  I have two enumerables with the exact same reference elements, and wondering why Equals wouldn't be true. • Setting the primary key of a object type table in Oracle

  I have two Oracle questions. How can I set the primary key of a table when the table is made up of an object type? e.g. CREATE TABLE object_names OF object_type I have created a Varray type, CREATE TYPE MULTI_TAG AS VARRAY(10) OF VARCHAR(10); but when I try to do SELECT p.tags.count FROM pg_photos p; I get an invalid identifier error on the "count" part. p.tags is a MULTI_TAG, how can I get the number of elements in the MULTI_TAG?

• (C#) iterate over read-only private collection member

  I have a class which has two HashSet collections as private members. Other classes in my code would like to be able to iterate over those HashSets and read their contents. I don't want to write a standard getter because another class could still do something like myClass.getHashSet().Clear(); Is there any other way to expose the elements of my HashSets to iteration without exposing the reference to the HashSet itself? I'd love to be able to do this in a way that is compatible with for-each loops.

• What's viewport mean to the jQuery guys?

  I came here intent on asking a 'how do i' type question focused on a particular UI problem i have to solve and i started using the term 'viewport'. Seems there's lots of contexts that tag evokes. Before i outline mine i should ask - is there a generally recognized consensus as to what a 'viewport' is? Any gallery or object browser that focuses on a UI principle where multiple frames/panes show feeds of different graphs where each feed might be a complex grid/graph? I'm imagining something where my page may open with a half dozen different grids (tabular data) stay updated via ajax interactions with various servers. UI elements provide control scale up or down a given grid with a quasi accordion slide kinda thingie. For example, one click on a scale up-or-down control would rescale the other viewports in the opposite direction. More clicks - more pronounced effect. So my 'how do i' question morphs into a 'how have others...' thx

• iPhone NSXMLParser parsing string and storing in a NSNumber variable and different data types

  Hi, I am trying to parse a XML File using NSXMLParser, I also have a Container class, in which I have a few instance variables. One of the elements that I am trying to parse in the XML is: <book sn="32.859669048339128" pn="-116.917800670489670"> I am trying to save the value of sn and pn in an instance variable of object Container: NSNumber *sn, NSNumber *pn. I want it so that when my parser get the attributeValues it can save it as a Double (or float) in those NSNumber pointers. Right now, all it does it just saves a string to the NSNumber. The Parser Code looks like this: if([elementName isEqualToString:@"book"]){ container = [[Container alloc] init]; container.sn=[attributeDict objectForKey:@"sn"]; container.pn=[attributeDict objectForKey:@"pn"]; } I want it so that the type of container.sn is initialized to a float or double.   Working with Unity, I thought it would be a good idea to create some LiveTemplates to help out with creating configuration entries. For example, I want to create some typeAlias elements in a file called "unity.config": <typeAlias alias="QueryService" type="type,QueryAssembly"/> So, I created a live template: Shortcut: typeAlias Available "in all files" <typeAlias alias="$ALIAS$" type="$TYPE$,$ASSEMBLY$"/> the unity.config file is an XML file. I put the cursor in an empty spot and type "typeAlias" and then the tab key. Nothing happens. Any ideas?

• How to access the Principal from a Java service object without using FlexContext?

  We're building some Java objects that are exposed via BlazeDS to our flex client application. So basically the BlazeDS messagebroker servlet instantiates and invokes methods on these objects in response to client requests. Works great. We're using app server-based authentication and have set up a security constraint on the <destination> elements in the remoting-config.xml file element to prevent unauthenticated clients from being able to access these remote java objects. Again, works fine. However, there are several places within the implementation of these java objects where we want to get the currently logged on user's username. Right now we are doing this via FlexContext.getUserPrincipal(), which gives access to this but we have a nagging concern that we don't like the idea that the implementation of these objects (the service layer) has a hard dependency on a BlazeDS class. But we're not sure how else to get access to this. The same applies to accessing the ServletContext and such. Any ideas?

  I have a various data.frames with columns of the same length where I am trying to multiple 2 rows together element-wise and then sum this up. What I would like to do is skip the multiplication with any missing values ( the 10th and 11th position from my above example), and then after the addition divide by the number of elements that were multiplied (11 from the above example). Most rows are complete and would just be multiplied by 13. Thank you!

Given this XML: <people count="3"> <person>Bill</person> <person>Joe</person> <person>Susan</person> </people> Is it possible in an XSD to force the @count attribute value to be the correct count of defined elements (in this case, the person element)? The above example would obviously be correct and the below example would not validate: <people count="5"> <person>Bill</person> <person>Joe</person> <person>Susan</person> </people>

• jqGrid footer cells "inherits" CSS from cells in the main grid

  I have a footerrow in my jqGrid where I sum up the values in some of the columns. I set the footer using the 'footerData' function when the grid has completed loading. This requires the 'footerrow' property in the grid-options to be set to 'true'. Some of the columns which I don't sum up have CSS applied to them (to show some icons in the cells), which is set using the 'classes' property in the colModel API. The problem is that these CSS-classes are also applied to the cells in the footerrow. I don't want them applied there, but I don't know how to prevent them from being shown. I tried to use jQuery to remove the 'class' property from the td elements after calling the 'footerData' function. The problem is that while the grid is loading, the icons are flashed to the user. How can I prevent the CSS from being applied in the first place?

  When creating functions that use strsplit, vector inputs do not behave as desired, and sapply needs to be used. This is due to the list output that strsplit produces. Is there a way to vectorize the process - that is, the function produces the correct element in the list for each of the elements of the input?   my site has three div elements, header, content and footer. i have a picture in header, and i want, that under big resolutions too it looks nice. so i take big image, with 1800px width. by so it looks nice in resolution of 1800, but now, in small resolutions(for example 1024), it shows only first 1024px of my picture, but i want it to show the center 1024px of picture. so is there any way, to set the backgound-image very big, but in small resolutions show center part of image? #header { background-image:url(../img/bg_header1.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; height:357px; width:100%; } thanks in advance

• FF extension: a popup with dynamic menuitems, with each menu item having another popup

  I am building an extension that has a popup whose elements are constructed by a function call everytime the mouse hovers over the popup option. I am able to achieve this. Now I need to have a popup for each of the menu item (inside the original popup) which is not dynamic though.   i am planning a simple, dual-language website and i'd like to use a .net based cms but i can't find anything suitable. i have experience with dotnetnuke and sharepoint but neither fit the bill - dotnetnuke does not do dynamic site elements multi-lingually & sharepoint is a monster PITA no matter what angle you look at it :). i am on the verge of choosing Joomla! & Joom!Fish. they fit the bill nicely, with one exception: i would like to create some cms plug-ins and i would much prefer to write them in .net. any suggestions?

• ASP.Net MVC 2: How to keep values in the model between posts

  I have an edit view that is displaying some model properties as plain text and other model properties as input fields. My problem is that the model properties displayed as plain text are null when the model is returned to the view after a validation error. How do I retain the model values when I don't have input fields for all properties? What is best practice? My first thought is to keep the values of these properties in hidden input elements. <%= Html.HiddenFor(model => model.CustomerName) %> Is this considered a correct solution? Thanks Andreas

• I've only programmed in AS3; What's the easiest practice in Flash CS4 to create simple animations?

  So I've been using Flash for awhile, but rarely ever use the authoring tool. I want to create a quick little slideshow in which a user clicks buttons, and assets on the screen fade in an out as you move from slide to slide. I don't want to do this programatically...what's the quickest route to go about doing this, with using some AS3 but primarily relying on CS4's authoring tools? I remember when I first learned flash, years ago, you placed elements on stage and stretched them out over multiple frames. That seems like a lot of work...I'd rather just have, say, 10 total frames, each frame being a step in the slideshow, and each click of the next button going to that next frame, with each frame having its own animations.

• Silverlight 4 RichTextBox - can't restore Xaml with text containing curly braces

  We have a Silverlight application using the RichTextBox as a rich text editor for the user to create emails. We actually have our own serializer but essentially we are saving and restoring the Xaml. As far as I can tell it is impossible to restore any text containing curly braces. You can demonstrate this fairly easily by creating a RichTextBox and typing something similar to "{weird}" into it. Then take the .Xaml property of the textbox and set it on the .Xaml property of another textbox - kablooie. As we have our own serializer I have tried escaping the Text member of the Run elements with "". This makes no difference. I've tried replacing the braces with &#123; but that doesn't work either.

  I am using a dropdown list as follows. <%=Html.DropDownList("ddl", ViewData["Available"] as SelectList, new { CssClass = "input-config", onchange = "this.form.submit();" })%> On its selection change I am invoking post action. After the post the same page is shown on which this drop down is present. I want to know about the HTML attribute for the drop down which will let me preserve the list selection change. But as of now the list shows its first element after the post. e.g. The dropdoen contains elements like 1,2,3,etc. By default 1 is selected. If I select 2, the post is invoked and the same page is shown again but my selection 2 goes and 1 is selected again. How can preserve the selection? Thanks, Kapil

Basically, iterate through a list and add elements to one list until some condition kicks in, and add the rest to another list. Is there a better way e.g. using linq ? CheckCondition() is expensive, and the lists can be huge so I'd prefer to not do anything that iterates the lists twice.

  I've already done some extensive search, but I can't seem to find anything matching my problem. The task I'm currently working on is to create a WCF-Wrapper for some DCOM-Objects. This already works great for the most parts, but now I'm stuck with one invocation that expects a VT_ARRAY containing VT_RECORD-Objects. Marshalling as VT_ARRAY is not a problem, but how can I tell COM that the elements in this array are VT_RECORDs? This is the invocation as I current use it. InitTestCase(testCaseName, parameterFileName, testCase, cellInfos.ToArray()); The parameter I'm talking about is the last one. It's defined as List<CellInfo>, CellInfo itself is already attributed with Guid("7D422961-331E-47E2-BC71-7839E9E77D39") and ComVisible(true). It's not a struct but a class. This is the condition failing on the native side: if (VT_RECORD == varCellConfig.vt)... Because of old software using these interfaces, changing the native side is not an option Any idea?

• How to make a table in Silverlight ?

  So I'd like to make a visible table, with a border around each cell and a different background color for the header. I'd like to eventually insert controls into this. For example, put a textfield inside one of the table elements, or some radio buttons, etc. Is there a control for this? I've narrowed it down to two possibilities, but they both seem kind of "meh": use the Grid Control - I like this but is there a way to color the border on the cell (I did not find this) use the DataGrid Control - this control is just way too complicated for what I need. I'm just looking for an html style table in silverlight, any ideas?
