  • Getting Cabal to work with GHC 6.12.1

    I've installed the latest GHC package (6.12.1) on OS X, but I can't get Cabal to work. I've removed the version I had previously that worked with GHC 6.10 and tried to re-install from scratch. The latest Cabal version available for download is 1.6.0.2. However, when I try to build this I get the following error: Configuring Cabal-1.6.0.2... Setup: failed to parse output of 'ghc-pkg dump' From what I've found searching, this seems to suggest that the version of Cabal is too old for the version of GHC. Is there any way to get Cabal to work with GHC 6.12.1 yet? EDIT: To be clear, I'm trying to set-up cabal-install.

  • Getting Custom NSCell with NSButtonCell instance to handle mouse click/mouse events

    OK I'm really stumped on this one. I want to make a checkbox with a NSTextFieldCell combined together. It's important that the checkbox goes ON if the mouse hits the box, NOT the text. I've accomplished this, more or less, but the issue is receiving the mouse event because I click one checkbox in a row, but ALL of them turn to NSOnState. I will show what I've done and my various failed attempts in order to get this to work.   • TypeInitializationException When Getting an NHibernate Session

    I’ve run into what appears to be an NHibernate config problem. Basically, I ran up a simple proof of concept persistence integration test using NUnit, the test simply querys an Oracle database and successfully returns the last record received by the underlying table. However, when the assemblies are taken out of the NUnit test environment and deployed as they would be for an actual application build, my call for an NHibernate session results in a ‘TypeInitializationException’ whilst executing the code line: sessionFactory = New Configuration().Configure().BuildSessionFactory() The application is a vb.net console app running against an Oracle 9.2 database, using a ‘coding framework’ published on the web by Bill McCafferty entitled 'NHibernate Best Practices with ASP.NET' (pre S#harp Architecture).     I'm a desktop application developer, and I plan learning html5, but as it's not released, there are (almost) no published books and not too much infomation for beginners on the web... I feel I should start with html4 and the current web development skills. I think I should start with html4, css, and javascript... but there are so many technologies related that I get lost :D So, what current technologies will be still used when html5 is released? I mean, what about "jquery" and "ajax"? I know they are javascript under the hood, but will they still make sense in the future? What would you recommend me considering that I have just a little bit of html knowlegde, almost null CSS and completely null in javascript?

    I have a CruiseControl.Net project set up to build an ASP.Net project, using an <svn task to pull the latest code from source control. On a successful build, I use a <buildpublisher to copy the site to a deployment folder. My problem is that the buildpublisher is copying everything to the destination folder, including every .svn folder and its contents. What is the easiest way to strip out the .svn folders before copying to the deployment folder?

I probbly missed some steps but I cann't find them eventhough I read many tutorials, probbly since I am new in AJAX, so I need to be guided step-by-step. Adding These Controls to the ToolBox. creating new ASP.NET Website (I heard about AJAX-Enabled Option, but I dont have this option) Adding a AJAX Tool. And thats it.     I have a Menu and Submenu structure in Silverlight, and I want the submenu to disappear when the parent menu item loses focus - standard Menu behavior. I've noticed that the submenu's click events are lost when a submenu item is clicked, because the parent menu item loses focus and the submenu disappears. It's easier to explain with code: ParentMenuBtn.Click += delegate { SubMenu.Visibility = (SubMenu.Visibility == Visibility.Visible) ? SubMenu.Collapsed : SubMenu.Visible; }; ParentMenuBtn.LostFocus += delegate { SubMenu.Visibility = Visibility.Collapsed; }; SubMenuBtn.Click += delegate { throw new Exception("This will never be thrown."); }; In my example, when SubMenuBtn is clicked, the first event that triggers is ParentMenuBtn.LostFocus(), which hides the container of SubMenuBtn. Once the container's visibility collapses, the Click event is never triggered. I'd rather avoid having to hide the sub-menu each time, but I'm a little surprised that the Click event is never triggered as a result... I can't put any checks inside the LostFocus() event to see if my SubMenuBtn has focus, because it does not gain focus until after the LostFocus() event is called. In other words, SubMenuBtn.IsFocused = false when LostFocus() is triggered. Anyone have any thoughts about this?

I have a view with a tableView, and when I tap a cell I want to present a popOver window pointing the arrow to the cell I tapped. the things that I think I need is: 1- the position of the cell in the screen (not in the view, because on large tables the Y value of the cell's rect could be grater than screen hight) or 2- a CGPoint or something similar that represents the point in the screen I tapped.   • Getting filtered results with subquery

    I have a table with something like the following: ID Name Color 1 Bob Blue 2 John Yellow 1 Bob Green 3 Sara Red 3 Sara Green What I would like to do is return a filtered list of results whereby the following data is returned: ID Name Color 1 Bob Blue 2 John Yellow 3 Sara Red i.e. I would like to return 1 row per user. (I do not mind which row is returned for the particular user - I just need that the [ID] is unique.) I have something already that works but is really slow where I create a temp table adding all the ID's and then using a "OUTER APPLY" selecting the top 1 from the same table, i.e. CREATE TABLE #tb ( [ID] [int] ) INSERT INTO #tb select distinct [ID] from MyTable select T1.[ID], T2.[Name], T2.Color from #tb T1 OUTER APPLY ( SELECT TOP 1 * FROM MyTable T2 WHERE T2.[ID] = T1.[ID] ) AS V2 DROP TABLE #tb Can somebody suggest how I may improve it?     When looking to get data from a web page whats the recommended method if the page does not provide a structured data feed? Am I right in thinking that its just a case of doing an NSURLRequest and then hacking what you need out of the responseData(NSData*)? I am not too concerned about the implementation in Xcode, I am more curious about actually collecting the data, before I start coding a "hunt & peck" through a list of data. gary

  • very quickly getting total size of folder

    I want to quickly find the total size of any folder using python. def GetFolderSize(path): TotalSize = 0 for item in os.walk(path): for file in item[2]: try: TotalSize = TotalSize + getsize(join(item[0], file)) except: print("error with file: " + join(item[0], file)) return TotalSize That's the simple script I wrote to get the total size of the folder, it took around 60 seconds (+-5 seconds). By using multiprocessing I got it down to 23 seconds on a quad core machine. Using the Windows file explorer it takes only ~3 seconds (Right click- properties to see for yourself). So is there a faster way of finding the total size of a folder close to the speed that windows can do it? Windows 7, python 2.6 (Did searches but most of the time people used a very similar method to my own) Thanks in advance.
