    I wondered how certain .NET hosting providers can safely grant full trust to their customers? Doesn't this open up everybody who is hosting with that company to potential safety issues? Or is there a way to safely restrict each customer, despite giving full trust, to "their" space without giving them the abiliy to bring down the system or spy on other customers?

The Shared Folders MMC Snap-in does this visually, and SysInternals' PSFile does it from the command line, but by default only for admins. I want to let regular users do this, too. What permissions do I need to grant them?

    I have a user that has rights to change permissions within a certain folder on a Windows Server 2003 network share. Although I grant this person the rights to change permission and ownership this person cannot change any permissions. The network share is also set to allow everyone full control. (I understand it is bad practice yet this is how it was first configured) Is there any reason why this domain user cannot modify permissions on the folder and files they create?

  • MySQL asking a user for SUPER privilege to perform a delete.

    Hello, When trying to do a delete operation on a table, mysql reports the following error: Error code 1227: Access denied; you need the SUPER privilege for this operation. However, my user has this privilege granted for all tables in the schema: GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON myschema.* TO 'my_admin'@'%' How come it asks me for SUPER privilege for a delete?     i have made columns in some of the tables encrypted in sql server 2008. Now as i am a db owner i have the access to encode and decode the data using the symmetric key and certificate. But some other users have only currently datareader and datawriter rights ,and when they execute any SP referring the logic which uses the key and certificate "User does has not right on the certificate to execute". What rights / exact permission should i grant them just to solve this problem

  • Images not accessible in localhost using wamp in windows 7

    I Installed wamp in windows 7 pro, and copied a joomla live site. Everything seems working well except that it doesn't load the images on the page. Even when I try to access in directly: localhost/logo.png Im getting an 403 Forbidden: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /logo.png on this server. Solutions I have tried are: Using icacls to grant priviledge Folder Permissions Issue in Windows 7 manually set the permission by right clicking the image and editing the security.

    I've had a few issues where users have mistakenly created public synonyms which have led to people thinking some objects are in one schema when they're actually in another schema. Everyone knows they should be using private synonyms, but occasionally they forget or they make a mistake and someone gets burned. Is it possible to GRANT users the permission to create private synonyms but disallow public ones?

    I have an IIS server running a site, appPool is running under local system, this is done because its easier to have full permissions to certificates and other file based resources on the local server. Problem is when I try write or copy a file to a network share, permissions are obviously not in place on the remote system for the IIS server local system. Is it possible to grant permissions on the remote system to include read/write or even full access to the IIS servers local system account?

    In my Small Business Server 2003 environment, I would like to be able to have users manage their own delegate permissions for their Exchange mailboxes. By default, the Outlook delegate feature will not work unless I go to the user object in Active Directory and grant Allow on "Write Personal Information" to SELF. This will work temporarily, but something seems to reset this value shortly afterword. What would cause this automatic reset?

    I have installed and configured in private server a local git repository using Gitorious. The problem I am facing is that when I set up a new Gitorious project and limit read access permissions to specific users, the repositories inside the project are not visible any more.   • De-share third level .name domain

    Sometime ago I registered a third level .name domain of the type john.doe.name (this is just an example-my domain is not actually john.doe.name). I just realised that I could have registered the entire second level domain doe.name, which would grant me control of the third level one anyway. Since I already registered the third level, doe.name is now "shared". I have 2 questions: 1) How do I check if I am the only one using the shared second level domain? (normal whois lookup doesn't give any result) 2) Can I "de-share" the domain and buy the entire second level domain? Cheers!
