• Rename INDEX Column

  Hey All I have a database with around 40 tables and need to rename every index column. IE USER a table has a bunch of fields like user_id | user_username | user_password | etc... I want to rename the ID columns just to id ie id | user_username | user_password | etc... But I keep getting mysql errors on the alter table command ie. ALTER TABLE database RENAME COLUMN user_id to id; Plus many different variations. Whats the best way to do this ? Hope you can advise

• Creating WebService test harness

  Hello, I am trying to create a test harness for our QA staff to test our internal web services. I would like to create a web app that will allow them to enter a uri then submit. The web app will then interrogate the uri to get the appropriate parameters expected and returns with a generated input form. I know, this would be similar to SOAPUI and others. However, I feel it would be earier for them to be able to just use a form with entry fields and click a button to invoke the service and get the results back for display in the web app. In addition, I could create some custom logic that allows them to generate specific behavior they need. Has anybody done anything like this? I have searched and have found similar functionality but nothing close enough to help me. If you need more details please let me know.   I have this Associative Array : $Fields = array("row0"=>"Yahoo ID", "row1"=>"MSN ID", "row2"=> "Gtalk ID"); on the other side, I have this SQL query : SELECT YahooID, MSNID, GTalkID From UserTable WHERE Username = '$Username' LIMIT 1; the result maybe vary, because some users only have Yahoo ID and some have others. for example if I have this result : $row[0] = NONE //means YahooID = NONE $row[1] = [email protected] $row[2] = [email protected] then how to have this as an output (echo) : MSN ID = [email protected] Gtalk ID = [email protected] since Yahoo ID is not exist, then the result will be MSN and Gtalk only. 'MSN ID' and 'Gtalk ID' is variable from Associative Array, while '[email protected]' and '[email protected]' from SQL result. thanks!

  Hey guys quick question, I currently have an insert statement $query= "INSERT into new_mail VALUES ('$to1', '0')"; where fields are username, and message_number Currently what I would do to check if the entry exists, is do a select query then check the number of rows with mysql_num_rows (php). If rows==1 then I get the current message_number and set it equal to $row['message_number']++1. Then I update that entry with another query. Is there an easier way to do all this in just mysql with just one query (check if exists, if not insert, if so update message_number, increase by 1)?

• What is an instance of a field called?

  This might be an odd question, but it has actually caused me some headache. In Object oriented programming, there are accepted names for key concepts. In our model, we have classes with methods and fields. Now, going to the data world: An instance of a class is called an object. An instance of a field is called... what? A value? Isn't the term value a little broad for this? I have been offered "property" as well, but isn't property also part of the model and not the data? (This is not purely academic, I am actually coding these concepts.)

I want create a single record for these three records based on substring(name,1,4) place_code ( I am lucky here for all the similar records satisfies this condition and unique in the table .) For the other columns which record column length has max . For example again for the above 3 records email should be [email protected] , phone should be 657890 and details should be "testdetails" This should be done for all the table . • Most efficient way to maintain a 'set' in SQL Server?

  I have ~2 million rows or so of data, each row with an artificial PK, and two Id fields (so: PK, ID1, ID2). I have a unique constraint (and index) on ID1+ID2. I get two sorts of updates, both with a distinct ID1 per update. 100-1000 rows of all-new data (ID1 is new) 100-1000 rows of largely, but not necessarily completely overlapping data (ID1 already exists, maybe new ID1+ID2 pairs) What's the most efficient way to maintain this 'set'? Here are the options as I see them: Delete all the rows with ID1, insert all the new rows (yikes) Query all the existing rows from the set of new data ID1+ID2, only insert the new rows Insert all the new rows, ignore inserts that trigger unique constraint violations Any thoughts?

• Replace data in MySQL table with data from another table

  I am trying to modify an existing MySQL database for use in a new application. I have a table of items (table_items), which has multiple fields, including "ItemID" and "ItemName". I have another table (table_list) which has "ItemName" in it, but no ItemID. I need to either update this table to contain ItemID instead of ItemName, or create a new table which imports ItemIDs from table_items as opposed to the ItemName when table_list.ItemName = table_items.ItemName. I have tried the following: UPDATE table_list A, table_items B SET A.ItemName = B.ItemID WHERE A.ItemName = B.ItemName The current table has over 500,000 rows and every time i try this in PHPMyAdmin i get the error "the MySQl server has gone away". Any help greatly appreciated.

I predict what I can find some problems with validations. But I really need some fields created by user via admin-panel (now I'm talking about Item Properties, which can be changed in any time)

• Class structure for the proposed data and its containers ?

  First I would like to wish a happy new year to everyone that may read this :) I am having trouble on how to make a container for some data that I am importing into my application, and I am not sure on how to explain this very well and my english is not really a that good so I hope you can bear with my mistake and help me with some guidance. Currently with a foreach I am importing the follow fields from the data I receive: guid, itemid, name, owner(optional, can be null), zoneid, titleid, subid, heading, x, y, z, typeA, typeB, typeC From the above fields I need to store a Waypoint list of all coords a given item has moved to BUT for each guid I have a new list of waypoints. And from the waypoint list the first entry is also my initial item start location which would be my item initial position (if you notice i have a separate list for it which I was not sure would be better or not) not all items have a waypoint list but all items have the first position.   Hello! I am creating a small yatzy game and i have run into some regex problems. I need to verify certain criteria to see if they are met. The fields one to six is very straight forward the problem comes after that. Like trying to create a regex that matches the ladder. The Straight should contain one of the following characters 1-5. It must contain one of each to pass but i can't figure out how to check for it. I was thinking /1{1}2{1}3{1}4{1}5{1}/g; but that only matches if they come in order. How can i check if they don't come in the correct order?

  Hi Hi have an observable collection that I bind to a DataGrid using the itemsource property of the DataGrid. All the properties of the class inside the collection are displayed properly in the DataGrid. Now, I want to hide some fields to the DataGrid using the browsable attribute [Browsable(false)] in the class. It works well in winforms, but it seems not working in WPF. Someone knows why? I can hide the columns later, but I don't want to loss performance in this way. Is there any other solution? Thanks.

• Description format for an embedded structure

  Hi, I have a C structure that allow users to configure options in an embedded system. Currently the GUI we use for this is custom written for every different version of this configuration structure. What I'd like for is to be able to describe the structure members in some format that can be read by the client configuration application, making it universal across all of our systems. I've experimented with describing the structure in XML and having the client read the file; this works in most cases except those where some of the fields have inter-dependencies. So the format that I use needs to have a way to specify these; for instance, member A must always be less than or equal to half of member B. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions.

• ExtJS panel does not render properly unless I open Firebug - WTF?

  I have the following ExtJS Panel embedded in another Panel, which then resides in a TabPanel and the TabPanel is in a FormPanel. With that being said, these start/end date fields are initially displayed in very small cells -- the cells are so small that I see horizontal scroll bars. Now here's the weird part: if I open Firebug, everything pops into place. Does anyone know what's going on? • Possible to exclude or reorder a column from `*` ?

  Is it possible to exclude a column from a select * from table statement with SQL Server? I have a need for this and this is my only option other than parsing a raw SQL string to get out the required field names (I really don't want to do that). Just to be bold. When the query is made I do not have access to the list of fields needed from the table but I do know which field I do not need. This is part of a complex multi-part query. Surely there must be some way even if it's "hackish" such as using table variables or views My other option is to reorder the columns. My problem is with ExecuteScalar SQL functions which get the first row and first column.

  I am using Crystal Reports 2011. I am totally new to crystal reports and reporting tools in general. I just added my data fields to the details section, but instead of showing all the rows in one page, a new page is created for each row. I did not use any grouping or change the section paging settings. This only happens for a blank report, when using the report wizard it works fine, but I can't see the difference between what I did and what the report wizard did.

Let say I have opened a java file in the editor that has the following fields in it: private String world = " world!" private String hello = "hello" + world; When I select "hello" in the Outline view I'm able to get IFiled selection and I have access to it's properties, but what i need is the true value of the field ("hello world!").   So far in my .Net coding adventures I've only had a need to save information to files. So I've used XmlSerializer and DataContractSerializer to serialize attributed classes to XML files. My next project, however, requires that I save and retrieve information from a SQL server database. I'm wondering what my options are for doing this. The current version of the app, which was not created by me, uses a lot of hard coded SQL commands. But now I'm trying to avoid doing anything where I have to read or write individual fields to or from the database or objects. I especially want to avoid a lot of hard coded SQL in my code. I like how the serializer classes just figure out how to read and write XML files based on the attributes and or public properties of the class. Is there something similar for a database rather then XML?

So my question here is: How can I set a custom getter for the field the Child class inherits from Parent without define an overriding property?

• Getting time from a cell in Google Spreadsheet

  Hi I have created a Google Spreadsheet form in which for one of the fields I get the time (hh:mm:ss) in 24-hour format. I am using Google Apps Scripts to read values from this spreadsheet and put it into another file. But the other file gets the entire date (don't know from where) and shows a date from 1899. Also the time is shown in PDT (not my time zone). Even the time it prints is not correct How do I read the column value as a string and put it in the other file OR get just the time from the column value (and the correct time) I am using a simple row[0][3] to get the values from an array after doing range.getValues() Thanks.
