• Data validation between SQL replicated tables

  Hi All, I am trying to figure out a way to validate the data in my publisher and subscriber in SQL 2005 replication. I thought of using sp_publication_validation, but it needs db_owner permission and we are not allowed to have it in our company. So I did bit more reading and found out about two other SPs that I think work for me. First one is sp_article_validation, which I plan to run on the publisher. For each article that I call this SP, its gonna give the row count and a checksum. With that info, I intend to call sp_table_validation on the subscriber, passing the row count and checksum from the previous SP, there by validating both tables. What do you guys think? Is this a proven way to validate data in replication? There is very little documentation on these SPs.   hi, how can I assign a column name to the SUM column ? i.e. select OwnerUserId, SUM(PostScore) INTO Experts from ... I get this error: An object or column name is missing or empty. For SELECT INTO statements, verify each column has a name. For other statements, look for empty alias names. Aliases defined as "" or [] are not allowed. Change the alias to a valid name. I guess because the column containing the results of SUM has not name. thanks

• Settings cell selected background view removes backgroundview

• C++ and virtual methods overriding

• Controlled hyperlink hijaxing

  I am working on a web application. I have a data grid with a 'commands' column that has hyperlinks for some common CRUD operations (Edit, Delete, etc). When a user clicks on say the Edit hyperlink, I retrieve the unique identifier for the data grid row and load a modal form dialog (i am using jQuery UI) so the user is able to edit the row data and subsequently close the modal form dialog at which point I refresh the page. Now, before the page is done refreshing, there's a chance that a user might click on the edit link again, and whenever that happens, 'hijaxing' fails. My question is how can i check that if a user clicks on a hyperlink and the page is refreshing, i delay until it is done refreshing, then i allow the 'hijax' to kick in.

• Can't add an object using EF and SQL Compact

  Hello, I have some very simple SQL Compact database. I would like to use Entity Framework to access the database but for some reason I can't add an object to this database using EF.   I am trying to write a PHP-MySQL database processor that is somewhat intelligent. When this processor decides it needs to make an update, I want to report if it was really successful or not. I thought I could use mysql_affected_rows... // Example: // After running query "UPDATE mytable SET name='Test' WHERE ID=1" $result = mysql_affected_rows(); if ($result >= 1) { /* Success */ } If, for example, there was no row with ID=1, then $result would be 0. However, it turns out that PHP's mysql_affected_rows is the actual affected rows, and may be still be 0 if the row exists but name was already "Test". (The PHP docs even say this is the case). If I run this in the command line, I get the following meta information about the query: Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.01 sec) Rows matched: 1 Changed: 0 Warnings: 0 Is there any way for me to get that "Rows matched" value in PHP instead of the affected rows?

• why does InnoDB keep on growing without for every update?

  I have a table which consists of heavy blobs, and I wanted to conduct some tests on it. I know deleted space is not reclaimed by innodb, so I decided to reuse existing records by updating its own values instead of createing new records. But I noticed, whether I delete and insert a new entry, or I do UPDATE on existing ROW, InnoDB keeps on growing. Assuming I have 100 Rows, each Storing 500KB of information, My InnoDB size is 10MB, now when I call UPDATE on all rows (no insert/ no delete), the innodb grows by ~8MB for every run I do. All I am doing is I am storing exactly 500KB of data in each row, with little modification, and size of blob is fixed. What can I do to prevent this? I know about optimize table, but I cant do it because on regular usage, the table is going to be 60-100GB big, and running optimize will just stall entire server.

  I have a table with 4 columns, and I need to check to see if a Column Pair exists before inserting a row into the database: INSERT INTO dbo.tblCallReport_Detail (fkCallReport, fkProductCategory, Discussion, Action) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?) The pair in question is fkCallReport and fkProductCategory. For example if the row trying to be inserted has fkCallReport = 3 and fkProductCategory = 5, and the database already has both of those values together, it should display an error and ask if they would like to combine the Disuccsion and Action with the current record. Keep in mind I'm doing this in VBA Access 2010 and am still very new.

  I have a page, lets call it SourceTypes.aspx, that has a a GridView that is displaying a list of Source Types. Part of the GridView is a DataKey, SourceTypeID. If source TypeID is passed to the page via a query sting, how to I put the Gridview into Edit mode for the appropriate row based on the SourceTypeID? The GridView is bound to a SQlDataSource object.   hi I have a page that has two dropdownlists(one for the locations, and the other for departments), an employee search textbox and a button. On the other page, I have a gridview. Now, what i want to archieve is that when a user types an employee's name in the textbox control, selects a location from the location dropdownlist, and a department from the departments dropdownlist, and click the button(search), the gridview on the other page must show the reqiured information of a SINGLE employee. Only one row must show. I have created a database for the employees. I know how to do this with the autopostback but i have not tried it using a button's click.   Hello, I need to catch the "OnMouseEnter" and "0nMouseLeave" for a certain area of the TPageControl component. With that specific area I mean the whole "tab header" rectangle. The problem is, that the page control doesn't catch the messages (I'm catching internal control messages CM_MOUSEENTER and CM_MOUSELEAVE) in the "empty" space. The aim for me is to draw a small arrow in the right empty side when user hovers in the red framed area (and drawing is just piece of cake) and erase it when leaves this area. And I'm don't care about the overflow of the tabs (which causes to draw scrolling double button) - that will never happen.

• ActiveRecord find all parents that have associated children

  I don't know why I can't figure this out, I think it should be fairly simple. I have two models (see below). I'm trying to come up with a named scope for SupplierCategory that would find all SupplierCategory(s) (including :suppliers) who's associated Supplier(s) are not empty. I tried a straight up join, named_scope :with_suppliers, :joins => :suppliers which gives me only categories with suppliers, but it gives me each category listed separately, so if a category has 2 suppliers, i get the category twice in the returned array: Currently I'm using: named_scope :with_suppliers, :include => :suppliers and then in my view I'm using: <%= render :partial => 'category', :collection => @categories.find_all{|c| !c.suppliers.empty? } %> Not exactly eloquent but illustrates what I'm trying to achieve. • Finding the specific type held in an ArrayList<Object> (ie. Object = String, etc.)

  Say I have an ArrayList that I have cast to an ArrayList of objects. I know that all the objects that were in the ArrayList I cast were of the same type, but not what the type was. Now, if the ArrayList is not empty, I could take one of the objects in it and use the instanceof operator to learn what the actual type is. But what of the case where the ArrayList is empty? How do I determine what type Object actually is then? Is it possible?
