• Unable to browse some pdfs and docs.

  I have a web site that uses Microsoft Indexing Service to index and query a directory that holds various documents of type pdf, rtf, mht, and doc. The indexing and querying works well (for the most part); however, some files will load while others will not. This is a Windows Server 2003 box running the site using IIS 6. The indexed directory is a sub directory off of the site's root directory (i.e. http://my.domain.com/files/). The file paths are accurate in the URL; however, I can only access some of the files of each file type. The files that I cannot access give a 404 File Not Found. I am able to open all files via windows explorer;however, attempting to open them via a browser over http is hit and miss. Has anyone experienced this issue and know how to resolve it? Anyone have any idea why I could access some files but not others? Does anyone have any recommendations on what to look into to try this (i.e. does owner matter or something like that?)? • How to make schema dumps comparable between Windows and Linux

  I have two systems running, one on linux and the other on windows. From the linux box, I ran pg_dump against both systems and dumped the schema. pg_dump command: pg_dump -h HOST -U USER -s -f /tmp/out.sql DB_NAME After I removed all of the "--" comments, I diffed the files together. Diff output snippet, linux compared to windows: - ADD CONSTRAINT sys_c004775 FOREIGN KEY (ruleid) REFERENCES rule(ruleid); + ADD CONSTRAINT sys_c004775 FOREIGN KEY (ruleid) REFERENCES "rule"(ruleid); The linux dump does not quote any entities and windows does. Is this a function of some encoding or just of a difference between windows and linux? Is there an option in pg_dump to make the output more consistent?

• 1080 HD video display - Windows 7

  I am running Windows 7 in my Dell Studio 1555 Laptop. I have ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 graphics card inside. When I try to watch a video, I can see only some disturbed texture. I can hear the audio and no prob with that. The I can see the video frames peeking sometimes but is pretty slower. I have DirectX (directx_feb2010_redist) and Win7 codecs installed. • Streaming video file to iPhone

  I have a http streaming link which gives me .flv streaming feed. I want to convert that and access in my iPhone program. How can i do that? I want to have a desktop software like VLC and input this streaming feed URL and convert to iPhone supported and stream again to iPhone. I tried VLC with H.264 and Mpeg-1 audio, but seems to be it doesn't give the supported format, so as iPhone program doesn't play the video. Could someone please guide me how can i setup a desktop software which can stream iPhone supported file?

• Static when metal USB plug touches my case, and other electrical problems.

  I have an aluminum PC case. Whenever the metal USB plug from my external drive contacts the front, I get crackling from my speakers, which are connected to an external USB soundcard. (This crackling happens even if they're not connected to the actual output jack.) A few possibly related problems: my audio occasionally starts popping once every few minutes, and my USB devices sometimes play the "connected" sound in Windows even though they're already connected, as if they're briefly disconnecting. My guess is that this has to do with the grounding, but I'm not sure exactly what to do. My case has a round grounding wire, but I don't know where to attach it, and fiddling with it didn't seem to have any effect. Suggestions?

• Routing from the DMZ to the interior network only

  I have a home network connected to Verizon's FIOS service. Verizon's ActionTec router is connected to the ONT via coax to establish the MOCA network. My DD-WRT router's WAN port is connected to one of the ActionTec's LAN ports. The DD-WRT router is configured with a static IP address and assigned to the DMZ (this is done so I only have to configure port forwarding once). My issue is that this does not allow computers connected to the DD-WRT to serve streaming audio/video to the MOCA network using Verizon's Media Manager. I know that Media Manager uses ports 18001, 5050, and 5060, but I don't know how to forward those ports so that they are only available to the ActionTec's network and not the rest of the internet.

  I'm trying to create an inventory list (tab-delimited text, for the output) from XML data. The catch is, I need to take the line that I created, and list it multiple times (iterate ???), based on a number found in the XML.   Hi We have a client that is sending xml messages that are produced from two separate schemas. We would like to process them in a single application, since the content is related. We cannot modify the client's schema that they are using to produce the XML messages... We can modify our own copies of the two schema (or binding.jxb) -- if it helps -- in order to enable our JAXB processing of messages created from the two separate schemas. Unfortunately, both schemas have the same root element name (see below). • Problem with NHibernate

  I am trying to get a list of Products that share the Category. NHibernate returns no product which is wrong. • TV video constantly skips 1/2 second, plays 1 second; green on bottom

  I just got DirecTV. It worked for a day, but now the TV video constantly skips 1/2 second, then plays 1 second. Also, the bottom 5th of the screen is solid green. The audio does not skip. I tried to do "Set up TV signal" (in Media Center) - but I get an error. See the post I just made here titled "Error - “IR Hardware not detected” - but it’s installed/working." Thanks for your help.

  I'm recording with SoX, and I want to make it not show output at all. When recording, it shows this output: Input File : 'default' (waveaudio) Channels : 2 Sample Rate : 48000 Precision : 16-bit Sample Encoding: 16-bit Signed Integer PCM In:0.00% 00:00:00.68 [00:00:00.00] Out:28.7k [ | ] Clip:0 I tried setting verbosity to 0, but it has no effect. (I'm guessing it's meant for messages other than this.) I don't just want to hide the output, which I could do easily; I want SoX to not generate it in the first place, for performance on a weak computer.

• Error in joining 4 AVI files

  I have 4 avi files. Each file can be played properly in VLC player, Windows media player. Video-Audio Codec type in each of this avi file is Xvid-Mpga. I used below avi joiners: Quick AVI joiner, AVI join, BoilSoft Video Joiner(trial version), but all of them gave an error when i select the first part avi file saying : "format of the part1.avi file cannot be recognized".. What could be the problem. How do i join these AVI files. Any pointers will help. Thanks. -AD.

• Automatic switching between "digital output" (HDMI) and built-in speakers in Vista

  We occasionally connect my wife's laptop, which runs Vista, to our TV. Whenever we do this we have to manually switch the default audio output to "digital output" for the sound to go through the HDMI connection, and we also have to restart any apps that we want to send sound to the TV. We then have to perform a similar process when disconnecting. Is there any way to just have this be automatic? It seems absurd to have to do so much manual fiddling when a 40 year old transistor radio is "smart" enough to turn off the speakers and send sound to the headphones when headphones are plugged in. In case it helps, the name "RealTek" shows up in the sound card settings dialog.

• TightVNC (or any VNC) client windows scaling

  Hi, I am currently using TightVNC to connect to multiple remote hosts in LAN. I start 16 VNC instances, set Scaling by: Auto (in connection options display), set Hextile encoding, and then select all windows and use Tile Horizontally, which covers my entire screen with VNC screens. It all works sort of nice, except that desktop interaction is really slow when there are more then 4 VNC clients. My question is, does VNC client (not just TightVNC, but any compatible client) support some kind of smart scaling option, so that client tells server something along the lines of: "Okay, I'm displaying your entire screen in a window size 300x225 px, so can you please start sending encoded images on that resolution?", at which point interactiveness of open connections dramatically increase, and when I decide to go full screen on some connection, client and server re-negotiate and server starts sending full resolution images again? • Why does this XSL fails to retrieve value from xml ?

It says my '.xsl' is well formed but it somehow does not retrieve values from the xml,instead jus pastes the header and table headings. • VLC RTP Streaming in FC12

  I'm trying to get VLC to work streaming RTP audio/video over my office network. The goal is multicast a/v streaming. In all test cases, we are streaming from VLC to VLC. I am able to stream from Windows to Windows, and from Fedora to Windows, but not from Windows to Fedora. Additionally, I am unable to receive a LOCAL stream from one instance of VLC to another, within Fedora. I don't see any reason why this would be. The buffer indicator (where the elapsed/total time is normally displayed) never shows any connectivity, so it would appear to be a network problem, but since I am able to stream from Fedora to Windows (same IP, same port) I thought it would be something else. Does anyone know of a solution to this issue?

  we know that a rough estimation of TCP rate is: WINDOW/RTT, where WINDOW is the min(CWIN, RWIN), CWIN is the congestion window size of the sender, while RWIN is the receiving window. nowadays, the encoding rate of videos may be 1000KB/s(8000kbit/s), if RTT is 500ms, it needs the window size to be 2000KB. But we know that usually the receiving window size is below 64KB, there is a big gap. so if RTT is too large, TCP streaming is not possible? Is my understanding right? thanks!

• Android app hanging, sometimes until Force Close / Wait dialog appears

  I'm making an app that records uncompressed (wav format) audio. I'm using this class to actually record the audio. Currently, my application records fine (I can play the file), however when I click the button to stop the recording, the app hangs for 10 seconds or so, with no log output or any signs of life. Finally it comes round, dumps a load of errors into the log, updates the UI etc. I'm using AsyncTasks to try and avoid this kind of thing but it's not working. Update I've replace the AsyncTasks with Threads, still doesn't work, the app completely hangs when I click record, despite the fact the Log indicates there's nothing going on in the main thread.   From the documentation, I can't figure out what criteria an ISA server uses to figure out if a cached file is valid when no cache-related info is in the response header. Let's say I got this header in my response on Thu, 13 Jan 2011 18:43:35 GMT: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Thu, 13 Jan 2011 18:43:35 GMT Server: Apache/2.2.3 (Red Hat) Content-Language: en X-Powered-By: Servlet/2.5 JSP/2.1 Keep-Alive: timeout=15 Connection: Keep-Alive Transfer-Encoding: chunked Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 There's no cache directive, no last-modified field, no expires field. How will the ISA server decide for how long to cache this response?

• GoogleTv video using VideoView is clipped, even though its in a separate layout of its own

  Wrote an application for GoogleTV box to play a video. The video is a separate activity to the main activity. Wired up a button on my main layout/activity to to start the video activity up (using its own video.xml layout), the video activity loads and starts playing, but the video is clipped, only showing a few centimetres of the bottom. The clipped region looks like the views that occupied the previous layout (main.xml) . The intriguing thing is that if I push the back button, before returning to the main activity the full video frame is shown. Not sure what I am doing wrong here. Any suggestions welcome. • Advise on a 240,000 sqft outdoor wireless network

  I would be very appreciative of some advice in the purchase of equipment to provide a wireless network that covers the entire area of an outdoor arena. The area is rectangular-ish in shape. 400ft wide and 600ft long. It has 6 light towers, 1 on each of the 400 foot ends and 2 on each of the 600 foot ends. I can mount on anything and spend as much money as needed. The needs of the network would be to provide access for, up to 15 wireless HD cameras with audio, and a public-wifi network. Can someone point me in the right direction as far as equipment and antennas ? I can provide any additional information that you may need.

• Serving Compressed Files Amazon vs Lightty

  We are currently using amazon CloudFront to serve css and according to Amazon itself, Amazon CloudFront can serve both compressed and uncompressed files from an origin server. But while i check compression it shows everything fine in origin server but it shows notcompressed checking in the link with cloudfront. e.g. http://www.port80software.com/tools/compresscheck.asp?url=http%3A%2F%2Fimgsrv.mydomain.com%2Fen-UK%2Fsomething.css it would result with Compression status: (gzip) while with cloudfront http://www.port80software.com/tools/compresscheck.asp?url=http%3A%2F%2hereisit.cloudfront.net%2F%2Fsomething.css Compression status: Uncompressed Origin server is running lighttpd with mod_deflate however, allowed config is: deflate.allowed_encodings = ("bzip2", "gzip", "deflate") [i would think, putting extra allowed encoding wont affect as such.] Here i am clueless, what is the real issue.
