  Hello All I've been banging my head over few hours for realising this particular logic My task is to have a masterlist ListM elements of which shall be list(again) in the form of ListA(type A) and ListB(type B) and ListC(type C)(some generic type). Also the lists A and ListB can contain elements of type C(some generic type). Coming to the preconditions 1. ListA can contain only 50 elements of type 'A', rest of the elements can be of generic type C 2. ListB can contain only 50 elements of type 'B', rest of the elements can be of generic type C 3. Also the lists(ListA or ListB) can take at max of 100 elements. 4. ListC can contain elements of generic type C and can take max of 100 elements For ex: Now, If i have 200 elements of type A and 200 elements of type B and 600 elements of type C then i should be able to get 4 Lists(50 elements in each list) of type...ListA (because each ListA can contain at max of 50 elements of type A only, rem 50 is typeC) 4 Lists(50 elements in each list) of type...ListB (because each ListA can contain at max of 50 elements of type B only, rem 50 is typeC) 2 Lists(50 elements in each list) of type...ListC i shall be glad to explain it again if my explanation is quite confusing. • Reading Data from DDFS ValueError: No JSON object could be decoded

  I'm running dozens of map reduce jobs for a number of different purposes using disco. My data has grown enormous and I thought I would try using DDFS for a change rather than standard txt files. I've followed the DISCO map/reduce example Counting Words as a map/reduce job, without to much difficulty and with the help of others, Reading JSON specific data into DISCO I've gotten past one of my latest problems. I'm trying to read data in/out of ddfs to better chunk and distribute it but am having a bit of trouble. • Can I get the item type from a BindingSource?

  I would like to get the Type of item that a BindingSource is hooked up to or configured for. The BindingSource.DataSource property can be set to an object, list, or type. If it is a Type, it obviously does not have an bound item yet, but I would still like to get the Type. For a List, I need the item Type, not the list type. There is a method BindingSource.GetItemProperties, that accomplishes most of what I need. It gets the PropertyDescriptors for the Type, list item, or object specified by the DataSource and DataMember. The reason I ask, is that I have some components that I would like to re-use, but they are currently setup to work off of an item Type. The Type is mainly used to get PropertyInfos and then build a UI, but PropertyInfo and PropertyDescriptor is not exactly the same, so it is not immediately apparent that they can be reworked to use a PropertyDescriptor collection instead. Then there is cascading refactoring of everything already using these components and that adds up to a lot of work that I would rather not do. I've looked through the API docs for for a good way to do this, but so far I have not had any luck. Am I missing something or is this just something I can not or should not be doing?

In fact, beyond that, I have not been able to find a good explanation of what this error even means, so if you could go beyond my basic question and explain the "infinite type" error, I'd really appreciate it. Therefore, when I pattern matched against "s (x:y:xs)", x and y became lists. And yet I was treating x and y as elements, not lists. Guideline for dealing with the "infinite type" error: Most of the time, when you get this error, you have forgotten the types of the various variables you're dealing with, and you have attempted to use a variable as if it were some other type than what it is. Look carefully at what type everything is versus how you're using it, and this will usually uncover the problem.

• Unable to install Konstruktor program

  I've recently switched to Linux, having a good knowledge of how it works before switching, since I've had experience working with Ubuntu-based servers for several months. I've been trying to install a LEGO CAD program that I have found based on an open source library. Information on that is here. The program I'm looking at is called Konstruktor, and for the most part it should be working. One dependency however does not seem to be able to install. The missing dependency is "kdelibs5", which I know what it is and what it's for, but can't get it to install. • Parent Objects

  Support for Parent Objects was added in Solaris 11 Update 1. The following material is adapted from the PSARC arc case, and the Solaris Linker and Libraries Manual. A "plugin" is a shared object, usually loaded via dlopen(), that is used by a program in order to allow the end user to add functionality to the program. Examples of plugins include those used by web browsers (flash, acrobat, etc), as well as mdb and elfedit modules. The object that loads the plugin at runtime is called the "parent object". Unlike most object dependencies, the parent is not identified by name, but by its status as the object doing the load. Historically, building a good plugin is has been more complicated than it should be: A parent and its plugin usually share a 2-way dependency: The plugin provides one or more routines for the parent to call, and the parent supplies support routines for use by the plugin for things like memory allocation and error reporting. It is a best practice to build all objects, including plugins, with the -z defs option, in order to ensure that the object specifies all of its dependencies, and is self contained. However: The parent is usually an executable, which cannot be linked to via the usual library mechanisms provided by the link editor. Even if the parent is a shared object, which could be a normal library dependency to the plugin, it may be desirable to build plugins that can be used by more than one parent, in which case embedding a dependency NEEDED entry for one of the parents is undesirable. The usual way to build a high quality plugin with -z defs uses a special mapfile provided by the parent. This mapfile defines the parent routines, specifying the PARENT attribute (see example below). This works, but is inconvenient, and error prone. The symbol table in the parent already describes what it makes available to plugins — ideally the plugin would obtain that information directly rather than from a separate mapfile. The new -z parent option to ld allows a plugin to link to the parent and access the parent symbol table. This differs from a typical dependency: No NEEDED record is created. The relationship is recorded as a logical connection to the parent, rather than as an explicit object name However, it operates in the same manner as any other dependency in terms of making symbols available to the plugin. When the -z parent option is used, the link-editor records the basename of the parent object in the dynamic section, using the new tag DT_SUNW_PARENT. This is an informational tag, which is not used by the runtime linker to locate the parent, but which is available for diagnostic purposes. The ld(1) manpage documentation for the -z parent option is: -z parent=object Specifies a "parent object", which can be an executable or shared object, against which to link the output object. This option is typically used when creating "plugin" shared objects intended to be loaded by an executable at runtime via the dlopen() function. The symbol table from the parent object is used to satisfy references from the plugin object. The use of the -z parent option makes symbols from the object calling dlopen() available to the plugin. Example For this example, we use a main program, and a plugin. The parent provides a function named parent_callback() for the plugin to call. This allows your output file to refer symbolically to absolute locations of memory defined in other programs. You may use this option more than once. -z parent is a higher level operation aimed specifically at simplifying the construction of high quality plugins. Although it employs the same operation, it differs from --just symbols in 2 significant ways: There can only be one parent. The parent is recorded in the created object, and can be displayed by 'file', or other similar tools.

• Why Google asks for "Title" for MIME type "image/*" in Google Webmasters?

  In my Google Webmasters account, in Optimization section, under HTML improvements I see that Google has indexed more than 100 links complaining that these links has no Title associated with them (Missing title tags). However, these links all result in thumbnails of images and they are served as MIME type (Internet Media Type) of "image/png", or "image/jpg", etc. What's wrong here?   I'm creating a Zelda-style RPG using Tiled, C#, and MonoGame. When my code parses the .tmx file, it will get a number to associate with each tile type based off of their position in the tile sheet. If I ever need to change my sprite sheet, this number will change for many of the tiles. How can I guarantee that when I parse my .tmx file, I will be able to know exactly what tile type I'm getting so that I can associate the proper data with it(transparency, animated, collision, etc.)?

  Something odd I recently encountered, running file --mime-type on a collection of MP3 gets the mime-time wrong a third of the time: $ for i in */*.mp3; do cat "$i"| file --mime-type -; done | sort | uniq -c 140 /dev/stdin: application/octet-stream 309 /dev/stdin: audio/mpeg There doesn't seem to be any obvious reason, as even MP3s from the same source, will sometimes fail and sometimes not. • Object hierarchy returned by WCF Service is different than expected

  Good Day Everyone... My understanding may be wrong, but I thought once you applied the correct attributes the DataContractSerializer would render fully-qualified instances back to the caller. The code runs and the objects return. But oddly enough, once I look at the returned objects I noticed the namespacing disappeared and the object-hierarchy being exposed through the (web applications) service reference seems to become "flat" (somehow). Now, I expect this from a web-service…but not through WFC. Of course, my understanding of what WFC can do may be wrong. ...please keep in mind I'm still experimenting with all this. So my questions are… Q: Can I do something within the WFC Service to force the namespacing to render through the (service reference) data client proxy? Q: Or perhaps, am I (merely) consuming the service incorrectly? Q: Is this even possible? My ultimate goal is to group a bunch of the Day controls within a Month control, which is then contained in a Year control as I'm trying to make a long Calendar Bar that lets you navigate through the months and years, while clicking on a Day would display any information saved on that date. But I can't even get the Day part to display independent of anything else so I'm a long way from the rest of the functionality. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Java Refuses to Start - Could not reserve enough space for object heap

  Background We have a pool of aproximately 20 linux blades. Some are running Suse, some are running Redhat. ALL share NAS space which contains the following 3 folders: /NAS/app/java - a symlink that points to an installation of a Java JDK. Currently version 1.5.0_10 /NAS/app/lib - a symlink that points to a version of our application. /NAS/data - directory where our output is written All our machines have 2 processors (hyperthreaded) with 4gb of physical memory and 4gb of swap space. We limit the number of 'jobs' each machine can process at a given time to 6 (this number likely needs to change, but that does not enter into the current problem so please ignore it for the time being). Some of our jobs set a Max Heap size of 512mb, some others reserve a Max Heap size of 2048mb. Again, we realize we could go over our available memory if 6 jobs started on the same machine with the heap size set to 2048, but to our knowledge this has not yet occurred. The Problem Once and a while a Job will fail immediately with the following message: Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap Could not create the Java virtual machine. We used to chalk this up to too many jobs running at the same time on the same machine. The problem happened infrequently enough (MAYBE once a month) that we'd just restart it and everything would be fine. The problem has recently gotten much worse. All of our jobs which request a max heap size of 2048m fail immediately almost every time and need to get restarted several times before completing. We've gone out to individual machines and tried executing them manually with the same result. Debugging It turns out that the problem only exists for our SuSE boxes. The reason it has been happening more frequently is becuase we've been adding more machines, and the new ones are SuSE. 'cat /proc/version' on the SuSE boxes give us: Linux version 2.6.5-7.244-bigsmp (geeko@buildhost) (gcc version 3.3.3 (SuSE Linux)) #1 SMP Mon Dec 12 18:32:25 UTC 2005 'cat /proc/version' on the RedHat boxes give us: Linux version 2.4.21-32.0.1.ELsmp ([email protected]) (gcc version 3.2.3 20030502 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.3-52)) #1 SMP Tue May 17 17:52:23 EDT 2005 'uname -a' gives us the following on BOTH types of machines: UTC 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux No jobs are running on the machine, and no other processes are utilizing much memory. All of the processes currently running might be using 100mb total. 'top' currently shows the following: Mem: 4146528k total, 3536360k used, 610168k free, 132136k buffers Swap: 4194288k total, 0k used, 4194288k free, 3283908k cached 'vmstat' currently shows the following: procs -----------memory---------- ---swap-- -----io---- --system-- ----cpu---- r b swpd free buff cache si so bi bo in cs us sy id wa 0 0 0 610292 132136 3283908 0 0 0 2 26 15 0 0 100 0 If we kick off a job with the following command line (Max Heap of 1850mb) it starts fine: java/bin/java -Xmx1850M -cp helloworld.jar HelloWorld Hello World If we bump up the max heap size to 1875mb it fails: java/bin/java -Xmx1875M -cp helloworld.jar HelloWorld Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap Could not create the Java virtual machine. It's quite clear that the memory currently being used is for Buffering/Caching and that's why so little is being displayed as 'free'. What isn't clear is why there is a magical 1850mb line where anything higher means Java can't start. Any explanations would be greatly appreciated.

• Jaxb unmarshalls fixml object but all fields are null

  I have a small XML document in the FIXML format. I'm unmarshalling them using jaxb. The problem The process complete without errors but the objects which are created are completely null. Every field is empty. The fields which are lists (like the Qty) have the right number of object in them. But the fields of those objects are also null. Setup I've downloaded the FIXML schema from here and I've created the classes with xjc and the maven plugin. They are all in the package org.fixprotocol.fixml_5_0_sp2. In the above sample the Amt array will have five element which matches the number of amts in the file. But all the fields like ccy are null. I've put breakpoints in the classes created by xjc and none of the setters are ever called. So it appears that jaxb is unmarshalling and creating all the correct objects, but it's never calling the setters?? I'm completely stumped on this. I've seen a few posts that suggrest making sure the package.info file that was generated by xjc is in the packags and I've made sure that it's there. There are no working in the IDE about the generated code. Any help much appreciated.

• Android inserting into SQLite JSON object

  I'm trying to insert the below json response from a server into my sqlite DB and then read from the DB. The problem I am getting is that when I run my code it compiles fine and runs with no errors. But when trying to read from the DB I just get back what seems like an empty string so I know that the table is being created. I have the correct permissions within the manifest. • nil object in view when building objects on two different associations

  Hello all. I'm relatively new to Ruby on Rails so please don't mind my newbie level! You might have expected an instance of ActiveRecord::Base. The error occurred while evaluating nil.new_record? However, if I change the order in which I a) build the paintingtitles and painting descriptions in the paintings_controller new method and b) show the paintingtitles and painting descriptions in the form partial then I get the nil on the paintingtitles.new_record? call. I always get the nil for the objects I build in second place. The ones I build first aren't nil in my view. Is it possible that I cannot build objects for 2 different associations at the same time? Or am I missing something else? Thanks in advance!

  I am having a hard time with ADO.NET Data Services (formerly code-named Astoria) as it gives me a bogus exception when I try to insert a new entity from the silverlight client and trying in a clean project (the same code) doesn't. In both cases, however, data is correctly inserted into the database. Using Fiddler (an HTTP debugger I could see that there is no problem in the HTTP communication as I will show later in this question.
