  • JavaScript sorting array from nested array?

    - by Tim
    I have an array: letterFrequency = [["a", 12], ["b", 25], ["c", 34], ["d", 1], ["e", 35], ["f", 8], ["g", 7], ["h", 67], ["i", 35], ["j", 0], ["k", 53], ["l", 0], ["m", 0], ["n", 3], ["o", 0], ["p", 0], ["q", 3], ["r", 153], ["s", 0], ["t", 0], ["u", 15], ["v", 0], ["w", 0], ["x", 3], ["y", 0], ["z", 0]] and I want to sort it in descending order based on the number within the nested array i.e. letterFrequency[i][1]. So I want the most popular letter to be first. How would I do this?

  • Asign Id's dynamically to DOM elements with javascript.

    - by jnkrois
    Hello everybody, I just have a quick question about how to generate id's on-the-fly for HTML elements. So far I've tried a few things, I started with a "for" loop, I already know how many elements I have to generate Id's for, in this case I have an "ul" with 6 "li". My "for" loop is as follows: var items = $("ul li").length; for(var i = 0; i <= items; i++){ $("ul li").attr("id", "number" + i); } "number" would be the new id concatenated with "i", so I get a different Id for each "li". As you can probably tell, this does not work, because I end up with the same Id for each "li": in this case I get <li id="number6">... </li> for all the "li" elments in the "ul". I tried a "while" loop and ".each()" with jQuery but I get the exact same thing. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Javascript + IFrame + Chrome + Https = strange issue

    - by GuiDoody
    Using a modal plugin for jquery, I'm opening an iframe in a modal with a click event and setting the source attribute to a relative url (should be within https). The page containing the click is an authenticated ssl page. In IE and Safari, this works as expected. In Chrome and Firefox, the source url is opened in http not https. If I set the source to an absolute url using https, same result. Example: // This doesn't work - resolves to http $('.lnkViewDetails').click(function(e){ var src = "/ThePage"; $.modal('<iframe src="' + src + '" height="500" width="425" style="border:0" frameborder="no">'); }); // This doesn't work - also resolves to http $('.lnkViewDetails').click(function(e){ var src = "https://MySite.com/ThePage"; $.modal('<iframe src="' + src + '" height="500" width="425" style="border:0" frameborder="no">'); }); Anyone know a way to get around this?

  • Live clock javascript starts from my custom time

    - by newworroo
    I was trying to create a live/dynamic clock is based on my custom time instead of system time. There are many scripts, but I couldn't find the clock starts from my custom time. Here is an example that I'm trying to modify. The problem is the seconds doesn't change, and it looks like I need to use ajax. Is there any way to do it without ajax? If not, help me to do it using ajax!!! The reason I don't like ajax method is that another page should be called and refreshed, so it will eat server ram. ex) http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/cut2.shtml Before: <script> function show(){ var Digital=new Date() var hours=Digital.getHours() var minutes=Digital.getMinutes() var seconds=Digital.getSeconds() ... ... After: <script> function show(){ var Digital=new Date() var hours=<?php echo $hr; ?>; var minutes=<?php echo $min; ?>; var seconds=<?php echo $sec; ?>; ... ...

  • Collision Handling in Javascript - Particles Get Stuck

    - by Conner Ruhl
    I am trying to recreate this, and I have been fairly successful. I am having issues with the collision handling though. Although the collision handling seems to work, it has very strange behavior. Here is what I have so far. This is the code that handles collisions: var dx = particle2.getX() - particle1.getX(); var dy = particle2.getY() - particle1.getY(); var angle = Math.atan2(dy, dx); var newP2X = particle1.getX() + (particle1.getRadius() + particle2.getRadius()) * Math.cos(angle); var newP2Y = particle1.getY() + (particle1.getRadius() + particle2.getRadius()) * Math.sin(angle); particle2.setX(newP2X); particle2.setY(newP2Y); var p1Vxi = particle1.getVx(); var p1Vyi = particle1.getVy(); var p1Mass = particle1.getMass(); var p2Vxi = particle2.getVx(); var p2Vyi = particle2.getVy(); var p2Mass = particle2.getMass(); var vxf = (p1Mass * p1Vxi + p2Mass * p2Vxi) / (p1Mass + p2Mass); var vyf = (p1Mass * p1Vyi + p2Mass * p2Vyi) / (p1Mass + p2Mass); particle1.setVx(vxf); particle1.setVy(vyf); particle2.setVx(vxf); particle2.setVy(vyf); EDIT: I have tried to change it to inelastic collisions like suggested, but for some reason the balls collide erratically. Check it out here. Any help is much appreciated!

  • Redirect To Another Site With Header Information Attached Javascript

    - by Nick LaMarca
    I am trying to make a client side click and redirect to another site with header information added, my client side code for the onclick is this: function selectApp(appGUID, userId ,embedUrl) { if(embedUrl==="") { var success = setAppGUID(appGUID); window.location.replace('AppDetail.aspx'); } else { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: embedUrl, contentType: "text/html", beforeSend: function (xhr, settings) { xhr.setRequestHeader("UserId", userId); }, success: function (msg) { //go to slx window.location.replace(embedUrl); } }); } } And the server side code in "embedUrl" is protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { string isSet = (String)HttpContext.Current.Session["saveUserID"]; if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(isSet)) { NameValueCollection headers = base.Request.Headers; for (int i = 0; i < headers.Count; i++) { if (headers.GetKey(i).Equals("UserId")) { HttpContext.Current.Session["saveUserID"] = headers.Get(i); } } } else { TextBox1.Text = HttpContext.Current.Session["saveUserID"].ToString(); } } This seems to work but its not too elegant. Is there a way to redirect with header data? Without (what Im doing) Saving header info in a session var then doing a redirect in 2 seperate pieces.

  • Javascript ( jQuery ) Error: SyntaxError: missing ) after argument list

    - by Obmerk Kronen
    I have the simplest function : jQuery(document).ajaxSuccess(function(e, xhr, settings) { var widget_id_base = '099_cf_samurai_widget'; if(settings.data.search('action=save-widget') != -1 && settings.data.search('id_base=' + widget_id_base) != -1) { // alert(\'yay!'\); my_function_chosen_099(); } }); function my_function_chosen_099(){ jQuery(".chzn-select").chosen(); } which works just fine , but When I add the width Parameter like so : function my_function_chosen_k99(){ jQuery(".chzn-select").chosen(width:'95%'); } it gives me an error of: Error: SyntaxError: missing ) after argument list Source File: http://localhost/my-path/js/o99.chosen.init.js?ver=k99 Line: 20, Column: 41 Source Code: jQuery(".chzn-select").chosen(width:"95%"); .............................................| I have tried escaping: jQuery(".chzn-select").chosen(width:\"95%"\); and even double jQuery(".chzn-select").chosen(width:\\"95%"\\); and in my desperation, even jQuery(".chzn-select").chosen( width:"95%" ); I checked and rechecked the closing of brackets , and also tried with single quotes ' - but nothing . There appear to be a lot of similar questions here , but all I saw was escaping problems, ANd I have tried all that I know .. What is wrong here ?? I assume it is not a simple syntax error - or is it ? ( one which I can not find .. )

  • Split a sting array into a number array in javascript

    - by Wesley Skeen
    I am reading a value from a dropdown list depending on what option is selected. I am using jqPlot to graph the values. jqPlot expects an array of values like [91, 6, 2, 57, 29, 40, 95] but when I read the value in from the dropdown box it is coming in as a whole string "[91, 6, 2, 57, 29, 40, 95]" I tried splitting it but I got ["91", "6", "2", "57", "29", "40", "95"] which wont display the graph correctly. Is there anybody that has encountered something like this before and what can I do to make my values convert into a number array. Thanks for any help

  • trouble with a javascript Cannot read property 'value' of

    - by Stanislas Piotrowski
    I've done a function but I do not understand why, a part of it does not work. Actualy I use the methode using className and Id. Here is the part of the code: var items = new Array(); var itemCount = document.getElementsByClassName("items"); for(var i = 0; i < itemCount.length; i++) { items[i] = document.getElementById("p"+(i+1)).value; } return items; } And in jsfiddle the html part that show that this Id exist. So it should not return to me this errors: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'value' of null fiddle.jshell.net:402 the concerned line is the following: items[i] = document.getElementById("p"+(i+1)).value; http://jsfiddle.net/Wt4qd/ Kind Regards SP.

  • Javascript How do I force a string + variable to be evaluated as a variable

    - by Craig Rinde
    Im not even sure how to word this and is probably why I am having trouble finding an answer in google. When the code is run currentCardRow will equal 1 therefore it should be cardSelected1 which is what is shown in the console.log. I need it to go a step further because cardSelected1 is a variable and I need it to evaluate show in the console log as Invitation. Invitation is an example of a variable for cardSelected1. I am not sure on what the correct syntax is to make this happen. var currentCardSelected = "cardSelected" + currentCardRow; Thanks for your help!

  • Create an object with javascript reflection?

    - by acidzombie24
    I am doing something wrong. At the end of this o is empty. I want to pass in a string such as a=3&zz=5 and do o.a and o.zz to retrieve 3 and 5. How do i generate this object? function MakeIntoFields_sz(sz) { var kvLs = sz.split('&'); var o = new Array(); for (var kv in kvLs) { var kvA = kvLs[kv].split('='); var k = ''; var v = ''; if (kvA.length > 0) { k = kvA[0]; if (kvA.length > 1) v = kvA[1]; o[k] = v; } } return o; };

  • JavaScript sleep

    - by Diazath
    yes, i know - that question has thousands of answers. please, don't tell me about "setTimeout" method becasuse - yes, everything is possible with that but not so easy as using sleep() method. for example: function fibonacci(n) { console.log("Computing Fibonacci for " + n + "..."); var result = 0; //wait 1 second before computing for lower n sleep(1000); result = (n <= 1) ? 1 : (fibonacci(n - 1) + fibonacci(n - 2)); //wait 1 second before announcing the result sleep(1000); console.log("F(" + n + ") = " + result); return result; } if you know how to get the same result using setTimeout - tell me ;) fibanacci is pretty easy task, because there not more than 2 recursions, but how about n-recursions (like fib(1) + fib(2) + .. + fib(n) and sleep after every "+"? nah, sleep would be muuuuuch easier. but still i can't get working example of implementing it. while (curr - start < time) { curr = (...) } is tricky, but it won't work (just stops my browser and then throw all console.logs at once).
