  • How to write a contains statement to match a member of a class?

    - by afuzzyllama
If I have the following structure: Public Class UserData Public ID As String Public Name As String End Class How can I select it in a conditional like this? Dim myUsers As New List(Of UserData) If myUsers.Contains(.ID = "1") = True Then ... I know that myUsers.Contains(.ID = "1") is totally wrong, but I am curious how to do something like that? Is it possible? Is this a job for LINQ?

  • Spring Security User

    - by DD
    What is best practise in Spring when creating a new user with custom attributes...to extend org.springframework.security.core.userdetails.User or to create the User in the UserDetailsService (this is the approach taken in the IceFaces tutorial). public UserDetails loadUserByUsername(String username) throws UsernameNotFoundException, DataAccessException { AppUser user = userDAO.findUser(username); if (user == null) throw new UsernameNotFoundException("User not found: " + username); else { return makeUser(user); } } private User makeUser(AppUser user) { return new User(user.getLogin(), user .getPassword(), true, true, true, true, makeGrantedAuthorities(user)); }

  • How can I emulate the ASP.NET Ajax UpdatePanel when using ASP.NET MVC?

    - by Gary McGill
In "traditional" ASP.NET (Web Forms), the UpdatePanel control lets you do a partial refresh of a part of a page. You don't need to write much code to hook this up. What's the equivalent in ASP.NET MVC? I'm guessing I'd need to use a partial view for the bit that I want to update, then on the client side retrieve that HTML and pump it into the innerHtml of the correct DIV? A tutorial/example would be helpful...

  • Just a small problem regarding javscript BOM question

    - by caramel1991
The question is this: Create a page with a number of links. Then write code that fires on the window onload event, displaying the href of each of the links on the page. And this is my solution <html> <body language="Javascript" onload="displayLink()"> <a href="http://www.google.com/">First link</a> <a href="http://www.yahoo.com/">Second link</a> <a href="http://www.msn.com/">Third link</a> <script type="text/javascript" language="Javascript"> function displayLink() { for(var i = 0;document.links[i];i++) { alert(document.links[i].href); } } </script> </body> </html> This is the answer provided by the book <html> <head> <script language=”JavaScript” type=”text/javascript”> function displayLinks() { var linksCounter; for (linksCounter = 0; linksCounter < document.links.length; linksCounter++) { alert(document.links[linksCounter].href); } } </script> </head> <body onload=”displayLinks()”> <A href=”link0.htm” >Link 0</A> <A href=”link1.htm”>Link 2</A> <A href=”link2.htm”>Link 2</A> </body> </html> Before I get into the javascript tutorial on how to check user browser version or model,I was using the same method as the example,by acessing the length property of the links array for the loop, but after I read through the tutorial,I find out that I can also use this alternative ways,by using the method that the test condition will evalute to true only if the document.links[i] return a valid value,so does my code is written using the valid method??If it's not,any comment regarding how to write a better code??Correct me if I'm wrong,I heard some of the people say "a good code is not evaluate solely on whether it works or not,but in terms of speed, the ability to comprehend the code, and could posssibly let others to understand the code easily".Is is true??

  • Rolling (slot machine style) nav bar in Flash or SwishMax

    - by decbrad
Just wondering if anyone has an ideas on how this rolling (slot machine style) navigation bar was created. Maybe there's a Flash / SwishMax tutorial online somewhere? This effect is very hard to replicate because it animates very quickly onscreen, so any assistance to get me started would be great Here's a sample of what I am trying to achieve: http://osc4.template-help.com/wt_28854/menu.swf?button=1 Thanks in advance, Decbrad

  • Avoiding SQL Injection in SQL query with Like Operator using parameters?

    - by MikeJ
Taking over some code from my predecessor and I found a query that uses the Like operator: SELECT * FROM suppliers WHERE supplier_name like '%'+name+%'; Trying to avoid SQL Injection problem and parameterize this but I am not quite sure how this would be accomplished. Any suggestions ? note, I need a solution for classic ADO.NET - I don't really have the go-ahead to switch this code over to something like LINQ.

  • In flex how do I pass data retrieved from a remote object service to a modules interface?

    - by Dan G
I found at this Adobe tutorial a nice "RemoteService" class that creates a RemoteObject and contains the functions for handling the result and fault events. If I wanted to use this approach, how could I pass the data from the result handler to interfaces that modules from the main application could use? I could put the RemoteService/RemoteObject in the modules, but (in my opinion- and I could be wrong) the best design seems to be using the remote calls in the main app and passing the data along to the modules.

  • How to write backwards compatible HTML5 ?

    - by Olivier Lalonde
I'd like to start using HTML5's basic features, but at the same time, keep my code backwards compatible with older browsers (graceful degradation). For instance, I'd like to use the cool CSS3 properties for making rounded corners. Is there any available tutorial for writing gracefully degradable HTML5 ? Additionally, what browsers should I support so that my app. is functional for at least 95% of visitors? What are the ways to test those browsers painlessly ?

  • Is there an easy method to combine two relative paths in C# ?

    - by Ioannis
I want to combine two relative paths in C#. For example: string path1 = "/System/Configuration/Panels/Alpha"; string path2 = "Panels/Alpha/Data"; I want to return string result = "/System/Configuration/Panels/Alpha/Data"; I can implement this by splitting the second array and compare it in a for loop but I was wondering if there is something similar to Path.Combine available or if this can be accomplished with regular expressions or Linq? Thanks
