  • NewBie Question, jQuery: How can we implement if...else logic and call function

    - by Rachel
    I am new to jQuery and so don't mind this question if it sounds stupid but here is something that I am trying to do : I have 3 functions like: AddToCart Function which adds item to the shopping cart: //offer_id is the offer which we are trying to add to cart. addToCart: function(offer_id) { this.submit({action: 'add', 'offer_id': offer_id}, {'app_server_url': this.app_server_url}); }, RemoveFromCart which removes data from the cart //target is link clicked and event is the click event. removeFromCart: function(target, event) { this.uniqueElmt('cart_table').find('.sb_item_remove').unbind('click'); var offer_id = $(target).parent().find('.offer_id').html(); this.submit({action: 'remove', 'offer_id': offer_id, 'next_action': this.config.current_action}, {'app_server_url': this.app_server_url}); }, Get the current state of the cart //return string which represents current state of cart. getCartItems: function() { return this.contents; } Now I am trying to do 3 things: if there is no content in cart and addToCart is called than some action, so basically here we need to check the current state of cart and that is obtained by calling getCartItems and if it is Null and than if addToCart is called than we perform some action if there is content in the cart and addToCart is called than some action,so basically here we need to check the current state of cart and that is obtained by calling getCartItems and check if it is Null or not and than if addToCart is called than we perform some action if we had some content in the cart. if there is content in the cart and removeFromCart is called some action, so basically here we need to check the current state of cart and that is obtained by calling getCartItems and if it is not Null and if removeFromCart is called than we perform some action Pseudocode of what I am trying to do: if there is no content in cart and addToCart is called than $(document).track( { 'module' : 'Omniture', 'event' : 'instant', 'args' : { 'linkTrackVars' : 'products,events', 'linkTrackEvents' : 'scAdd,scOpen', 'linkType' : 'o', 'linkName' : 'Cart : First Product Added' // could be blank, but can include event name as added feature 'svalues' : { 'products' : ';OFFERID1[,;OFFERID2]', 'events' : 'scAdd,scOpen', }, } 'defer' : '0' } ); if there is content in the cart and addToCart is called than $(document).track( { 'module' : 'Omniture', 'event' : 'instant', 'args' : { 'linkTrackVars' : 'products,events', 'linkTrackEvents' : 'scAdd', 'linkType' : 'o', 'linkName' : 'Cart : Product Added' // could be blank, but can include event name as added feature 'svalues' : { 'products' : ';OFFERID1[,;OFFERID2]', 'events' : 'scAdd', }, }, 'defer' : '0' } ); if there is content in the cart and removeFromCart is called $(document).track( { 'module' : 'Omniture', 'event' : 'instant', 'args' : { 'linkTrackVars' : 'products,events', 'linkTrackEvents' : 'scRemove', 'linkType' : 'o', 'linkName' : 'Cart : Product Removed' // could be blank, but can include event name as added feature 'svalues' : { 'products' : ';OFFERID1[,;OFFERID2]', 'events' : 'scRemove', }, } 'defer' : '0' } ); My basic concern is that am complete newbie to jQuery and JavaScript and so am not sure how can I implement if...else logic and how can I call a funtion using jQuery/JavaScript.

  • JavaScript onload/onreadystatechange not firing when dynamically adding a script tag to the page.

    - by spoon16
    I am developing a bookmarklet that requires a specific version of jQuery be loaded on the page. When I have to dynamically insert a jQuery script tag to meet the requirments of the bookmarklet I want to wait for the onload or onreadystatechange event on the script tag before executing any function that requires jQuery. For some reason the onload and/or onreadystatechange events do not fire. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong here? var tag = document.createElement("script"); tag.type = "text/javascript"; tag.src = "http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-" + version + ".min.js"; tag.onload = tag.onreadystatechange = function () { __log("info", "test"); __log("info", this.readyState); }; document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(tag); The FULL code: http://gist.github.com/405215

  • Which Edition of SQL Server 2008 R2 should you use?

    - by BuckWoody
    SQL Server 2008 R2 has just released to manufacturing (RTM’d) as I write this. With each new release, we make changes to the “Editions” we offer. A SQL Server “version” deals with the major changes in the product – and “edition” is a set of features and capabilities within that version (you’re welcome). So… definitely run over to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645993(v=SQL.105).aspx and check out the changes. For instance, did you know that SQL Server Express now supports 10GB databases? Well, then get over there and read what each edition does. Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it!

  • How to detect when a tab is focused or not in Chrome with Javascript?

    - by LLer
    I need to know if the user is currently viewing the current tab or not in Google Chrome. I tried to use the events blur and focus binded to the window, but only the blur seems to be working. window.addEventListener('focus', function() { document.title = 'focused'; }); window.addEventListener('blur', function() { document.title = 'not focused'; }); The focus event works weird, only sometimes. If I switch to another tab and back, focus event won't activate. But if I click on the address bar and then back on the page, it will. Or if I switch to another program and then back to Chrome it will activate if the tab is currently focused.

  • jQuery: How do I stop the page being displayed until it's been processed?

    - by Alistair Christie
    I'm using jQuery to modify the style of some pages in a large set of existing Web pages. This works, but the problem I have is that, for longer pages, the page is briefly visible with the wrong styles before the javascript kicks in and transforms the page. I'm using this kind of thing (the alerts are just to emphasize the problem): $(document).ready(function(){ ... alert("at this point the page is visible unstyled"); $('body').addClass('myStyle'); alert("now page looks like I want it to"); ... } How do I prevent the browser from displaying the page until $(document).ready(function() completes?

  • poblems with jquery code

    - by Michael
    Another jquery issue... I have tried this several times using "class" and "id" elements and I can not get it right. I am hoping the brains on stackoverflow can help! The problem that I am having is when I open the page all elments are closed. When I click on one link all links open. I believe it closes correctly the problem is that when I open the first link all items open. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Bid Items</title> <link href="bid.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script src="jquerry/js/jquery.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('#showhideconent').hide(); $('a').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent').show('slow'); }); $('a#close').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent').hide('slow'); }) }); $(document).ready(function(){ $('#showhideconent2').hide(); $('a').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent2').show('slow'); }); $('a#close2').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent2').hide('slow'); }) }); $(document).ready(function(){ $('#showhideconent3').hide(); $('a').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent3').show('slow'); }); $('a#close3').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent3').hide('slow'); }) }); $(document).ready(function(){ $('#showhideconent4').hide(); $('a').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent4').show('slow'); }); $('a#close4').click(function(){ $('#showhideconent4').hide('slow'); }) }); </script> </head> <body class="oneColElsCtr" onload="MM_preloadImages('Assignment4b.jpg')"> <div id="container"> <div id="mainContent"> <h1>Bid Page</h1> <h1>Coke Memorbila</h1> <a href="#" id="click">Amber Bottle 1914</a> <div id="box" align="center"> <div id="showhideconent"> <p><a href="coke/Amber1914.shtml"><img src="amber1914.jpg" width="200" height="200" alt="Amber Coke" /></a></p> <p><a href="#" id="close">Close</a> </p> </div> </div> <a href="#" id="click">Amber Bottle 1915</a> <div id="box" align="center"> <div id="showhideconent2"> <p><a href="coke/Amber1915.shtml"><img src="coke/Amber1914.shtml" width="200" height="200" alt="Amber Bottle 1915" /></a></p> <p><a href="#" id="close2">Close</a> </p> </div> </div> <a href="#" id="click">Green 1929</a> <div id="box" align="center"> <div id="showhideconent3"> <p><a href="coke/green1929.shtml"><img src="green1929.jpg" width="200" height="200" alt="Green 1929" /></a></p> <p><a href="#" id="close3">Close</a> </p> </div> </div> <a href="#" id="click">1970s Cans</a> <div id="box" align="center"> <div id="showhideconent4"> <p><a href="coke/tincans.shtml"><img src="coke_tincan.jpg" width="200" height="200" alt="Tin Cans" /></a></p> <p><a href="#" id="close4">Close</a> </p> </div> </div> </body> </html>

  • Why does IE prompt a security warning when viewing an XML file?

    - by Tav
    Opening an XML file in Internet explorer gives a security warning. IE has a nice collapsible tree view for viewing XML, but it's disabled by default and you get this scary error message about a potential security hole. http://www.leonmeijer.nl/archive/2008/04/27/106.aspx But why? How can simply viewing an XML file (not running any embedded macros in it or anything) possibly be a security hole? Sure, I get that running XSLT could potentially do some bad stuff, but we're not talking about executing anything. We're talking about viewing. Why can't IE simply display the XML file as text (plus with the collapsible tree viewer)? So why did they label this as a security hole? Can someone describe how simply viewing an XML document could be used as an attack document?

  • Print Several Outlook MailItems

    - by David Souther
    I have a pst that has a bunch of emails I want to print using the Microsoft Document Image Writer so that I have a folder, //lawyers/ediscovery/emails/ that has 00001.tiff 00002.tiff etc. In Word or Excel, I can pass the Workbook or Document a filepath to the PrintOut method, but the Outlook MailItem interop's PrintOut doesn't take any arguments, instead only uses the default printer's attributies. I don't have time to type the Bates number for every email (thousands to tens of thousands). Any help on how to tell Outlook where to print to?

  • javascript: capturing load event on LINK

    - by pgn
    hello everyone, i'm trying to attach an event handler to the load event of a link tag, to execute some code after a stylesheet has loaded. new_element = document.createElement('link'); new_element.type = 'text/css'; new_element.rel = 'stylesheet'; new_element.href = 'http://domain.tld/file.css'; new_element.addEventListener('load', function() { alert('foo'); }, false); document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(new_element) i have tried onreadystatechange as well new_element.onreadystatechange = function() { alert('foo'); } unfortunately neither approach results in an alert being triggered.. Furthermore, new_element.onload is null after registering a handler for the 'load' event with addEventListener.. is that normal? thanks, andrew ps: i may not use any framework in solving this

  • Why does having a transitional doctype, cause my javascript to fail in WebKit and Opera Browsers

    - by morgenmuffel
    Hi all I am trying to get a mouseover script to work, when there is no doctype set the script works fine in all browsers I test, but the site looks like a dogs breakfast However When i set the doctype to transitional (it has to be this doctype) Firefox and IE8 (&compat mode) work fine But Opera and the webkit browsers can only display the popup above the page fold, so if you scroll down the page and go over an image the popup appears above the visible page. And I can't figure out why, there are a couple of instances of document.all in the code, but my attempts to replace these have broken the code, besides the fact it works in Firefox and not Opera makes me think that document.all is not the issue Any help would be appreciated, even just telling me why a doctype would effect Javascript would be a help. Here is the site without a doctype As I can't post 2 links, being a new user and all, follow the link above and change and change the url from noodle3 to noodle to see the site with a doctype

  • https://www.googleapis.com/drive/v2/files/<fileid>/comments?alt=json returned "Not Found" on a file that can't be opened

    - by Kartik Ayyar
    More details as below: https://www.googleapis.com/drive/v2/files/1iNMGIAFXuhS_CO_hnEO0_EJ9PAgT-hXYqWYv0MPGUTI/comments?alt=json returned "Not Found The file is present in drive and shows in drive.changes.list, but can't be opened in Google Drive either. There are two problems here a) the file is somehow corrupt ( it was a document imported into drive, so that failed, but that isn't something I care about for the purposes of this question ) b) The file shows up as existing in some API calls, but calls to read comments with the Drive SDK comments API fail. Here are results from an API call showing how the file does indeed exist: "file": { "kind": "drive#file", "id": "1iNMGIAFXuhS_CO_hnEO0_EJ9PAgT-hXYqWYv0MPGUTI", "etag": "\"o35FABD0TC3H-Up3OL3UA9kEB2w/MTM3MTc2NzU5NzEyNA\"", .... .... • Search Lucene with precise edit distances

    - by askullhead
    I would like to search a Lucene index with edit distances. For example, say, there is a document with a field FIRST_NAME; I want all documents with first names that are 1 edit distance away from, say, 'john'. I know that Lucene supports fuzzy searches (FIRST_NAME:john~) and takes a number between 0 and 1 to control the fuzziness. The problem (for me) is this number does not directly translate to an edit distance. And when the values in the documents are short strings (less than 3 characters) the fuzzy search has difficulty finding them. For example if there is a document with FIRST_NAME 'J' and I search for FIRST_NAME:I~0.0 I don't get anything back.

  • strategies for learning complex software packages

    - by Tom
    I am a fairly novice Java programmer and I am currently working on a project to extend a piece of software that has been developed over a few years. So it has pretty big code base and the previous developers knew it well, so extending it is not going to be easy without a thorough understanding of the structure and function. 1) I had begun by trying to tackle small parts of the system and document them with mindmap. (particularly I am trying to document the interactions with external systems) 2) I have the book "code complete", which I am working through. 3) I have pointed some tools like "tattletale" at the code to get some diagrams of dependency relationships. What other strategies should I employ, should I focus on one particular aspect?

  • This regx does not work only in Chrome

    - by Deeptechtons
    Hi i just put up a validation function in jScript to validate filename in fileupload control[input type file]. The function seems to work fine in FF and sometimes in ie but never in Chrome. Basically the function tests if File name is atleast 1 char upto 25 characters long.Contains only valid characters,numbers [no spaces] and are of file types in the list. Could you throw some light on this function validate(Uploadelem) { var objRgx = new RegExp(/^[\w]{1,25}\.*\.(jpg|gif|png|jpeg|doc|docx|pdf|txt|rtf)$/); objRgx.ignoreCase = true; if (objRgx.test(Uploadelem.value)) { document.getElementById('moreUploadsLink').style.display = 'block'; } else { document.getElementById('moreUploadsLink').style.display = 'none'; } }

  • Javascript (JQuery) keyboard hijack problem

    - by user266564
    I'm making a typing tutor program using javascript. Everything is going well except that if activates browser hotkeys which disrupts the functionality of the program. When I press the single quote in Firefox it triggers "Quick find (links only)" short cut and in all browsers when I press space the page scrolls down a page. Everything is working fine outside of this. Here's the code in the head: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { executeType(); }); </script> And the code I am using to capture the keyboard (simplified, but tested): function executeType() { $(document).keydown(function(event) { alert(event.keyCode); }); }

  • How to read custom file properties in c#

    - by Randy Gamage
    I'm looking for a way to read document properties in C#. I've heard about dsofile.dll, but it seems like an old COM wrapper, and was wondering if there is something more modern for the .NET framework/C#. What I'm actually reading is not an office document file, but a Solidworks .SLDDRW file, that has Custom properties. You can view and change these in Windows Explorer by right-clicking on the file, and going to the Properties window, Custom tab. Anyone know how to read these custom properties in C# / .NET 3.5? Thanks!

  • Adding an equation or formula to a figure caption in LaTeX

    - by gotgenes
    I have a figure in LaTeX with a caption to which I need to add a formula (equation* or displaymath environments). For example: \documentclass[12pt]{article} \begin{document} \begin{figure}[tbph] \begin{center} %... \end{center} \caption{As you can see \begin{displaymath}4 \ne 5\end{displaymath} } \label{fig:somefig} \end{figure} \end{document} This makes pdflatex angry, though it will produce a PDF. ! Argument of \@caption has an extra }. <inserted text> \par l.9 } What's the right way to go about adding an equation to a figure caption? NOTE: Please do not suggest simply using the $ ... $ math environment; the equation shown is a toy example; my real equation is much more intricate.
