  • Winforms: Enabling Localization by default

    Is there an easy way to set the Localizable property to true for newly created usercontrols / forms? The scope of the setting should ideally be a solution or a project. In other words I want to say that this project/solution should be localizable, and then if I add a new form or control VS should automatically set the property to true.

  • Displaying console output?

    I am currently creating a customer application for a local company. I have a datagridview linked to the customers table, and I am trying to link it up so that updates, inserts and deletions are handled correctly. I am very new to c# so I am starting with the basics (like about 2 days ago I knew nothing - I know vb.net, Java and several other languages though..). Anywho from what I understand anything output through Debug.WriteLine should only appear when in debug mode (common sense really) but anything output through Concole.WriteLine should appear whether or not in debug mode. However I have checked the immediate and output windows and nothing is being output when in normal mode. Does anyone have any idea why this is?? Edit: I have event handlers for clicking a cell - it should output CellClicked and set the gridview to invisible when a cell is clicked. The latter works whichever mode I am in, but CellClicked is only output in debug mode. I am using Console.WriteLine("CellClicked").

  • Localize node texts in treeview using resource files

    For a project I need a tree view that allows the user to select a module, which then is displayed in a content area. The project relies heavily on localization and this is provided by the resource files. Now I discovered today, that the text that are assigned to preset tree view nodes are not contained in the resource files. So the question is whether there is a way of doing this, short of mapping the elemenst in code. I.e. assigning a name to the node, running over all nodes and pulling the resources from the resouce manager based on the node name.   • Access 2003 - Embedded ppt slide or Excel Spreadsheet in a form, how do I communicate?

    So if I was to take a an access form, and embed either an excel spreadsheet into it, or a powerpoint slide/pres, how would I reference it in VBA code? So I know I have to set the libraries, name the frame of the OLE object, and use applicable syntax to whatever I want to do, with whatever I stick in the form, however the only things I have ever done with excel and/or powerpoint is automate the opening of a seperate window/application from access, not within the access form....so I am not sure?? if I said its a new Excel.Application, then set xls = to (the ss in the file, and not some file path of another excel file somewhere)? does that make sense?

  • TFS Build Configuration Vs Test Manager

    Hi, I have been tasked with setting up TFS 2010 for my company. After setting up TFS and configuring the basics (New collection, project, adding solution to souce control), i thought i would try out some unit testing with it. I configured the Build Controller and Agent for my solution and added in some basic unit tests. These ran ok and did exactly what i would expect (i broke the build then ran the Build Definition, and it showed me where the errors were). My question is, what advantages (apart from the "Black box call stack logger") does Test Manager have over the TFS builds? Is it worth the extra effort of setting that up and configuring it? Only knowing the basics of what Test Manager is, that may be a very naive question to ask, and i appoligise if it is. Thanks

I can create a text file with this information, but we need design time support as well, and it is not practical to have a connection string in every App.Config and Web.config file in the solution.   • problem running system.net.webclient and process.start off a control event

    The following code causes my vs 2008 wpf project to hang, I'm not sure why. Both Part 1 and Part 2 work perfectly fine independently, but when I run them together on an control event (click a button for example) the program hangs. I've also tried shell execute for part 2 - same results. However, this code when run within the form loaded event works fine. Any insights would be truly appreciated. I want to display data from an XML file so I added the XMLDataSource to my page, pointed it to the XML file, and then added the GridView and connected it to the datasource.   • Restart IIS7 webapp for debug in VS2008

    I'm developing an ASP.NET asyc generic handler which uses a static System.Threading.Timer instance to feed data to the response output stream while the context is in the asynchronous phase. I'm having issues at startup that I'd like to debug. Currently, because of the long-lived nature of the timer, I'm manually killing w3wp.exe in order to cause the application to restart. I'm aware that there are other ways to do this, but this is the best workflow I can find! Isn't there a way to force a cold start when I hit f5, instead of the standard VS approach of attaching to the existing IIS process?

  • How to tell if two exe's are the same code-wise?

    Is there a way to detect whether two EXE's (compiled from VS.Net 2008 for C++/MFC) do not have any code-level changes between them i.e. for purposes of knowing that there have been no statement changes. This is for compliance purposes when my vendor ships me an exe, ostensibly with no changes made to the code since the last time we tested it. Is there a tool to check that this is so? Cheers
