  • Auto Login not working unless keyboard is plugged in

    I want to use Ubuntu+Unity(11.10) in a kiosk computer (touchscreen all-in-one pc). I want to use touchscreen for all user input (like ATM). During Installation I have created only one account and enabled auto Login. Auto Login works perfectely when the keyboard connected. I don't have to press any key or use mouse, it logs in automatically. But Its not working when keyboard is not connected. OS boots and stops on login screen. I can't connect keyboard in final kiosk hardware installation.

  • Oracle Database Recovery Problem

    I am very new to Oracle, and trying to restore a oracle 8i database on win 2000 server. I have one week old database backup (backup taken with exp command), and i want to restore it now. Now I am unable to login through sqlplus (got shutdown in progress error) I have a backup and i want to restore it, but oracle is not starting at all, and 'imp' command is failing. I started sqlplus / as sysdba and following is the log of what i am trying to do. Can some one guide me further. SQL> shutdown immediate; ORA-01109: database not open Database dismounted. ORACLE instance shut down. SQL> startup; ORACLE instance started. Total System Global Area 143423516 bytes Fixed Size 75804 bytes Variable Size 58105856 bytes Database Buffers 85164032 bytes Redo Buffers 77824 bytes Database mounted.   • How to install Windows 8 in a system which has Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7 installed already?

    I have a system in which I have installed Windows 7 first. I then installed Ubuntu 12.04 to the system. Now, the boot manager is GRUB Loader and everything works fine as Ubuntu detected that Windows 7 has been installed already. Now, I would like to install Windows 8 too. I plan to install using a bootable USB stick(doesn't matter which medium I prefer though. Does it? ). I have done some research and all the materials I can get state that I cannot practically install Windows 8 after Ubuntu and get all the three OSs to run. Can you help? I want all the three Operating systems to work perfectly.

    I have my id_rsa.pub key under my /home/user/.ssh. I carefully copied that key and paste my key to respository Git account. While trying to connect from my local system to my git respository, I got the following error: warning: Authentication failed. Disconnected; no more authentication methods available (No further authentication methods available.) I removed SSH in system and re-enable and did again, but no luck. I have no idea what's happening with my SSH key. Can any one please tell me on this? Note : I noticed in my home /home/user/.ssh && /home/user/.ssh2

  • Frequency of RAM

    I have a very old system hp compaq dx2080. It had 1gb of RAM. I recently bought a EVM DDR2 1 GB PC RAM which had a clock rate of 667Mhz. I have dual booting windows 7 and 8. When I installed it, windows 7 was still using the older 1gb. It showed as 2 gb available and 1gb usable in system properties. I searched around and found that I can change it to max in the msconfig. I did so. I set it 2048. Still, it was using only 1gb. When, I switched to 8, it was using the 2gb. Now, for my question: My system only supported 553Mhz and 667Mhz RAM. In the BIOS, I saw that the new RAM was showing as 800Mhz. Rechecked using speccy and cpu-z. It showed different values between the two. The RAM is labeled as 667Mhz over it. No mistake in that. But, am I missing something? Please help. And, can I continue using it? My point again. There are only two slots.

  • Red Box is not working

    Hi , I have install the Red box plugin by using the following command script/plugin install svn://rubyforge.org/var/svn/ambroseplugins/redbox . It installed successfully. and again ran the following command the following location /myapp/vendor/plugin/redbox/rake update_scripts . It shows me the following output (in /myapp/vendor/plugins/redbox) rake aborted! private method `copy' called for File:Class /home/myapp/vendor/plugins/redbox/Rakefile:28 (See full trace by running task with --trace) I don't know How to solve this ... Then i understand that "rake update_scripts" copying the Js and Css file only. so i manually copied the Redbox.js & redbox.css files into the respective places under /public folder I include the follwoing into my application.html.erb <%= stylesheet_link_tag 'redbox' % <%= javascript_include_tag :defaults % <%= javascript_include_tag 'redbox' % It included in the page successfully. The following is my view code : <%= link_to_remote_redbox('Red_box', :url = {:action= 'log'} ,:method ='get') % The popup box doesn't appear. I have no clue what is the exact error. Is that any Jquery clash? Please help me

    I have uploaded the video into my rails application by using thoughtbot-paperclip then the video is converted into "flv" format by using ffmpeg. For your reference here I specified some of my model sample code: model.rb: has_attached_file :source,:styles => {:thumb => "137x85>" } If i specified :url or :path option it doesn't worked correctly. In my view I played my video by using the following line: <%= @model.source.url.gsub(/\?.*/,'')%> If i use <%= @model.source.url%>, the video is not played. When do the puts for video url it shows me the video URL as /source/original/sample/sample.fly?22000009. I knew that the last portion is a timestamp, but i want to use <%= @model.source.url%>. What's my mistake here can any one correct me please?

    Hi I have installed RVM in my ubunut linux box and configured the Rails 3 app in that ... i can able to start app server... my problem is when i invoke http://localhost:3000 . i getting the follwing error Mysql::Error (Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)): I checked mysqld service is running well. I checked my database.yml file .... the defined well development: adapter: mysql encoding: utf8 reconnect: false database: test_development username: root password: admin socket: /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock my installed mysql gem version is 2.8.1.... I really don't know what is the problem here....

    Hi i have my own ubuntu linux box .... in that i have /home/username/.ssh/id_rsa.pub .. i copied the public key and paste the key into Git Hub. when i try to clone the git repository it says the following error warning: Authentication failed. I have no idea what is wrong with that.... i have putty tool which connect my server with doing authenetication. becuase i copied my public key to my server known host folder. Can any one please help on this .... its heart breaking here.......
