  I am creating some tag functionality for a forum using linq2sql, and I have two tables [Tag] TagId TagName [ForumTagRelation] TagId ForumId I would like to retrieve, like SO, the most popular tags. I have tried to do this by: List<Tag> popularTags = db.Tags.Select(x => x.ForumTagRelations.GroupBy(y => y.TagId).OrderByDescending(z => z.Count())).Take(count).ToList(); But this just returns the following error: Error 1 Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Collections.Generic.List<System.Linq.IOrderedEnumerable<System.Linq.IGrouping<System.Guid?,SampleWebsite.ForumTagRelation>>>' to 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable<SampleWebsite.Tag>'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?) The question is how I easily can return a list of tags which has the most counts in the ForumTagRelation table?

  Is it possible to define a virtual directory in IIS and somehow make the files in that directory relative to the physical directory and not to the virtual directory ? For instance on my server I have the following folders: D:\WebSite\Css\myTheme.css, D:\WebSite\Images\image1.jpg I created a virtual directory on IIS resources.mysite: Inside my website I reference the sheet like this resources.mysite/myTheme.css But inside myTheme.css I reference pictures from ../Images/images1.jpg. So the problem is that image1.jpg is not found because it is relative to the physical folder and not the virtual folder on IIS. Can I solve this problem without modifying the style sheet ?

• Swapping UIImages causing 'unrecognized selector sent to instance' ?

  Error: [__NSCFDate drawAtPoint:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0xd251e0 Termininating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException' Scenario: for the most part this works. But I notice this error, even on the simulator, when I swapping UIImages, slowly, but consistently. For example, I have a retained reference to a UIImage that im drawing. By the click of a picker control I am changing the face image (this occurs in another view-controller). I can consistently recreate this error by continuously changing the faces. It usually crashes at about the 4th swap or more. My theory: It's not loading the image, therefore the image reference is nil. I know ive read a bit about UIImage being cached, so I wouldnt think im running out of memory. Any ideas? Thanks!

• How to sort a Ruby Hash by number value?

  Hi everyone, I have a counter hash that I am trying to sort by count. The problem I am running into is that the default Hash.sort function sorts numbers like strings rather than by number size. i.e. Given Hash: metrics = {"sitea.com" => 745, "siteb.com" => 9, "sitec.com" => 10 } Running this code: metrics.sort {|a1,a2| a2[1]<=>a1[1]} will return a sorted array: [ 'siteb.com', 9, 'sitea.com', 745, 'sitec.com', 10] Even though 745 is a larger number than 9, 9 will appear first in the list. When trying to show who has the top count, this is making my life difficult. :) Any ideas on how to sort a hash (or an array even) by number value size? I appreciate any help.

  Hi. I'm working on a 64-bit Linux system, trying to build some code that depends on third-party libraries for which I have binaries. During linking, I get a stream of undefined reference errors for one of the libraries, indicating that the linker couldn't resolve references to standard C++ functions/classes, e.g.: librxio.a(EphReader.o): In function `gpstk::EphReader::read_fic_data(std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > const&)': EphReader.cpp:(.text+0x27c): undefined reference to `std::basic_ostream<char, std::char_traits<char> >& std::__ostream_insert<char, std::char_traits<char> >(std::basic_ostream<char, std::char_traits<char> >&, char const*, long)' EphReader.cpp:(.text+0x4e8): undefined reference to `std::basic_ostream<char, std::char_traits<char> >& std::__ostream_insert<char, std::char_traits<char> >(std::basic_ostream<char, std::char_traits<char> >&, char const*, long)' I'm not really a C++ programmer, but this looks to me like it can't find the standard library. The shared object major number is 6, same as for v3.4.9. At this level, shouldn't this be backward compatible? It seems like the third-party library is looking for an earlier version of the standard library than what I have installed; but isn't there backward compatibility between versions with the same major number for the shared library? Again, I'm not really a C++ programmer; but I don't see what the problem is. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  I have created a Web Control in ASP for use in integrating with Telligent CommunityServer. The control is written in ASP with some 10 lines of C# backend for controlling visibility of the UI elements based on permissions, but I'd say 90% of the functionality is straight-up Javascript. The control works beautifully, until you drop two instances of the Control on the same page--since they reference the exact same Javascript functions, only one control works. How can I take this functionality that I have, this 1200 lines of Javascript, and make it so that each instance of the control can reference its each unique instance of Javascript?

I am programming a program to search the name from the list and I need to find them even if the keyword is not in front of the names (that's what I mean non-prefix) e.g. if I my list is the music instruments and I type "guit" to the search textbox.   Can anybody explain the difference in Haskell between the operators ($) and ($!) (dollar sign vs dollar sign exclamation point)? I haven't seen the use of $! anywhere so far, but while browsing through the Haskell reference on www.zvon.org, I noticed its existence and that it has the exact same definition as $. When trying some simple statements in a Haskell interpreter (ghci), I couldn't find any difference, nor could I find any reference to the operator in the top listed tutorials when googling for haskell tutorial. So, just out of curiosity, what is the difference, if at all?

• Funny characters in my db

  My web app is breaking when I try edit a certain content type and I'm pretty sure it is because of some weird characters in my database. Table "comments" has "user" field with user's id of that comment. What is optimal way to count number of comments by every user? With php you should write script that selects every user and than count number of his comments and then update "comments" field. It is not hard for me, but boring. Is it possible to do it without php, only in MySQL?

  Hi, We use the asp.net UpdatePanel and the ScriptManager/ScriptManagerProxy for ajax related functionality; reducing full page refreshes and calling WCF Services respectively. we also use jQuery and plugins for some parts of the UI. We have had some issues with javascript library related conflicts, but have come across some posts indicating that there is a lot more overhead using the UpdatePanel. I have found some limited reference to UFrame: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet/uframe.aspx www.codeplex.com/uframe Is this a commercially viable replacement for the asp.net UpdatePanel? We use a ScriptManagerProxy to reference WCF services and easily create and use a proxy to call the various WCF service methods. Would using jQuery ajax be a more efficient solution here? We have got this working well on various browsers but now seem to be getting some security related issues (as seen in FF Firebug: Access to restricted URI denied" code: "1012) which seem to have started since using jQuery a lot more. Is it possible/viable to not use ASP.NET Ajax at all?

  I'm not sure if this is possible, and I'm quite new to using assemblies in C#.NET. What I would like to do is to create an instance of a class when supplied the string name of that class. Any thoughts? EDIT: After attempting: var myObject = (AbstractType) Activator.CreateInstance(null, myTypeName); AssignInitialValues(myObject); I get a number of errors: Inconsistent accessibility: parameter type 'MyAssembly.AbstractType' is less accessible than method 'MyNameSpace.MyClass.AssignInitialValues(MyAssembly.AstractType)' 'MyAssembly.AstractType' is inaccessible due to it's protection level The type or namespace name 'MyAssembly' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) The new compiler error is this: Cannot convert type 'System.Runtime.Remoting.ObjectHandle' to 'MyAssembly.AbstractType' The line it references is this one: var myObject = (AbstractType) Activator.CreateInstance(null, myTypeName); Using .Unwrap() get's me past this error and I think it's the right way to do it (uncertain). However, when running the program I then get a TypeLoadException when this code is called. TypeLoadException: Could not load type ‘AbstractType’ from assembly ‘MyNameSpace'... Right away I can spot that the type its looking for is correct but the assembly it's looking in is wrong. Looking up the Activator.CreateInstance(String, String) method revealed that the null as the first argument means that the method will look in the executing assembly. This is contrary to the required behavior as in the original post. I've tried using MyAssembly as the first argument but this produces the error: 'MyAssembly' is a 'namespace' but is used like a 'variable' Any thoughts on how to fix this?

As I'm designing my schema, I'm concerned about this statement from the MongoDB Schema Design - Embed vs. Reference Documentation: If the amount of data to embed is huge (many megabytes), you may read the limit on size of a single object. This will surely happen if I understand the statement correctly. So the question is, I am correct to assume that I should not embed the Feed Entries within a Feed because I'll eventually reach the limit on size of a single object?

I would like to reference the web part property from the custom page, but I don't know where these properties are stored. I've tried to access it using the code below, but both property collections don't have any properties stored. SPFeaturePropertyCollection spProperties = SPContext.Current.Site.Features[this.FeatureGuid].Properties; or SPFeaturePropertyCollection spProperties = SPContext.Current.Site.Features[this.FeatureGuid].Definition.Properties; My question is how can I get a reference to the web part property from other pages?

• Can't get message body of certain emails from inbox using the Zend framework?

  I want to select and group the products, and rank them by the number of times they occur. For example, I have an OrderList each of order object has a OrderProductVariantList(OrderLineList), and each of OrderProductVariant object has ProductVariant, and then the ProductVariant object will have a Product object which contains product information. A friend helped me with the following code. It could be compiled, but it did not return any value/result. I used the watch window for the query and it gave me "The name 'query' does not exist in the current context". Can anyone help me?   this linq query var users = from u in context.Users where u.UserEMailAdresses.Any(e1 => e1.EMailAddress == userEMail) && u.UserPasswords.Any(e2 => e2.PasswordSaltedHash == passwordSaltedHash) select u; return users.Count(); returns: 1 even when there is nothing in password table. how come? what i am trying to do is get the values of email and passwordHash from two separate tables (UserEMailAddresses and UserPasswords) linked via foreign keys to the third table (Users). it should be simple - checking if email and password mach from form to database. but it is not working for me. i get 1 (for count) even when there are NO entries in the UserPasswords table. is the linq query above completely wrong, or...?

• How to find multiples of the same integer in an arraylist?

  Hi My problem is as follows. I have an arraylist of integers. The arraylist contains 5 ints e.g[5,5,3,3,9] or perhaps [2,2,2,2,7]. Many of the arraylists have duplicate values and i'm unsure how to count how many of each of the values exist. The problem is how to find the duplicate values in the arraylist and count how many of that particular duplicate there are. In the first example [5,5,3,3,9] there are 2 5's and 2 3's. The second example of [2,2,2,2,7] would be only 4 2's. The resulting information i wish to find is if there are any duplicates how many of them there are and what specific integer has been duplicated. I'm not too sure how to do this in java. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  In Java, the standard idiom for logging is to create a static variable for a logger object and use that in the various methods. In Scala, it looks like the idiom is to create a Logging trait with a logger member and mixin the trait in concrete classes. This means that each time an object is created it calls the logging framework to get a logger and also the object is bigger due to the additional reference. Is there an alternative that allows the ease of use of "with Logging" while still using a per-class logger instance? EDIT: My question is not about how one can write a logging framework in Scala, but rather how to use an existing one (log4j) without incurring an overhead of performance (getting a reference for each instance) or code complexity. Also, yes, I want to use log4j, simply because I'll use 3rd party libraries written in Java that are likely to use log4j.

  I have this table: fourn_category (id , sub) I am using this code to count: function CountSub($id){ $root = array($id); $query = mysql_query("SELECT id FROM fourn_category WHERE sub = '$id'"); while( $row = mysql_fetch_array( $query, MYSQL_ASSOC ) ){ array_push($root,$row['id']); CountSub($row['id']); } return implode(",",$root); } It returns the category id as 1,2,3,4,5 to using it to count the sub by IN() But the problem is that it counts this: category 1 category 2 category 3 category 4 category 5 Category 1 has 1 child not 4. Why? How can I get all children's trees?
