  • Password Confirmation Overlay

    Hello, I'm creating a J2EE web application that uses jQuery and Ajax to help with some of the presentation for a user-friendly interface. I've done a lot of work ensuring security around persistant login cookies, and I've decided to request the password from any user that logged in using a persistant login cookie before being allowed to make any changes that could be malicious. This request would only happen once to confirm the user is who they say they are and will last throughout the session. At present, any requests that meet this criteria has their request information stored in session and then the user is forwarded to a page to confirm their password. Once confirmed, the user's original request is then performed and the requestion information removed from session. What I would like to do is avoid all this redirection and minimize what's held in session (even if it's just for a small time), thus improving usability and convenience for the user. I believe that a jQuery overlay could allow me to prompt the user for their password (if required) and then continue to submit the request if successful. I would of originally used ThickBox, but since that's now deprecated I don't see the benefit in implementing it in an application at this development stage. However, I have tried to create an overlay using jQuery but I've scrapped every attempt as I can't seem to make it all come together. My main problem is preventing the submission when the user incorrectly types a password or cancels the overlay. Desired Flow Persistant Login Sensitive Page Submit Password Confirmation Overlay [Continue Submit | (Cancel | Incorrect] I have already created JavaScript code to encrypt the password to be sent in a parameter, but all I need now is a method of controlling the overlay and how best to use Ajax for this purpose.     Hi I've had Jetty recommended as a good container for fast and simple development, in my case, Java Server Faces. I wish to use it with my Eclipse IDE (Version: 3.4.1), but quite frankly, can't figure out how. I've tried various outdated plugins, only with large amounts of errors in return, so I'm hoping someone could guide me from downloading the right version to installing it, and being able to press "RUN", and see a simple Hello World in JSP/JSF work.     I have an iPad app that I would like to make Universal, however this seems alarmingly difficult. I've changed things around so that I support both builds, but when building, I get lots of errors about using UIPopOvers. Here're my questions: Why does UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOM() not compile or register on 3.1.3? Can I conditionally have variables in a class definition based on UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOM()?   • Ruby on Rails testing: How can I test or at the very least see a form_for's error_messages_for?

    I'm working on creating a tests, and I can't figure out why the creation of a model from a form_for is failing in the test but works in real browsers. Is there a straightforward way for me to see what the problems are in the model creation? Even better would be, is there a straightforward way for me to test the error outputs that I access via error_messages_for? In that case, I'd like to also add in tests that make sure that malformed forms are outputting the correct errors.

    I'm trying to stream a file from a remote website to a local command and am running into some problems when trying to detect errors. The code looks something like this: use IPC::Open3; my @cmd = ('wget','-O','-','http://10.10.1.72/index.php');#any website will do here my ($wget_pid,$wget_in,$wget_out,$wget_err); if (!($wget_pid = open3($wget_in,$wget_out,$wget_err,@cmd))){ print STDERR "failed to run open3\n"; exit(1) } close($wget_in); my @wget_outs = <$wget_out>; my @wget_errs = <$wget_err>; print STDERR "wget stderr: ".join('',@wget_errs); #page and errors outputted on the next line, seems wrong print STDERR "wget stdout: ".join('',@wget_outs); #clean up after this, not shown is running the filtering command, closing and waitpid'ing When I run that wget command directly from the command-line and redirect stderr to a file, something sane happens - the stdout will be the downloaded page, the stderr will contain the info about opening the given page. wget -O - http://10.10.1.72/index.php 2> stderr_test_file When I run wget via open3, I'm getting both the page and the info mixed together in stdout. What I expect is the loaded page in one stream and STDERR from wget in another. I can see I've simplified the code to the point where it's not clear why I want to use open3, but the general plan is that I wanted to stream stdout to another filtering program as I received it, and then at the end I was going to read the stderr from both wget and the filtering program to determine what, if anything went wrong. Other important things: I was trying to avoid writing the wget'd data to a file, then filtering that file to another file, then reading the output. It's key that I be able to see what went wrong, not just reading $? 8 (i.e. I have to tell the user, hey, that IP address is wrong, or isn't the right kind of website, or whatever). Finally, I'm choosing system/open3/exec over other perl-isms (i.e. backticks) because some of the input is provided by untrustworthy users.
