tower
    Hi, Douglas Crockford seems to like the following inheritance approach: if (typeof Object.create !== 'function') { Object.create = function (o) { function F() {} F.prototype = o; return new F(); }; } newObject = Object.create(oldObject); It looks OK to me, but how does it differ from John Resig's simple inheritance approach? Basically it goes down to newObject = Object.create(oldObject); versus newObject = Object.extend(); And I am interested in theories. Implementation wise there does not seem to be much difference.

  • getting a key out of a javascript hash

    - by mcintyre321
    I working with the latest draft of the twitter annotations api. An example bit of data looks like status { annotations : [ {myAnnotationType:{myKey:myValue}}, {someoneElsesAnnotationType:{theirKey:theirValue}}, ] } now i want to check a status to see if it has an annotation with myAnnotationType in it. If annotations was a hash instead of an array I could just write var ann = status.annotations.myAnnotationType. But its not so I wrote this instead: function getKeys(obj){ var keys = []; for (key in obj) { if (obj.hasOwnProperty(key)) { keys[keys.length] = key; } } return keys; } function getAnnotation(status, type){ for(var i=0;i<status.annotations.length;i++){ var keys = getKeys(status.annotations[i]); for(var j=0;j<keys.length;j++){ if(keys[j] == type){ return status.annotations[i]; } } } } var ann = getAnnotation(status, "myAnnotationType"); There must be a better way! Is there? PS I can't use jquery or anything as this is js to be used in a caja widget and the container doesn't support external libs

  • JavaScript (SVG drawing): Positioning x amount of points in an area

    - by Jack
    I'm using http://raphaeljs.com/ to try and draw multiple small circles. The problem I'm having is that the canvas has a fixed width, and if I want to draw, say, 1000 circles, they don't wrap onto a 'new line' (because you have to specify the xy position of each circle). E.g. I want this: .................................................. to look like this: ............................ ...................... At the moment I'm doing this: for ( var i = 0; i < 1000; i++ ) { var multiplier = i*3; if ( i <= 50 ) { paper.circle((2*multiplier),2,2); } else if ( i >= 51 && i <= 101 ) { paper.circle((2*multiplier) - 304,8,2); } else if ( i >= 152 && i <= 202 ) { paper.circle((2*multiplier) - 910,14,2); } } For reference: circle(x co-ord, y co-ord, radius) This is messy. I have to add an if statement for every new line I want. Must be a better way of doing it..?

  • SVG Parser in Javascript

    - by jsight
    I believe that at one point, I saw a TinySVG implementation that worked in the browser, using the canvas element as the backend. I found a few sites that appeared to indicate it was at http://fuchsia-design.com/CanvaSVG/, however, that site appears to no longer exist. Is this project (or a similar one) still on the web anywhere?

  • Javascript Onclicks not working?

    - by Georges Oates Larsen
    I have a jQuery application which finds a specific div, and edit's its inner HTML. As it does this, it adds several divs with onclicks designed to call a function in my JS. For some strange reason, clicking on these never works if I have a function defined in my code set to activate. However, it works fine when calling "alert("Testing");". I am quite bewildered at this as I have in the past been able to make code-generated onclicks work just fine. The only thing new here is jQuery.

  • javaScript .splice() not working on correctly

    - by adardesign
    I am setting a cookie for each navigation container that is clicked on. It sets an array that is joined and set the cookie value. if its clicked again then its removed from the array. It somehow buggy. It only splices after clicking on other elements. and then it behaves weird. Thanks much. var navLinkToOpen; var setNavCookie = function(value){ var isSet = false; var checkCookies = checkNavCookie() setCookieHelper = checkCookies? checkCookies.split(","): []; console.log("value passed", value) for(i in setCookieHelper){ if(value == setCookieHelper[i]){ setCookieHelper.splice(value,1); isSet = true; } } if(!isSet){ setCookieHelper.push(value) } setCookieHelper.join(",") document.cookie = "navLinkToOpen"+"="+setCookieHelper; } var checkNavCookie = function(){ var allCookies = document.cookie.split( ';' ); for (i = 0; i < allCookies.length; i++ ){ temp = allCookies[i].split("=") if(temp[0].match("navLinkToOpen")){ var getValue = temp[1] } } return getValue || false } $(document).ready(function() { $("#LeftNav li").has("b").addClass("navHeader").not(":first").siblings("li").hide() $(".navHeader").click(function(){ $(this).toggleClass("collapsed").nextUntil("li:has('b')").slideToggle(300); setNavCookie($('.navHeader').index($(this))) return false }) console.log("init",document.cookie) var testCookies = checkNavCookie(); if(testCookies){ finalArrayValue = testCookies.split(",") for(i in finalArrayValue){ $(".navHeader").eq(finalArrayValue[i]).toggleClass("collapsed").nextUntil(".navHeader").slideToggle (0); } } });

  • Javascript: Inline function vs predefined functions
