• performing auditing in java with sql server DB - before and/or after do not get audited

  When auditing, sometimes the before value does not get audited, other times the after value does not get audited, other times both values do not get audited at all. After researching, I found out that only values from a specific codes table get audited. the code was: compareCodesTableInteger(audit, int, int, objectBefore, objectAfter, stringDescription, stringCodesTable); I then changed it to: compareCodesTableInteger(audit, int, int, objectBefore, objectAfter, stringDescription, booleanCheck ? stringCodesTableIfTrue : stringCodesTableIfFalse); Description: if objectBefore AND objectAfter are both from stringCodesTableIfTrue OR from stringCodesTableIfFalse, auditing takes place as expected. The problem is: most of the times, objectBefore is from stringCodesTableIfTrue, and objectAfter is from stringCodesTableIfFalse, or vice-versa. In this scenario auditing fails. How do I go around this? Please assist

  I have a keyup event on an input. This event works fine for auto complete when you select a value and press enter. But it doesn't work when you click at an auto complete value. Is there an event that i can use in such case? I already tried the change one but it doesn't work. Thanks! Edit: Maybe i was not clear but i am referring to the autocomplete feature that browsers have. I am not trying to build my own. Example: I have the following event: $('.product').keyup(searchByProduct); When user clicks at this input the old values that he already typed shows up ( it's the browser that does this ). If he clicks on one of the values, the function searchByProduct is not called. Which event do i have to register to track this click ( and that the input content has changed )?

  I'd like to get some community consensus on a good design to be able to store and query word frequency counts. I'm building an application in which I have to parse text inputs and store how many times a word has appeared (over time). So given the following inputs: "To Kill a Mocking Bird" "Mocking a piano player" Would store the following values: Word Count ------------- To 1 Kill 1 A 2 Mocking 2 Bird 1 Piano 1 Player 1 And later be able to quickly query for the count value of a given arbitrary word. My current plan is to simply store the words and counts in a database, and rely on caching word count values ... But I suspect that I won't get enough cache hits to make this a viable solution long term. Can anyone suggest algorithms, or data structures, or any other idea that might make this a well-performing solution?

  I have a form in which there are total eight fields, name, address, age and 5 other file/photo upload fields such that at a time one upload field is visible.. Now here every time I upload a file i need to fill the "name, address and age" as well. at this point I dont want to submit the form, but I just want to save these values in any variable and get back to same form with information of previous file ready to be submitted, now again user can upload new file with new values in... and so on... as user is done with the 5 files he should not be allowed to upload more but he should be allowed to submit all the 5 files to DB along with there supporting fields.. How should I proceed further ...?

  I need to create a MySQL query that generates 4 rows for each row in the table it references. I need some of the information in those rows to repeat and some to be different. In the table each row stands for one day. I need to break the day up in 6 hour increments, hence the four rows for each entry. I need to create one column which for each day will have '12AM', '6AM', '12PM', and '6PM' values and another column will have the corresponding numeric values calculated for those entries. Thanks a lot in advance and I will really appreciate any help on this.

  Hi, I am working on a peice of software which has expodentially grown over the last few years and the database needs to be regularly updated. Customers are providing us with data now on large spreadsheets which we format and will start importing into the database. I am using the Import and Export Data (32-bit) Wizard. One column in the database contains values like '1.1.1.2' etc and i am importing them in as a Varchar as that is the data type in the database. However, for values like '8.5', 'NULL' is getting imported insead. It only occurs when there is one decimal point. Is this a formatting error with excel or is it the wrong datatype?

  Hi all, This is a really really super dumb question, so I apologise, but I'd be grateful for some advice. I've got a text file of words and word frequencies. It's very large - theoretically we're talking millions of rows. I just want to retrieve values from the file, and do it as quickly and efficiently as possible (for a web app, in Django). My question is: what is the best way to store and retrieve the values? Should import them into SQL? Or keep the file and use grep? Or put them into a JSON dictionary...? Or some other way? Sorry for the dumb question, would be very grateful for advice!

  I have a column in my DB that is set with Identity(1,1) and I can't get hibernate annotations to work for it. I get errors when I try to create a new record. In my entity I have the following. @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.IDENTITY, generator="native") @Column(name="SeqNo", unique=true, nullable=false) BigDecimal seqNo; But when I try to add a new record I get the following error. Cannot insert explicit value for identity column in table 'MemberSelectedOptions' when IDENTITY_INSERT is set to OFF. I don't want to set IDENTIY_INSERT to ON because I want the identity column in the db to manage the values.   I've got the following reduced testcase: typedef struct TestStruct { int length; int values[]; }; TestStruct t = {3, {0, 1, 2}}; This works with Visual C++, but doesn't compile with g++ under linux. Can anyone help me make this specific kind of initializer portable?   I am creating a users table using JDBC and mysql, each user has a permissions list that comprises Integer values, I am wondering if I should use an array for storing these values and then have only 1 record for this user in the table, or simply create a new table that comprises 2 columns: user ID and permissions, and then have multiple records for each user that specify the user name in one columns and one permission value in the second column, the second option seems to be redundant since a permission value is a simple object that isn't associated with any other objects (like a student and courses list for example, because the course is associated with many other objects, like grade, teacher, etc, so in this case it is natural to have multiple records), but the first one seems to be a bit unnatural to me, so if someone has experience with these things and direct me? thanks

• Using strtotime for dates before 1970

  I have a text column in mysql and it stores a date value in the format yyyy-mm-dd. Now, in my php page, I use this code to parse into a date value. date("F j, Y", strtotime($row['value'])); Now, I just read that strtotime() parses values only after January 1, 1970. I have lot of date values before that date. Is there a work around? I don't want to change my database structure.
