  • Button in Update Panel doing full postback?

    No this isn't a copy of this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/654423/button-in-update-panel-is-doing-a-full-postback I've got a drop down inside an update panel, and I am trying to get it to allow the person using the page to add users to a list that is bound to a gridview. The list is a global variable, and on page_load I set that to the gridview's datasource and databind it. However, anytime I click the 'add a user' button, or the button to remove the user from the list. It appears like it is doing a full post back even though all these elements are inside the update Panel. So if that's the case, why is it calling page_load everytime I click the buttons? I ran this code and debug and I see that even before any of the code associated with button press fires, page_load runs again. I tried putting the gvAssociatedUser.Datasource = associatedFaculty and the line below inside the Page.IsPostBack check, that prevented the page from working. I tried every combination of settings of the update panel for ChildrenAsTriggers and UpdateMode, and none of them worked. I know this is something simple, but all the combinations I've tried won't get it to work. How can I make this thing work?

    Is it possible to take a screen capture of a particular area of a web-page from the web-page's own ASP.NET code? I need to display 6 images that are stacked on top of one another using CSS, and I'd like to offer the user the ability to right-click save-as if possible by stacking the screen capture on top top of the original image stack.   • ASP.NET MVC 2 Preview 2 Route Request Not Working

    Here's the error: The incoming request does not match any route. Basically I upgraded from Preview 1 to Preview 2 and got rid of a load of redundant stuff in relation to areas (as described by Phil Haack). It didn't work so I created a brand new project to check out how its dealt with in Preview 2. The file Default.aspx no longer exists which contains the following: public void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { // Change the current path so that the Routing handler can correctly interpret // the request, then restore the original path so that the OutputCache module // can correctly process the response (if caching is enabled). string originalPath = Request.Path; HttpContext.Current.RewritePath(Request.ApplicationPath, false); IHttpHandler httpHandler = new MvcHttpHandler(); httpHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext.Current); HttpContext.Current.RewritePath(originalPath, false); } The error I received points to the line httpHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext.Current); yet in newer projects none of this even exists. To test it, I quickly deleted Default.aspx but then absolutely nothing worked, I didn't even receive any errors.     I have been working on .Net platform for 2 years and right now I am working on DevExpress controls for 6 months. All these control have client-side Events which are under some ClientScript nameSpace of particular control, Which specify ClientInstanceName, methods and properties accessible at client side. For example Button1 is ClientInstanceName and Button1.Text is a property, with methods like these: Button1.SetValue(); Button1.GetValue(); In ASP.Net Controls, buttons have the ClientClick event that fires before the Server Side Click event. I have inspected and goggled to extend client side functionality in asp.net controls. For example: create a ClientInstanceName property for controls or CheckedChanged event for CheckBox / RadioButton control. I have tried using these MSDN articles: Injecting Client-Side Script from an ASP.NET Server Control Working with Client-Side Script I got much information and ideas from these articles on how to implement/extend these.
