  • how to add a new value to a dropdown list in Rails

    - by LearnRails
In my item table, I have a itemname column which is currently a dropdown list taking values from DB. <%= select 'item','itemname' , Item.find(:all).collect{|c| [c.itemname]},{:include_blank = 'Select Name'} How can I add a new value to this dropdown list through the application. Is there a provision to directly add value to the list? Thanks

  • Hibernate naturalID

    - by DD
Hibernate doesnt seem to generate a notnull constraint on a field I marked as naturalID. Is this normal? @MappedSuperclass public class AbstractDomainObject extends PersistentObject { @NaturalId private String code; DB Schema: CONSTRAINT SYS_CT_47 UNIQUE(CODE) There is no not null constraint here.

  • Checking for nulls in ASP.NET MVC Controllers

    - by Brian McCord
Another opinion question: What is the proper (in your opinion) to check for nulls in an MVC controller. For instance, if you have an edit controller that fetches a record from the db based on an id, what do you do if that record is not found? I found this article, but I'm not sure I like that method. Do you just check for it with an if statement and redirect to a 404 page? What solution do you use?

  • Re-load Android activity data

    - by rhinds
Hi, I am writing an Android app, part of which will be a survey involving multiple pages of checkbox question and answers. I have created an activity to display the question and options (from the DB) and what I want to do now is when i press the "Next" button it should just reload the current activity with the next question set from the database. (the activity starts with survey.getNextQuestion() - so its just a case of refreshing the activity so it updates) Im sure this is a simple thing to do -any ideas? Thanks

  • More efficient left join of big table

    - by Zeus
Hello, I have the following (simplified) query select P.peopleID, P.peopleName, ED.DataNumber from peopleTable P left outer join ( select PE.peopleID, PE.DataNumber from formElements FE inner join peopleExtra PE on PE.ElementID = FE.FormElementID where FE.FormComponentID = 42 ) ED on ED.peopleID = P.peopleID Without the sub-query this procedure takes ~7 seconds, but with it, it takes about 3minutes. Given that table peopleExtra is rather large, is there a more efficient way to do that join (short of restructuring the DB) ?

  • C# delegates problem

    - by Mick Taylor
Hello I am getting the following error from my C# Windows Application: Error 1 No overload for 'CreateLabelInPanel' matches delegate 'WorksOrderStore.ProcessDbConnDetailsDelegate' H:\c\WorksOrderFactory\WorksOrderFactory\WorksOrderClient.cs 43 39 WorksOrderFactory I have 3 .cs files that essentially: Opens a windows Has an option for the users to connect to a db When that is selected, the system will go off and connect to the db, and load some data in (just test data for now) Then using a delegate, the system should do soemthing, which for testing will be to create a label. However I haven't coded this part yet. But I can't build until I get this error sorted. The 3 fiels are called: WorksOrderClient.cs (which is the MAIN) WorksOrderStore.cs LoginBox.cs Here's the code for each file: WorksOrderClient.cs using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.ComponentModel; • CursorLoader, get URI for local database

    - by user1681358
I'm a newbie android programmer and I recently followed a tutorial which shows how to create a local SQLite database by using SQLiteDatabase.rawQuery to return a Cursor. I would like to modify my app to use CursorLoader which is apparently a better way to access the database. My problem is the CursorLoader constructor expects a URI to be given. Do I just input "file:///[path to db]"? Seems a bit messy.

  • Upload files to SSRS server

    - by xt_20
I'm currently using the RS command to automate uploading an SSRS report. I have created a VB.NET program and it works well. Problem now is that I need to upload an XSLT file together with this report. Anyone knows any way of doing this, either using VB or even directly to the SSRS SQL Server db? Thanks

  • How to build a tree from a list of items and their children recursively in php?

    - by k1lljoy
I have a list of items stored in the DB, simplified schema is like this: id, parent, name I need to generate a tree structure (in a form of a multi-dimensional array) that can be infinite levels deep. Top level items would have parent = 0. Next level down would have parent equal to the the id of the parent item, fairly straight forward. What would be the best way to do this, while consuming as little resources as possible?

  • SQL Server insert slow

    - by andrew007
Hi, I have two servers where I installed SQL Server 2008 Production: RAID 1 on SCSI disks Test: IDE disk When I try to execute a script with about 35.000 inserts, on the test server I need 30 sec and instead on the production server more than 2 min! Does anybody know why such difference? I mean, the DB is configured in the same way and the production server has also a RAID config, a better processor and memory... THANKS!

  • Assembly GDB Print String

    - by Ken
So in assembly I declare the following String: Sample db "This is a sample string",0 In GDB I type "p Sample" (without quotes) and it spits out 0x73696854. I want the actual String to print out. So I tried "printf "%s", Sample" (again, without quotes) and it spits out "Cannot access memory at address 0x73696854." Short version: How do I print a string in GDB?

  • opensourcing a website code

    - by pygabriel
Hi! I'm writing a little website (webapp) in php+codeigniter, I'd really like to make it open source (to attract collaborators and to have a free VCS hosting). Is that a good practice? This mine security? Which are the best tools to change important data before uploading? (like config files with db names and passwords used for testing etc..)

  • php str_replace pattern

    - by user331071
Hello , I have a php application that saves the pictures on the server and also stores the picture names in the database . The issue that I have is that the picture names include the path/folder where it was saved from (e.g 1220368812/chpk2198933_large-2.jpg) so I need a str_replace pattern to remove "1220368812/" and have the picture name correct stored in the db . Also I would appreciate if you will send me a good link that explains how exactly the str_replace patterns work or at least how the pattern that you use work .
