    So everything in Ubuntu has been working great until networking stopped working. I've spent the better part of two days scouring for a fix with no luck. Here is my info...your help would so be appreciated. grep -i eth /var/log/syslog | tail Sep 25 16:31:59 jj-laptop NetworkManager[970]: <info> (eth0): cleaning up... • CUDA Kernel Not Updating Global Variable

    - by Taher Khokhawala
    I am facing the following problem in a CUDA kernel. There is an array "cu_fx" in global memory. Each thread has a unique identifier jj and a local loop variable ii and a local float variable temp. Following code is not working. It is not at all changing cu_fx[jj]. At the end of loop cu_fx[jj] remains 0. ii = 0; cu_fx[jj] = 0; while(ii < l) { if(cu_y[ii] > 0) cu_fx[jj] += (cu_mu[ii]*cu_Kernel[(jj-start_row)*Kernel_w + ii]); else cu_fx[jj] -= (cu_mu[ii]*cu_Kernel[(jj-start_row)*Kernel_w + ii]); ii++; } But when I rewrite it using a temporary variable temp, it works fine. ii = 0; temp = 0; while(ii < l) { if(cu_y[ii] > 0) temp += (cu_mu[ii]*cu_Kernel[(jj-start_row)*Kernel_w + ii]); else temp -= (cu_mu[ii]*cu_Kernel[(jj-start_row)*Kernel_w + ii]); ii++; } cu_fx[jj] = temp; Can somebody please help with this problem. Thanking in advance.

  • Template Sort In C++

    - by wdow88
    Hey all, I'm trying to write a sort function but am having trouble figuring out how to initialize a value, and making this function work as a generic template. The sort works by: Find a pair =(ii,jj)= with a minimum value = ii+jj = such at A[ii]A[jj] If such a pair exists, then swap A[ii] and A[jj] else break; The function I have written is as follows: template <typename T> void sort(T *A, int size) { T min =453; T temp=0; bool swapper = true; while(swapper) { swapper = false; int index1 = 0, index2 = 0; for (int ii = 0; ii < size-1; ii++){ for (int jj = ii + 1; jj < size; jj++){ if((min >= (A[ii]+A[jj])) && (A[ii] > A[jj])){ min = (A[ii]+A[jj]); index1 = ii; index2 = jj; swapper = true; } } } if (!swapper) return; else { temp = A[index1]; A[index1] = A[index2]; A[index2] = temp; sort(A,size); } } } This function will successfully sort an array of integers, but not an array of chars. I do not know how to properly initialize the min value for the start of the comparison. I tried initializing the value by simply adding the first two elements of the array together (min = A[0] + A[1]), but it looks to me like for this algorithm it will fail. I know this is sort of a strange type of sort, but it is practice for a test, so thanks for any input.

  • Performance in backpropagation algorithm

    - by Taban
    I've written a matlab program for standard backpropagation algorithm, it is my homework and I should not use matlab toolbox, so I write the entire code by myself. This link helped me for backpropagation algorithm. I have a data set of 40 random number and initial weights randomly. As output, I want to see a diagram that shows the performance. I used mse and plot function to see performance for 20 epochs but the result is this: I heard that performance should go up through backpropagation, so I want to know is there any problem with my code or this result is normal because local minimums. This is my code: Hidden_node=inputdlg('Enter the number of Hidden nodes'); a=0.5;%initialize learning rate hiddenn=str2num(Hidden_node{1,1}); randn('seed',0); %creating data set s=2; N=10; m=[5 -5 5 5;-5 -5 5 -5]; S = s*eye(2); [l,c] = size(m); x = []; % Creating the training set for i = 1:c x = [x mvnrnd(m(:,i)',S,N)']; end % target value toutput=[ones(1,N) zeros(1,N) ones(1,N) zeros(1,N)]; for epoch=1:20; %number of epochs for kk=1:40; %number of patterns %initial weights of hidden layer for ii=1 : 2; for jj=1 :hiddenn; whidden{ii,jj}=rand(1); end end initial the wights of output layer for ii=1 : hiddenn; woutput{ii,1}=rand(1); end for ii=1:hiddenn; x1=x(1,kk); x2=x(2,kk); w1=whidden{1,ii}; w2=whidden{2,ii}; activation{1,ii}=(x1(1,1)*w1(1,1))+(x2(1,1)*w2(1,1)); end %calculate output of hidden nodes for ii=1:hiddenn; hidden_to_out{1,ii}=logsig(activation{1,ii}); end activation_O{1,1}=0; for jj=1:hiddenn; activation_O{1,1} = activation_O{1,1}+(hidden_to_out{1,jj}*woutput{jj,1}); end %calculate output out{1,1}=logsig(activation_O{1,1}); out_for_plot(1,kk)= out{1,ii}; %calculate error for output node delta_out{1,1}=(toutput(1,kk)-out{1,1}); %update weight of output node for ii=1:hiddenn; woutput{ii,jj}=woutput{ii,jj}+delta_out{1,jj}*hidden_to_out{1,ii}*dlogsig(activation_O{1,jj},logsig(activation_O{1,jj}))*a; end %calculate error of hidden nodes for ii=1:hiddenn; delta_hidden{1,ii}=woutput{ii,1}*delta_out{1,1}; end %update weight of hidden nodes for ii=1:hiddenn; for jj=1:2; whidden{jj,ii}= whidden{jj,ii}+(delta_hidden{1,ii}*dlogsig(activation{1,ii},logsig(activation{1,ii}))*x(jj,kk)*a); end end a=a/(1.1);%decrease learning rate end %calculate performance e=toutput(1,kk)-out_for_plot(1,1); perf(1,epoch)=mse(e); end plot(perf); Thanks a lot.

  • WCF Operations and Multidimensional Arrays

    - by JoshReuben
    You cant pass MultiD arrays accross the wire using WCF - you need to pass jagged arrays. heres 2 extension methods that will allow you to convert prior to serialzation and convert back after deserialization:         public static T[,] ToMultiD<T>(this T[][] jArray)         {             int i = jArray.Count();             int j = jArray.Select(x => x.Count()).Aggregate(0, (current, c) => (current > c) ? current : c);                         var mArray = new T[i, j];             for (int ii = 0; ii < i; ii++)             {                 for (int jj = 0; jj < j; jj++)                 {                     mArray[ii, jj] = jArray[ii][jj];                 }             }             return mArray;         }         public static T[][] ToJagged<T>(this T[,] mArray)         {             var cols = mArray.GetLength(0);             var rows = mArray.GetLength(1);             var jArray = new T[cols][];             for (int i = 0; i < cols; i++)             {                 jArray[i] = new T[rows];                 for (int j = 0; j < rows; j++)                 {                     jArray[i][j] = mArray[i, j];                 }             }             return jArray;         } enjoy!

  • Should you create a class within a method?

    - by Amndeep7
    I have made a program using Java that is an implementation of this project: http://nifty.stanford.edu/2009/stone-random-art/sml/index.html. Essentially, you create a mathematical expression and, using the pixel coordinate as input, make a picture. After I initially implemented this in serial, I then implemented it in parallel due to the fact that if the picture size is too large or if the mathematical expression is too complex (especially considering the fact that I made the expression recursively), it takes a really long time. During this process, I realized that I needed two classes which implemented the Runnable interface as I had to put in parameters for the run method, which you aren't allowed to do directly. One of these classes ended up being a medium sized static inner class (not large enough to make an independent class file for it though). The other though, just needed a few parameters to determine some indexes and the size of the for loop that I was making run in parallel - here it is: class DataConversionRunnable implements Runnable { int jj, kk, w; DataConversionRunnable(int column, int matrix, int wid) { jj = column; kk = matrix; w = wid; } public void run() { for(int i = 0; i < w; i++) colorvals[kk][jj][i] = (int) ((raw[kk][jj][i] + 1.0) * 255 / 2.0); increaseCounter(); } } My question is should I make it a static inner class or can I just create it in a method? What is the general programming convention followed in this case?

  • Multi Seat Ubuntu 10.10

    - by JJ Mcfly
    Hi I was hoping to have a 2 seat setup. One will be for my TV just going to run Boxee. The other is for my main Desktop. I've been looking for a good guide to help me navigate this, I'd like to use ubuntu 10.10. I am assuming it's just a case of getting a box + 2 graphics adaptors and 2 usb mice and keyboards, one of which will be bluetooth for the TV. I can't seem to find much documentation on this idea. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also I am assuming that this is all possible with a standard ubuntu install, but with some additional configuration. Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer me JJ Mcfly

  • how to use iterator in c++?

    - by tsubasa
    I'm trying to calculate distance between 2 points. The 2 points I stored in a vector in c++: (0,0) and (1,1). I'm supposed to get results as 0 1.4 1.4 0 but the actual result that I got is 0 1 -1 0 I think there's something wrong with the way I use iterator in vector. Could somebody help? I posted the code below. typedef struct point { float x; float y; } point; float distance(point *p1, point *p2) { return sqrt((p1->x - p2->x)*(p1->x - p2->x) + (p1->y - p2->y)*(p1->y - p2->y)); } int main() { vector <point> po; point p1; p1.x=0; p1.y=0; point p2; p2.x=1; p2.y=1; po.push_back(p1); po.push_back(p2); vector <point>::iterator ii; vector <point>::iterator jj; for (ii=po.begin(); ii!=po.end(); ii++) { for (jj=po.begin(); jj!=po.end(); jj++) { cout<<distance(ii,jj)<<" "; } } return 0; }

    - by Jj Zhang
    I'm a new user of dynatree plugin. When I read the documentation, I found the list of tree and node class member functions, such as tree.getRoot(), node.countChildren(). However, when I tried to use them, it complained that no such methods were found. Here is a sample code I am testing with: var tree = ("#test").dynatree(treeData); var rootNode = tree.getRoot(); //not working var rootNode2 = ("#test").dynatree("getRoot"); //this works var numChildren = rootNode2.countChildren(); //not working Help please. • PHP MYSQL FPDF retrieving pdf string stored as blob.

    - by jj.amonit
    Using the above technologies, I want to create a PDF, store it in my db, and email it. All with the click of one button. I also want to call it up and have it be able to display with a hyperlink. I am very new to FPDF. Therefore, I am trying to start off very slowly. I began with this link stackoverflow Q I put both parts of his code into the same page and tried with separate pages. I made the suggested changes/additions and even did a line by line comparison. I still get the message, "format error: not a PDF or corrupted" If I just $pdf-Output(); I get the pdf to display. It's either the way the string is being Output, or it's the header() function. It's not the storage method, unless my column setup is incorrect. BUt a blob is a blob, right? If you want, I can upload the sanitized code. Just let me know what would help answer this. Thanks JJ

The problem is : I cant read an input from nn.java Kindly give me a solution... If i am able to: get the terminal pop up with executing the nn.class,and i am able to enter the input,then it will do... Thanks in advance...

  • See former key sequences in vim

    - by Vasiliy Sharapov
    Sometimes I share screen shots and clips of vim usage with others. It would be nice to expand on the part of the status bar highlighted in this picture: I would like some way to make previous key sequences visible as well, such as: y2w jj f[ p 2d - You can see the key sequences leading up to the current one. I'll elaborate on my wish list at the bottom. Is something like this is available as a plugin or vim script? The sheer number of scripts available on vim online makes this hard to find by keyword. Some features I would hope for (but seem improbable): Delimit key sequences with a non-keyboard character instead of space, and a different one for the current command, so y2w jj f[ p 2d might become y2w¦jj¦f[¦p » 2d Replace keys that have a letter alternative with the alternative, such as the right arrow key - ^[[C with the equivalent l. Edit: To clarify, the right arrow key is a valid key in vim, but has no character to represent it, the l key preforms the same function and could/should substitute it. Have previous keystrokes run all the way to the beginning of the line (instead of just one or two), and just have vim's command prompt overwrite it when necessary. Replace some keystrokes with a more elegant alternative, for example hhhhh with 5h or more impressively d2f) with d% (in the appropriate situation).

    Hello everybody, I'm having trouble with overloading operator() with a const version: #include <iostream> #include <vector> using namespace std; class Matrix { public: Matrix(int m, int n) { vector<double> tmp(m, 0.0); data.resize(n, tmp); } ~Matrix() { } const double & operator()(int ii, int jj) const { cout << " - const-version was called - "; return data[ii][jj]; } double & operator()(int ii, int jj) { cout << " - NONconst-version was called - "; if (ii!=1) { throw "Error: you may only alter the first row of the matrix."; } return data[ii][jj]; } protected: vector< vector<double> > data; }; int main() { try { Matrix A(10,10); A(1,1) = 8.8; cout << "A(1,1)=" << A(1,1) << endl; cout << "A(2,2)=" << A(2,2) << endl; double tmp = A(3,3); } catch (const char* c) { cout << c << endl; } } This gives me the following output: NONconst-version was called - - NONconst-version was called - A(1,1)=8.8 NONconst-version was called - Error: you may only alter the first row of the matrix. How can I achieve that C++ call the const-version of operator()? I am using GCC 4.4.0. Thanks for your help! Sebastian

  • SQL 2005 AD Group permission levels

    - by jj.
    I'm trying to give permissions to a (sql 2005) database app based on AD groups. The general idea is to require a user to have a membership to "app_users" to view anything, and membership to other groups gives them write access to that group. "app_customers" gives write access to the customers module, "app_sales" to sales, etc. I've listed an example below: user1: AD member of app_users user2: AD member of app_users, app_customers For dbo.customers table: app_users - Granted: Select permission - Denied: Insert, Update, Delete app_customers - Granted: Select permission - Granted: Insert, Update, Delete I would expect user1 to be able to view the dbo.customers table, but will not be allowed to modify anything (insert/update/delete) - which works. In the same vein, I would expect user2 to be able to view AND modify the dbo.customers table, since they are a member of app_customers. However, this is not the case. Instead, user2 is denied any modifications just like user1. I seem to remember something about deny permissions winning if there was a conflict, but it's honestly been too long since I've dealt with them. Am I going about this the right way? Thanks for your time!

  • Exchange 2010 SP2 Not Allowing Logon for Users with Expired Passwords

    - by JJ.
    When we provision users we set the "User must change password at next logon" flag and instruct them to go to OWA to login for the first time and change their password. Using the registry setting ChangeExpiredPasswordEnabled as explained here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb684904.aspx worked well prior to SP2 installation. This allows users with 'expired' passwords to logon and forces a password change before they can access OWA. We just installed Exchange 2010 Service Pack 2 and now it's no longer working. Users with this flag set ('expired' passwords) can't login in at all unless we clear the flag. FYI here's the registry key configuration as set now with SP2 installed: Any suggestions as to how I might fix this? Or did MS break this feature in Service Pack 2?

    I am trying to setup reporting services on a SQL server 2008 and get this error message when I try to connect to the http://localhost/reports The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized. I asked the server administrator and the IIS should be running (can't find it under administrative tools though) I used the Reporting Services Configuration manager to setup reporting services and am pretty sure it is setup correct.
