  Email messages are sent in plain text which means that the messages I send to Derpina are visible to anyone who somehow gets access to them while they are in transit. To overcome this, various encryption mechanisms were developed. PEM and PGP are two of them. PEM - canonically converts-adds digital signature-encrypts and sends PGP does exactly the same. So where do they differ? Or is it that PGP (being a program) is used to generate a PEM message?

• How to Add a Business Card Image to a Signature in Outlook 2013 Without the vCard (.vcf) File

  When you add a business card to a signature, an image of the business card is inserted into the signature and the vCard (.vcf) file is attached. If you don’t want to attach the vCard file, you can insert the image only into your signature. To insert only the image of your business card without the .vcf file, click People on the Navigation Bar at the bottom of the Outlook window. To get a business card image we can use, we must view the contacts in any form other than People, so we can open the full contact editing window. To do this, click on a different view in the Current View section of the Home tab. We chose to view our contacts in the Business Card format. Double-click on your contact in the current view. The full contact editing window displays with an image of the business card on the right. Right-click on the business card image and select Copy Image from the popup menu. To close the contact editing window, click the File tab and click Close in the menu list on the left. NOTE: You can also click the X in the upper, right corner of the contact editing window to close it. To open the signature editor, click the File tab. Click Options in the menu list on the left side of the Account Information screen. On the Outlook Options dialog box, click Mail in the list of options on the left side of the dialog box. On the Mail screen, click Signatures in the Compose messages section. NOTE: You can also access the Signatures and Stationery dialog box from the Message window for new emails and drafts. Click New Email on the Home tab or double-click an email in the Drafts folder to access the Message window. For more information, see our article about assigning a default signature. In the signature editor, right-click and select Paste from the popup menu. The image is inserted into the signature. You can also use this method to copy a business card image for use in other documents and programs. It’s also possible to insert the vCard (.vcf) file into a signature without the image. • Opening / using WUBI after downloading

  I have no problem downloading WUBI either using Firefox or IE. Either way, however, when I try to run or open it, I get a message to the effect that the file cannot run because the configuration is incorrect and "re-installing the file may help" (which it doesn't - I've tried several times). What am doing wrong ? I am running XP Pro. (Note: my Ubuntu CD works just fine but I want to install Ubuntu inside Windows).

• Help identify the pattern for reacting on updates

  There's an entity that gets updated from external sources. Update events are at random intervals. And the entity has to be processed once updated. Multiple updates may be multiplexed. In other words there's a need for the most current state of entity to be processed. There's a point of no-return during processing where the current state (and the state is consistent i.e. no partial update is made) of entity is saved somewhere else and processing goes on independently of any arriving updates. Every consequent set of updates has to trigger processing i.e. system should not forget about updates. And for each entity there should be no more than one running processing (before the point of no-return) i.e. the entity state should not be processed more than once. So what I'm looking for is a pattern to cancel current processing before the point of no return or abandon processing results if an update arrives. The main challenge is to minimize race conditions and maintain integrity. The entity sits mainly in database with some files on disk. And the system is in .NET with web-services and message queues. What comes to my mind is a database queue-like table. An arriving update inserts row in that table and the processing is launched. The processing gathers necessary data before the point of no-return and once it reaches this barrier it looks into the queue table and checks whether there're more recent updates for the entity. If there are new updates the processing simply shuts down and its data is discarded. Otherwise the processing data is persisted and it goes beyond the point of no-return. Though it looks like a solution to me it is not quite elegant and I believe this scenario may be supported by some sort of middleware. If I would use message queues for this then there's a need to access the queue API in the point of no-return to check for the existence of new messages. And this approach also lacks elegance. Is there a name for this pattern and an existing solution?

  I am using a Windows 2008 Server as my LDAP server and on a Ubuntu 12.04 client I am trying to connect to it. I get the following error: nss_ldap: could not connect to any LDAP server as (null) - Can't contact LDAP server From my Ubuntu client I run the following: ldapsearch -h 10.1.1.251 -D admin -w password -s base dc=ad,dc=xxx,dc=com -p 389 and get the following success message # search result search: 2 result: 0 Success Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I recently decided to use Virtualbox to run Ubuntu, but I get the message this kernel required an X86-64 CPU, but only detected a i686 CPU I've already enabled virtualization in BIOS, but that doesn't seem to work. Many other solutions suggest that I should download the 32-bit version, and not the 64-bit. I'm not sure about that though, since my computer clearly says "64-bit operating system" under systems. But I might just be mistaken.

  I have to install Sphinx on my Ubuntu 11.10 for it to work on a ruby app. I managed to install it through synaptics, however when I run my sphinx (rake ts:rebuild) I get an error message saying: Sphinx cannot be found on your system. You may need to configure the following settings in your config/sphinx.yml file: * bin_path * searchd_binary_name * indexer_binary_name I guess I just need to edit the sphinx.yml file with the right info but hey, I can't seem to find out where sphinx is. Any help?

  The beta for BIDS Helper 1.6 was just released. We have not updated the version notification just yet as we would like to get some feedback on people's experiences with the SQL 2012 version. So if you are using SQL 2012, go grab it and let us know how you go (you can post a comment on this blog post or on the BIDS Helper site itself). This is the first release that supports SQL 2012 and consequently also the first release that runs in Visual Studio 2010. A big thanks to Greg Galloway for doing the bulk of the work on this release. Please note that if you are doing an xcopy deploy that you will need to unblock the files you download or you will get a cryptic error message. This appears to be caused by a security update to either Visual Studio or the .Net framework – the xcopy deploy instructions have been updated to show you how to do this.   My Google Chrome CR-48 started flaking out/rebooting and finally this message.  This post solved the problem quite easily. http://cr-48.wikispaces.com/Reseat+SSD+Cable Two hints: 1) you need to pull off the rubber feet to get at some screws. 2) the real problem is the little white clip under the cable.  Don’t worry about reseating anything, Just push the cable back on and the little white clip back up to snap in place and hold the cable.

  Whenever I try to run a program from gnome gui, I get message Authenticated is required to run the Gparted Partition Editor The same goes for all programs that need root permission and I try to run from 'System tools' in my gnome-fallback. However the same user can become root in gnome terminal with no problem (I added the user to sudoers). I must mention that I've changed the user's password after OS install, so I think I need to update something but don't know what. I appreciate your hints.

In other words, Web Services are a very specific set of technologies. SOA is a concept and can be implemented in many different ways. Some very rudimentary, such as transfering flat files between applications. • SOA will not solve all of your problems. It will make your business more agile, increase business visibility, reduce integration costs and provide better reuse. However, if you don’t need help in these area or expect SOA to cure all of your IT problems, you are looking in the wrong place. • The concepts behind SOA are not new, but SOA is also not mature. SOA as it stands today has really only been around for 5 years. The concepts of standards based protocol handlers, predefined communication schemas and remote method invocation have been around for decades. So, what is SOA? SOA is an architectural blueprint, a way of developing applications, and a set of best practices. SOA is not an ‘out of the box’ solution you buy, install and then have up and running in a matter of months. SOA is a journey to a better way of doing business and the technology architecture to support this better way of doing business. SOA is also a broader set of technologies including more then just web services. Techologies like an Enterpirse Service Bus (ESB), Business Processs Execution Language (BPEL), message queues and Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) all are part of a SOA architecture.   I tried to open a dialog like David Planella describs here (and quickly help add): Open Custom Dialog Windows (PyGTK + Quickly) But this don't works for me. I always get the same Error-Message if I open the creadted Dialog: AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'NewDialogNameDialog' (Note: My Dialog-Name is replaced with "NewDialogNameDialog" to be more general.) I tried to test a tutorial for the Ubuntu app showdown to learn how to use quickly and python. I can also add the whole source-code if you wish.

  My account has been approved and running adverts for quite sometime now. However, today I just got a message (it seems legitimate) from Google AdSense saying: Congratulations, your AdSense account has been approved to show AdSense ads on your own website. Within a few hours, you will begin to see live ads. Should I be concerned? They say that they review accounts to check for compliance, could this be some weird way of saying they rechecked my sites and they complied?

• See configured rules even when inactive

  Hello, I'm wondering if it's possible to get UFW to list the configured firewall rules even when it's not enabled. I only have ssh access to the server at this time, and I don't want to enable UFW if there's not a rule configured allowing ssh. However, since UFW is currently not enabled, I just get an "inactive" message when I run "ufw status". Is there a special flag I can use or even some config file I can look at to see what rules are configured even when the firewall is disabled?

  I downloaded the files from ubuntu and ran wubi.exe assuming that is how i install ubuntu. (This is my first time installing anything other than windows and not using a CD.) Ubuntu Installer completed but said there was an error. • Sendmail on ubuntu 12.04 64 bit connection times out?

  Okay i get the following error message: to=<[email protected]>, ctladdr=<www-data@adam-linux> (33/33), delay=2+08:20:35, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=esmtp, pri=25590437, relay=adamziolkowski.com., dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: Connection timed out with adamziolkowski.com. I'm guessing to make sendmail work. I have to change the default outgoing port number to 465 because comcast blocks port 25. Any ideas? What could be causing this error?

• Kompozer gives an error when runned under 12.10 amd64

  I downloaded kompozer extracted it and run kompozer like ./kompozer So then I get this error in the gnome-terminal Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "overlay-scrollbar" /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/menuproxies/libappmenu.so: wrong ELF-class: ELFCLASS64 (kompozer-bin:8651): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to load type module: /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/menuproxies/libappmenu.so How can i get Kompozer to work under 12.10 amd64? note: The error above had some dutch words in them so i translated it!
