  • Dealing with AVCHD. Any free software to extract or edit AVCHD video?

    I have a Panasonic HDC-SD5 video carmera which records in HD format to a memory card. It also came with a DVD burner which burns this format to DVD which I need a blu-ray player to view. I can get about 30 min worth of video on 1 DVD. My problem is the software that comes with the camera is not very good at all so I am constantly just using the 'backup' feature in the included burner (connect drive to camera, push backup, and it spits out up to 4 DVDs worth of HD video). Now that I have the video backed up on DVD in the HD format (blu-ray), is there any free software that I can use to edit this video and create other HD DVD's with my own menus, transitions, etc? I was considering buying Pinnacle Studio but I wanted to exaust any free options before biting the bullet. Any suggestions for software I could use or anything else I could do to make dealing with this AVCHD format any easier that I am unaware of? Edit: Sorry forgot to include that I am running Windows Vista 64-bit. Edit: Still haven't found anything that is truely free. Everything has limitations by either time, watermark the video or degrade the quality. Edit: So I still haven't found really anything, so is there some software I can use to convert the video to another format that I then could use to edit the video?

  • Can I still restore partition table?

    Once I was going to resize partitions on my Mac HD from Bootcamp. I changed my mind and was going to quit, but apparently I hit a button, which made every single mac partion dissapear, and windows 7 refused to restart and be reinstalled. The 1 TB large HD consists of 3 partions, I believe. Since I can't see their actual size (except bootcamp), this is how I recall it. Macintosh HD about 500GB (Somewhere around 700GB according to disk utillity, but 500 according to Finder, and 500GB was all I could access.) Lion Recovery disk Bootcamp 293.36 GB To fix this I connected my mac via target disk mode to a pc and ran TestDisk. However this is the results: Since I Don't have 10 reputation I cant post the image showing the testdisk results, so I post a link instead hoping it is ok. The two mac partitions' sizes are completely wrong, and BOOTCAMP isn't showing. I tested using disk utilities from the snow leopard dvd. There there is one 293.36 GB Mac OS Extended partition. Before I had the firewire cable for target disk mode I tried reinstalling windows. Without success I tried again formating BOOTCAMP. Was that a bad thing to do? Could it have overwritten data from Macintosh HD? Unfortunately I have no backup. I could bring it to some kind of computer repair firm though.

  • Error during Time Machine backups on OS X Lion

    After I turn on my machine, the first couple of Time Machine backups seem to go OK, but after about an hour I get this error: Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder. Latest successful backup: 7/31/11 at 12:32 PM I'm running 10.7. Time Machine is backing up an internal HD to an external USB HD. I've already run Disk Utility to repair the Time Machine partition. It's a relatively new hard drive and didn't have any issues.     which computer to choose with Pentium processor hello they are getting rid of the old computer equipment in the office and i have to choose the computer to take home i get first choice to pick. -15 inch lcd screen 4 gb of ram core 2 duo dual Core E8400 3.00 GHz dvd writer windows vista/ linux -15 inch crt monitor with 2 gb ram and pentium 4 2 ghz single core HT technology windows xp hardisks both 250 GB my friend is telling me to choose the second one Pentium single core HT because he told me it runs faster becuase of HT technology and cooler and consumes less current electricity so it wont get overheated because it has HT technology so it's high definition for encoding and watching HD movies and HD sound and is like a gaming pc to play internet games. And also he said the dual core 8400 runs at 3 ghz compared to the 2 ghz so it heats very much because of the two extra cores so it takes more current raising electricty bills and is not good for gaming and watching HD movies and internet flash animations and games because of getting heated everytime. And he wants to choose and take the E8400 because he has air conditioning at home so it will be safe from heating. So which one computer should i take is it really faster because of the HT High definition technology and will i be able to play internet flash card games better and watch good HD movies Youtube etc and play all the music and songs.

  • Mac Finder: WD My Passport won't mount

    I really need your help. I have a WD My Passport 650GB (with Firewire and USB). I'm using it for almost a year now and it always worked fine. While underway I simply plug it in via Firewire - at home I connect it to my Airport Extreme to have it available as a network storage. Today I connected the hd to my macbookpro (via firewire) and NOTHING. The hd is starting (clearly making a sound and the power-indicator is flashing) but it won't appear in Finder. I also tried it with USB - no sign. I ran Disk Utility and tried to repair the disk. At first try I got a red error line saying that something is wrong with the "headers". However the repair completed with a success message saying that everything is ok. I also verified the hd. Also with a success message. I did that a few times again and unplugged it in between. Never got the error with the headers again - it's always completing and saying everything is ok. However I can't mount the drive. That is what Disk Utility is showing. Any ideas on that? I really need the files on that hd. thank you in advance!

    i am writing a sendmail module to email some things to my site users. for testing it i use my own email at yahoo to receive this email. but some thing woeful happend. about 1200 sent to my email address at yahoo at a moment and yahoo sent all of them to spam box. now i can't send any email to yahoo addresses and my server gives me this message in mailq: "delivery temporarily suspended: host g.mx.mail.yahoo.com[98.137.54.238] refused to talk to me..." how can i solve this problem?? many users of my site have yahoo email address. my server uses postfix. thanks for helping .

    hi i have added openid login with Yahoo! and Google in my site. it is ok and works fine. when users select for example Yahoo! to login to my site, they will be logged in in their yahoo mail account too. i think it is not secure because maybe they don't notice to this issue and leave computer while their email account is availble. what do you think about this and what is your solution for your own sites? as i notice the same story is for stackoverflow.com.

  • Microsoft chart images are not loaded from MOSS server

    hi, i have webpage in which a webpart contains a Chart control. the problem is chart control is rendered perfectly when i login as central admin. but when i login as another user with contribute permisson following problems occur. when i change webconfig as --- add key="ChartImageHandler" value="storage=file;timeout=20;dir=c:\TempImageFiles\;"--- page is not at all loaded. i get error like YOU ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO VIEW THIS PAGE. when i change the wbconfig as --- add key="ChartImageHandler" value="storage=memory;timeout=20;URL=/_layouts/Images/MicrosoftChartControls/" --- the page loads fine but image is not rendered. A red mark appears in place of image. I tried all optins got by googling.. any more suggestions/help will be welcomed
