    When debugging SharePoint2010 project, you need to attach w3wp.exe process, however there are often quite a few of them and it is very hard to figure out which one to attach. Today, I will show you how to find out which process to attach using a tool called process explorer. 1. Download the process explorer and run it after you download it. 2. Find the w3wp.exe processes under wininit.exe right-click the columns header and click Select Columns. 3. Include Command Line under Process Image. 4. Now you can see your IIS site name next to w3wp.exe, in my case I’d like to attach the “SharePoint – BenDev80″.You can see the PID of the process is 2920. 5. From the above process you know the process ID you’d like to attach is 2920, you can then go ahead to attach the process from Visual Studio.

    Hi All, I am planning to develop an iphone app which makes use of image filters like blurring, sharpening,etc. I noticed that there are few approaches for this one, Use openGL ES. I even found an example code on apple iphone dev site. How easy is openGL for somebody who has never used it? Can the image filters be implemented using the openGL framework? There is a Quartz demo as well posted on apple iphone dev site. Has anybody used this framework for doing image processing? How is this approach compared to openGL framework? Don't use openGL and Quartz framework. Basically access the raw pixels from the image and do the manipulation myself. Make use of any custom built image processing libraries like this one. Do you know of any other libraries like this one? Can anybody provide insights/suggestions on which option is the best? Your opinions are highly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Installshield Development Error durring the Installation process

    Hey guys, I've been stuck by a problem for the past couple days that makes no sense to me. My installer builds fine in the Installshiled IDE but when it is about to finish the installation, int gets two errors then rollbacks: installation failure. Right when the install bar is at about 100%, an error box pops up that states this: "Error 1001.Exception occurred while initializing the installation: System.IO.FileLoadException: Attempt to load an unverifiable executable with fixups (IAT with more than 2 sections or a TLS section.) (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131019)." The box pops up once, then the installer flashes its status to "rollback" then pops up another error box, then once 'ok'ed it procedes to rollback as usual. The installers that I've tried(and failed) have always needed to be Setup.exes, when i try to build a .msi only setup I get this error message. It may help someone who knows more about this system than I do. Your project contains InstallShield prerequisites. A Setup.exe setup launcher is required if you are build a release that includes InstallShield prerequisites. Change your release settings to build Setup.exe, or remove the prerequisites from your project. -7076 There's nothing on the site that has anything from the error code, so I'm at a loss.   • How to process a .proto file using protobuf-net

    I have stated using the protobuf-net lib to communication between some of the programs I'm maintaining. I have also been able to decode messages from C# to Ruby. My ruby ProtoBuf lib is using a .proto file to generate the ruby code. In the interest of having to make changes in as few places as possible I would like to have protobuf-net use the same .proto file. Looking though the protobuf-net folders there is a Dll named ProtoBufGenerator and the protobuf exe but I cant find any instructions on if I can make protobuf-net work this way. Is this possible?

    I really don't want to rile anyone's feathers and I really enjoy blogs like Joel, Coding Horror, Scott Hanselman, etc. However, what are some good blogs/podcasts that focus on other platforms besides Microsoft based ones or maybe even no particular platform at? In particular I am interested in areas like Python, Ruby, Java, C, but any area besides Microsoft fits the bill. There may be other similar questions to this but I think this one is unique since we might get some answers we wouldn't see otherwise, that is, everyone knows Coding Horror is great. Please try to refrain from religious debates; the content of the blog is more important than the platform they are talking about, I just want to get an idea of what is out there and worth the time.

    Hi: This is a strange problem I encountered. I have an window application written in c# to do testing. It has a MDI parent form that is hosting a few children forms. One of the forms launch test cripts by creating processes and capture the scripts output to a text box. Another form open serial port and monitoring the status of the device I am working on(like a shell). If I ran both of them together, the output of the script seems only appear in the text box after the test is done. However, If I don't open the serial port form, the output of the script is captured in real time. Does anyone knows what's causing the problem? I notice the onDataReceived even handler for serial port form has a [SAThread] header to it. Will this cause the serial port thread having higher priority than other processes? Thanks in advance.

We have implemented the logic for that and already two or more player are able to play the game simultaneously on single device. Now we want to upgrade our application so that two or more user can compete each other playing from different device and different locations. Can anyone please help me by providing me the way (or code) to achieve this (communicating two blackberry devices over the air to access single session programmaticaly)? I found the code to connect two device using Bluetooth but as the player may situated in different geographic regions we need to achieve this using over the air connection. Thanks in advance.     I need to generate an event when a file is closed by another app. Unfortunately, ReadDirectoryChangesW doesn't report the close event. It would be possible for me to poll (with a TTimer) any file that reported by ReadDirectoryChangesW as modified, waiting for it to be closed (using CreateFile to detect this). However, what I'd prefer is a completely event driven solution. Is there a way to hook system calls and detect all file closing events? I simply want to know the path & name of any file that has just been closed.

  • asp.net connection reset with long running process

    In an asp.net web form, I keep getting a connection reset error message. The page is doing a some long running processing (about 2-5 minutes). I have no problem when the web request comes from the same machine as the web server. But when the request originates across the network, I get a connection reset error about 1:30 or 2 minutes into waiting for a response. I have set the in web.config for this application and put the application it's own application pool. What else can I try?

    How bad is it to use Location Manager to retrieve the location information when MapView.showUserLocation is also TRUE? I have a situation where i want to show the blue dot to indicate the user's current location, and i want to record the user's current location after some time interval. Having said that, there may be situations where the user's current location is now being shown, but i still want to get the user's current location. I think i'll have to use the Location Manager in my controller class, but setting showUserLocation = YES would mean that i'll be draining more battery since two Location Managers are working at the same time? Is this assumption correct?
