  • How to test if a user has uploaded a file ?

    Hello, on a page, i have : if (!empty($_FILES['logo']['name'])) { $dossier = 'upload/'; $fichier = basename($_FILES['logo']['name']); $taille_maxi = 100000; $taille = filesize($_FILES['logo']['tmp_name']); $extensions = array('.png', '.jpg', '.jpeg'); $extension = strrchr($_FILES['logo']['name'], '.'); //Début des vérifications de sécurité... if(!in_array($extension, $extensions)) { $erreur = 'ERROR you must upload the right type'; } if($taille>$taille_maxi) { $erreur = 'too heavy'; } if(!empty($erreur)) { ....................... } The problem is, if the users wants to edit information WITHOUT uploading a LOGO, it raises an error : 'error you must upload the right type' So, if a user didn't put anything in the inputbox in order to upload it, i don't want to enter in these conditions test. i tested : if (!empty($_FILES['logo']['name']) and if (isset($_FILES['logo']['name']) but both doesn't seems to work.   • python unit testing os.remove fails file system

    Am doing a bit of unit testing on a function which attempts to open a new file, but should fail if the file already exists. when the function runs sucessfully, the new file is created, so i want to delete it after every test run, but it doesn't seem to be working: class MyObject_Initialisation(unittest.TestCase): def setUp(self): if os.path.exists(TEMPORARY_FILE_NAME): try: os.remove(TEMPORARY_FILE_NAME) except WindowsError: #TODO: can't figure out how to fix this... #time.sleep(3) #self.setUp() #this just loops forever pass def tearDown(self): self.setUp() any thoughts? The Windows Error thrown seems to suggest the file is in use... could it be that the tests are run in parallel threads? I've read elsewhere that it's 'bad practice' to use the filesystem in unit testing, but really? Surely there's a way around this that doesn't invole dummying the filesystem?

    I was thinking about making a little crop/resize batch processor online, and wanted to know if there was a way for me to do the following: upload image and specify dimensions click "process" and remote app resizes image image downloads automatically locally to wherever it was I uploaded it (say from my desktop), but with a new name (based on the time for example). This would make it so I could host a free image processor that never stored any data other than tempfiles. Is that possible? Something like Rails' send_file method, but I'm using Sinatra and am looking for something in pure ruby. What's the basic concept behind this? What if I wanted to do this for multiple files? Åssuming I can get multiple files uploaded no problem, how can I download all of them automatically?

    Hi everybody, I'm using the python logging module with the "native" configuration file support (config.fileconfig) as describe in the documentation here : http://docs.python.org/library/logging.html (see the logging.conf file) I was wondering if it's possible to supply a tabulated data format in the configuration file? The sample configuration file is the following: [formatter_simpleFormatter] format=%(asctime)s - %(name)s - %(levelname)s - %(message)s I though that using the \t in the format would be enough but it doesn't. format=%(asctime)s\t%(name)s\t%(levelname)s\t%(message)s\t If I do so it print \t in the result. I tried a couple of thing without success. I suppose it's really easy to do but I don't find it! How can I do that?

    Hi All! I have asp.net application, using LINQ to connecto to SQL Server 2008 R2 databse. My connection string: Data Source=[SqlServerIp];Initial Catalog=[databaseName]User Id=newLogin;Password=newPassword; When I deploy application on my local IIS (which is not the same machine as database server) it works fine, but when I deploy application on other IIS (the same machine as sqlServer) it throws an exception: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. Anyone knows how to fix it? Maybe it is due to some bad configuration of IIS? Please help.

Whenever I open a pdf with: Response.Write("<script>window.open('FilePath');</script>"); All of the font in the page is altered, example, the letter's size increases and some of the letter's colors are switched to black instead of the font that I assigned.     Hi, I am a newbee in Perl. I am reading a directory having some archive files and uncompressing the archive files one by one. Everything seems well however the files are getting uncompressed in the folder which has the main perl code module which is running the sub modules. I want the archive to be generated in the folder I specify. When using $tar-extract() it uncompresses in the folder which calls this metohd. when I use $tar-extract_file($arch_file,$dirpath."/$file_name" ) I get an error : No such file in archive: '/home/fsang/dante/workspace/output/s.tar' at /home/fsang/dante/lib/Extraction.pm line 80 Please help I have checked that path and input output there is no issue with it.   • Is there a file diff tool that allows for exceptions?

    We currently use Beyond Compare 3.0 and I am quite pleased with it. However, it would be great if I could easily specify an exclusion for a specific one-time case. This is needed when I am doing a code review of some refactoring. For instance: Old code doSomething(ConstantsInterface.FOOBAR); New code: doSomething(BetterEnumeration.FOOBAR); In this case, I have hundreds of changes that I am reviewing that are essentially all the same exact change and I just want to see the exceptions. It would be great if I could easily specify an exception that indicates these two cases are equal. I know of a way to do it in the grammar, but it is tedious and cumbersome in the case where there are ten or so exceptions. Any other tips?

  • Why so many individual System.Web.* DLLs?

    I've been thinking about ways to refactor a fairly expansive class/utility library I have, and one thing I think I want to do is split off any higher-level helper utilities that introduce new dependencies. I read some previous questions here, and one that I particularly noticed was a comment about how Microsoft freely uses namespaces across DLLs. The example given was System.Web - it's in the base framework, but there's also a System.Web.dll that adds more functionality to the namespace if you want it. I also noticed several other System.Web.* DLLs available, and I was wondering if there's a reason why they wouldn't be combined into a single DLL. Could it be that they have their own individual dependencies and Microsoft (like me) wanted to separate assemblies along those lines? Or is it for easier maintenance? Something else entirely?

When I write another file's content like: file.properties.content.write(content); It works, and the file's contents are copied into my file. But I can't insert string directly, like: file.properties.content.write("Stuff like that"); it gives an exception. How can I write string into this file?

    Hello i Have a programa that has starts in a main sub, it executes some code and after that code it opens a form using System.Windows.Forms.Application.Run(General) General is a form but also a class, so I wonder what it the pros or cons of using : System.Windows.Forms.Application.Run(General) vs Dim gen as general System.Windows.Forms.Application.Run(gen) In the first I am opening a form using the name of the class, and I read that it is best to declare the instance as an object variable.   • system() call returns "Permission Denied" on Windows XP

    I am experiencing a problem with a C program running on Windows XP that is getting Permission Denied (EACCES) errors when it tries to call system(). It doesn't seem to matter what I put in the command string, the commands all work manually but get Permission Denied errors when executed via system() The other interesting thing is that the program works correctly on other XP machines, just not this one. That makes it feel like some kind of OS setting, but I am not totally sure what system() does under the hood and would like to understand what is happening here. Thanks.

  • Recover that Photo, Picture or File You Deleted Accidentally

    Have you ever accidentally deleted a photo on your camera, computer, USB drive, or anywhere else? What you might not know is that you can usually restore those pictures—even from your camera’s memory stick. Windows tries to prevent you from making a big mistake by providing the Recycle Bin, where deleted files hang around for a while—but unfortunately it doesn’t work for external USB drives, USB flash drives, memory sticks, or mapped drives. The great news is that this technique also works if you accidentally deleted the photo… from the camera itself. That’s what happened to me, and prompted writing this article. Restore that File or Photo using Recuva The first piece of software that you’ll want to try is called Recuva, and it’s extremely easy to use—just make sure when you are installing it, that you don’t accidentally install that stupid Yahoo! toolbar that nobody wants. Now that you’ve installed the software, and avoided an awful toolbar installation, launch the Recuva wizard and let’s start through the process of recovering those pictures you shouldn’t have deleted. The first step on the wizard page will let you tell Recuva to only search for a specific type of file, which can save a lot of time while searching, and make it easier to find what you are looking for. Next you’ll need to specify where the file was, which will obviously be up to wherever you deleted it from. Since I deleted mine from my camera’s SD card, that’s where I’m looking for it. The next page will ask you whether you want to do a Deep Scan. My recommendation is to not select this for the first scan, because usually the quick scan can find it. You can always go back and run a deep scan a second time. And now, you’ll see all of the pictures deleted from your drive, memory stick, SD card, or wherever you searched. Looks like what happened in Vegas didn’t stay in Vegas after all… If there are a really large number of results, and you know exactly when the file was created or modified, you can switch to the advanced view, where you can sort by the last modified time. This can help speed up the process quite a bit, so you don’t have to look through quite as many files. At this point, you can right-click on any filename, and choose to Recover it, and then save the files elsewhere on your drive. Awesome! Restore that File or Photo using DiskDigger If you don’t have any luck with Recuva, you can always try out DiskDigger, another excellent piece of software. I’ve tested both of these applications very thoroughly, and found that neither of them will always find the same files, so it’s best to have both of them in your toolkit. Note that DiskDigger doesn’t require installation, making it a really great tool to throw on your PC repair Flash drive. Start off by choosing the drive you want to recover from…   Now you can choose whether to do a deep scan, or a really deep scan. Just like with Recuva, you’ll probably want to select the first one first. I’ve also had much better luck with the regular scan, rather than the “dig deeper” one. If you do choose the “dig deeper” one, you’ll be able to select exactly which types of files you are looking for, though again, you should use the regular scan first. Once you’ve come up with the results, you can click on the items on the left-hand side, and see a preview on the right.  You can select one or more files, and choose to restore them. And keep in mind, DiskDigger is a totally free donationware software from a single, helpful guy… so if his software helps you recover a photo you never thought you’d see again, you might want to think about throwing him a dollar or two.   • Why do we need different CPU architecture for server & mini/mainframe & mixed-core?

    Hello, I was just wondering what other CPU architectures are available other than INTEL & AMD. So, found List of CPU architectures on Wikipedia. It categorizes notable CPU architectures into following categories. Embedded CPU architectures Microcomputer CPU architectures Workstation/Server CPU architectures Mini/Mainframe CPU architectures Mixed core CPU architectures I was analyzing the purposes and have few doubts. I taking Microcomputer CPU (PC) architecture as reference and comparing others. Embedded CPU architecture: They are a completely new world. Embedded systems are small & do very specific task mostly real time & low power consuming so we do not need so many & such wide registers available in a microcomputer CPU (typical PC). In other words we do need a new small & tiny architecture. Hence new architecture & new instruction RISC. The above point also clarifies why do we need a separate operating system (RTOS). Workstation/Server CPU architectures I don't know what is a workstation. Someone clarify regarding the workstation. As of the server. It is dedicated to run a specific software (server software like httpd, mysql etc.). Even if other processes run we need to give server process priority therefore there is a need for new scheduling scheme and thus we need operating system different than general purpose one. If you have any more points for the need of server OS please mention. But I don't get why do we need a new CPU Architecture. Why cant Microcomputer CPU architecture do the job. Can someone please clarify? Mini/Mainframe CPU architectures Again I don't know what are these & what miniframes or mainframes used for? I just know they are very big and occupy complete floor. But I never read about some real world problems they are trying to solve. If any one working on one of these. Share your knowledge. Can some one clarify its purpose & why is it that microcomputer CPU archicture not suitable for it? Is there a new kind of operating system for this too? Why?   • Application Does Not Start in Windows 7

    I recently installed a new 60GB SSD as my primary hard drive and re-installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I then installed SSD Fresh from Abelssoft to optimize Windows to run on the SSD. It seemed to install okay, but when I try to run the utility, its splash screen appears briefly before it quietly closes. No errors are displayed; the utility just fails to launch. I have run SSD Fresh on another SSD-equipped Windows 7 Pro x64 computer in the past without any problems. Does anyone know what might be preventing the program from running? I tried running sfc /scannow from the command line (with administrator privileges), shutting down the Spybot Resident, and disabling the firewall and virus scanner. I also tried running the tool as administrator; I even tried reinstalling it, running the installer as administrator. No luck.
