  • Package SWF into an EXE or APP

    - by Jeremy White
I am trying to adjust my Flash development workflow so that I am using Flash Builder for all of my coding and multiple FLA files for the user interfaces. I will be creating an ActionScript project in Flash Builder and then having each FLA export a SWC into a resources folder. It is important that I retain the ability to export PC and Mac -- EXE and app, respectively -- projector files. Is there a way of doing this with the Flash compiler or any 3rd party tools?

  • Internationalization of static pages with Rails

    - by Gavin
I feel like I'm missing something really simple and I keep spinning my wheels on this problem. I currently have internationalization working throughout my app. The translations work and the routes work perfectly. At least, most of the site works with the exception of the routes to my two static pages, my "About" and "FAQ" pages. Every other link throughout the app points to the proper localized route. For example if I select "french" as my language, links point to the appropriate "(/:locale)/controller(.:format)." However, despite the changes I make throughout the app my links for the "About" and "FAQ" refuse to point to "../fr/static/about" and always point to "/static/about." To make matters stranger, when I run rake routes I see: "GET (/:locale)/static/:permalink(.:format) pages#show {:locale=/en|fr/}" and when I manually type in "../fr/static/about" the page translates perfectly. My Routes file: devise_for :users scope "(:locale)", :locale => /en|fr/ do get 'static/:permalink', :controller => 'pages', :action => 'show' resources :places, only: [:index, :show, :destroy] resources :homes, only: [:index, :show] match '/:locale' => 'places#index' get '/'=>'places#index',:as=>"root" end My ApplicationController: before_filter :set_locale def set_locale I18n.locale=params[:locale]||I18n.default_locale end def default_url_options(options={}) logger.debug "default_url_options is passed options: #{options.inspect}\n" { :locale => I18n.locale } end and My Pages Controller: class PagesController < ApplicationController before_filter :validate_page PAGES = ['about_us', 'faq'] def show render params[:permalink] end def validate_page redirect_to :status => 404 unless PAGES.include?(params[:permalink]) end end I'd be very grateful for any help ... it's just been one of those days. Edit: Thanks to Terry for jogging me to include views. <div class="container-fluid nav-collapse"> <ul class="nav"> <li class="dropdown"> <a href="#" class="dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown"><%= t(:'navbar.about') %><b class="caret"></b></a> <ul class="dropdown-menu"> <li><%=link_to t(:'navbar.about_us'), "/static/about_us"%></li> <li><%=link_to t(:'navbar.faq'), "/static/faq"%></li> <li><%=link_to t(:'navbar.blog'), '#' %></li> </ul> </li>

  • Why "Finalize method should not reference any other objects" ?

    - by mishal153
I have been pondering why it is recommended that we should not release managed resources inside finalize. If you see the code example at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.gc.suppressfinalize.aspx , and search for string "Dispose(bool disposing) executes in two distinct scenarios" and read that comment, you will understand what I mean. Only possibility I can think of is that it probably has something to do with the fact that it is not possible to predict when finalizer will get called. Does anyone know the right answer ? thanks, mishal

  • Generate java code in Eclipse?

    - by drozzy
Does anyone know what approach one can take to automatically generate Java source code, from for example an xml or json file, in eclipse? One great example of what I am thinking of doing is what Google Android sdk does: they have an R class generated automatically from the resources. Every time a resource file is saved in Eclipse R class is automatically regenerated. Thanks!

  • How can i tell jaxb / Maven to genereate multiple schema packages?

    - by M.R.
Example: </plugin> <plugin> <groupId>org.jvnet.jaxb2.maven2</groupId> <artifactId>maven-jaxb2-plugin</artifactId> <version>0.7.1</version> <executions> <execution> <goals> <goal>generate</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> <configuration> <schemaDirectory>src/main/resources/dir1</schemaDirectory> <schemaIncludes> <include>schema1.xsd</include> </schemaIncludes> <generatePackage>schema1.package</generatePackage> </configuration> </plugin> <plugin> <groupId>org.jvnet.jaxb2.maven2</groupId> <artifactId>maven-jaxb2-plugin</artifactId> <version>0.7.1</version> <executions> <execution> <goals> <goal>generate</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> <configuration> <schemaDirectory>src/main/resources/dir2</schemaDirectory> <schemaIncludes> <include>schema2.xsd</include> </schemaIncludes> <generatePackage>schema2.package</generatePackage> </configuration> </plugin> </plugins> What happened: Maven executes the the first plugin. Then deletes the target folder and creates the second package, which then is visible. I tried to set target/somedir1 for the first configuration and target/somedir2 for the second configuration. But the behavior does not not change? Any ideas? I do not want to generate the packages directly in the src/main/java folder, because these packages are genereated and should not be mixed with manual created classes.

  • Flex: Is it worth upgrading to Flex 4?

    - by ChrisInCambo
Hi, I'm in the process of building my first serious Flex application and have started out using Flex 3.4 even though 4.0 was available mainly due to the larger number of resources. But now I feel very comfortable with the Flex API's, is it worth upgrading to Flex 4? What are the benefits? And can I expect much pain when porting my existing code base of only a few thousand lines of code? Cheers, Chris

  • What is your favourite Windbg tip/trick?

    - by user15071
I have come to realize that Windbg is a very powerful debugger for the Windows platform & I learn something new about it once in a while. Can fellow Windbg users share some of their mad skills? ps: I am not looking for a nifty command, those can be found in the documentation. How about sharing tips on doing something that one couldn't otherwise imagine could be done with windbg? e.g. Some way to generate statistics about memory allocations when a process is run under windbg.

  • How to decide on what hardware to deploy web application

    - by Yuval A
Suppose you have a web application, no specific stack (Java/.NET/LAMP/Django/Rails, all good). How would you decide on which hardware to deploy it? What rules of thumb exist when determining how many machines you need? How would you formulate parameters such as concurrent users, simultaneous connections and DB read/write ratio to a decision on how much, and which, hardware you need? Any resources on this issue would be very helpful...

  • Learning the Introspection API (used by FxCop)

    - by Anand Patel
Microsoft's FxCop tool uses the introspection API. This introspection API could be used to develop new code analysis tools. But the introspection api is not documented well. Additionally, I was not able to figure out any blogs which explains this API in breadth and depth of it. The knowledge gained by understanding the API can also be used for writing custom FxCop rules. Does anybody knows about any blog or resources which explains the same?

  • New programming jargon you coined?

    - by jdk
What programming terms have you coined that have taken off in your own circles? (i.e. have heard others repeating it?) It might be within your own team, workplace or garnered greater popularity on the Internet. Define your programming term, word or phrase in bold followed by an explanation, citation and/or usage example so we can use it in appropriate context. This question serves in the spirit of communication among programmers through sharing of terminology with each other, to benefit us by its propagation within our own teams and environments. Please no repeats of common jargon already ingrained in the programming culture like: "kludge", "automagically", "cruft", etc. (unless you coined it). Stealing from the comments: A shared vocabulary is the basis of communication, not just among programmers, Note: This Programming question has been reworded/reorganized to phrase a real question and remove ambiguity, vagueness and rhetorical device. It is not difficult to know what is being asked & question can be reasonably answered (see answers below).

  • Differences between WPF Custom Control Library and plain Class Library?

    - by David Veeneman
I posted a question a few months ago about sharing resource dictionaries across assemblies. It turns out you can do that using the Component Resource Key markup extension. At the time, I could only get it working with a WPF Custom Control project, not with a plain Class Library project. Now I need to use an existing plain Class Library project to host a shared resource dictionary. That means I need to retrofit the Class Library project to support the Component Resource Key markup extension. I have added a Themes folder and a Generic.xaml resource dictionary document to the Class Library project, as well as references to PresentationCore, PresentationFramework, and WindowsBase. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to do the trick. So, here is my question: Other than the above, what does a WPF Custom Control Library project have that a plain Class Library project doesn't? Or, to put it another way, what else could I add to my class library project to get this feature working? Thanks.

  • Item index of Binding element

    I am creating a XAML / C# WinRT App and i have a collection of collection and i am binding it to a Grid-view(collections as groups ) Now i have to color the background of the GridViewItem according to their index in the collection (Dark color for the first one and light color for the last one ) How can i implement using a converter. My XAML <GridView x:Name="Grid1" ItemsSource="{Binding}" ItemTemplateSelector="{StaticResource templateSelector}" SelectionMode="None" > <GridView.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <VirtualizingStackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" VirtualizingStackPanel.VirtualizationMode="Recycling"/> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </GridView.ItemsPanel> <GridView.GroupStyle> <GroupStyle HidesIfEmpty="True"> <GroupStyle.HeaderTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid Margin="0,0,0,0"> <TextBlock Text='{Binding Name}' Margin="5" /> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </GroupStyle.HeaderTemplate> <GroupStyle.ContainerStyle> <Style TargetType="GroupItem" > <Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="0"/> <Setter Property="Margin" Value="0,0"/> </Style> </GroupStyle.ContainerStyle> <GroupStyle.Panel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <VariableSizedWrapGrid/> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </GroupStyle.Panel> </GroupStyle> </GridView.GroupStyle> </GridView> .......... <converters:MyConverter x:Key="templateSelector" Temp1="{StaticResource Temp1}" Temp2="{StaticResource Temp2}" > </converters:MyConverter> <DataTemplate x:Key="Temp1"> <Grid > <Grid> <Grid.Resources> <converters:PanelBackgroundColorConverter x:Name="panelBackgroundColorConverter" Key="{Binding}"/> <Grid.Resources/> <Grid.Background> <Binding Path="MPath" Converter="{StaticResource panelBackgroundColorConverter}" ConverterParameter="sym"/> </Grid.Background> <Grid/> <DataTemplate/>

  • CakePHP: How can I change this find call to include all records that do not exist in the associated

    - by Stephen
    I have a few tables with the following relationships: Company hasMany Jobs, Employees, and Trucks, Users I've got all my foreign keys set up properly, along with the tables' Models, Controllers, and Views. Originally, the Jobs table had a boolean field called "assigned". The following find operation (from the JobsController) successfully returns all employees, all trucks, and any jobs that are not assigned and fall on a certain day for a single company (without returning users by utilizing the containable behavior): $this->set('resources', $this->Job->Company->find('first', array( 'conditions' => array( 'Company.id' => $company_id ), 'contain' => array( 'Employee', 'Truck', 'Job' => array( 'conditions' => array( 'Job.assigned' => false, 'Job.pickup_date' => date('Y-m-d', strtotime('Today')); ) ) ) ))); Now, since writing this code, I decided to do a lot more with the job assignments. So I've created a new model "Assignment" that belongsTo Truck and belongsTo Job. I've added the hasMany Assignments to both the Truck model and the Jobs Model. I have both foreign keys in the assignments table, along with some other assignment fields. Now, I'm trying to get the same information above, only instead of checking the assigned field from the job table, I want to check the assignments table to ensure that the job does not exist there. I can no longer use the containable behavior if I'm going to use the "joins" feature of the find method due to mysql errors (according to the cookbook). But, the following query returns all jobs, even if they fall on different days. $this->set('resources', $this->Job->Company->find('first', array( 'joins' => array( array( 'table' => 'employees', 'alias' => 'Employee', 'type' => 'LEFT', 'conditions' => array( 'Company.id = Employee.company_id' ) ), array( 'table' => 'trucks', 'alias' => 'Truck', 'type' => 'LEFT', 'conditions' => array( 'Company.id = Truck.company_id' ) ), array( 'table' => 'jobs', 'alias' => 'Job', 'type' => 'LEFT', 'conditions' => array( 'Company.id = Job.company_id' ) ), array( 'table' => 'assignments', 'alias' => 'Assignment', 'type' => 'LEFT', 'conditions' => array( 'Job.id = Assignment.job_id' ) ) ), 'conditions' => array( 'Job.pickup_date' => $day, 'Company.id' => $company_id, 'Assignment.job_id IS NULL' ) )));

  • Can 'locals' be used with 'collection' when rendering partials in Rails?

    - by Gav
Everything works okay when I try to render a partial like this: = render :partial => "/shared/enquiry/car_type", :collection => @enquiry.available_car_types However, if I also want to pass a variable (in this case 'path', because I'm sharing this partial across two forms), the path is not available to me: = render :partial => "/shared/enquiry/car_type", :collection => @enquiry.available_car_types, :locals => {:path => customers_enquiry_path} I've tried moving things around, but nothing appears to work, leading me to believe one cannot use locals with collections. Any help would be appreciated. Gav

  • How to inject ServletContext for JUnit tests with Spring?

    - by Juri Glass
Hi I want to unit test a RESTful interface written with Apache CXF. I use a ServletContext to load some resources, so I have: @Context private ServletContext servletContext; If I deploy this on Glassfish, the ServletContext is injected and it works like expected. But I don't know how to inject the ServletContext in my service class, so that I can test it with a JUnit test. I use Spring 3.0, JUnit 4, CXF 2.2.3 and Maven.
