    On some .JPG files (EPS previews, generated by Adobe Illustrator) in Windows 7 InPlaceBitmapMetadataWriter.TrySave() returns true after some SetQuery() calls, but does nothing. Code sample: BitmapDecoder decoder; BitmapFrame frame; BitmapMetadata metadata; InPlaceBitmapMetadataWriter writer; decoder = BitmapDecoder.Create(s, BitmapCreateOptions.PreservePixelFormat | BitmapCreateOptions.IgnoreColorProfile, BitmapCacheOption.Default); frame = decoder.Frames[0]; metadata = frame.Metadata as BitmapMetadata; writer = frame.CreateInPlaceBitmapMetadataWriter(); try { writer.SetQuery("System.Title", title); writer.SetQuery(@"/app1/ifd/{ushort=" + exiftagids[0] + "} ", (title + '\0').ToCharArray()); writer.SetQuery(@"/app13/irb/8bimiptc/iptc/object name", title); return writer.TrySave(); } catch { return false; } Image sample You can reproduce problem (if you have Windows 7) by downloading image sample and using this code sample to set title on this image.   • How do I anchor an expander to right side of a ListBox?

    The XAML code below works fine except I want the expander button to be between the listbox and the grid. If I set the ExpandDirection="Left" the button is between the listbox and the grid but the direction indicator on the button is confusing to users - it point to the right when expanded and it points to the left when it is not expanded.     Let's say you have an MVVM CRM application. You have a number of customer objects in memory, through a repository. What would be the appropriate place to handle tasks that aren't associated with traditional MVVM tasks from a GUI? For example, let's say every few minutes you want to check to see if their address is valid and pop up a notification if it is not. Or you want to send out an hourly e-mail update. Or you want a window to pop up to remind you to call a customer at a specific time. Where does this logic go? It's not GUI/action-oriented, and it's not logic that would be appropriate for a repository, I think.

  • How do I get a title or some text to appear in a Silverlight mediaplayer when switching to FullScree

    I am working on an ASP.NET website with VB.NET code-behind. I have a Silverlight mediaplayer object on one of the pages and the user may view that video in FullScreen mode. When changing to full-screen mode they are losing the title and chapter of the video series they are viewing. I have tried accessing properties and searched the web for examples on how I could put a title or some text over the player when in FullScreen mode to give the user an indication of where they are currently at while viewing each video. I am using OnClientMediaEnded to move through the videos after each video has ended so they are able to watch the whole series once in FullScreen mode. I am using a call to javascript in with this method to do that and want to know if there is any way to get a title or text up there and then change once the video switches to the next in the series? The controls on the player also go away when going into FullScreen mode so any help with that would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks

  • Margically appearing margin in footer. Could use some fresh eye's on this.

    Hi chaps! Got a nearly finished coded comp here: http://clients.pixelbleed.net/biodesign/ I realize it's not completely valid, what with my nesting of li's and ul's within A tags. Unfortunately that's the way it has to be. My issue is with the very bottom of the footer. It has a space showing the body's background color beneath it. Tried a number of things and this space after the black link bar on the very bottom is a resistant little bugger. Ideally the black box on the bottom should rest against the very base of the view-port, at least when the content is sufficiently long--which it is in this case. If someone would like to take a quick peak at my source and give me some ideas I'd be very grateful. The CSS can be found here: http://clients.pixelbleed.net/biodesign/css/core.css And, yes, I've tried removing the height:100%. Makes no difference it seems. I do believe the issue to be with the footer, as when I remove these Div's the content rests as it should. Just don't see anything in my CSS to cause the margin/spacing issue though. Thanks so much.

  • How do I keep JTextFields in a Java Swing BoxLayout from expanding?

    I have a JPanel that looks something like this: JPanel panel = new JPanel(); panel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(panel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); ... panel.add (jTextField1); panel.add (Box.createVerticalStrut(10)); panel.add (jButton1); panel.add (Box.createVerticalStrut(30)); panel.add (jTextField2); panel.add (Box.createVerticalStrut(10)); panel.add (jButton2); ... //etc. My problem is that the JTextFields become huge vertically. I want them to only be high enough for a single line, since that is all that the user can type in them. The buttons are fine (they don't expand vertically). Is there any way to keep the JTextFields from expanding? I'm pretty new to Swing, so let me know if I'm doing everything horribly wrong.

    I'm trying to create some pages in my Windows Phone application without the use of any XAML. Everything is working, however, I'm failing to use NavigationService/ Journal with this approach and all my attempts to utilize it are answered by the usual "No XAML was found at the location {0}'" response. Yes, I can add an almost empty XAML file to get everything working, but is this kind of boiler plate code really necessary? Is it maybe possible to use the UriMapping to map certain Uris to specific classes instead of *.xaml files?

    How do you bind data from the view model into an object in the resources of the user control? I've tried the following: <local:GroupingProvider x:Key="groupingProvider" GroupValue="{Binding ElementName=userControl, Path=DataContext.Property}"/> But this doesn't work. Edit: GroupProvider extends DependencyObject and GroupValue is the name of a DependencyProperty. I'm getting an debugging message telling me that the property to which I am binding doesn't exist.

    I have implemented a Splash Screen according to WiredPrairie unmanaged c++ splasher class. But not when my application loads, my window isn't activated. The user has to click on the login box even thought it is the only window open in my application. I have tried the following but none of these work. Topmost = true; Focus(); Activate(); Is there any way to give my login window focus when the application starts? Sometimes the window behind it has focus! (Visual Studio if run on my machine), Explorer or a different application window on other peoples machines. Anyone have any idea?

    I can't seem to set a default background color for all of my windows in my application. Does anyone know how to do this? What am I doing wrong? Is there something special I have to do for a Window type.

What method can I override so my Cartesian grid knows how many columns and rows it has?     I'm using DataGrid from CodePlex. I have objects (ICustomTypeDescriptor) that have properties 'name' 'description' 'c' 'd' and so on (the names are dynamic, and so is the value) and they have information behind them. I have templates for different types. And if I have to list the properties of a single element I can just bind to the values in xaml and use datatemplateselector (in datagridtemplatecolumn) which will pick the correct template. However, when I'm listing several of the elements, how can I use the selectors and the templates? How do I get the correct property bound to the template (two-way)? When ignoring the need for different templates, using DataGridTextColumn with bindings is very simple (and works, see example below), is there any way to use similar approach with the DataGridTemplateColumn? foreach (String propertyName in listOfPropertyNames) { DataGridTextColumn textColumn = new DataGridTextColumn() { Header = propertyName, Binding = new Binding() { Path = new PropertyPath(propertyName) } }; DataGrid.Columns.Add(textColumn); }

  • Showing Loading screen during REST service request in android app ?

    Currently here is what I am following, As soon as my app is launched, I have to send a request for REST service, It will take little time , so I thought of showing loading screen, In onCreate() of my Activity , first thing will be to show loading screen(progress dialog) , And I kick off the background Activity using AsyncTask , i.e. requesting for REST service and onPostexecute() I close the dialog and then I do setContentView(myxml); and update the UI . Can this approach be improved ? Problem which I faced was , Sometimes , Garbage collector may start(due to various reasons) and my app hangs at loading screen forever , because of Garbage collector , even request for REST service is not sent and because of it some wake up call comes and rest is disaster and Force close. But sometimes even ForceClose doesnot come fast , may be because of GC. so I cannot even go back and stuck in loading screen. Only thing which I can do at that point is to come back HOME. After that If I come back to my app its still loading , so definitely this approach seems to be a bad design. Whats the right approach ?

    Hi I'm using the Bing Maps control to display a series of custom pushpins, representing objects which are constantly moving around and changing state. Using databinding the various properties for the objects are being updated as they should, but for some reason this doesn't apply to their locations. I have the map bound to an ObservableCollection as such: <UserControl.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="PushpinTemplate"> <v:CustomPushpin /> </DataTemplate> </UserControl.Resources> ... <m:Map Name="map"> <m:MapItemsControl ItemTemplate="{StaticResource PushpinTemplate}" ItemsSource="{Binding Objects}" /> </m:Map> ...and in CustomPushpin: <UserControl ... m:MapLayer.Position="{Binding Location}" m:MapLayer.PositionOrigin="BottomCenter" mc:Ignorable="d" d:DesignHeight="126" d:DesignWidth="85"> Like all other properties, the Location of the individual objects are implemented using INotifyPropertyChanged. private Location _location; public Location Location { get { return _location; } set { _location = value; OnPropertyChanged("Location"); } } When the map is moving, either because of panning or zooming, the objects move, but othersize not. I can't quite figure if I'm doing something wrong here, or if it's a problem with the Bing Maps control. Any thought?

  • Why isn't my div scrolling horizontally when adding multiple images?

    I have an outer div, and inside of that, I have an inner div which contains a list of images. When the images are wider than the outer div, I want to have it scroll horizontally, but instead, it just puts the image on the next line instead of expanding. If I add many rows, the div does scroll vertically, but horizontally, it doesn't do it. This happens on every browser I've tried - Firefox, Chrome, IE, and Safari. It does scroll vertically. Can I force the div to expand? If I remove the width from the grid div, I do get the horizontal scroll bar, but the image is still on the second row.
