• How to run unittest under pydev for Django?

  I configured properties for my django project under pydev. I can run the django app under pydev or under console window. I can also run unittest for app under console window. But I have problems to run unittest under pydev. I guess it's something related to run configurations of pydev, so I made several trials, but with no success. Once I got messages like this: ImportError: Could not import settings 'D:\django_projects\MyProject' (Is it on sys.path? Does it have syntax errors?): No module named D:\django_projects\MyProject ERROR: Module: MyUnittestFile could not be imported. Another time I got messages like this: ImportError: Could not import settings 'MyProject.settngs' (Is it on sys.path? Does it have syntax errors?): No module named settngs 'ERROR: Module: MyUnittestFile could not be imported. I use pydev 1.5.6 on eclipse and windows xp. Any ideas for this problem?

• Rails: Oracle constraint violation

  I'm doing maintenance work on a Rails site that I inherited; it's driven by an Oracle database, and I've got access to both development and production installations of the site (each with its own Oracle DB). I'm running into an Oracle error when trying to insert data on the production site, but not the dev site: ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid (OCIError: ORA-00001: unique constraint (DATABASE_NAME.PK_REGISTRATION_OWNERSHIP) violated: INSERT INTO registration_ownerships (updated_at, company_ownership_id, created_by, updated_by, registration_id, created_at) VALUES ('2006-05-04 16:30:47', 3, NULL, NULL, 2920, '2006-05-04 16:30:47')): /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-oracle-adapter-1.0.0.9250/lib/active_record/connection_adapters/oracle_adapter.rb:221:in `execute' app/controllers/vendors_controller.rb:94:in `create' As far as I can tell (I'm using Navicat as an Oracle client), the DB schema for the dev site is identical to that of the live site. I'm not an Oracle expert; can anyone shed light on why I'd be getting the error in one installation and not the other? Incidentally, both dev and production registration_ownerships tables are populated with lots of data, including duplicate entries for country_ownership_id (driven by index PK_REGISTRATION_OWNERSHIP). Please let me know if you need more information to troubleshoot. I'm sorry I haven't given more already, but I just wasn't sure which details would be helpful.

• localhost not going to desired VirtualHost

  I have several VirtalHosts set up on my computer. I'd like to visit the site I'm currently working on from a different PC using the my comp's ip address, but every config i've tried keeps taking me to a different virtual host (in fact the first virtualhost I set up on my comp). How do I set up the apache virtualhost configs to ensure that the ip address takes me to the site I want it to. /etc/apache2/sites-available/site-i-want-to-show-up-with-ip-address.conf contains: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost ServerAlias currentsite.com DocumentRoot /path/to/root/of/site-i-want-to-show-up ServerName localhost ScriptAlias /awstats/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ CustomLog /var/log/apache2/current-site-access.log combined </VirtualHost> And /etc/apache2/sites-available/site-that-keeps-showing-up.conf contains: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost ServerAlias theothersite.com DocumentRoot /path/to/it <Directory /> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None </Directory> </VirtualHost> I'd appreciate anyone's help.   I am importing data from excel(.xls) to SQL Server 2008 using SSIS. I have included IMEX=1 in the connection string of excel connection manager. But a column consists of a value as below: 4-Hour Engineer Dispatch ASPP Engr Dispatch 1: Up to 1 dispatch (8 hours) per year. Hours exceeding allocation billed @ 1.5x hourly rate w/ 8-hr min Engr Dispatch: 8-hrs to arrive on-site from Ciena's determination of need On-Site Engineer Dispatch - 8 Hour ASPP Engr Dispatch 8: Up to 8 dispatch (64 hours) per year. Hours exceeding allocation billed @ 1.5x hourly rate w/ 8-hr min Engr Dispatch: NBD to dispatch from Ciena's determination of need Per Incident On Site Support ASPP Engr Dispatch 12: Up to 12 dispatch (96 hours) per year. Hours exceeding allocation billed @ 1.5x hourly rate w/ 8-hr min Engr Dispatch: Next day to arrive on-site from Ciena's determination of need Resident Engineer Engr Dispatch: 2-hrs to arrive on-site from Ciena's determination of need Engr Dispatch: 4-hrs to arrive on-site from Ciena's determination of need ASPP Engr Dispatch 2: Up to 2 dispatch (16 hours) per year. • In .NET when Aborting Thread, can this piece of code get corrupted?

  Little intro: In complex multithreaded aplication (enterprise service bus EBS), I need to use Thread.Abort, because this EBS accepts user written modules which communicates with hardware security modules. So if this module gets deadlocked or hardware stops responding - i need to just unload this module and rest of this server aplication must keep runnnig. So there is abort sync mechanism which ensures that code can be aborted only in user section and this section must be marked as AbortAble. If this happen there is possibility that ThreadAbortException will be thrown in this pieace of code: public void StopAbortSection() { var id = Thread.CurrentThread.ManagedThreadId; lock (threadIdMap[id]) { .... } } If module is on AbortSection and Aplication decides to abort module, but after this decision but before actual Thread.Abort, module enters NonAbortableSection by calling this method, but lock is actualy taken on that locking object. So lock will block until Abort or abort can be executed before reaching this block by this code. But Object with this method is essential and i need to be sure that this pieace of code is safe to abort in any moment. Probably i have to mention that threadIdMap is Dictionary(int,ManualResetEvent), so locking object is instance of ManualResetEvent. I hope you now understad my question. Sorry for its largeness.

This content type is also bound to a module, but this module doesn't have any admin screens, all node creation is done through the standard cck interface. any ideas? • Is it possible to temporarily disable Python's string interpolation?

  I have a python logger set up, using python's logging module. I want to store the string I'm using with the logging Formatter object in a configuration file using the ConfigParser module. The format string is stored in a dictionary of settings in a separate file that handles the reading and writing of the config file. The problem I have is that python still tries to format the file and falls over when it reads all the logging-module-specific formatting flags. { "log_level":logging.debug, "log_name":"C:\\Temp\\logfile.log", "format_string": "%(asctime)s %(levelname)s: %(module)s, line %(lineno)d - %(message)s" } My question is simple: how can I disable the formatting functionality here while keeping it elsewhere. My initial reaction was copious use of the backslash to escape the various percent symbols, but that of course permanently breaks the formatting such that it wont work even when I need it to. Also, general pointers on good settings-file practices would be nice. This is the first time I've done anything significant with ConfigParser (or logging for that matter). Thanks in advance, Dominic

• Using the Search API with Sharepoint Foundation 2010 - 0 results

  I am a sharepoint newbee and am having trouble getting any search results to return using the search API in Sharepoint 2010 Foundation. Here are the steps I have taken so far. The Service Sharepoint Foundation Search v4 is running and logged in as Local Service Under Team Site - Site Settings - Search and Offline Availability, Indexing Site Content is enabled. Running the PowerShell script Get-SPSearchServiceInstance returns TypeName : SharePoint Foundation Search Description : Search index file on the search server Id : 91e01ce1-016e-44e0-a938-035d37613b70 Server : SPServer Name=V-SP2010 Service : SPSearchService Name=SPSearch4 IndexLocation : C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Exten sions\14\Data\Applications ProxyType : Default Status : Online When I do a search using the search textbox on the team site I get a results as I would expect. Now, when I try to duplicate the search results using the Search API I either receive an error or 0 results. • Using WebMatrix and Visial Studio 2010 on a Razor project

  I am having problems using both WebMatrix and VS on a Razor project. I have downloaded and installed all updates from the official ASP.net web site. After getting the project to compile in VS I get the following error: "The type of page you have requested is not served because it has been explicitly forbidden. The extension '.cshtml' may be incorrect." Now when I open the project in WebMatrix I receive the same error. I can open/run other projects in WebMatrix without errors so apparently VS changed some configuration in my project? Fortunately I have found a work around but the problem is still not solved. 1) Create a new empty folder for site. 2) Copy contents of folder from failing site. 3) In WebMatrix use option "Site From Folder". Once I have the site up and running with the above steps I can delete the original folder, then rename the new folder (which is now working) to the orig name and the site will stop working again. There is some setting on my system tied to the original folder name that is stopping cshtml files from being served. What/Where is that setting? Thanks, Terrence Koehn

• Python: circular imports needed for type checking

  First of all: I do know that there are already many questions and answers to the topic of the circular imports. The answer is more or less: "Design your Module/Class structure properly and you will not need circular imports". That is true. I tried very hard to make a proper design for my current project, I in my opinion I was successful with this. But my specific problem is the following: I need a type check in a module that is already imported by the module containing the class to check against. But this throws an import error. Like so: foo.py: from bar import Bar class Foo(object): def __init__(self): self.__bar = Bar(self) bar.py: from foo import Foo class Bar(object): def __init__(self, arg_instance_of_foo): if not isinstance(arg_instance_of_foo, Foo): raise TypeError() Solution 1: If I modified it to check the type by a string comparison, it will work. But I dont really like this solution (string comparsion is rather expensive for a simple type check, and could get a problem when it comes to refactoring). bar_modified.py: from foo import Foo class Bar(object): def __init__(self, arg_instance_of_foo): if not arg_instance_of_foo.__class__.__name__ == "Foo": raise TypeError() Solution 2: I could also pack the two classes into one module. But my project has lots of different classes like the "Bar" example, and I want to seperate them into different module files. I couldnt split them into seperate fields. as the results showing is as I want to split the details I want each element in details to be in a column to be somthin like its realy annoying :-) please help , thank you in advance

• parse xml with elementtree, custom sorting

  I want to parse xml file in utf-8 and sort it by some field. Soring is made by custom alphabet (s1 from sourcecode). History of question is here: sorting of list containing utf-8 charachters. I've found how to sort xml here.   Greetings, I've been trying to tinker with a global Cache module, but I can't figure out why this isn't working. Does anyone have any suggestions? • Problem about python import with error

  Hello, I have write a small python module with one class and two functions. The skeleton of the module is as following: #file name: test_module.py class TestClass: @classmethod def method1(cls, param1): #to do something pass def __init__(self, param1): #to do something ... def fun1(*params): #to do something ... def fun2(*params): #to do something ... Another py file is a small script which imports function and class from the module, as following: import sys from test_module import TestClass, fun1, fun2 def main(sys_argv): li = range(5) inst1 = TestClass(li) fun1(inst1) fun2(inst1) return if __name__ == "__main__": main(sys.argv) But when I execute the script, it is broken with following message: ./script.py: line 4: syntax error near unexpected token `(' ./script.py: line 4: `def main(sys_argv):' I am not sure what the problem is. Is it a problem with import? But when I try to import the module in ipython, everything is just ok.
