• Outbound traffic being blocked for MIP/VIPped servers (Juniper SSG5)

  As we've been having some problems with sporadic packet loss, I've been preparing a replacement router (also an SSG5) for our current Juniper SSG5. I've setup the new SSG5 identically to the old one. We have a /29 IP range with a single IP setup as a MIP map to a server and two others being used for VIP maps. Each VIP/MIP is accompanied by relevant policies. Long story short - we tried connected the new SSG5 and some things were not working as they should. No problem, I just reconnected the old one. However, some things are still broken, even when I reconnected the old one. I fear I may have inadvertently changed some settings while browsing through old settings in my attempt to reconfigure the new SSG5 unit. All inbound traffic seems to work as expected. However, the 192.168.2.202 server can't initiate any outbound connections. It works perfectly on the local network, but any pings or DNS lookups to external IP's fail. The MIP & VIP map to it works perfectly - I can access it through HTTP and RDP without issues. Any tips on what to debug, or where I've messed up my config? • Is post-sudden-power-loss filesystem corruption on an SSD drive's ext3 partition "expected behavior"?

  My company makes an embedded Debian Linux device that boots from an ext3 partition on an internal SSD drive. Because the device is an embedded "black box", it is usually shut down the rude way, by simply cutting power to the device via an external switch. This is normally okay, as ext3's journalling keeps things in order, so other than the occasional loss of part of a log file, things keep chugging along fine. However, we've recently seen a number of units where after a number of hard-power-cycles the ext3 partition starts to develop structural issues -- in particular, we run e2fsck on the ext3 partition and it finds a number of issues like those shown in the output listing at the bottom of this Question. Running e2fsck until it stops reporting errors (or reformatting the partition) clears the issues. My question is... what are the implications of seeing problems like this on an ext3/SSD system that has been subjected to lots of sudden/unexpected shutdowns? My feeling is that this might be a sign of a software or hardware problem in our system, since my understanding is that (barring a bug or hardware problem) ext3's journalling feature is supposed to prevent these sorts of filesystem-integrity errors. (Note: I understand that user-data is not journalled and so munged/missing/truncated user-files can happen; I'm specifically talking here about filesystem-metadata errors like those shown below) My co-worker, on the other hand, says that this is known/expected behavior because SSD controllers sometimes re-order write commands and that can cause the ext3 journal to get confused. In particular, he believes that even given normally functioning hardware and bug-free software, the ext3 journal only makes filesystem corruption less likely, not impossible, so we should not be surprised to see problems like this from time to time. • Java Copy/Paste org.w3c.dom.Node between two running copies of the same program

  I have a program that shows a tree representation of an XML file. Using a number of sources online I have Copy/Paste within a single instance of the program working. I am using the system Clipboard. What I need though is to be able to copy a node from one instance of the program and paste to a different instance of the same program. I have tried a number of different options, all resulting in the same behavior. When pasting from within the same application the clipboardContent contains a "transferable" object with the correct data along with an isLocal set to "true". When I perform the copy and then attempt the paste from another instance of the same program running the clipboardContent contains a "flavorsToData" HashMap and "flavors" values, the check for isDataFlavorSupported fails (never hits my custom class that represents the new flavor). I have tried using different values for the requestor object in the getContents() call. Likewise I have tried a few different ClipboardOwners for the setContent() call. Neither seem to change the behavior in any way. I am sorely tempted to convert the node that is being copied back into a textual XML format, and then on the paste convert back to the DOM model, but would rather not if possible. • JQuery UI tabs: How do I navigate directly to a tab from another page?

  JQuery UI tabs are implemented by named anchors in an unordered list. When you hover over one of the tabs you can see this in the link shown at the foot of the browser: http://mysite/product/3/#orders Above would be the "orders" tab for example. JQuery obviously intercepts the click to this anchor and opens the tab instead. However if I bookmark the link above or link to it from elsewhere in the site the page does not open on the specific tab. In the tab initialisation block I was considering putting in some code that looks for a named anchor in the URL and, if it finds one, does an index lookup of the tabs and calls the select on it. This would mean it will still work with JS switched off. But is there an easier/nicer/better way?

• WPF - Virtualizing an ItemsControl?

  I have an ItemsControl containing a list of data that I would like to virtualize, however VirtualizingStackPanel.IsVirtualizing="True" does not seem to work with an ItemsControl. Is this really the case or is there another way of doing this that I am not aware of? To test I have been using the following block of code: <ItemsControl VirtualizingStackPanel.IsVirtualizing="True" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=AccountViews.Tables[0]}"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Initialized="TextBlock_Initialized" Margin="5,50,5,50" Text="{Binding Path=Name}" /> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> If I change the ItemsControl to a ListBox, I can see that the Initialized function only runs a handful of times (the huge margins are just so I only have to go through a few records), however as an ItemsControl every item gets initialized. I have tried setting the ItemsControlPanelTemplate to a VirtualizingStackPanel but that doesn't seem to help.

• Java web-app debugging not possible due to direct undeploy on debug

  When i try to debug my webapp it starts up the tomcat server and the application, but shuts down the debugger shortly before the app gets usable. I see the debugging toolbar for a second before it vanishes again, though the app keeps running.   Devise, the authentication gem for Ruby based on Warden (another auth gem) does not support Twitter Oauth as an authentication strategy, BUT Warden does. There is a way to use the Warden Twitter Oauth strategy within Devise, but I cannot figure it out. An Article can be used in many Categories, so I have created a table of ArticleCategories like this: BridgeID int (PK) ArticleID int CategoryID int Now, I want to create constraints/relationships such that the ArticleID-CategoryID combinations are unique AND that the IDs must exist in the respective primary key tables (Articles and Categories). I have tried using both VS2008 Server Explorer and Enterprise Manager (SQL-2005) to create the FK relationships, but the results always prevent Duplicate ArticleIDs in the bridge table, even though the CategoryID is different. I am pretty sure I am doing something obviously wrong, but I appear to have a mental block at this point. Can anyone tell me please how should this be done? Greaty appreciated!

  Hi, I needed the dialog to maintain its position fixed even if the page scrolled, so i used the extension at http://forum.jquery.com/topic/dialog-position-fixed-12-1-2010 but there's 2 problems with it: it flickers in IE and Firefox on page scroll (in Safari/Chrome it's fine) on closing and then reopening, it looses its stickyness and scrolls along with the page.   I need to transfer small amounts of data intermittently from clients to our server in a secure fashion and pull down large binary files from the server ocassionally. It's important for all this to be reliable. I'm anticipating 100,000 clients. I control both ends, but I want to deliver a solution that doesn't require changing the firewall for the majority of customers. A lag of one or two minutes before the information migrates to the server or comes down seems to be acceptable at this time. We need to make the connection secure, so was thinking about SSL, but open to suggestions. Basically, what is the best binding to use in this situation so that we have a secure transmission and the system handles the stress and load in a way that works for 95% of clients out of the box (firewalls will not block in majority of firewall configurations).

• AsyncTask, RejectedExecutionException and Task Limit

  I am fetching lots of thumbnails from a remote server and displaying them in a grid view, using AsyncTask. The problem is, my grid view displays 20 thumbnails at a time, so that creates 20 AsyncTasks and starts 20 executes, one per thumbnail. I get RejectedExecution exception in my code. I recall reading somewhere that there is a limit to number of tasks that AsyncTask can have in its queue at a time, i might be hitting that. Was this bar lifted? Is there a way to increase this limit? Is it safe to just ignore this exception?(by having an empty catch(RejectedException e){} block?) I am running this code on Android 1.6 emulator and the API level in my code(minSDKVersion is 3). [EDIT: Added SDK and API level info]

  Hello, i just installed Classified Ad but after the installation i get this error: Notice: Undefined index: type in ed_classified_form_alter() (line 218 of /home3/amineamm/public_html/chrini/sites/all/modules/ed_classified/ed_classified.module). When i look up at the php code i can't figure out how to correct it.   When I connect to 80 port, plain text web site using TIdTCPClient component, all works fine, data is received without a problem, but, when I connect to 443 port, SSL web site, data not always came. Maybe something with my receive data block ? • WPF command/click argument

  So I have a background in ASP.NET where a button could have a click handler or a command handler and then a command argument. That pattern was great for when you had a bunch of buttons that basically needed to execute the same block of code with only a slightly different argument. Is there a collary in WPF? From what I've seen of the Command in WPF is that it revolves around an action that is independent of the control that invokes it (and still doesn't provide a way to provide an argument). Which is not really what I need.
