  I'm a bit of a UNIX noob, but I'm trying to run the cat command to make a simple text file and it works great, however cat is never exited after making the file. For instance, I type cat ~/mytextfile.txt and hit enter, the file is created but my cursor remains on a blank line.

• Amarok 2.1.1 Does not go to the next song

  Hi, I just updated Amarok from KDE3 version and it looks a bit weird and different. But my problem is after I updated my music collection and started to play it (it is all loaded into my playlist), amarok doesn't start next song after the current song is finished. I have repeat(repeat playlist) and random(random tracks) options enabled. Thanks.

Also, with Windows 7 what are the restrictions on the size of file names? I occasionally get the "file path is too long" error.

• Technet and trying to install Windows Server 2008 R2

  I'm a bit new to Technet and just trying to work my way round things. Firstly I want to install Windows Server 2008 R2 as I believe this is the latest edition - however when I look to download it from Technet, it will only allow me to download the Windows Automated Installation Kit. Does this have Windows Server 2008 R2 embedded in WAIK or is there some other extra step to do? Or am I just doing this all wrong :)

• grep - what arguments do you usually specify?

  My most common grep line is just.. grep -IRl "text" * However I'm kinda getting tired of retyping this over and over - is there some way I can make an alias command so that those arguments are always enabled? And, I was wondering what arguments you usually specify for text searching - my two arguments 'R' for recursion, 'I' for not including binary types like jpg/gif, and 'l' for line number seem a bit too minimal. Which arguments do you use?

  Hi I have no idea on this problem. My wireless connection doesn't work sometimes. I find it's due to my XP and I have no problem with my Win 7 machine. The problem is - Internet Connection a bit slower than usual Limit connectivity issue I use netsh reset for resetting network configurations but it helps sometimes or not help at all. Any ideas? The "New Folder" button in Windows Explorer does not work nor does the shortcut for creating a new folder (ctrl+alt+n) However, I can create a new folder in Explorer by right clicking, selecting NEW, and selecting FOLDER.   OS - Win7 Utlimate 64 bit I have installed the RSA security toolbar used to VPN into my corporate network. I can see that RSA Toolbar is enabled in the Manage Add-Ons window. However I do not see the toolbar when I right-click in the toolbar section in IE. The add-on manger says that the toolbar is loaded but I cant get it to show in the toolbars section Any ideas? TIA

  We have ~300 celeryd processes running under Ubuntu 10.4 64-bit , in idle every process takes ~19mb RES, ~174mb VIRT, thus - it's around 6GB of RAM in idle for all processes. In active state - process takes up to 100mb of RES and ~300mb VIRT Every process uses minidom(xml files are < 500kb, simple structure) and urllib. Quetions is - how can we decrease RAM consuption - at least for idle workers, probably some celery or python options may help? How to determine which part takes most of memory?

• How to replicate wwwroot over multiple IIS web servers with NLB without NAS?

It appears to go through the motions of checking the software because the popup window appears but it never fires up the results in a browser which it used to do in Vista. • Driver Max - Updating drivers that are not digitally signed - good or bad?

  Win7 Home Prem 32-bit I am currently using DriverMax to keep my drivers up to date. Sometimes it suggests that a newer driver is available for download but the driver is not digitally signed. Is it safe to update to an unsigned driver or not? What are the implications of signed vs unsigned drivers? I always create a system restore point before updating any drivers anyway and i know i can rollback a driver.

  I was having a bit of trouble reading the dark red strings of Vim's default color scheme, so I decided to switch to a different one. http://code.google.com/p/vimcolorsch...kboard.vim?r=2 http://files.werx.dk/wombat.vim However, when I set my color schemes to these, not only do they not come out correctly (for example, comments are bright blue), but these 2 somehow come out looking exactly the same! Am I doing something wrong, or are these colors restricted in the terminal so default colors are being chosen?

  Hello, I've just installed ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop its all great but the screen resolution is a bit crap i have it set 1200:800 and when i do xrandr it indicates that the i can have a bigger screen resolution but i dont seem to to be able to increase it more 1200:800. another interesting thing is that xorg.conf does not exist on the /etc/X11/ is there a way to increase the screen resolution for Sony laptops? the graphics card is Intel Graphics Please help!
