  • How do I automate navigation to a website that requires authentication?

    Here's what I'm trying to achieve. I would like to write a script that will navigate to a website that requires me to be authenticated as myself, say Facebook, Live Spaces, Twitter or any other, and then have that script search for certain information on one of the pages of the website. I've done something similar in the past with the Windows.Forms WebBrowser control, which is a full blown implementation of IE that can be controlled through code and will store whatever cookies you get once you're authenticated, but it was very unfriendly to modify and I was hoping to use a scripting language instead, maybe Powershell or something of that sort. Are there maybe some good tutorials about this out there on the web? Thanks!

  • Silverlight authentication during startup - how to mimic syncronous behavior?

    I have a Silverlight app that is using the MVVM pattern. I have a WCF service which will allow me to authenticate users (I don't have direct control over that service - assume it is a black box that just returns me the user info and a list of privileges the user has). So, when the app starts up, I want to pull security data from that service. Right now, when I do this, my views and view models can end up getting initialized before the service returns with the security data. This causes problems because the view models need to disable buttons and make things visible/invisible based on the user having certain privileges. Is there a pattern that allows me to prevent the initialization of the views / view models until the WCF call has returned? How would you go about solving this problem as elegantly as possible?

  • How do I fix this JBoss EJB client authentication issue?

    I have an EJB deployed under JBoss (we're moving a project to it from Weblogic), I can get an EJBHome reference to the EJB via a JNDI lookup. The login-config.xml is set to use the module org.jboss.security.auth.spi.BaseCertLoginModule. When my client code tries to invoke the create method via reflection, calling invoke, I get an InvocationException which wraps an AccessException, which wraps a final exception of javax.security.auth.login.FailedLoginException: Password Incorrect/Password Required at org.jboss.security.auth.spi.UsernamePasswordLoginModule.login(UsernamePasswordLoginModule.java:213).... Am I missing some client code to use BaseCertLoginModule instead of UsernamePasswordLoginModule? Thanks in advance, any suggestions appreciated, apologies for not posting the entire stacktrace but it's on a secured network without internet access.

  • What are some best practices for structuring cherrypy apps?

    I'm writing a cherrypy app and I was wondering what the best way is for structuring my handlers and code for larger applications? I realize assignment is simple trough cherrypy.root, but what are some practices for writing the handlers and assigning them? (Allow me to prove my confusion!) My initial thought is to write a standard handler class that infers a template to run based on the current URL or class/method combination. Then I would assign one instance of that handler multiple times to the path to create pages. I don't see this working however as the recursive references wouldn't work quite right. So, given the fact that I'm already drawing blanks on how my own source code should look, I'd love some pointers and examples! Feel free to ask some detailed questions for me to clarify. While there is plenty of cherrypy tutorial material out there, it tends to only scratch the surface.

Receiving Emails: How would an application receive email, for instance; to generate support tickets or assign comments in an email to a project/task. I have seen ID's within the subject and some reply to addresses containing the account name eg: [email protected] I realise one can programatically connect to a pop3 server and receive emails and look for the IDs with the subject, but is there a way of setting up and receiving email to a single pop3 account from multiple sub-host name email addresses (not sure on terminology there) eg: [email protected] or [email protected] and check the Account Name from the address? (similar to checking subdomains on a URL) Any practices, experience, comments or sughestions? (not sure its relevant, but using C# asp.net-mvc and services etc)

This command: $ script/plugin install git://github.com/rails/open_id_authentication.git installs the plugin, but I don't see any OpenID Rake tasks (rake -T). In particular, I can no longer run the task: $ rake open_id_authentication:db:create With previous applications, the Rake tasks were installed without a problem, so what's changed with the plugin? Which version of the plugin do I need to get the behavior I'm looking for? Using Rails 2.3.5.

    Is it possible to detect all the hotkeys registered by the OS as well as software applications currently running? Any native or managed approach on the Windows platform? I know that the RegisterHotKey function returns false if the hotkey is already registered, but what I am looking for is an approach, method, etc. that will give me a list of registered hotkeys. Looping all possible combinations with RegisterHotKey does not sound like a good idea. Anything more efficient?

    When I run this SQl in my mobile app I get zero rows. select * from inventory WHERE [ITEMNUM] LIKE 'PUMP%' AND [LOCATION] = 'GARAGE' When I run the same SQL in Query Analyzer 3.5 using the same database I get my expected one row. Why the difference? So my code looks like this: SqlCeConnection conn = new SqlCeConnection("Data Source=" + filePath + ";Persist Security Info=False;"); DataTable tmpTable = new DataTable(); SqlCeDataAdapter AD = new SqlCeDataAdapter(Query, conn); AD.Fill(tmpTable); The issue appears to be with the SqlCeDataReader.   • What happens when several Java servlet apps running on the same port ?

    Something strange happened to my servlets and I think I've figured out why, yet I'm more confused. I used Netbean6.7 to develop a Paypal IPN (Instant Payment Notification) message servlet, it listens on port 8080 by default for Paypal IPN messages. I used some sample Java code from it's web site, but when it ran, only about 1 in 10 messages came through, and they looked correct, but why 1 in 10 ? Not 100% or none ? So I asked some questions here and got some advices, one in particular points me to Google's App Engine, so I downloaded it and ran the demo guestbook while my IPN servlet is still running on Netbeans, the strange thing happened, after I entered "appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2\bin\dev_appserver.cmd appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2\demos\guestbook\war" from the command prompt, I went to the following url on my browser "http://localhost:8080/", I thought I would see the Google demo guestbook page, NO, what I saw was another servlet I developed 2 years ago : "Web Academy", online course registration app. How can that happen ? I never started it, and I haven't touch that project for years. I guess because it's also listening on port 8080, so now I understand why the IPN messages only came through 1 in 10 times, because another servlet was also listening on that port and could have got the messages intended for IPN, or some how those two servlets' processes mixed up and therefore couldn't respond to Paypal properly, and failed. In order to verify some of my guesses, I turn off Netbeans, and ran the Google guestbook again at the prompt, this time on my browser http://localhost:8080/ points to the demo guestbook page. My Urls look like this : [A] Paypal IPN : http://localhost:8080/PayPal_App/PayPal_Servlet [B] Web Academy : http://localhost:8080/ So now, my questions are : <1> Why the "Web Academy" servlet was auto started when I ran the Paypal servlet ? <2> If I change the IPN listening port to 8083, would that mean I can run both of them on my PC at the same time without affecting each other ? <3> But I still don't understand, [A] and [B] look different, if a page for [A] is refreshed, it should show the Paypal content, and another page looking at [B] should show the Web Academy content, and that's exactly what happens when I started Netbeans to run the Paypal servlet, both pages show their respective content correctly side by side without interfering with each other, how come the IPN messages couldn't get through 100% of the time ? <4> In Netbeans how to assign 8080 to servlet [A] and assign port 8083 to servlet [B] ? <5> How to turn off auto start of Web Academy by Netbeans ?

Local : OSX 10.5 - red5 0.63 Server: CentOS 5 - red5 0.90 Maybe its because of the version difference... but I can't test red5 0.90 locally becaus it won't start up -.-' and I can't install the 0.63 on the server because of missing dependencies (and broken links to them...)

I heard that some teams (developers) use 'pre-configured' tomcat. As I understand they add different jars to tomcat \lib folder and do something else. Once I've read something about recompilation (or reassembly?) of tomcat for certain needs. Just yesterday I heard a dialog where one developer sayd that his team-mates were not able to deploy the project until he would give them configured tomcat version. So, I wonder, what is it all about and why do they do it? What benefits can they gain from that?

    Hi, I'm creating an iPhone project, and will be communicating with a server via REST. I will be sending push notifications, initiated from another service. I would like to authenticate all communication from the iPhone to my server (e.g., synchronising notifications with the server as the push request is not guaranteed to go through) 2 legged Oauth seems to be the ideal solution, however there is not a lot of information regarding it, especially as most of the libraries seem to be oriented towards consumers and not providers. What library should I use? Is Oauth overkill? If so what do you recommend? I'm looking for the simplest possible solution at the moment; If it is going to take me more than a week to implement Oauth, it's simply not worth it. Thanks

  • Distributing WPF apps to a legacy user base: How seamless is it?

    I'm considering developing a WPF application, to be hosted by a legacy Windows app (C++), and I'm trying to get a better sense of how feasible it'll be to do so, given the broad user base I'm targeting. Knowing WPF targets .NET 3.5, I'm looking for some insight as to what the field looks like right now -- who's already got the runtime, whether it's distributed by Windows Update, if so, how (e.g., as an optional or required download, to which operating systems, etc.), whether XP pre-XP2 supports it (and how), and so on. The current version's got many thousands of users, using all manner of Windows operating systems, and while I'd very much like to leverage WPF to breathe some life into their user experience, I want to make sure I'm not shutting anyone out by doing so, or burdening them with a download they might have to do manually. I realize most, or all, of this information's out there already, in various places, but I figured I'd ask here first, since I'm sure some of you've probably already gone down this road and have valuable experiences to share.   • Spring Security and the Synchronizer Token J2EE pattern, problem when authentication fails.

    Hey, we are using Spring Security 2.0.4. We have a TransactionTokenBean which generates a unique token each POST, the bean is session scoped. The token is used for the duplicate form submission problem (and security). The TransactionTokenBean is called from a Servlet filter. Our problem is the following, after a session timeout occured, when you do a POST in the application Spring Security redirects to the logon page, saving the original request. After logging on again the TransactionTokenBean is created again, since it is session scoped, but then Spring forwards to the originally accessed url, also sending the token that was generated at that time. Since the TransactionTokenBean is created again, the tokens do not match and our filter throws an Exception. I don't quite know how to handle this elegantly, (or for that matter, I can't even fix it with a hack), any ideas?   • Using java.util.regex in Android apps - are there issues with this?

    In an Android app I have a utility class that I use to parse strings for 2 regEx's. I compile the 2 patterns in a static initializer so they only get compiled once, then activities can use the parsing methods statically. This works fine except that the first time the class is accessed and loaded, and the static initializer compiles the pattern, the UI hangs for close to a MINUTE while it compiles the pattern! After the first time, it flies on all subsequent calls to parseString(). My regEx that I am using is rather large - 847 characters, but in a normal java webapp this is lightning fast. I am testing this so far only in the emulator with a 1.5 AVD.     As par my app requirement, there is a couple of scenarios that I need to handle. Scenario 1: To avoid piracy, I want to include some piece of code, whose job is sending both IMEI and Serial number of IPhone. Scenario 2: At server side, I've a database, which has a list of both IMEI and Serial No info. Here I wanna validate both IMEI and Serial numbers. If both are not matched then I can make sure that the app is pirated. Idea seems good. But I don't know how to handle these two scenarios in my app. Any help is greatly appreciated.
