  • Save list of CGPoints using NSUserDefaults

    - by Chris Daviduik
    I have a bunch of CGPoints from a CCTMXLayer I want to save to NSUserDefaults but cannot seem to figure out an elegant way of doing so. Originally I was hoping to save an NSDictionary with an NSMutableSet for a value containing several NSValues (valueWithCGPoint). From what I can tell neither NSMutableSet or NSValue is supported by NSUserDefaults. At this point I am considering saving the x&y values of the CGPoint as a string and just converting it back and forth as needed.

  • Expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'CGPoint'

    - by Rob
    My project compiles and runs fine unless I try to compile my Unit Test Bundle it bombs out on the following with an "Expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'CGPoint'" error on line 5: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "Force.h" @interface WorldObject : NSObject { CGPoint coordinates; float altitude; NSMutableDictionary *forces; } @property (nonatomic) CGPoint coordinates; @property (nonatomic) float altitude; @property (nonatomic,retain) NSMutableDictionary *forces; - (void)setObject:(id)anObject inForcesForKey:(id)aKey; - (void)removeObjectFromForcesForKey:(id)aKey; - (id)objectFromForcesForKey:(id)aKey; - (void)applyForces; @end I have made sure that my Unit Test Bundle is a target of my WorldObject.m and it's header is imported in my testing header: #define USE_APPLICATION_UNIT_TEST 1 #import <SenTestingKit/SenTestingKit.h> #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "Force.h" #import "WorldObject.h" @interface LogicTests : SenTestCase { Force *myForce; WorldObject *myWorldObject; } @end

  • initWithCoder breaking my touch events (touchBegan, touchMoved, etc)

    - by Adam
    So I have a UIView that has been setup, and in each touch event handler I have an NSLog fire off a message to the console. - (void) touchesBegan:(NSSSet*)touches withEvent:(UIEvent*)event { NSLog(@"touchesBegan"); } And that pretty much works as expected. But once I implement initWithCoder (even blank) - (id)initWithCoder:(NSCoder*)coder { return self; } I no longer receive the message to my console (or can hit breakpoints obviously). This is my first app so I'm probably missing something dumb, but I've looked through various example apps and I don't appear to be missing any code that would re-enable touch events.

  • How to create an iPad directory view like animation?

    - by mahes25
    In the recent iOS 4.2 update, Apple introduced a nice animation for creating one level directories. I am trying to figure out how to implement a similar animation in my project. I would deeply appreciate it if anyone could give me any pointers to do this efficiently. From my investigation, I believe this animation or effect could be done very efficiently using Core Image which would allow me to write a custom filter. Unfortunately, Core Image is not available in iPhone. So how can do it? I read a blog post that explained a core animation scheme to create an iPad flip clock. The problem I have is similar but has important differences. Besides, I not excited about saving the subimage combinations, which I believe can cause a memory issue. Please enlighten me on the possible ways of doing this animation. I am relatively new to iOS programming, so I might have missed obvious ways of doing this animation or effect.

  • UISearchbar issue

    - by hmthur
    I am trying to add a UISearchbar to table header view. I have the icon in nib and have connected the outlets. Now in viewDidLoad, I am writing self.tableView.tableHeaderView = searchbar If i create a local var inside viewDidLoad, it shows up. But not the outlet or ivar one. But for some reason, the UISearchbar does not get displayed in the table. I am not sure what the issue is. Can a UISearchbar not be set in viewDidLoad OR is it something else? Please help.

  • UIScrollView message handler

    - by cs221313
    Hi, all, I want to create a scroll view and put thumbnail view in that scroll view. but I can not get the touchBegan message in my program. My source code is like following. - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; NSError* error; NSString *bundleRoot = [[NSBundle mainBundle] bundlePath]; dirContents = [[[NSFileManager defaultManager] contentsOfDirectoryAtPath:bundleRoot error: &error] copy]; scrollView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:[[self view] bounds]]; scrollView.pagingEnabled = YES; scrollView.showsHorizontalScrollIndicator = NO; scrollView.userInteractionEnabled = YES; scrollView.clipsToBounds = YES; // default is NO, we want to restrict drawing within our scrollview scrollView.scrollEnabled = YES; [scrollView setDelegate:self]; [[self view] addSubview:scrollView]; DLog(@"scroll frame top = %d, left = %d, width = %d, height = %d", scrollView.frame.origin.x, scrollView.frame.origin.y, scrollView.frame.size.width, scrollView.frame.size.height); int i, j; UIView* onePageView = [[UIView alloc] init]; int pageNumber = 0; int iconNumber = 0; for (NSString *tString in dirContents) { if ([tString hasSuffix:@"_chess.png"]) { if(iconNumber == 9) { onePageView.tag = pageNumber + 1; [scrollView addSubview: onePageView]; onePageView = [[UIView alloc] init]; pageNumber++; iconNumber = 0; } j = iconNumber % 3; i = iconNumber / 3; const float WIDTH = 150.0; const float HEIGHT = 150.0; CGRect imageRect = CGRectMake(j * 200 + 50.0, i * 200 + 50.0, WIDTH, HEIGHT); //remove the charactors of "_chess.png". NSString* sgfName = [tString substringToIndex: tString.length - 10]; sgfName = [sgfName stringByAppendingString: @".sgf"]; ThumbnailView *thumbnailImage = [[ThumbnailView alloc] initWithFilename: sgfName frame: imageRect]; thumbnailImage.delegate = self; [thumbnailImage setImage:[UIImage imageNamed: tString]]; thumbnailImage.opaque = YES; // explicitly opaque for performance //[self.view addSubview:thumbnailImage]; [onePageView addSubview:thumbnailImage]; [thumbnailImage release]; iconNumber++; } } pageControl.numberOfPages = pageNumber + 1; pageControl.currentPage = 0; onePageView.tag = pageNumber + 1; [scrollView addSubview: onePageView]; [self layoutScrollPages]; } ThumbnailView class is like following. // // ThumbnailView.m // go // // Created by David Li on 2/18/11. // Copyright 2011 __MyCompanyName__. Can anyone help me? I stucked by this problem by couple days. Thanks so much.

  • Forward horizontal swipe events on UITableView to parent view

    - by D-Nice
    I have a UITableView that I want to have respond to taps and vertical swipes, but still have something like userInteractionEnabled = NO for horizontal swipes. By that I mean, it would not handle touches and pass the touch event back to its superview. Things I've tried that didn't work: returning NO in - (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView canEditRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath Overriding touchesBegan/touchesMoved/touchesEnded and passing the event to the next responder Adding gesture recognizers for horizontal swipes and setting cancelsTouchesInView to YES I've been trying to fix this on and off for several weeks, so any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Send copy of class to view class so it can render him? ( iPhone )

    - by Johannes Jensen
    I'm making a game for the iPhone, and I have a class called Robot. Then I have a class called View, which renders everything. I want to send a copy of my Robot, which I defined in my ViewController, and I send it to gameView (which is View *gameView), like this: robot = [Robot new]; [gameView setRobot: [robot copy]]; I tried to make a copy but that didn't work, I could also do it with a pointer to Robot (&robot) but sometimes it just crashes ? I tried this in my View.h @interface definition: @property (copy) Robot* robot; but I get the error /RobotsAdventure/Classes/View.h:24: error: setter '-robot' argument type does not match property type :/ Help? I'm pretty new at this, heh.

  • iOS6: do we have to set rootViewController in App delegate in order to support different orientations?

    - by Centurion
    The app was perfectly fine working in iOS5 in landscape orientation. However in iOS6, it started to use portrait orientation in all view controllers. The methods shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation are not called anymore. I read the new stuff about changed rotation mechanism in iOS6 and I was able to fix that by adding a line in my AppDelegate: self.window.rootViewController = _viewController _viewControler is the starting screen (Home-menu). All other view controllers implement shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation method and returns YES for landscape orientations only. So, it's perfectly working solution for the app that needs to support only one orientation. However, the problem is I need one view controller (lets call it phone-VC) to be presented in portrait orientation. Now, if I want this view controller would be rotated then I need to return YES in Home-menu controller that is assigned to rootViewControler in appDelegate. However, I can't do that because this rootViewController is starting window that need to presented in landscape only, otherwise the layout with graphics in this window will break. But if I don't return YES from its shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation (Home-menu) then the same method is not called in my view phone-VC that needs to be presented in portrait. Any ideas? Does the assignation of rootViewController is mandatory in AppDelegate? UPDATE: the problem exists on device (at least on iPhone4).

  • How to fix a slow scrolling table view

    - by hanumanDev
    I have a table view that's scrolling slowly. Does anyone know why that might be? There is an image for each row, but even after the images are loaded it still stutters and scrolls slowly. thanks for any help here's my code: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *simpleTableIdentifier = @"SimpleTableCell"; SimpleTableCell *cell = (SimpleTableCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:simpleTableIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSArray *nib = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"SimpleTableCell" owner:self options:nil]; cell = [nib objectAtIndex:0]; } // Get item from tableData NSDictionary *item = (NSDictionary *)[displayItems objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; // display the youdeal deal image photoString = [item objectForKey:@"image"]; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageWithData:[NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:photoString]]]; cell.titleLabel.text = [item objectForKey:@"supercat"]; cell.descriptionLabel.text = [item objectForKey:@"title"]; NSString *convertedLeftCount = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[item objectForKey:@"left_count"]]; cell.amountLabel.text = convertedLeftCount; cell.thumbnailImageView.image = image; cell.priceLabel.text = [item objectForKey:@"cat"]; return cell; }

  • QTMovieView always remains at top

    - by Pickasaby
    I have made an applications which contains a main canvas view. In which i add some subview (NSView) of different kind. Means say subView1 is a container for PDFView, subView 2 is a container for a WebView and subView 3 is a container for QTMovieView. I can select and drag these views on main canvas view. The strange thing that happens is, when ever i drag a subview 1 or 2 and it intersects subview 3, sunbview 3 never allows any other view to come on top of it, coz it contains a 'QTMovieView' . I tried replacing QTMovieView with QTMovieLayer, and then attach a QTMovie with QTMovieLayer, still the problem prevails. Is there any way so that my QTMovieView/QTMovieLayer acts in a normal manner as does other NSView do.

  • CoreData, transient atribute and EXC_BAD_ACCESS.

    - by Lukasz
    I'm trying to build simple file browser and i'm stuck. I defined classes, build window, add controllers, views.. Everything works but only ONE time. Selecting again Folder in NSTableView or trying to get data from Folder.files causing silent EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=13, address0x0) from main. Info about files i keep outside of CoreData, in simple class, I don't want to save them: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface TPDrawersFileInfo : NSObject @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString * filename; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString * extension; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSDate * creation; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSDate * modified; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSNumber * isFile; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSNumber * size; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSNumber * label; +(TPDrawersFileInfo *) initWithURL: (NSURL *) url; @end @implementation TPDrawersFileInfo +(TPDrawersFileInfo *) initWithURL: (NSURL *) url { TPDrawersFileInfo * new = [[TPDrawersFileInfo alloc] init]; if (new!=nil) { NSFileManager * fileManager = [NSFileManager defaultManager]; NSError * error; NSDictionary * infoDict = [fileManager attributesOfItemAtPath: [url path] error:&error]; id labelValue = nil; [url getResourceValue:&labelValue forKey:NSURLLabelNumberKey error:&error]; new.label = labelValue; new.size = [infoDict objectForKey: @"NSFileSize"]; new.modified = [infoDict objectForKey: @"NSFileModificationDate"]; new.creation = [infoDict objectForKey: @"NSFileCreationDate"]; new.isFile = [NSNumber numberWithBool:[[infoDict objectForKey:@"NSFileType"] isEqualToString:@"NSFileTypeRegular"]]; new.extension = [url pathExtension]; new.filename = [[url lastPathComponent] stringByDeletingPathExtension]; } return new; } Next I have class Folder, which is NSManagesObject subclass // Managed Object class to keep info about folder content @interface Folder : NSManagedObject { NSArray * _files; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSArray * files; // Array with TPDrawersFileInfo objects @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString * url; // url of folder -(void) reload; //if url changed, load file info again. @end @implementation Folder @synthesize files = _files; @dynamic url; -(void)awakeFromInsert { [self addObserver:self forKeyPath:@"url" options:NSKeyValueObservingOptionNew context:@"url"]; } -(void)awakeFromFetch { [self addObserver:self forKeyPath:@"url" options:NSKeyValueObservingOptionNew context:@"url"]; } -(void)prepareForDeletion { [self removeObserver:self forKeyPath:@"url"]; } -(void) observeValueForKeyPath:(NSString *)keyPath ofObject:(id)object change:(NSDictionary *)change context:(void *)context { if (context == @"url") { [self reload]; } } -(void) reload { NSMutableArray * result = [NSMutableArray array]; NSError * error = nil; NSFileManager * fileManager = [NSFileManager defaultManager]; NSString * percented = [self.url stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; NSArray * listDir = [fileManager contentsOfDirectoryAtURL: [NSURL URLWithString: percented] includingPropertiesForKeys: [NSArray arrayWithObject: NSURLCreationDateKey ] options:NSDirectoryEnumerationSkipsHiddenFiles error:&error]; if (error!=nil) {NSLog(@"Error <%@> reading <%@> content", error, self.url);} for (id fileURL in listDir) { TPDrawersFileInfo * fi = [TPDrawersFileInfo initWithURL:fileURL]; [result addObject: fi]; } _files = [NSArray arrayWithArray:result]; } @end In app delegate i defined @interface TPAppDelegate : NSObject <NSApplicationDelegate> { IBOutlet NSArrayController * foldersController; Folder * currentFolder; } - (IBAction)chooseDirectory:(id)sender; // choose folder and - (Folder * ) getFolderObjectForPath: path { //gives Folder object if already exist or nil if not ..... } - (IBAction)chooseDirectory:(id)sender { //Opens panel, asking for url NSOpenPanel * panel = [NSOpenPanel openPanel]; [panel setCanChooseDirectories:YES]; [panel setCanChooseFiles:NO]; [panel setMessage:@"Choose folder to show:"]; NSURL * currentDirectory; if ([panel runModal] == NSOKButton) { currentDirectory = [[panel URLs] objectAtIndex:0]; } Folder * folderObject = [self getFolderObjectForPath:[currentDirectory path]]; if (folderObject) { //if exist: currentFolder = folderObject; } else { // create new one Folder * newFolder = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Folder" inManagedObjectContext:self.managedObjectContext]; [newFolder setValue:[currentDirectory path] forKey:@"url"]; [foldersController addObject:newFolder]; currentFolder = newFolder; } [foldersController setSelectedObjects:[NSArray arrayWithObject:currentFolder]]; } Please help ;)

  • Alternatives to UIWebView for rich content?

    - by ojreadmore
    In my app, I am displaying 4 "tabs", each are local content through a UIWebView. I create HTML markup from my simple data. This is slow to load and I'm trying to speed it up. I'm using UIWebView to accomplish these: 1. hyperlinks 2. some styling - font colors 3. HTML tables Writing my own class to handle this is okay for (1.) hyperlinks - I can use a touch event to call a method. And (2.) styling - I can use UILables to do basic formatting, no biggie here. BUT what I really love about the UIWebViews is the (3.) HTML tables! I find it troublesome to line up the UILabels in a way that mimics HTML Tables, for instance, one cell's height in a row changes the height of all cells. I'm looking for another perspective or knowledge of an alternative.

  • Total Size of NSMutableArray object

    - by sj wengi
    Hi Folks, I've got an NSMutableArray that holds a bunch of objects, what I'm trying to figure out is how much memory is the array using. After looking at a couple of places I know about the sizeof call, and when I make it I get 32 bits (which is the size of the NSMutableArray object it self). Example code: NSMutableArray *temp = [[NSMutableArray alloc]init]; [temp addObject:objectxyz]; [temp addObject:objectabc]; [temp addObject:object123]; now I want to know the size :) Thanks, Sj

    - by Code
    Hi guys, I'm trying to work out an app design in my head and I would like the user to be able to click there destination address on the map of there area. If I know the user is in Liverpool is it possible to pop up the map over liverpool and then allow the user to select on the map where they wanna go, and the google map/api return the street or the name of the area? I've never used googlemap/api yet so just wondering if this kind of thing is possible on the iphone yet. Many Thanks -Code
