  • Create a overlay screen while a game/program is running?

    Hello. Does anyone know how I can create a screen overflow while a program is running? Mainly while a game is running. If anyone has used xFire or Steam, these use this feature. I've created a winform which starts the game/program and then minimizes. Could the overflow be created in the same winform? Thanks for the help! :)

  • How to search a MySQL database for a specific string

    I am trying to set up a search feature on my site that will only return exact matches to keyword entered by the user. So if the user searches "dog" I don't want an article titled "Doggy Style" to appear in the search results (just an example I don't really have an article by that name). This of course does exactly that: SELECT * FROM articles WHERE article_title LIKE '%$searchQuery%' $searchQuery here is a PHP variable taken from the user's input form. So is there any way to return only exact matches?

    Can someone point me at what I should be doing under scala 2.10 in place of this deprecated type witness on Manifest? reflect.ClassManifest.singleType(foo) <:< barManifest Honestly, my goal here is just to replace it with something that doesn't raise a deprecation warning.     Hi folks, We all know you can implement drag-and-drop feature for your Window so that it accepts drag and drop operation, but my question is, how to detect a drag-and-drop operation that's is in progress in other windows, for example, dragging a file in the Windows Explorer?     In C++ using delete to free memory obtained with malloc() doesn't necessarily cause a program to blow up. Do you guys think a warning or perhaps even an assertion failure should be produced if delete is used to free memory obtained using malloc()?? Why do you think that Stroustrup did not had this feature on C++?

  • GIT <> SVN interchangeable patch-files

    Hi, I maintain a subproject which is running on the project's SVN server. I personally prefer to work with Git - the problem is that the entire community uses SVN, expects RFCs with a SVN compatible patch-file and people are familiar with SVN and send bugfixes agains that SVN repository too. Therefore my only problem is to create patch files which are compatible with Git and SVN at the same time. Is there some kind of smart shell-script or even a buildin feature I'm not aware of? Cheers

    In my application I catch a DragOver event and then perform an action. I'd like to wait for half a second before performing the action, the action should not be performed after that delay if the drag operation has ended. The only way I could think of to implement this feature is something like this: Function DragOver Event If TimerTimeReached Then PerformDragAction Else If Not TimerStarted StartTimer End End Function Function DragLeave Event If TimerStarted StopTimer End End Function Is there a better way to perform this operation?

    I'm using interface builder's tag feature to access some UILabels I'm instantiating in a xib file. Since this a UITextViewCell I want to avoid superfluous method calls, but I want to do it right too. Thus when I do: UILabel *label = (UILabel *)[cell viewWithTag:1]; I'm wondering if I should wrap it up like so: if([[cell viewWithTag:1] isKindOfClass [UITableViewCell class]]) { UILabel *label = (UILabel *)[cell viewWithTag:1]; } Any discussion on this would be appreciated.     I have a third party COM component (they don't offer a .Net assy), that has the additional feature that it only works under x86 compile. I am trying to wrap this in a WCF service, but if I select x86, the service won't start (System.BadImageFormatException). Any workarounds for this ? Thanks Larry

  • Why does BitLocker need a minimum volume size of 64 MB?

    Since the future of TrueCrypt appears to be still unclear, I figured I'd try to get my stuff migrated into BitLocker at least for the time being. I nearly never have to access my encrypted data from anything that's not BitLocker-capable, so cross-platform compatibility isn't a big deal to me at this time. However, I am having a bit of an issue understanding the minimum requirement of a 64 MB volume. With TrueCrypt, I was able to protect small files (and most of my protected files are fairly small) in containers down to 300 KB or even less. When I finally created a VHD of an appropriate size last night (100 MB), it seemed the file system itself only took up about 3 MB and encrypting it with BitLocker didn't appear to take up any more. While 3 MB is still an order of magnitude larger than the smallest volume I could make with TrueCrypt, it's still relatively reasonable in comparison to 64 MB. This is an especially large amount of overhead (and largely wasted at that, since it's mostly empty space for now) when I consider that some of these volumes will be stored and synced in the cloud. What possible reasons could BitLocker have for needing volumes to be 64 MB large, when it's not even appearing to use that space? BitLocker FAQ on TechNet

  • Cheap Solution for Routing a Toll Free Number to a Standard POTS Number

    I do some technical work for an Internet Radio Show/Podcast, and need to fix something that has been broken for a while. The hosts have a Skype-In number to take listener calls, and for convenience sake, I bought and paid for a toll free number for a period of time. I used to use Asterlink for routing calls, but they folded and sent my number to OneBox, but they're ridiculously expensive by comparison. I'm looking for a cheap solution for this one simple task. Forward toll free calls to a skype-in number. The definition of cheap is as cheap or cheaper than Asterlink was. I paid something like $2 a month, and then the termination/call rate, which was a fraction of a sent for termination, and only whole cents after some serious time on the call. A $20 preload lasted me months at a time. I don't want to be upsold too, I want a simple web based management screen (CDR/stats are fun!), and obviously, it needs to be reliable. What vendors out there are you a fan of that solves this need?

  • Scrum stories and behind the scenes features

    As I understand things, the Scrum backlog is composed of a series of Stories that represent something for the end user and this is further decomposed into Features. If this is the case, where does all the behind the scenes features go that aren't really linked to a story but are still useful? For example, say I'm making an application that catalogs the contents of a hard drive. A story wouldn't require it but having an md5 hash on each file would be a nice feature.
