    What is a quick, elegant way of using MatLab to form a subarray around a particular element? Element are selected randomly from the data, so you can't take a subarray in the normal way (it has to be generalized for the elements that are selected). What I mean is, forming an array for example 5x5 or 7x7 or something, where the middle element is the one you want.

  • Hibernate and stored procedures

    As my understanding on setting hibernate, I need to create table meta data file (person.hbm.xml), include all the fields mapping java object (person.java) If we use stored procedures for all transaction, do we still need the above configuration? It seems hibernate and stored procedures will overlap, We set up the stored procedure because we don't want the to developer know all the field in db. If tables change, then we need update above files. Does it mean if we purely use stored procedure, we should just go for JDBC? If hibernate, we should stay in HQL?

    Hi, I am using Java Date and Hibernate which is then being saved in the database (Postgresql). I am not that good in hibernate Part of the Mapping File <property name="DateOfBirth" type="java.util.Date"> <column name="DATEOFBIRTH" /> </property> I am using GWT Date picker Short date format i.e. yyyy-MM-dd. I am getting the value from the date picker using View.getUserDateOfBirth().getValue() But when I am saving the date 2010-11-30 into the datebase it is saving it as 2010-11-30 00:00:00 instead of 2010-11-30 So, I want it to be saved in the database as in this format 2010-11-30?? I have many things such timestamp but i not being able to configure it. I think this part <property name="DateOfBirth" type="java.util.Date"> <column name="DATEOFBIRTH" /> </property> should be changed but I do not know what to change

  • Problems with ASP.NET State Service version; state service is 1.1, website is 3.5

    Hi there, I have a ASP.NET 3.5 website running on Windows Server 2003 and I'm using the ASP.NET State Service to manage sessions. It will appear to be working then I regularly get an error saying my code needs to have version 2.0 of the State Service running to work (I think that's what it said, I've temporarily switched back to storing sessions InProc). Refresh the page and the error goes away (for a bit, it's bound to come back). So I looked at the properties of the ASP.NET State Service in the Services interface and it's mapping to a .exe in the 1.1 framework folder: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\aspnet_state.exe There's a corresponding version in the 2.0 framework folder, but I don't know how to add it as a new service. I'm also not sure that adding the 2.0 version (and stopping and/or removing the 1.1 version) will solve the problem. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide. Mick

    I'm having a problem in mapping an existing data class member to the database.. I have a database table where one of the columns is a string type, but actually stores a comma separated list of numbers. My data class shows this field as a list of integers. The problem is that I couldn't find any hook in NHibernate that allows me to invoke the custom code that is required to replace the string field by the list and vice versa. To illustrate (simplified of course): The database table: CREATE TABLE dummy ( id serial, numlist text -- (can store values such as '1,2,3') ) The data class: class Dummy { public int Id; public List<int> NumbersList; } Can anyone help?

  • With VIM, use both snipMate and pydiction together (share the <tab> key?)

    I am trying to use snipMate and pydiction in vim together - however, both use the <tab> key to perform their genius-auto-completion-snippet-rendering-goodness-that-I-so-desire. When pydiction is installed, snipMate stops working. I assume its because they can't both own the <tab> key. How can I get them to work together? I wouldn't mind mapping one of them to a different key, but I am not really sure how to do this ... (maybe pydiction to the <ctrl-n> key so it mimics vim's autocomplete?).   • Button with image and loading element id when clicked

    Hello guys, I've made an application that makes full use of ajax, and what I need to do is: I want a button with a description + image that when clicked is disabled and instead of the original image in the button, appears the ajax loading element id inside the button. And when the ajax loading is complete, the original image of the button returns to the normal. Is there any good source on how to do something like this? What do you guys suggest?

    I have two objects that have a ManyToMany relationship with one another through a mapping table. Though, when I try to save it, I get a stack overflow exception.     The advantages of DI, as far as I am aware, are: Reduced Dependencies More Reusable Code More Testable Code More Readable Code Say I have a repository, OrderRepository, which acts as a repository for an Order object generated through a Linq to Sql dbml. I can't make my orders repository generic as it performs mapping between the Linq Order entity and my own Order POCO domain class. Since the OrderRepository by necessity is dependent on a specific Linq to Sql DataContext, parameter passing of the DataContext can't really be said to make the code reuseable or reduce dependencies in any meaningful way. It also makes the code harder to read, as to instantiate the repository I now need to write new OrdersRepository(new MyLinqDataContext()) which additionally is contrary to the main purpose of the repository, that being to abstract/hide the existence of the DataContext from consuming code. So in general I think this would be a pretty horrible design, but it would give the benefit of facilitating unit testing. Is this enough justification? Or is there a third way? I'd be very interested in hearing opinions.

  • How to determine if a machine is running Active Directory

    I would like to know from Java code if the machine that I'm on is running active directory or that it has active directory installed (e.g. service may be stopped). Is there a reliable registry key to inspect? This is specifically for Windows 2008. I found info on the web that mentions HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSDTC\Security\DomainControllerState, but that value is 0 on my domain controller as well as on my normal windows 7 machine!?

In a normal grails app, there is a conf/Config.groovy file for that, but for a plugin there is none. Is there another way to achieve this ?     I want to know how do you manage your vim plugins. As it is, One of the biggest fun of using is that one can easily try many interesing new plugins, just download it and unzip it in under ~/.vim. But if you try too often and try too much, you might get trouble as confilct of key mapping , in compatitble script version, dpendency between different plugin ..... Then you want to remove some plugin ,kind of like rollback your vim to a sound condition. But, the rollback could be very painful . cus for some "giant" plugin, like perl-support ( it's great plugin, anyway), will consist of many vim scripts which spread in different dirctories. To remove single one giant plugin will be anoying, not too mention if you remvoe many plugin at one time. In a word , I'm looking for good practice for managing vim plugins.

    Hi, In my Grails app, I'm using the Searchable plugin for searching/indexing. I want to write a Compass/Lucene query that involves multiple domain classes. Within that query when I want to refer to the id of a class, I can't simply use 'id' because all classes have an 'id' property. Currently, I work around this problem by adding the following property to a class Foo public Long getFooId() { return id } static transients = ['fooId'] Then when I want to refer to the id of Foo within a query I use 'fooId'. Is there a way I can provide an alias for a property in the searchable mapping rather than adding a property to the class?

  • Use only some parts of Django?

    I like Django, but for a particular application I would like to use only parts of it, but I'm not familiar enough with how Django works on the inside, so maybe someone can point me into the right direction as to what I have to check out. Specifically, I want to use: The models and database abstraction The caching API, although I want to avoid database lookups by caching, not HTML generation, and since the caching framework in Django is intended for the latter, I'm not sure yet whether that's really appropriate. I would not use: Templating urlconfigs Or, more exactly, I'm neither using HTTP nor HTML. So basically, I have a different input / output chain than usual. Can this work? My personal killer feature in Django is the Object / database mapping that I can do with the models, so if there's another technology (doesn't have to be Python, I'm in the design phase and I'm pretty agnostic about languages and platforms) that gives me the same abilities, that would be great, too.

  • JWPlayer plays videos at 3x speed on the first run, then works fine in subsequent runs on the same p

    Go here: http://nano.materials.drexel.edu/research/videolibrary For some bizarre reason, the videos will play at 3x speed on the first run through, but then will play at normal speed each subsequent play. This doesn't happen all the time, and it's not always the same video(s) that do it. I'm utterly baffled. I've reconverted the videos from m4p to flv (using BitComet's converter) several times, double checking the settings each time through with no change to the behavior. Anyone have a clue what's going on?
