  • String replacement on a whole text file in Python 3.x?

    - by SkippyFire
How can I replace a string with another string, within a given text file. Do I just loop through readline() and run the replacement while saving out to a new file? Or is there a better way? I'm thinking that I could read the whole thing into memory, but I'm looking for a more elegant solution... Thanks in advance

  • Create dropdown from multi array + PHP class

    - by chris
    Hi there, Well, I am writing class that creates a DOB selection dropdown. I am having figure out the dropdown(), it seems working but not exactly. Code just creates one drop down, and under this dropdown all day, month and year data are in one selection. like: <label> <sup>*</sup>DOB</label> <select name="form_bod_year"> <option value=""/> <option selected="" value="0">1</option> <option value="1">2</option> <option value="2">3</option> <option value="3">4</option> <option value="4">5</option> <option value="5">6</option> .. <option value="29">30</option> <option value="30">31</option> <option value="1">January</option> <option value="2">February</option> .. <option value="11">November</option> <option value="12">December</option> <option selected="" value="0">1910</option> <option value="1">1911</option> .. <option value="98">2008</option> <option value="99">2009</option> <option value="100">2010</option> </select> Here is my code, I wonder that why all datas are in one selection. It has to be tree selction - Day:Month:Year. //dropdown connector class DropDownConnector { var $dropDownsDatas; var $field_label; var $field_name; var $locale; function __construct($dropDownsDatas, $field_label, $field_name, $locale) { $this-dropDownsDatas = $dropDownsDatas; $this-field_label = $field_label; $this-field_name = $field_name; $this-locale = $locale; } function getValue(){ return $_POST[$this-field_name]; } function dropdown(){ $selectedVal = $this-getValue($this-field_name); foreach($this-dropDownsDatas as $keys=$values){ foreach ($values as $key=$value){ $selected = ($key == $selectedVal ? "selected" : "" ); $options .= sprintf('%s',$key,$value); }; }; return $select_start = "$this-field_desc".$options.""; } function getLabel(){ $non_req = $this-getNotRequiredData(); $req = in_array($this-field_name, $non_req) ? '' : '*'; return $this-field_label ? $req . $this-field_label : ''; } function __toString() { $id = $this-field_name; $label = $this-getLabel(); $field = $this-dropdown(); return 'field_name.'"'.$label.''.$field.''; } } function generateForm ($lang,$country_list,$states_list,$days_of_month,$month_list,$years){ $xx = array( 'form_bod_day' = $days_of_month, 'form_bod_month' = $month_list, 'form_bod_year' = $years); echo $dropDownConnector = new DropDownConnector($xx,'DOB','bod','en-US'); } // Call php class to use class on external functionss. $avInq = new formGenerator; $lang='en-US'; echo generateForm ($lang,$country_list,$states_list,$days_of_month,$month_list,$years);

  • Good JavaScript engine for animating via Sprite Sheets (not in canvas)

    - by N. Taylor Mullen
I've looked around a bit for a great JavaScript Sprite Sheet animator lib/engine but couldn't find any good ones so I thought I'd ask around =). What I'm looking for in the engine is: Animate an image in a non-canvas setting (ex: div via css or img tags) Control frame rate/animation speed Flags to loop or to animate once etc. Are there any engines like this out there? If not I can always make my own but then again, I don't want to re-invent the wheel =].

  • Good practice of using list of function in Python

    - by riskio
I am pretty new to python and I discovered by myself that I can create a list of function and call with a for loop. example: def a(args): print "A" def b(args): print "B" def c(args): print "C " + str(args) functions = [a,b,c] for i in functions: i(1) So, my question is: is there any good practice or elegant way to use list of functions and what is a good use of all this? (do have a particular name the "list of functions"?) thank you

  • create a new model instance version instead of update

    - by pablo
Hi, I have a model with a version field - autocreate timestamp. When a model instance is being saved I want to create a new instance with a new timestamp instead of updating the old model instance. Is it possible? I thought of overriding the model save() method but I don't know how to create a new instance without creating a infinite save() loop. Thanks

  • Output a php multi-dimensional array to a html table

    - by Fireflight
    I have been banging my head against the wall with this one for nearly a week now, and am no closer than I was the first day. I have a form that has 8 columns and a variable number of rows which I need to email to the client in a nicely formatted email. The form submits the needed fields as a multidimensional array. Rough example is below: <input name="order[0][topdiameter]" type="text" id="topdiameter0" value="1" size="5" /> <input name="order[0][bottomdiameter]" type="text" id="bottomdiameter0" value="1" size="5" /> <input name="order[0][slantheight]" type="text" id="slantheight0" value="1" size="5" /> <select name="order[0][fittertype]" id="fittertype0"> <option value="harp">Harp</option> <option value="euro">Euro</option> <option value="bulbclip">Regular</option> </select> <input name="order[0][washerdrop]" type="text" id="washerdrop0" value="1" size="5" /> <select name="order[0][fabrictype]" id="fabrictype"> <option value="linen">Linen</option> <option value="pleated">Pleated</option> </select> <select name="order[0][colours]" id="colours0"> <option value="beige">Beige</option> <option value="white">White</option> <option value="eggshell">Eggshell</option> <option value="parchment">Parchment</option> </select> <input name="order[0][quantity]" type="text" id="quantity0" value="1" size="5" /> This form is formatted in a table, and rows can be added to it dynamically. What I've been unable to do is get a properly formatted table out of the array. This is what I'm using now (grabbed from the net). <?php if (isset($_POST["submit"])) { $arr= $_POST['order'] echo '<table>'; foreach($arr as $arrs) { echo '<tr>'; foreach($arrs as $item) { echo "<td>$item</td>"; } echo '</tr>'; } echo '</table>; }; ?> This works perfectly for a single row of data. If I try submitting 2 or more rows from the form then one of the columns disappears. I'd like the table to be formatted as: | top | Bottom | Slant | Fitter | Washer | Fabric | Colours | Quantity | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |value| value | value | value | value | value | value | value | with additional rows as needed. But, I can't find any examples that will generate that type of table! It seems like this should be something fairly straightforward, but I just can't locate an example that works the way I need it too.

  • How to create a CPU spike with a bash command

    - by User1
I want to create a near 100% load on a Linux machine. It's quad core system and I want all cores going full speed. Ideally, the CPU load would last a designated amount of time and then stop. I'm hoping there's some trick in bash. I'm thinking some sort of infinite loop.

  • What is used instead of SendMessage and PostMessage in Java to handle inter-thread communications?

    - by Kieveli
I'm from a WinAPI / C++ background, and I'm curious as to what the Java world uses in place of a threaded message loop in a worker thread to handle communications and interactions between threads. The idea is to use a message pump in both the worker thread, and the main thread, and have them posting messages back and forth. This solution is very WinAPI / C++ centric, and probably not the preferred method of achieving this goal in Java. What is the 'Java' way to do something like this?
