I have one table and one row in my db relatively, id (integer), name (varchar), desc (varchar) (I created my table using SQLite Manager). 2-) What is text type in SQLite Manager? Is that NSString? Also how can I put the string values(in table) to an NSMutableArray ? (I am really having difficulty in conversion.) *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** +[NSString stringWithUTF8String:]: NULL cString'

  • Installing a configuration profile on iPhone - programmatically

    - by Seva Alekseyev
    Hi all, I would like to ship a configuration profile with my iPhone application, and install it if needed. Mind you, we're talking about a configuration profile, not a provisioning profile. First off, such a task is possible. If you place a config profile on a Web page and click on it from Safari, it will get installed. If you e-mail a profile and click the attachment, it will install as well. "Installed" in this case means "The installation UI is invoked" - but I could not even get that far. So I was working under the theory that initiating a profile installation involves navigating to it as a URL. I added the profile to my app bundle. A) First, I tried [sharedApp openURL] with the file:// URL into my bundle. No such luck - nothing happens. B) I then added an HTML page to my bundle that has a link to the profile, and loaded it into a UIWebView. Clicking on the link does nothing. Loading an identical page from a Web server in Safari, however, works fine - the link is clickable, the profile installs. I provided a UIWebViewDelegate, answering YES to every navigation request - no difference. C) Then I tried to load the same Web page from my bundle in Safari (using [sharedApp openURL] - nothing happens. I guess, Safari cannot see files inside my app bundle. D) Uploading the page and the profile on a Web server is doable, but a pain on the organizational level, not to mention an extra source of failures (what if no 3G coverage? etc.). So my big question is: how do I install a profile programmatically? And the little questions are: what can make a link non-clickable within a UIWebView? Is it possible to load a file:// URL from my bundle in Safari? If not, is there a local location on iPhone where I can place files and Safari can find them? EDIT on B): the problem is somehow in the fact that we're linking to a profile. I renamed it from .mobileconfig to .xml ('cause it's really XML), altered the link. And the link worked in my UIWebView. Renamed it back - same stuff. It looks as if UIWebView is reluctant to do application-wide stuff - since installation of the profile closes the app. I tried telling it that it's OK - by means of UIWebViewDelegate - but that did not convince. Same behavior for mailto: URLs within UIWebView. For mailto: URLs the common technique is to translate them into [openURL] calls, but that doesn't quite work for my case, see scenario A. For itms: URLs, however, UIWebView works as expected... EDIT2: tried feeding a data URL to Safari via [openURL] - does not work, see here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/641461/iphone-open-data-url-in-safari EDIT3: found a lot of info on how Safari does not support file:// URLs. UIWebView, however, very much does. Also, Safari on the simulator open them just fine. The latter bit is the most frustrating.

  • why eventsMatchingPredicate returns nil?

    - by OneZero
    Here's my code: NSString * calID = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:@"calendarIdentifier"]; EKCalendar *cal = [eventStore calendarWithIdentifier:calID]; // If calendar exists if(cal) { // Retrieve all existing events until today NSPredicate *predicate = [eventStore predicateForEventsWithStartDate:[NSDate distantPast] endDate:[NSDate date] calendars:@[cal]]; self.events = [eventStore eventsMatchingPredicate:predicate]; if(self.events==nil) NSLog(@"nil events!"); } The calendarItentifier is the variable that I stored when I created the calendar in my program, so it's not the case I'm adding events on the wrong calendar. However, the code does not work to retrieve past events on the calendar, it simply returns nil to self.events. But I DID add events on the calendar. Can anything tell me if there's anything wrong with the code?

  • Center content of UISCrollView when smaller

    - by hgpc
    I have an UIImageView inside a UIScrollView which I use for zooming and scrolling. If the image/content of the scroll view if bigger than the scroll view everything works fine. However, when the image becomes smaller than the scroll view, it sticks to the top left corner of the scroll view. I would like to keep it centered, like the Photos app. Any ideas or examples about keeping the content of the UIScrollView centered when smaller? I am working with iPhone 3.0. The following code almost works. The image returns to the top left corner if I pinch it after reaching the minimum zoom level. - (void)loadView { [super loadView]; // set up main scroll view imageScrollView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:[[self view] bounds]]; [imageScrollView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor blackColor]]; [imageScrollView setDelegate:self]; [imageScrollView setBouncesZoom:YES]; [[self view] addSubview:imageScrollView]; UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"WeCanDoIt.png"]]; [imageView setTag:ZOOM_VIEW_TAG]; [imageScrollView setContentSize:[imageView frame].size]; [imageScrollView addSubview:imageView]; CGSize imageSize = imageView.image.size; [imageView release]; CGSize maxSize = imageScrollView.frame.size; CGFloat widthRatio = maxSize.width / imageSize.width; CGFloat heightRatio = maxSize.height / imageSize.height; CGFloat initialZoom = (widthRatio heightRatio) ? heightRatio : widthRatio; [imageScrollView setMinimumZoomScale:initialZoom]; [imageScrollView setZoomScale:1]; float topInset = (maxSize.height - imageSize.height) / 2.0; float sideInset = (maxSize.width - imageSize.width) / 2.0; if (topInset < 0.0) topInset = 0.0; if (sideInset < 0.0) sideInset = 0.0; [imageScrollView setContentInset:UIEdgeInsetsMake(topInset, sideInset, -topInset, -sideInset)]; } - (UIView *)viewForZoomingInScrollView:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { return [imageScrollView viewWithTag:ZOOM_VIEW_TAG]; } /************************************** NOTE **************************************/ /* The following delegate method works around a known bug in zoomToRect:animated: */ /* In the next release after 3.0 this workaround will no longer be necessary */ /**********************************************************************************/ - (void)scrollViewDidEndZooming:(UIScrollView *)scrollView withView:(UIView *)view atScale:(float)scale { [scrollView setZoomScale:scale+0.01 animated:NO]; [scrollView setZoomScale:scale animated:NO]; // END Bug workaround CGSize maxSize = imageScrollView.frame.size; CGSize viewSize = view.frame.size; float topInset = (maxSize.height - viewSize.height) / 2.0; float sideInset = (maxSize.width - viewSize.width) / 2.0; if (topInset < 0.0) topInset = 0.0; if (sideInset < 0.0) sideInset = 0.0; [imageScrollView setContentInset:UIEdgeInsetsMake(topInset, sideInset, -topInset, -sideInset)]; }

  • Loop an UIScrollView

    - by Ilya
    Hi, I've got an UIScrollView and in it different images(about 30). I'd like to make it possible, when user reaches the last image to show the first one after it and so on. And I want to implement the same feature with the first image(to go to the last one). I'd like to loop the images smoothly that user won't even notice that he is making another loop. What is the best way to achieve this? Thanks.

I have a stream that works correctly if I view with safari on the iphone or quicktimex on the mac... but the stream doesnt view in my code for the ipad simulator - (IBAction)clickedOpenMovie:(id)sender { NSString *myString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://myipofstreamingserver:1935/live/aStream/playlist.m3u8"]; //NSString *myString = [[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath] stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"720p5994-prores-hq_iPhone_320x240.m4v"]; NSURL *myURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:myString]; [self playMovieAtURL:myURL]; } -(void)playMovieAtURL:(NSURL*)theURL { //CGRect moviePlayerFrame = CGRectMake(20, 33, 100, 100); //UIView playerView = [[[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:moviePlayerFrame] autorelease]; MPMoviePlayerViewController* movieViewController = [[MPMoviePlayerViewController alloc] initWithContentURL:theURL]; //theMovie.scalingMode = MPMovieScalingModeNone; //theMovie. = MPMovieControlStyleFullscreen; //movieViewController.controlStyle = MPMovieControlModeDefault; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(myMovieFinishedCallback:) name:MPMoviePlayerPlaybackDidFinishNotification object:movieViewController]; //UIViewController *movieViewController = [[UIViewController alloc] initWithContentURL:theURL]; [self presentMoviePlayerViewControllerAnimated:movieViewController]; //[theMovie play]; }

  • Reasons for NSManagedObjectMergeError error on [NSManagedObjectContext save:]

    - by ross-kimes
    I have a application that combines threading and CoreData. I and using one global NSPersistentStoreCoordinator and a main NSManagedObjectContextModel. I have a process where I have to download 9 files simultaneously, so I created an object to handle the download (each individual download has its own object) and save it to the persistentStoreCoordinator. In the [NSURLConnection connectionDidFinishLoading:] method, I created a new NSManagedObject and attempt to save the data (which will also merge it with the main managedObjectContext). I think that it is failing due to multiple process trying to save to the persistentStoreCoordinator at the same time as the downloads are finishing around the same time. What is the easiest way to eliminate this error and still download the files independently? Thank you!

  • writing NSDictionary to plist

    - by ADude
    Hi I'm trying to write an NSDictionary to a plist but when I open the plist no data has been written to it. From the log my path looks correct and my code is pretty standard. Any ideas? NSArray *keys = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"key1", @"key2", @"key3", nil]; NSArray *objects = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"value1", @"value2", @"value3", nil]; NSDictionary *dictionary = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjects:objects forKeys:keys]; for (id key in dictionary) { NSLog(@"key: %@, value: %@", key, [dictionary objectForKey:key]); } NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"FormData" ofType:@"plist"]; NSLog(@"path:%@", path); [dictionary writeToFile:path atomically:YES];

  • NSData's writeToFile method failing with server address

    - by Ricky
    Hi. I am trying to write an NSData object to a directory like so; [myData writeToFile:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/%@.txt", path, filename] atomically:YES]; I receive no errors or warnings but I am assuming the write fails because the path variable has the format of afp://10.0.0.20/username/Desktop. I am connected to the networked share. Do I need to modify the string or take a different approach here? TIA, Ricky.

  • UIScrollView subviews not showing at first

    - by igul222
    I created a custom UIScrollView subclass that works a like a UITableView, keeping a collection of subviews and re-using them whenever the user scrolls. It's implemented like this: -(void)layoutSubviews { for(UIView *subview in [self subviews]) [subview removeFromSuperview]; // then re-add subviews after changing the frame and some attributes } This works fine with simple UIViews, but when I try to do it with a UIView that has a UILabel subview, the "base" view appears fine, but the UILabel doesn't show up at all. I can get the UILabel to show up by scrolling the entire UIView off screen and then bringing it back on. What could be causing this? So far, I've tried calling [myUIView setNeedsLayout], [myUIView setNeedsDisplay], and [myUIView layoutIfNeeded] from various places. None of them worked, and the last one crashed my app. I've also done the same thing to myUIScrollViewSubclass, with similar results.

  • How can I set the Inital Orientation for a UISplitViewCOntroller-based iPad App

    - by MystikSpiral
    I have a split view app running fine on the iPad. It is using the default setup (Popover in Portrait, table view on the left in landscape). The views shift correctly once the app is running. The problem I am seeing is that when the app starts (in the simulator) running in landscape mode the UI paradigm is the one intended for Portrait mode (Master List is a popover) is what loads. I am thinking this is some strangeness with the simulator, or I am missing an option on my main view controller.

  • Why 'initWithObjectsAndKeys:' doesn't throw a casting warning? (NSDictionary)

    - by rubdottocom
    Sorry if the question isn't correct, I'm very new in Objective-C. I understand why this code throw the Warning: "warning: passing argument 1 of 'initWithObjectsAndKeys:' makes pointer from integer without" NSDictionary *dictNames = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys: 3, @"", 4, @"", 5, @"",nil]; Keys and Values of a NSDictionary must be NSObject and not fundamental types, like the integers 3, 4 and 5. (Correct me if necessary). But I don't understand why this warning dissapears with the only "correct typing" of the first Key. NSDictionary *dictNames = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys: [NSNumber numberWithInteger:3], @"", 4, @"", 5, @"",nil]; It's because NSDictionary assumes the type of the other Keys? Is correct this manner of initialization?

  • willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:duration: not called for iOS5 after dismissing from modal

    - by Jean-Denis Muys
    My main UIViewController overrides willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:duration: to adapt the background view for the correct orientation. This works fine when staying within the view. But in my app, the result of some user actions can lead to presenting another "daughter" UIViewController. When the user is done with that daughter UIViewController, she normally returns to the main view controller. My code calls dismissModalViewControllerAnimated: to do so. The issue occurs when the user changes the iPad orientation while the daughter UIViewController is on screen. Then, the main UIViewController will never see any call to willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:duration: and its background view will be incorrect. This setup works fine in iOS 4: the iOS 4 implementation of dismissModalViewControllerAnimated: calls UIWindow's _setRotatableClient:toOrientation:updateStatusBar:duration:force: which calls willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:duration: for the switched in UIViewController. Apparently , this behavior changed for iOS 5. How am I expected to implemented orientation changes while my view is off screen under iOS5? Am I supposed to query the current orientation in viewWillAppear: for example?

  • Does UIGestureRecognizer work on a UIWebView?

    - by rscott
    I am attempting to get a UIGestureRecognizer working with a UIWebview which is a subview of a UIScrollView. This sounds odd but when I have the numberOfTouchesRequired set to 2 the selector fires, but when numberOfTouchesRequired is set to one the selector doesn't fire. Here is my code: UITapGestureRecognizer *tap1 = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:@selector(select1:)]; tap1.numberOfTouchesRequired = 2; tap1.numberOfTapsRequired = 1; tap1.delegate = self; [self.ans1WebView addGestureRecognizer:tap1]; [tap1 release]; - (void) select1:(UILongPressGestureRecognizer *)sender { //Do Stuff } I've confirmed this by using the Apple sample for UIGestureRecognizer and inserting a webview in their nib. Their tap code works everywhere but inside the area of the webview.

  • Empty "Groups" in People Picker Navigation Controller

    - by Meltemi
    I'm using the standard People Picker Navigation Controller to let users associate one of their contacts with one of my objects. It presents itself as a long list of ALL contacts. The back button (top left) says "Groups" but when clicked on it shows an empty screen...even when there are many Groups in the user's address book. I've read through the docs and can't seem to find how to populate the Groups area. Here's how I present the people picker. Fairly standard: - (IBAction)showPicker:(id)sender { ABPeoplePickerNavigationController *picker = [[ABPeoplePickerNavigationController alloc] init]; picker.peoplePickerDelegate = self; [self presentModalViewController:picker animated:YES]; [picker release]; } What am I missing?

  • drawRect not being called in my subclass of UIImageView

    - by Ben Collins
    I have subclassed UIImageView and tried to override drawRect so I could draw on top of the image using Quartz 2D. I know this is a dumb newbie question, but I'm not seeing what I did wrong. Here's the interface: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface UIImageViewCustom : UIImageView { } - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect; And the implementation: #import "UIImageViewCustom.h" @implementation UIImageViewCustom - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { if (self = [super initWithFrame:frame]) { } return self; } - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { // do stuff } I set a breakpoint on drawRect and it never hits, leading me to think it never gets called at all. Isn't it supposed to be called when the view first loads? Have I incorrectly overridden it?

  • UITextField in UIAlertView doesn't respond to cut/copy/paste on second showing

    - by Jesse Grosjean
    I"m adding a UITextView to a UIAlertView with the following code: UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Enter Name Here" message:@"this gets covered!" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Dismiss" otherButtonTitles:@"OK!", nil]; UITextField *myTextField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(12, 45, 260, 25)]; CGAffineTransform myTransform = CGAffineTransformMakeTranslation(0, 60); [alert setTransform:myTransform]; [myTextField setBackgroundColor:[UIColor whiteColor]]; [alert addSubview:myTextField]; [alert show]; [alert release]; [myTextField release]; If I place that code in a standard action method: - (IBAction)testAlertView:(id)sender { ...the above code... } Then the first time I show the alert view the cut/copy/paste popup menu will show in the text fields that's been added to the alert view. (For instance if I tap and hold, then "Paste" will popup after I release. The problem is after working correctly the first time, none of the cut/copy/paste buttons will show up again when I show the alert view unless I restart the app. Does anyone know why, or how to fix this problem? Bonus information I just found out that I can get things to always work if I create an show the alert within a UIActionSheet delagate callback. For instance this always works (cut/copy/paste always shows up when in the UITextField when appropriate) - (void)actionSheet:(UIActionSheet *)actionSheet clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { ...the above code... } Any idea what might be happening in this second case that make things work? I don't want to use a UIActionSheet in my app, so I'd like to find a way to make it work from a plain old action method. Thanks, Jesse
