  • How can I disable DNSSC for Google Apps (GMail) MX records on my authoritative domains?

    I'm running a BIND Master / Slave setup with DNSSEC, but some of my domains use Google Apps for e-mail services. Google doesn't support DNSSEC and BIND doesn't like it at all.   • How to accept email *only* from white-listed addresses in Gmail? [migrated]

    I only want to accpet email from two addresses, the rest I want to delete immediately, unseen. I know how to make fileers and I can whitelist those two addresses. If I make 3 filter, in this order; 1) from [email protected] move to inbox, never mark as spam 2) from [email protected] move to inbox, never mark as spam 3) from *@*.* delete immediately, never move to trash can I be guaranteed that that will do what I want? For instance, can I be sure that the filters are executed in that order? I dont want to lose amy mail from those two adresses.

  • GMail Phone dialer - shortcut key for pushing the hash or pound key?

    I use the GMall 'Call phone' feature a lot, and the numeric keyboard pad works great for entering conference codes, but most conference call services want you "Enter your conference code followed by the 'hash' or 'pound' sign. So I end up typing the 10 digit conference code using the keyboard but then I have to use my mouse to push the # or hash sign. Is their a way to push the # with the keyboard?

    With a Gmail [email protected] address, you'll also receive email sent to [email protected] addresses, very handy for creating filters. I often [email protected] when signing up to websites, so if I end up getting lots of spam sent to that address, I know who to blame. But what's a good way to find a list of all username+anything@ addresses in my Gmail spam folder? I'd prefer to do this within the web client if possible. Next best is using external client such as Outlook or Opera mail but without having to download lots of mail if possible. I don't really want to download spam emails.

    I've switched my main domain to point the MX to Google Apps, and my actual domain's server with the lowest MX priority. My idea is to have my primary emails on Google Apps, where the secondary are via Cpanel. Is this even possible? Currently MX records read: 0 Google 4 Google 4 Google 9 Google 9 Google 10 My server I have [email protected] which is added in G. Apps, and [email protected] which is only added in cpanel. Is there anyway to get this to work?

  • Send an E-mail Quickly with the GmailThis! Bookmarklet

    Sometimes you need to send out a quick e-mail for a project that you are working on, something really important that you just remembered, or perhaps just a note to yourself. If you use Gmail and like keeping things simple then join us as we look at the GmailThis! Bookmarklet. GmailThis! in Action To get set up all that you need to do is visit the webpage (link provided below) and drag the bookmarklet to your “Bookmarks Toolbar”. For our example we decided to go with the “personal note” approach. As you can see here we selected/highlighted a portion of the text and then clicked on our new bookmarklet. The bookmarklet will automatically copy and paste the name of the webpage, the URL, and any text that you selected/highlighted into the new e-mail. A nice feature that we liked was that it opened in a new temporary window to help focus on composing our letter. This is what you will see when you have finished your letter and clicked “Send”. The window will automatically close itself after a few seconds so that you do not even have to worry with it afterwards. Looking at our “Inbox” there is our new e-mail looking oh so nice. Conclusion If you need to send out a quick e-mail using your Gmail account then this bookmarklet makes it as quick and simple as possible.   • dovecot main process terminated with status 89

    I'm trying to configure dovecot/imap to run without SSL. I set ssl = no in 10-ssl.conf in /etc/dovecot/conf.d. However, with this setting, dovecot dies right away when it is started. I checked the log file and found the following: dovecot main process (4895) terminated with status 89 What does it mean? Is there a way for dovecot to run without ssl? The reason I do NOT want ssl is that my outlook complains the certificate cannot be verified. It is really annoying. And I only run the server on a very small lan and don't need that extra security.

Currently, I get the atom feed and then get as many emails as the feed has with the OpenPOP client (starting from the first).     I have a client who wants his custom-written CRM to be able to access his sales people's emails so that, effectively, a history of email conversations between customer and salesperson is stored inside the CRM's database. The CRM is written in VB 2008 and the database is SQL Server 2008. The only email these people use, in the shop and on the road, is GMAIL. Each sales person has their own GMAIL address. Thats how they operate. If they're on the road and respond to a customer's email inquiry about a product, they would like that email conversation to be stored in a table in the database. I think thats the part I cant wrap my head around. How to get access to the email data (knowing the user id and password) and doing so from VB 2008

  • How can I log into gmail in a script/program using HTTPS?

    My teacher has given me as an assignment to log into gmail and then send one e-mail or read the list of unread e-mails, but I can't use IMAP/POP3/SMTP or anything that isn't HTTP or HTTPS. I've tried looking for libraries in Ruby/Java to do it but nothing really worked for me. I tried looking at the gmail source code page but I couldn't really understand what was going on. The page seems to call a post method on a link, but sniffing the packets what I saw was a GET apparently using a session generated using the info I send. So sending it "raw" didn't work either. I've no idea what to do now.

    I'm new to the IMAP protocol and Zend_Mail_Storage and I'm writing a small php script for a cron job that should regularly poll an IMAP account and check for new messages, and send an e-mail if new messages have arrived. As you can imagine, I want to only poll the IMAP account for relevant messages, and I only want to send a new e-mail if new messages have arrived since the last polled new message. So I thought of keeping track of the last message I polled with some unique identifier for a message. But I'm a bit uncertain about whether the methods I want to utilize for this do what I expect them to do though. So my questions are: Does the iterator position of Zend_Mail_Storage_Imap actually resemble some IMAP unique identifier for messages, or is it simply only and internal position of Zend_Mail_Storage_Abstract? For instance, if I tell it to seek() to message 5 (which I stored from an earlier session) will it indeed seek to the appropriate message on the IMAP server, even if for instance messages have been deleted since last session? Would keeping track of this latest polled message id in a file suffice for a cron job that, say, polls the account every 5 or 10 minutes? Or is this too naive, and should I be using a database for instance. Or is there maybe a much easier way to keep track of such state with Zend_Mail_Storage_Abstract? Also, do I need to poll every IMAP folder? Or is everything accumulated when I poll INBOX? If you could shed some light on any of these matters, I'ld appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Does this technology already exist in an open source project somewhere?   • Thunderbird: Synchronize tags

    When I check my mail (via IMAP) on my laptop I'd like to see the same tags that I set when I checked my mail on my office computer. So the question is: Is it possible to synchronize user-specified mail tags between Thunderbird running on different computers? I've read that tags could be stored via IMAP on the server, so maybe it's just that the server of my mail provider does not support this IMAP feature? (Whichever it is...) Has anybody any experience with this? Related, but not my primary concern: Will there ever be a more flexible tagging system in Thunderbird which allows for an easier definition of new tags? (I.e. that a don't have to define new tags in the preferences menu, but can just type them in when reading a mail?)

  • Thunderbird message sorting - wrong dates

    Thunderbird 3 is having a problem with one of my IMAP accounts. When sorted by date, it displays 10-15 messages at the top (newest) when in fact they are very old message. (pre-2010, over a year old, some up to 6-7 years old) It's not game-breaking, but it is annoying, as I have to look past those to check for "new" messages. Is there any way to fix this? I'd considered re-downloading all the messages via IMAP, but that would take weeks (50,000 messages). When I open it, it displays the correct date, also when I use "View Source" the Date: header has the correct date (2009, 2006, etc). Is there any way to make Thunderbird realize that it should be sorted down with the rest of the 2006/2009 messages? None of my other IMAP accounts (many with the same host server) have this issue.

  • How do I enable subfolders in Dovecot?

    In the past I was able to drag and drop my folder with subfolders (local emails) into my imap accounts inside Thunderbird. Now I moved to my own vps and its running Dovecot. So far so good with emails. Today I wanted to copy some folders with messages again but I realized that it does not let me copy to folders. I can drag and drop individual emails into some folders in Imap however folders stuff does not work. I am not sure what this feature is called. The previous email servers might be using some other imap server so I am really not sure what it might be even called. Is this a Dovecot or Thundenbird thing? If it is a Dovecot feature how I enable it on my server? Dovecot is running on Debian Wheezy 64 bit vps thanks
