    I am using Ruby on Rails 3.0.7 and I would like to use the pluralize method in a my model file in order to properly build custom error messages. For example, I would like to do something like the following: NAME_MIN_LENGHT = 2 # Is 2 but I plan to change that (maybe dynamically... if it is possible) in future development validates :name, :length => { :minimum => NAME_MIN_LENGHT, :too_short => "is too short (minimum is #{pluralize(NAME_MIN_LENGHT, "character")})", }, How can I do that?   • Get String Instead of Source - Xcode Cocoa

    Hello everyone, I have a program that will scan the contents of a website, and display it in a textbox. The problem is that it shows the html source. For example if my html code was: <html> <body> <p>Hello</p> </body> </html> instead of just showing hello, it'll show the code above... How can I get my objective c program to just read the hello, and not the html source.. I was assuming that it was the encoding when reading the website, but I might be possibly wrong.. Shutting down."); resetEvent.Set(); }); And the output windows shows: 6/16/2010 3:24:34 PM: Control+C hit. Shutting down. ^C Is there a way to prevent the control-c character ^C from appearing? It's not a huge deal, but for some reason Ill be fixated on it because I'm anal like that.

    Suppose there is an element in XML data: <abc:xyz:name attr="value"/> I'm trying to read it with XmlReader. The problem is that I get XmlException that says The ‘:’ character, hexadecimal value 0x3A, cannot be included in a name I have already declared "abc" namespace. I have also tried adding "abc:xyz" and "xyz" namespaces. But this doesn't help at all. I could replace some text before parsing but there may be some more elegant solution. So what should I do?     I need all possible permutations of a given string such that no character should remain at the same place as in the input string. Eg. : for input "ask" Output: all possible permutaions like "ksa", "kas"... such that 'a' is not in the 1st position , 's' is not in the 2nd positions and so on... in any permutation. I only need the count of such possible permutations I can do this by generating all permutations and filtering them but I need a very efficient way of doing this. All characters in the string are "UNIQUE" Preferred language C++.

  • iPad Video Playback only delivers audio, not visuals.

    Hi guys, Recently we've developed an iPhone app for an external company, and everything works fine in the app. There is a section where the app pulls video from the client's server, and streams it into the iPhone's MPMoviePlayerController. This works fine on the iPhone and iPodTouch - both the video and the audio show up just great. The problem, however, is that when the app is run on an iPad (using the iPad's iPhone simulator thingo that it does) only the audio plays, and no video can be seen. Does anybody have any suggestions about what may be causing this? I thought perhaps it was the encoding, but then why would this prevent the video from playing on the iPad, and not the iPhone?

  • .NET --- Textbox control - wait till user is done typing

    Greetings all, Is there a built in way to know when a user is done typing into a textbox? (Before hitting tab, Or moving the mouse) I have a database query that occurs on the textchanged event and everything works perfectly. However, I noticed that there is a bit of lag of course because if a user is quickly typing into the textbox the program is busy doing a query for each character. So what I was hoping for was a way to see if the user has finished typing. So if they type "a" and stop then an event fires. However, if they type "all the way" the event fires after the y keyup. I have some ideas floating around my head but I'm sure they aren't the most efficient. Like measuring the time since the last textchange event and if it was than a certain value then it would proceed to run the rest of my procedures. let me know what you think.   • Why acegi (Spring Security) converts password to uppercase before comparing ?

    One of my colleague in QA team reported a bug to me, the bug said that can't change password to lowercase, otherwise login is rejected,using number or uppercase is all fine. The login system was implemented using acegi 1.0 (now called Spring Security). This was a very strange bug,changing password is done by encrypting the user input string into MD5 string, I implemented this without using anything related acegi, I don't if the is the origin cause of the problem. When the login is rejected, through debugging, I find that, the user input is converted into uppercase by acegi when passing to the acegi comparing logic. At first, I didn't believe this, when I checkout the acegi source and debugging with it, I find it does convert both username and password to uppercase (source code line 121), Can you tell me why it does this? This can cause password encoding mismatch!

  • Integer output in Java method not same as pre-converted char value.

    I'm trying to parse a simple text file in an integer method and then output an integer from such file so that other parts of the program can use it. For testing purposes it also displays the character value (9 in this case). The integer value for some reason is 57. I've also tried it with another part of the text file (which in that case should be 5, but is instead 53). After looking at an ASCII chart, I see that 57 is the ASCII version of the "symbol" 9 and that 53 is the ASCII version of the "symbol" 5. Is there any simple way I can fix this? I'm getting kind of frustrated as I'm a Java newbie (I've mostly only used FreePascal before this).

    Hello, How to set the values for filter is explained here link text. I have two requirements. 1. the default value needs to be empty. I expect, if defaultValue is not set, the filter is empty, but that is not happening in my case. The first value is 2. How to escape ':' in my value. The character ':' and ';' are used to seperate the index and values. But, in my value string it contains a ':' (eg: searchoptions:{value:"1:'Level: 1'"} , where Level: 1 is my first value). How to escape : in the value part. I tried \ , / etc. thanks.

    Does anyone know of a jquery plugin or snippet that will auto-text-align cells in a table based on content? Specifically, all table cells would be right justified unless there is a visible non-number related character in the cell, then it would be left justified. I'd like to use something like this regular expression to identify non-number related characters in a cell: /[^0-9% +-()]/ Is there a real simple way to accomplish this? I would think something like this: $("td:contains('[^0-9% +-()]')").addClass("left"); would do the trick, but I don't think 'contains' can take a regular expression.
