    I have a situation for which I am looking for a more elegant solution. Consider the below cases "BKP","bkp","book-to-price" (will represent) BOOK-TO-PRICE "aop","aspect oriented program" (will represent) ASPECT-ORIENTED-PROGRAM i.e. if the user enter BKP or bkp or book-to-price , the program should treat that as BOOK-TO-PRICE. The same holds good for the second example(ASPECT-ORIENTED-PROGRAM). I have the below solution: Solution: if (str == "BKP" || str == "bkp" || str == "book-to-price" ) return "BOOK-TO-PRICE". But I think that there can be many other better solutions . Could you people please give some suggestion.(with an example will be better) I am using C#3.0 and dotnet framework 3.5

    I'm wanting to be able to create a banner of floating images based on what are uploaded via users. The tool needs to have images of 50x50 and 100x100. At the moment, I just want to randomly display the images and tried to apply float:left. However, as you can see below - it leaves gaps. Is there an easy way to do this without programatically positioning the images?     I have made a scorecard with 5 holes, for each a input field (shots), and a image is shown. The input should be saved into a vector and shown on each hole, eg. hole 2: enter shots, underneath it "total shots: 4" (if you have made 4 shots on hole 1).   • Finding multiple values in a string Jquery / Javascript

    I have a three strings of categories "SharePoint,Azure,IT"; "BizTalk,Finance"; "SharePoint,Finance"; I need to find a way to check if a string contains for example "SharePoint" and "IT", or "BizTalk" and "Finance". The tests are individual strings themselces. How would i loop through all the category strings (1 - 3) and only return the ones which have ALL instances of the souce. i have tried the following function doesExist(source, filterArray) { var substr = filterArray.split(" "); jQuery.each(substr, function() { var filterTest = this; if(source.indexOf(filterTest) != -1 ) { alert("true"); return true; }else { alert("false"); return false; } }); } with little success...the code above checks one at a time rather than both so the results returned are incorrect.     Hi all, I'm quite new to drawing shapes, graphics, bitmaps etc. I googled for a few days,but still havent got a real clue what to do, so please help me: I want to draw a floorplan with certain objects(represented as circles) moving on it. When I click on a object, it needs to show something. So far, I ve been able to draw some circles on a graphic and been able to move the dots by clearing the graphic every time. Ofcourse, this isnt a real solution, since I cant keep track of the different objects on the floorplan (which i need for my clickevent and movings). I hope I explained my problem ok here.     Hello, On a Windows box, I need to extract a RAR archive so that individual files in it go into specific directories. I can provide, say, a text file that lists each file and the target directory for it. Then I need help creating a batch file that will actually extract these files into their target locations.   • oracle select query - index on multiple columns

    Hello. I'm working on a sql query, and trying to optimise it, because it takes too long to execute. I have a few select and UNION between. Every select is on the same table but with different condition in WHERE clause. Basically I have allways something like : select * from A where field1 <"toto" and field2 IN (...) UNION select * from A where field1 >"toto2" and field2 =(...) UNION .... I have a index on field1 (it a date field, and field2 is a number). Now, when I do the select and if I put only WHERE field1 <'12/12/2010' it does not use the index. I'm using Toad to see the explain plain and it said: SELECT STAITEMENT Optimiser Mode = CHOOSE TABLE ACCESS FULL It is a huge table, and the index on this column is there. Any idea about this optimiser ? And why it does not uses the index ? Another question is , if I have where clause on field1 and field2 , I have to create only one index, or one index for each field ? I cant work perfectly with these events: mouseEntered : to make highlight effect to the jlabel mouseExited : to take off the highlight effect. mouseClicked : to change the content of the main Panel and start some threads The problem here that can't found an event or a method tell me that another Jlabel has been clicked so i can stop my threads started in the mouseClicked event, OR an event or method tell me that a JPanel in the CardLayout has been displayed or hidden.

  • (SQL) Selecting from a database based on multiple pairs of pairs

    The problem i've encountered is attempting to select rows from a database where 2 columns in that row align to specific pairs of data. IE selecting rows from data where id = 1 AND type = 'news'. Obviously, if it was 1 simple pair it would be easy, but the issue is we are selecting rows based on 100s of pair of data. I feel as if there must be some way to do this query without looping through the pairs and querying each individually. I'm hoping some SQL stackers can provide guidance. Here's a full code break down: Lets imagine that I have the following dataset where history_id is the primary key. I simplified the structure a bit regarding the dates for ease of reading. table: history history_id id type user_id date 1 1 news 1 5/1 2 1 news 1 5/1 3 1 photo 1 5/2 4 3 news 1 5/3 5 4 news 1 5/3 6 1 news 1 5/4 7 2 photo 1 5/4 8 2 photo 1 5/5 If the user wants to select rows from the database based on a date range we would take a subset of that data. SELECT history_id, id, type, user_id, date FROM history WHERE date BETWEEN '5/3' AND '5/5' Which returns the following dataset history_id id type user_id date 4 3 news 1 5/3 5 4 news 1 5/3 6 1 news 1 5/4 7 2 photo 1 5/4 8 2 photo 1 5/5 Now, using that subset of data I need to determine how many of those entries represent the first entry in the database for each type,id pairing. IE is row 4 the first time in the database that id: 3, type: news appears. So I use a with() min() query. In real code the two lists are programmatically generated from the result sets of our previous query, here I spelled them out for ease of reading. WITH previous AS ( SELECT history_id, id, type FROM history WHERE id IN (1,2,3,4) AND type IN ('news','photo') ) SELECT min(history_id) as history_id, id, type FROM previous GROUP BY id, type Which returns the following data set. history_id id type user_id date 1 1 news 1 5/1 2 1 news 1 5/1 3 1 photo 1 5/2 4 3 news 1 5/3 5 4 news 1 5/3 6 1 news 1 5/4 7 2 photo 1 5/4 8 2 photo 1 5/5 You'll notice it's the entire original dataset, because we are matching id and type individually in lists, rather than as a collective pairs. The result I desire is, but I can't figure out the SQL to get this result. history_id id type user_id date 1 1 news 1 5/1 4 3 news 1 5/3 5 4 news 1 5/3 7 2 photo 1 5/4 Obviously, I could go the route of looping through each pair and querying the database to determine it's first result, but that seems an inefficient solution. I figured one of the SQL gurus on this site might be able to spread some wisdom. In case I'm approaching this situation incorrectly, the gist of the whole routine is that the database stores all creations and edits in the same table. I need to track each users behavior and determine how many entries in the history table are edits or creations over a specific date range. Therefore I select all type:id pairs from the date range based on a user_id, and then for each pairing I determine if the user is responsible for the first that occurs in the database. If first, then creation else edit. Any assistance would be awesome.

    I have a form in which there are total eight fields, name, address, age and 5 other file/photo upload fields such that at a time one upload field is visible.. Now here every time I upload a file i need to fill the "name, address and age" as well. at this point I dont want to submit the form, but I just want to save these values in any variable and get back to same form with information of previous file ready to be submitted, now again user can upload new file with new values in... and so on... as user is done with the 5 files he should not be allowed to upload more but he should be allowed to submit all the 5 files to DB along with there supporting fields.. How should I proceed further ...?

  • Item in multiple lists

    So I have some legacy code which I would love to use more modern techniques. But I fear that given the way that things are designed, it is a non-option. The core issue is that often a node is in more than one list at a time. Something like this: struct T { T *next_1; T *prev_1; T *next_2; T *prev_2; int value; }; this allows the core have a single object of type T be allocated and inserted into 2 doubly linked lists, nice and efficient. Obviously I could just have 2 std::list<T*>'s and just insert the object into both...but there is one thing which would be way less efficient...removal. Often the code needs to "destroy" an object of type T and this includes removing the element from all lists. This is nice because given a T* the code can remove that object from all lists it exists in. With something like a std::list I would need to search for the object to get an iterator, then remove that (I can't just pass around an iterator because it is in several lists). Is there a nice c++-ish solution to this, or is the manually rolled way the best way? I have a feeling the manually rolled way is the answer, but I figured I'd ask.

    I am trying to count across 2 tables and I dont see whats wrong with my query yet I get a wrong result. User 2 does not exist in table_two, so the zero is correct. SELECT t1.creator_user_id, COUNT(t1.creator_user_id), COUNT(t2.user_id) FROM table_one AS t1 LEFT JOIN table_two AS t2 ON t2.user_id = t1.creator_user_id GROUP BY t1.creator_user_id, t2.user_id Actual result 1 192 192 2 9 0 Expected result 1 16 12 2 9 0 The result indicate a missing group by condition, but I already got both fields used. Where am I wrong ? Also, can I sum up all users that doesnt exist in table_two for t1 ? Like user 3 exists 21 times in t1, then the results would be: 1 16 12 (users with > 0 in t2 will need their own row) 2 30 0 (user 2=9 + user 3=21 => 30) Its okay for the user Id to be wrong for sum of t1 for all users with 0 in t2. If not possible, then I'll just do two queries.
