  All began with these simple lines of code: string s = "16.9"; double d = Convert.ToDouble(s); d*=100; The result should be 1690.0, but it's not. d is equal to 1689.9999999999998. All I want to do is to round a double to value with 2 digit after decimal separator. A workaround to this problem is to concatenate "00001" to the string and then use the Math.Round function (commented in the example above). This double value multiplied to 100 (as integer) is send to a device (cash register) and this values must be correct. I am using VS2005 + .NET CF 2.0 Is there another more "elegant" solution, I am not happy with this one.

  Hello, I'm writing a WinForms app, and am trying to bind a boolean property on a .NET object to a Checkbox's "checked" property. This code works in IE6, IE7, FF3, and Safari... Any ideas? Does it have something to do with the '$(this)' selector in the switch?   I'm testing CeGCC, that is a gcc built to cross-compile applications to Windows CE devices. As everyone do to test compilers, I've done a Hello World program: #include <stdio.h> int main() { printf("Hello, World!"); return 0; } As I'm using Windows now(because this is my other laptop), I'm using Cygwin. • Error Handling in T-SQL Scalar Function

  Ok.. this question could easily take multiple paths, so I will hit the more specific path first. While working with SQL Server 2005, I'm trying to create a scalar funtion that acts as a 'TryCast' from varchar to int. Where I encounter a problem is when I add a TRY block in the function; CREATE FUNCTION u_TryCastInt ( @Value as VARCHAR(MAX) ) RETURNS Int AS BEGIN DECLARE @Output AS Int BEGIN TRY SET @Output = CONVERT(Int, @Value) END TRY BEGIN CATCH SET @Output = 0 END CATCH RETURN @Output END Turns out theres all sorts of things wrong with this statement including "Invalid use of side-effecting or time-dependent operator in 'BEGIN TRY' within a function" and "Invalid use of side-effecting or time-dependent operator in 'END TRY' within a function". I can't seem to find any examples of using try statements within a scalar function, which got me thinking, is error handling in a function is possible? The goal here is to make a robust version of the Convert or Cast functions to allow a SELECT statement carry through depsite conversion errors. For example, take the following; CREATE TABLE tblTest ( f1 VARCHAR(50) ) GO INSERT INTO tblTest(f1) VALUES('1') INSERT INTO tblTest(f1) VALUES('2') INSERT INTO tblTest(f1) VALUES('3') INSERT INTO tblTest(f1) VALUES('f') INSERT INTO tblTest(f1) VALUES('5') INSERT INTO tblTest(f1) VALUES('1.1') SELECT CONVERT(int,f1) AS f1_num FROM tblTest DROP TABLE tblTest It never reaches point of dropping the table because the execution gets hung on trying to convert 'f' to an integer. I want to be able to do something like this; SELECT u_TryCastInt(f1) AS f1_num FROM tblTest fi_num __________ 1 2 3 0 5 0 Any thoughts on this? Is there anything that exists that handles this? Also, I would like to try and expand the conversation to support SQL Server 2000 since Try blocks are not an option in that scenario. Thanks in advance.

• WPF ComboBox Binding to non string object

  I'm using MVVM (MVVM Light Toolkit) and have a property on the view model which exposes a list of objects. The objects contain two properties, both strings, which correlate to an abbreviation and a description. I want the ComboBox to expose the pairing as "abbreviation - description". If I use a data template, it does this easily. I have another property on the view model which represents the object that should display as selected -- the chosen item in the ComboBox. I'm binding the ItemsSource to the list, as it represents the universe of available selections, and am trying to bind the SelectedItem to this object. I'm killing myself trying to figure out why I can't get it to work, and feeling more like a fraud by the hour. In trying to learn why this works, I created the same approach with just a list of strings, and a selected string. This works perfectly. So, it clearly has something to do with the typing... perhaps something in choosing equality? Or perhaps it has to do with the data template? • Jquery JQGrid breaks when contentType=application/json?

  I've had to use $.ajaxSetup() to globally change the contentType to application/json $.ajaxSetup({ contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8" }); (See this question for why I had to use application/json http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2792603/aspnet-mvc-why-is-modelstate-isvalid-false-the-x-field-is-required-when-that) But this breaks the jquery jqrid with this error: Invalid JSON primitive: _search The POST data it is trying to send is: _search=false&nd=1274042681880&rows=20&page=1&sidx=&sord=asc Which of is not in json format, so of course it fails. Is there anyway to tell jqrid what contenttype to use? • C# System.Threading.Timer and its state object

  I am writing a C# program that uses System.Threading.Timer to timeout on a UDP socket ReceiveAsync call. My program polls a remote device, sending a UDP packet and expecting one in return. I use the timer in one shot mode calling Timer.Change every time I want a new timeout period. For every occurance of a timeout I'd like the timeout handler to have a different piece of information. If I change the object I pass to the Timer on creation it doesn't seem to change when the handler executes. Is the only way to do this to destroy the timer and create a new one? Thanks,

  I'm using the WSDL object model (WOM) along with XSOM for a project of mine. The WOM gives me a way to drill down and look at messages and the message types which are element declarations. However, I am unable to find a way to parse the simple and complex types. The APIs are tricky. There seems to be some kind of a connection between WOM and XSOM.   When I add jquery to sharepoint 2007 (MOSS) and try and use it on a page no matter what I write on the client i get an "object expected" at the line/column where the "$" appears. I have used fiddler to check that the client is downloading the query JS (which it is) But its like its being ignore and therefor eth "$" is not understood. • wpf binding by selected value - swap out bound object without disturbing binding

  Hi, I've got combo box bound to a custom collection type - its basically an overridden ObservableCollection which I've added a facility to update the underlying collection (via Unity). I don't want to confuse the issue too much, but thats the background. My xaml looks like this <ComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding Manufacturers}" DisplayMemberPath="Name" SelectedValuePath="ID" SelectedValue="{Binding Vehicle.ManufacturerID}" /> And in my overridden collection i was doing this. index = IndexOf(oldItem); Insert(index, (T)newItem); RemoveAt(index + 1); I had hoped because it was bound by value, that inserting the new object(which had the same id) and then removing the old one would work. But it seems that although its bound by SelectedValue it still knows that its being swapped for a different one. The combo just looses its selection. Can anyone help please?
