  • minifying patched javascript files

    - by Stacia
I'm writing a Rails app and I've partially integrated in this nice little patch to the in line ajax editor: http://inplacericheditor.box.re/ The problem is, on that page I have tinymce, prototype and scriptaculous included. In Firefox at least there's a big lag when all this stuff is loading. I was hoping to fix it by compressing the files so I checked out a plugin for rails called Smurf. It seemed to do what it was supposed to do nicely, but it choked on the little patch files that are included with the Ajax editor thing. THe patch files look like this: Object.extend(Ajax.InPlaceEditor.prototype, { handleAJAXFailure: function(transport) Alternatively, should I just be catching them instead of worrying about minfying them? I know I'm running on development and that Apache would maybe be handling serving the js files differently..It just seems like a lot of things to serve on one page.

  • Deleting a cookie in Javascript not working

    - by DisgruntledGoat
I have a site where authentication is done externally (which I can't access), so I'm creating a cookie on login in order to display a welcome message to the user. Creating the cookie works fine, I write to document.cookie when the login form submits. But deleting the cookie doesn't work. Here's my code (logout.php does the external authentication stuff): <a href="http://external.com/logout.php" style="float:right" onclick="document.cookie='BRLOG=; expires=Thu, 01-Jan-1970 00:00:01 GMT; path=/; domain=.example.com;'">Logout</a>

    I 'm writing a code with JS and I don't know how to populate array when clicking on button. We have this code, which uses a list (ul), where the items (li) can be moved with mouse. How can do onclick to populate an array with 2 data, its first position and the last position? <!doctype html> <html lang="en"> <head> <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.9.1.js"></script> <script src="http://code.jquery.com/ui/1.10.3/jquery-ui.js"></script> <script src="https://raw.github.com/furf/jquery-ui-touch-punch/master/jquery.ui.touch-punch.min.js"></script> <script> $(function() { $( ".documents" ).sortable(); $( ".documents" ).disableSelection(); }); </script> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>toArray demo</title> <style> span { color: red; } </style> </head> <body> Reversed - <span></span> <ul id="opciones" class="documents"> <li>uno</li> <li>dos</li> <li>tres</li> </ul> <script> function disp( li ) { var a = []; for ( var i = 0; i < li.length; i++ ) { a.push( li[ i ].innerHTML ); } $( "span" ).text( a.join( " " ) ); } disp( $( "li" ).toArray() ); </script> <input type="button" value="actualizar_array" onclick="disp('#opciones')" /> </body> </html>

  • Live clock javascript starts from my custom time

    - by newworroo
I was trying to create a live/dynamic clock is based on my custom time instead of system time. There are many scripts, but I couldn't find the clock starts from my custom time. Here is an example that I'm trying to modify. The problem is the seconds doesn't change, and it looks like I need to use ajax. Is there any way to do it without ajax? If not, help me to do it using ajax!!! The reason I don't like ajax method is that another page should be called and refreshed, so it will eat server ram. ex) http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/cut2.shtml Before: <script> function show(){ var Digital=new Date() var hours=Digital.getHours() var minutes=Digital.getMinutes() var seconds=Digital.getSeconds() ... ... After: <script> function show(){ var Digital=new Date() var hours=<?php echo $hr; ?>; var minutes=<?php echo $min; ?>; var seconds=<?php echo $sec; ?>; ... ...

  • Playing with selects and javascript

    - by Tom
    My code is: <select name='main'> <option>Animals</option> <option>Food</option> <option>Cars</option> </select> <select name='other'> <option>Rats</option> <option>Cats</option> <option>Oranges</option> <option>Audi</option> </select> How do I filter my second select, so it would only show items which I want eg. if I Choose Animals, my select would be: <select name='other'> <option>Rats</option> <option>Cats</option> </select> and if I choose Food, my select would be: <select name='other'> <option>Oranges</option> </select> Well, I hope you get the idea. Thanks.

  • HTML/Javascript - Inconsistent positioning

    - by user1473358
I'm in the process of designing this site http://www.parisgaa.org/parisgaels and have a problem. The image slider on the homepage messes up sometimes. Most of the time it works and looks fine, but other times its positioning seems to get messed up and it appears underneath the content that should be below it (i.e. with that content overlapping the image). You should be able to replicate this in Chrome - just refresh a couple of times. I'd appreciate any help at all.

  • javascript var assignment conversion to target type

    - by pbhd
    searching for a function, which converts rhs to the type of lhs. e.g. var x=false // x is boolean now; x=assign (x, "true"); //should convert "true" to boolean and return that x=assign (x, 1); // dto, convert 1 to true x=0 // x is number x=assign (x, "123"); // should convert "123" to 123; so such a function can be written, thats not the question. But: Is there somewhere a somehow complete implementation of such a thing? I started with something like that: function assign (v, x) { if (typeof v==typeof x) { return x; } switch (typeof v) { case 'boolean' : { return x=='true'?true:false; } case 'number' : { return parseFloat(x); } } return "xxx"; } var v=true; var x='true'; var r1=assign (v, x); console.log (typeof r1+ " "+r1); v=10; x="123"; var r1=assign (v, x); console.log (typeof r1+ " "+r1); which of course is not complete, but maybe shows what I'm goig for.

  • JSF form does not get submitted when form is disabled by JavaScript

    - by Steve
This is the submit button: <h:commandButton actionListener="#{regBean.findReg}" action="#{regBean.navigate}" value="Search" /> This is the form: <h:form onsubmit="this.disabled=true;busyProcess();return true;"> If the submit button is pressed, the page shows a "busy" icon until request is processed. The problem is, the form is never submitted and the request never reaches the backend. However, if I instead take out the "disabled" call like so: <h:form onsubmit="busyProcess();return true;"> Then everything works. Any ideas?

  • Javascript Shift+Enter (Firefox)

    - by Stephen MCGinley
Hi guys, Had a look and found some things on this, but nothing seems to work as I'd like it. Initially I had my solution working with internet explorer and chrome, but not firefox (which is unsatisfactory for me to not have working) What I'm looking for is a simple text area, which sends data on enter key, but creates a new line on Shift+Enter. The following is what I have function goReturn(e,str) { var e = (window.Event) ? e.which : e.keyCode; if (e.shiftKey && e=="13") { document.getElementById("wall").value = document.getElementById("wall").value+"\n"; } else if(e=="13"){ // ...continue to send data } } This sends the data on enter, but also sends the data on shift and enter (which is the problem I have). Thanks for any assistance

If i do there will be 2 or more cells with the same id How can I achieve this?

  • Javascript / Jquery Tree Travesal question

    - by Copper
Suppose I have the following <ul> <li>Item 1</li> <li>Item 2 <ul> <li>Sub Item</li> </ul> </li> <li>Item 3</li> </ul> This list is auto-generated by some other code (so adding exclusive id's/class' is out of the question. Suppose I have some jquery code that states that if I mouseover an li, it gets a background color. However, if I mouseover the "Sub Item" list item, "Item 2" will be highlighted as well. How can I make it so that if the user mouses over "Sub Item" it only puts a background color on that and not on "Item 2" as well?

  • Javascript Pointers question with Dates

    - by Mega Matt
I noticed this situation in my code (unfortunately), and was able to duplicate it in my own JS file. So I have this code: var date1 = new Date(); // today var date2 = date1; date2 = date2.setDate(date2.getDate() + 1); // what is date1? After this code executes, date1 is today's date + 1! This harkens back to my undergrad days when I learned about pointers, and I guess I'm a little rusty. Is that what's happening here? Obviously I've moved the assignment away from date1, and am only modifying date2, but date1 is being changed. Why is this the case? Incidentally, after this code executes date2 is a long number like 1272123603911. I assume this is the number of seconds in the date, but shouldn't date2 still be a Date object? setDate() should return a Date object... Thanks for the help.

  • Document width calculated via Javascript is different in Firefox compared to other browsers

    - by Scarpelius
I have a problem with retrieving the current page document width from Mozilla Firefox. While the rest of the browsers report the correct width of the document, Firefox reports a smaller one (example: at screen resolution of 1920x1080 IE, Chrome and Safari reports 1920 while Firefox reports 1903). I use document width in $(document).ready(function() { ... }); to reposition a div element. Funny this is that after using alert() inside this function, the element reposition correctly, though the document size is still smaller than other browsers.

  • Creating a Drop-Down Menu with Javascript

    - by iceteea
Question about logics here: What's the most elegant way to make the menu appear/disappear onmouseover/onmouseout? See the following JsBin: http://jsbin.com/owayeb/edit#source The Menu is hidden by default. If the user moves his cursor above the Link the showme() function gets called. When the user moves his cursor away the hideme() functions gets called. How would I get the Menu to persist while the user moves his mouse away from the Link to above the Menu? Or is this all the wrong school of thought?

  • A little javascript help needed here (easy).

    - by Camran
function addOption(selectbox, val, txt){ ...... } addOption(list, "Cars", "Cars"); I need to add this in front of the text of the function: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; So that there is space coming in before the option text...Never mind what it is for, it is just confusing... I just don't know how to insert it into the js code. If I do it like this: addOption(list, "Cars", "&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Cars"); Then the &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; comes into the text, so it gets displayed for the users. However I need it to be interpreted as "space"... If you don't understand let me know... How can I do this? Quotes, double quotes etc? Thanks
