How to modify style for an asp:textbox in codebehind ?

Hi all, I am trying to set the style of an asp:TextBox in codebehind, the textbox is style is set initially to style="display:none" when I set the dispaly to block in codebehind the textbox appears for a moment and then it's gone. When connected to a local RVD a sending application is shielded from network interruptions and the send message methods will only block for the time it takes for the message to reach the local RVD process. With remote RVD the sending application is no longer shielded from network interruptions and the send message methods will block for the time it takes to hop across the network to reach the remote RVD process. Is my understanding correct? The documentation is vague regarding remote daemons. I'm mostly concerned with how reliable and performant the send message will be from the perspective of a sending application. Introducing unnecessary blocking on the client side due to sending a message (especially a network hop) is a big no-no in this application. The speed at which the messages reach the consumer is not of the utmost importance. With this in mind is a remote RVD out of the question?

Ruby New dnssd (bonjour zeroconf) service not appearing while browsing

Here is my simple zeroconf (aka bonjour dnssd) browser. If I have other services running when I start the browser I can see it (the 'resolved to' line prints to the screen). However, if I start up another service while this browser is running it will not appear. It just waits at the top of the block so I would expect it to enter the block once a new service is registered. Why are Pascal control structures inconsistent?

Most Pascal control structures make sense to me, like: for ... do {statement}; if (condition) then {statement}; while (condition) do {statement}; where the {statement} is either a single statement, or a begin ... end block. I have a problem with: repeat {statement-list} until (expression); try {statement-list} except {statement-list} end; Wouldn't it be better that repeat and try have the same general structure, accepting only a single statement or a begin ... end block, instead of having a statement-list that's not formally blocked with a begin and an end?

NamedParameterJdbcTemplate jconnect decimal issue

I am using NamedParameterJdbcTemplate to insert data into a table. (Spring 2.5.3/Java 1.6) I am using jconnect driver to connect to sybase jdbc:sybase:Tds:<Server>:<Port>. For some reason the decimal values the decimal part is truncated. With the same code if I use jtds driver (jdbc:jtds:sybase://<Servername>:<Port>) its working fine. I cannot use jtds as jconn is being used by other code. In Java objects, field is defined as double. In database, field is defined as float (numeric with precision does not work). Any help is appreciated.

Hello there, I'm experimenting with C# 4.0's dynamic object model. I've created an abstract class named "Block" that inherits from DynamicObject. It overrides TryGetMember and TrySetMember. Furthermore I've created a usable class named "Brush" that inherits from "Block". I want it to be usable dynamically. But when I create a dynamic object from it and try to access a runtime bound member, it pelts me with an exception telling me that the member doesn't exist. The overridden TryGetMember or TrySetMember methods of the abstract parent class aren't getting called. Is this behaviour to be expected? Thank you!

Add inner-marging to a 4 columns CSS

I am not a CSS expert (mainly because I haven’t had the need to use much HTML/CSS stuff lately), so I came up with the following style/divs to create a 4 column layout: <style type="text/css">  </style> note: most of this stuff comes from this google result, I just adapted it to 4 columns. The HTML then looks like this: <div class="columns col4"> <div class="column first”> SOME TEXT </div> <div class="column last”> SOME LAST TEXT </div> Ok, I’ve simplified that a bit (there’s a small image and some < h2 text in there too) but the thing is that I’d like to add some space between the columns. Here’s how it looks now: Do you have any idea what CSS property should I touch? note: If I add margin or padding, one column shifts down because (as I understand it) it doesn’t fit. There might be other CSSs as well, since this came in a template (I have been asked for this change, but I didn’t do any of this, as usual). Thanks for any insight.

Simple image server

I have a bunch of images that I need others to browse via a web browser in pretty much the same way as Apache-Gallery. I'd be able to dump all my images in a directory so that users hitting: http://server:port/directory would see small thumbnails and selecting an image would load it full size on a page with options to browse the previous or next image. I'm looking for a non Apache solution, much like the wonderfull Python simple http server, that can be launched anywhere with minimal configuration & fuss e.g. python -m SimpleHTTPServer 8000 In fact, the python solution above is pretty much want I want except it doesn't thumbnail the images but just a simple directory listing. Happy to use an app written in any common language so long as it is self contained and can run on linux on a custom port (and to re-iterate, not an Apache module).

Hello, I am aware that there is a native implementation of loop device system on osx, the hdiutil/hdix driver. But due to a number of reasons i need to roll out my own custom loop driver. Since hdix is closed-source can anyone give some starting pointers, links, advises, etc. on the subject? I had expirience implementing loop drivers on linux and windows but i don't really have a clue where to start from on osx. The basic functionality i need to implement is the same: given any file on disk, simulate a virtual block device interface for it. I also would like my loop driver to use all the native partition filter stacking available for real and hdix virtual block devices on osx.

How do I upgrade my MacPorts Perl installation?

I have installed MacPorts in my MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard. I hadn't explicitly installed perl there but I guess it either came installed with the default macports install or was installed as a dependency by any other port I installed. I want to upgrade the Perl v5.8.9 there with the latest stable Perl version. Whichever it may be currently (I see it is 5.12.2). So, my question is simply how do I do a complete replacement of the old Perl with the new in macports. Will sudo port upgrade perl5 work or do I need to do something else as well. I just wanted to make sure this was the right command so as to avoid screwing up my macports install.

Unable to connect to a local MYSQL server on wireles LAN.

Ok, Here is the technical description. My laptop's config: Ip Adress:192.168.2.5 Mysqlserver 5.0 on port : 3306 Operating system: Ubuntu jaunty (9.04) 3306 is open for both incoming and outgoing. My friend's laptop config: Ip Adress:192.168.2.4 Mysqlserver 5.0 on port : 3306 Operating system: Windows XP pro 3306 is open for both incoming and outgoing. Both are on a wireless LAN connected through a belkin router (192.168.2.1) Both the MYSQL servers have been given the sufficient GRANT privileges. I am also able to connect from 192.168.2.4 to 192.168.2.5's MYSQL instance but the vice versa is not happening. I am getting an (100061) error. Tried Telnetting on 3306; again happening from 192.168.2.4 to 192.168.2.5 but not the vice versa. Am I doing something wrong? Kindly suggest.
