• Moving data files failing

  Trying to migrate data from C: to D: via the SBS console is failing. The wizard starts running but drops out in the first few seconds. I'll post the full logs, but the important lines appear to be as follows: An exception of type 'Type: System.IO.FileNotFoundException, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' has occurred. • Python equivalent of IDL's stop and .reset

  Hi there, I'm relatively new to python but have a bit of experience using IDL. I was wondering if anyone knows if there are equivalent commands in python for IDL's stop and .reset commands. If I'm running some IDL script I wrote that I put a stop command in, essentially what it does is stop the script there and give me access to the command line in the middle of the script. So I have access to all the functions and variables that I defined before the stop command, which I find really useful for debugging. The .reset command I find extremely useful too. What it does is reset the the IDL environment (clears all variables, functions, etc.). It's as if I closed that session and opened a new one, but without having to exit and restart IDL. I find that if I'm trying to debug a script I wrote it's useful sometimes to start from scratch and not have to reset IDL (or python now). It would be useful also in python to be able to un-import any modules I had previously imported. Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated. • ws-xmlrpc claims error on part of service but other clients work fine

  I've been trying to connect to an rTorrent instance using ws-xmlrpc and it just isn't going too well. Now, the URL I'm using is the same that I've been using when making sure that rTorrent's XMLRPC support is fine (which it appears to be since both a native OS X application and a small python script I threw together appear to be able to talk to it just fine without any errors). However, when I try using ws-xmlrpc to connect I get org.apache.xmlrpc.XmlRpcException: Failed to create input stream: Unexpected end of file from serverat the top of my stack trace followed by a bunch of steps down to: java.net.SocketException: Unexpected end of file from server at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.parseHTTPHeader(HttpClient.java:769) ... So basically, it seems that ws-xmlrpc is convinced that the reply from rTorrent is malformed somehow but other libraries apparently have no problem with it. The code I use to call rTorrent is: private Object callRTorrent(String command, Object[] params) { Object result = null; try { // xmlrpcclient is an XmlRpcClient object and is instantied in // the class constructor result = xmlrpcclient.execute(command, params); } catch(XmlRpcException xre) { System.out.println("Unable to execute method "+command); xre.printStackTrace(); } return result; } With command set to system.listMethodsand params set to an empty Object[]. From reading documentation and googling my conclusion is that I'm not doing anything obviously wrong and this problem doesn't appear to be common, so does anyone have a clue what's going on here?

  Hi, i have an big problem with an SQL Statement in Oracle. I want to select The TOP 10 Records ordered by STORAGE_DB wich arent in a list from an other select statement. This one works fine for all records: SELECT DISTINCT APP_ID, NAME, STORAGE_GB, HISTORY_CREATED, TO_CHAR(HISTORY_DATE, 'DD.MM.YYYY') AS HISTORY_DATE FROM HISTORY WHERE STORAGE_GB IS NOT NULL AND APP_ID NOT IN (SELECT APP_ID FROM HISTORY WHERE TO_CHAR(HISTORY_DATE, 'DD.MM.YYYY') = '06.02.2009') But when i am adding AND ROWNUM <= 10 ORDER BY STORAGE_GB DESC im getting some kind of "random" Records. I think because the limit takes in place before the order. Does someone has an good solution? The other problem: This query is realy slow (10k+ records)

• Ajax and Brower Navigation for Back/Forward

  I am using a ASP.net form with custom onclick mouse events to modify data values. Upon clicking and updating the values, one div section of the form performs a postback. onclick="__doPostBack('ctl01$phCon1$gridReports','sel1')" This is working well, however when the browser BACK option is selected, the browser opens goes through the history of the DIV ajax/onclick actions prior to going back to the prior URL. I suspect that this may be due to the doPostBack being treated as a browsing operation.   Hi experts, I am developing an desktop based application using VB.NET, similar to add/remove program. everything was working fine until i start working on uninstall feature. Now what am i doing is that i get the uninstall string of the specific application from the registry and use System.Diagnostics.Process to run UninstallString. Dim proc As New Process() proc.StartInfo.FileName =UninstallString proc.Start() proc.WaitForExit() proc.Close() latter i found that it only work for straight file paths only, i mean with no command line argument like: C:\program files\someApp\uninstall.exe I make a list of list of all UninstallStrings of all application installed on my machine. i found few things like application installed using MSI, some were with rundll32 and few were with straight file path with some command argument like: My Silverlight SDK UninstallString, MSI Example MsiExec.exe /X{2012098D-EEE9-4769-8DD3-B038050854D4} My JetAudio UninstallString, RunDll32 Example RunDll32 C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\engine\6\INTEL3~1\Ctor.dll,LaunchSetup "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information{91F34319-08DE-457A-99C0-0BCDFAC145B9}\Setup.exe" -l0x9 My Google Chrome UninstallString, straight file path with command argument example "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\5.0.375.55\Installer\setup.exe" -uninstall The code i mentioned above does not work for these. i did some string parsing, separate two thing from UninstallString one is Filename and other is Arguments. like for MSI, filename is MSIEXEC.EXE and argument will be rest of the string, same for RunDLL32, same for straight file path with command argument. Now what am i facing is that, after every 2 or 3 days i come to know that this type of unistallstring is also not working. and why is that not working because it is a new type maybe abc C:\program files\someapp.exe -ddd so parse it too. is there any better way of doing that rather then parsing the string.

• Java JEditorPane Format

  im trying to implement a Chat feature in my application. i have used 2 JEditorPane. one for holding chat history and the other for sending chat to the previous JEditorPane. the JEditorPane is text/html type. the problem i am having is when i put more than one space between characters it is automatically removed by the parser because it is HTML! how can i make it so, that the spaces are not stripped? example: hello world becomes: hello world. also i am having to parse the html tags so the new messages can be added to the history window. is there a better option than using JEditorPane? if i used JTextPane would it be easier to implement? i would like the chat boxes/panes to be able to handle bold, URL embedding for now. thank you and look forward to your guidance.

  hi, I have a .zip file (It contains multiple files, ex: file1.txt file2.txt file3.txt.. n so on) in a directory. And my query is: How to extract the files from .zip archive to the very same directory and how to create the list of all the files extracted from .zip archive.** The extracted file name should be printed like this in the file named: file_list: file1.txt file2.txt file3.txt filen.txt I have tried the following command assuming that my .zip file name is "data.zip". unzip -qoj data.zip | unzip -ql data.zip > file_list I have used unzip -qoj data.zip to extract all the files in the same directory(quietly,overwrite,junk_path). When I try to insert -l with the first unzip command then the command doesn't extract the file in the current and only files are listed thats why I have to used unzip again after the first pipe(If I am making a mistake here let me know please). • Exclude string from wildcard in bash

  Hi, I'm trying to adapt a bash script from "Sams' Teach Yourself Linux in 24 Hours" which is a safe delete command called rmv. The files are removed by calling rmv -d file1 file2 etc. In the original script a max of 4 files can by removed using the variables $1 $2 $3 $4. I want to extend this to an unlimited number of files by using a wildcard. So I do: for i in $* do mv $i $HOME/.trash done The files are deleted okay but the option -d of the command rmv -d is also treated as an argument and bash objects that it cannot be found. Is there a better way to do this?   I am embedding python in C/C++ program. What I am trying to do is to parse the python script file from the C/C++ program, break the file to "blocks" so that each "block" is an a valid command in python code. Each block I need to put into std::string. What is the best way to do this, is there any Python C/C++ API function that supports this? why i need it - for GUI purpose. My program , which is writen in C, uses python to make some calculations. I run from C code , using python C API , python script and what i need is a way to capture python's output in my program. I catch it and evrything is ok, the problem is when the script involves user input. What happens is that i capture python's output after the script is finished , therefore, when there is an input command in the script i get a black screen .... i need to get all the printings before the input command. The first solution i tried is to parss the script to valid commands and run each comand, one after the other , seperatly .... for this i need to pars the script and deside what is a command and what is not ... The question is : what is the best way to do this and if there is somthing that allready does ?

In my dev environment, where speedy deployments are a bit more important for productivity than a production deployment, I have been working on speeding up the process. I have a bash script that has been working decently but has some limitations. I fire up multiple 'svn updates' with the following bash command: (svn update /repo1) & (svn update /repo2) & (svn update /repo3) & These all run in parallel and it works pretty well. I also use this pattern in the rest of the build script for firing off each ant build, then moving the wars to Tomcat. However, I have no control over stopping deployment if one of the updates or a build fails. I'm re-writing my bash script with Python so I have more control over branches and the deployment process. I am using subprocess.call() to fire off the 'svn update /repo' commands, but each one is acting sequentially. I try '(svn update /repo) &' and those all fire off, but the result code returns immediately. So I have no way to determine if a particular command fails or not in the asynchronous mode. import subprocess subprocess.call( 'svn update /repo1', shell=True ) subprocess.call( 'svn update /repo2', shell=True ) subprocess.call( 'svn update /repo3', shell=True ) I'd love to find a way to have Python fire off each Unix command, and if any of the calls fails at any time the entire script stops.

• How to stop tcpdump remotely using expect from a new telnet session

  I am trying to stop the tcpdump command from running on a remote terminal. If I telnet to the terminal, start tcpdump, and then send a ^c, tcpdump stops with no issues. However if I telnet to the same terminal, start tcpdump, and then exit the telnet session, when I reconnect to the same telnet session I am unable to stop tcpdump via a ^c. When I do this instead of stopping tcpdump it seems that it just quits the telnet session and tcpdump continues to run on the remote terminal. I provided my script below.   How can I convert this Perl code to Groovy? How to bypass confirmation prompts of an external process? I am trying to convert a Perl script to Groovy. The program is loading/delete maestro (job scheduling) jobs automatically. The problem is the delete command will prompt for confirmation (Y/N) on every single job that it finds. I tried the process execute in groovy but will stop at the prompts. The Perl script is writing bunch of Ys to the stream and print it to the handler( if I understood it correctly) to avoid stopping. I am wondering how to do the same thing in Groovy ? Or any other approach to execute a command and somehow write Y on every confirmation prompt. • NoSQL DB for .Net document-based database (ECM)

  I'm halfway through coding a basic multi-tenant SaaS ECM solution. Each client has it's own instance of the database / datastore, but the .Net app is single instance. The documents are pretty much read only (i.e. an image archive of tiffs or PDFs) I've used MSSQL so far, but then started thinking this might be viable in a NoSQL DB (e.g. MongoDB, CouchDB). The basic premise is that it stores documents, each with their own particular indexes. Each tenant can have multiple document types. e.g. One tenant might have an invoice type, which has Customer ID, Invoice Number and Invoice Date. Another tenant might have an application form, which has Member Number, Application Number, Member Name, and Application Date. So far I've used the old method which Sharepoint (used?) to use, and created a document table which has int_field_1, int_field_2, date_field_1, date_field_2, etc. Then, I've got a "mapping" table which stores the customer specific index name, and the database field that will map to. I've avoided the key-value pair model in the DB due to volume of documents. This way, we can support multiple document types in the one table, and get reasonably high performance out of it, and allow for custom document type searches (i.e. user selects a document type, then they're presented with a list of search fields). However, a NoSQL DB might make this a lot simpler, as I don't need to worry about denormalizing the document. However, I've just got concerns about the rest of the data around a document. We store an "action history" against the document. This tracks views, whether someone emails the document from within the system, and other "future" functionality (e.g. faxing). We have control over the document load process, so we can manipulate the data however it needs to be to get it in the document store (e.g. assign unique IDs). Users will not be adding in their own documents, so we shouldn't need to worry about ACID compliance, as the documents are relatively static. So, my questions I guess : Is a NoSQL DB a good fit Is MongoDB the best for Asp.Net (I saw Raven and Velocity, but they're still kinda beta) Can I store a key for each document, and then store the action history in a MSSQL DB with this key? I don't need to do joins, it would be if a person clicks "View History" against a document. How would performance compare between the two (NoSQL DB vs denormalized "document" table) Volumes would be up to 200,000 new documents per month for a single tenant. My current scaling plan with the SQL DB involves moving the SQL DB into a cluster when certain thresholds are reached, and then reviewing partitioning and indexing structures.

• Will running aspnet_regiis.exe -ir create any problems?

  Hi there. I've asked a question about changing the version of .Net sites in the IIS. If it affects classic asp sites etc (See Does asp.net setting affect classic asp (IIS 6 settings)) And that seems fine. So my follow-up question is, will running this command get me fired? What it does is changing the default value (and all existing?) of the .net version to 2.0. This wont affect any of the .net sites since they're allready versioned to 2.0. The classic asp pages needs to get its app pools updated so its functionoal with 2.0 but may I run into any other troubles? I've tried doing this on a test environment and no sites whet down during the installation period (from the command) but I did not have any classic asp sites or any .net sites running though (which I should test, come to think about it) but may something else break? Is this command doing anything else? We have some very large sites running and we cannot have downtime periods so I need to be 100% sure that this command is safe. Since all sites go down everytime we change a new sites .net version number we need to get this fix live asap. Any good ideas?

Should I have instead one single BORROWING table with a DATE_OF_RETURNING column?

• Git: hide commit messages on remote repo

  Hi, I don't know how to bring my problem on the point so I try to explain it a bit ;-) When working with git on my local maschine I usually commit a lot. For this I use topic branches. Then I merge such a topic branch into a branch called develop which will be pushed to a remote repo. I always merge with --no-ff so their is always a commit for my whole topic. Now I'd like to only push this commit with a specified description what I did on the whole in this branch. I would prefer this because you can look at the commit history on the server and see directly what happend and don't need to read every single commit. And for my local work I would have the full history if I want to reset my branch or something similar. I don't know if their is a way to do this in git but it would be very useful for me so I give it a try to ask you ;-) Best regards, Sebastian

  I am trying to use the unmanaged ImageMagick library in my ASP.NET application from the command line using System.Diagnostics.Process. Basically, users will upload an .eps file to the site, and then I will run the command line command to convert it into .jpg. I get the error "System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: Access is denied". The main between the two servers is that the production is 64-bit and runs Plesk to manage multiple domains. I've tried adding rights asp.net user to the ImageMagick directory. The PS Admin says that in the case of Plesk, it's the same account that I use to access the site in VS using FPE. Does anyone know what I might do in order to allow this process to run on my production server? Thanks, Mike
